Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world travelling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Chateau de Saint Germain des Pres. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Chateau. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

OMG. Sarah you outdid yourself with those costumes. I’ve been sewing for over 50 years and know how much work went into making them. You both looked amazing and deserved to be on the red carpet along with all the attention you received. Looks like Vivian did an awesome job as well. Can’t wait for the group picture. What amazing work on your costumes! You both look fantastic. I was in Venice 15 years ago and spent two days wandering through the streets in a velvet opera cloak for fun! Even that garnered attention so I can only imagine what you experienced. I can't wait to go back eventually. My first trip was for a cruise (fun tip - if you want to sail for free, convince 16 friends (8 cabins) to go with you and you get cruise director credit for yours!) So i was able to be there but couldn't afford to go into museums at the time. Now that my circumstances are different I think often of all the places I peered into from the doorway! It will happen. I hope you enjoy the heck out of your trip and look forward to seeing more of your adventures.

How did you two talented people find each other? Silly question. The magnetism must have been irresistable. Sara -- I am in awe of your creations. Shouldn't it be a rule that in Venice everybody should make an effort? How about beautiful capes to cover the slovenly tourist look? Beautiful caps, broad feathered hats, long skirts for ladies. It wouldn't be that hard, would it?

Brilliant, Sara all of your hard work on the costumes. I can see now why you drove with those beautiful costumes. Do you think you could show us other venues you visited in Venice and perhaps the hotel. When Stayed many years ago I said at a very small hotel just behind San Marco Square, so much fun. And venture to another part via boat where they make the venetian glass merchandise and had lunch on a beach, it was beautiful.

A little bit! But it also clearly made other people quite happy - us supplying what people had come to see at carnival.
At the height of carnival the outfits are mind blowing. I hope you opened your coat to show off that great vest.

I wouldn’t even call these costumes but just beautiful outfits. How many hours do you suppose it took from start to finish to make these including finding the right fabrics? ❤️❤️ You two looked fabulous. So pretty and truly regal.
It took a month of long days, about 6 days a week (I did try to take healthy breaks).
