I own a set of Level 5 tools. I haven't had any issues with mine. I have used Tapetech, Drywall Master, and Columbia. L5 is just as good as any of those. They stand behind their warranty as well. I broke my box handle. It was completely my fault, and still, they warrantied it, and overnighted the part to me.
I love my Level 5 stuff. The only tool I don't like is the small 3.5" corner trowel. Too straight and very stiff.
Their trowels and knives are awesome. I love the UltraFlex (.04mm I believe) 12 inch trowel since I don't have the hand strength to really master the trowel yet. Their knives and trowels don't rust and are easy to clean.
I wish level 5 would come out with some power assist large capacity boxes. That is the only upgrade to the boxes I would absolutely suggest to level 5.

Hey brother.......thank you for your honest review here. I've been a taper going on 32 years now. Mostly all remodel / additions / patch work type stuff , but I have been getting some really good sized projects as of late , and need to invest in some newer tools. My 30 year old Premier boxes and 20 year old tape tech stuff is just worn out! New set of fresh tools would really help. Going to be ordering strait from Level 5. And I'll use your code to try and help you the best I can. Rough trade we go ourselves into , but what else are we gonna do?

I see that the full set of Level 5 tools is a little spend at close to $3k retail. If you wanted to put together a subset what would you consider the most essential?
To buy a little at a time I would start with a banjo, to tape with, and get the 10 and 12 mud boxes and the pump. Then work up to the bazooka and angle tools.

My work involves 30% new construction and the 70% is repairs. But I am interested in quality tools. The only tools I own are trays and knives. I am not convinced that I NEED these tools, but if my drywall guy say get this tool or another I'll investigate and sometimes buy. One tool my employee did ask for was a 24 inch knife!

The only thing I don’t like about my L5 tools is my corner roller wheels never spun properly and my 2.5” angle head ripping tapes right out of the box.
Make the wheels are lubed well to start, and sometimes blades on angle heads and boxes take a little break in. You might speed that up some by lightly sanding with 400 grit to take a tiny but of the sharpness off the edges of the blades. I got this set brand new, used it and never had a single problem.
What was the good brand flat box I had that u could take to any Ames store and they'd rebuild it no questions asked?
I dont think ames will rebuild anything that is not ames, not in southeast mich anyways.

@@mjjackaroos112 man I bought a used 10" flat box off eBay and found out about that store so I took it in just hoping they'd look at it and tell me if it needed anything, oh and the seal was missing around the lid.... They COMPLETELY rebuilt it.... New tires, new blade, adjusted everything, new seal..... I was so impressed with their service!!
Nice tools but spendy. Maybe makes sense for the pro user. Agree we should try to buy “made in the USA” where possible. Guy, can you recommend a USA made set of tools? I always try to buy USA made if possible.
marshalltown is made in USA, basic tools and banjo. Lowes carries the line

There’s a really good chance they outsource some of the materials or the assembly out of the country so it’s unlikely anything is 100% USA made anymore.
@@ThatKiltedGuyDIY possibly. It looks like Home Depot carries or sells Level 5 products now. Returning products to Home Depot is usually pretty easy and they offer a standard 90-day return policy (no restocking fee). If I buy direct from Level 5, it looks like they hit you with return shipping costs and restocking fees if the tool is used. Might be best to go through Home Depot when purchasing?

Got a great set. Level 5 tools is hands down the best make. Not gonna lie though my box when it came was best the fuck up but tools intact. I was like huh. That box looked like I had been poured on slung in the truck. Holes in box. Lady comes to my pouches when delivered and slung the box on porch. Ooooo weeee I went off on that bitch. I told her I hope you got 2700 dollars to replace what in that box and she didnt know what to think. Open the box not a scuff on anything.

Would you recommend their hand tools (knives, mud pans, etc (not automated stuff) to a diy'er/home handyman such as myself?
Yes, but the thing about knives is sometimes one brand of a certain size feels good to us & another brand of another size feels good but that comes with experience. But for novices, I can tell you these are high-quality and will be a good one to learn with. They may be the last knives you ever need to buy.

Level 5 tools haven't been around as long as other brands, Wallboard, Marshalltown, Goldblatt, Richard, Hyde, Etc. Shouldn't give so much attention to the new brands(level 5) and others till they have proven themselves....not suggesting that we should not give them a chance, but give them some time before we embrace the brands that are new...JMO...
