  • Welcome to THE PICKLE JAR newly diagnosed with Addison's Disease, 28-year-old Ashley from Colorado.
She was diagnosed in June of 2023 but the Addison's journey has been part of her entire life. Her father was diagnosed with Addison's when she was just 6 months old and after months of her body on the brink of death, her father suggested Ashley be tested for Addison's.
Although there was a family history of autoimmune disease as her father also has Type 1 Diabetes, and Ashley had the CLASSIC symptoms of adrenal insufficiency Addison's diagnosis was MISSED by her medical team.
She has already made strides in her disease management and is getting back to living and caring for her two small children.
And living with PTSD, Ashley also acknowledges the importance of controlling her anxiety and the effect her mental health has on her STRESS and her adrenal insufficiency.
She is geared up and on the road to BRIGHTER days but understands there will be MOUNTAINS for this Colorado girl to climb. With a positive attitude in her backpack, she is ready to climb high and live life.
Hope and inspiration are what you will get from newly diagnosed Ashley. So get ready to pack your bag and climb your mountains with Ashley.

Thank you both for this. Although I have Secondary Adrenal Insuffiency, from cancer treatment, my story is Soo similar to Ashley's. I spent once a month for about a week in ICU at my hospital for 6 months before they tested my cortisol. It's only been 2 months since my diagnosis and it is amazing to see others on the same journey.

I’ve had secondary AI for many yrs from pred w/other issues. It’s a challenge but gets easier. Read good orig studies yourself and avoid most info on social media claiming cures. Many equate it to ‘adrenal fatigue.’ Obv as you know it’s def not. I wish you only the best on your healing journey. 🙏
