Its been darned cold to be honest Conor, we'll need some seriously hot weather from late July all the way through August and September to have a chance of getting main crop figs, fingers crossed 🤞. I love the leaves on ice crystal
Your fig trees are looking good, Conor. Hopefully, the weather will improve again soon. It's feeling more like autumn here at the moment with the cold, wind and rain... lol. I started to see some bumps on my Longue d'Aout the other week so I decided to pinch the growth at the top and moved it into the greenhouse. I'm pretty sure they would have no chance of ripening outside for me here, but maybe there is a better chance in the greenhouse 🤞. I also pinched the growth on a couple of my new varieties I rooted this year too, I guess we'll see what happens.
@PeterEntwistle Thanks! Yes it has felt autumnal recently, so I'm sure it is much colder up north! Will be cool to see if your LDA produces for you 🤞 I say it every year, but I think next year is going to be the year for really good fig harvests 😅
Hey, your best bet with cuttings is on the UK Fig growers Facebook group. In the Winter, lots of people on that group sell cuttings. My trees are a bit young to take cuttings this year (as most are only in their first year), so I probably won't have much to sell.
@@hopeitgrows2892 I tried joining the UK growers group but they blocked me thinking I wasn't from the UK I guess ..can you recommend someone that I might contact directly? And thanks for the reply
@agweder Ah that's weird. You could send a message to Wesley Burton (admin) to try to join. He's a great guy so I don't see why he would block. I get most of my cuttings from people on the group. I don't have their contacts, as I message through the group to them. The only other source is vinnyfigs.co.uk who has an annual cuttings sale (usually around January). Hope that helps! Do you have any specific varieties you're after?

@lyonheart84 Haha, yeah we need a good summer and warm autumn I think. The RdB will ripen up at least I think.

@@hopeitgrows2892 yep, it’s only 13°C here today and very windy 😭. Yeah, every year I keep saying next year will be the year I get some figs lol 😂
@PeterEntwistle oh damn, that's a bit chilly! Hopefully the greenhouse temps are a bit higher.
@@hopeitgrows2892 yeah, thankfully it's much warmer in the greenhouse 🙌
Hello Conor is there away to contact you? I want to buy cuttings in the UK and I'm having a hard time finding a decent source

@@hopeitgrows2892 thank you for replying.. looking for BNR CDD mutante
@agweder no worries. Ah, I tried to root CDD mutante this year but it failed.
