Give us a demonstration on an 8 ft ceiling. 👎
There’s absolutely no reason for me to watch this. I enjoyed it though, so good job man!
Haha! Thanks!
I will definitely come back to watch this before i attempt to use this taper again, you make it look easy man! 👍
Haha! Thanks for the kind words. Years of experience my friend.
Do you ever have hands on training with these tools? At a Sherwin Williams perhaps?
As of now we don't but we've talked about it with L5 tools. Where are you located?
Do you have to do the 3 way corners by hand? that didn't come out in your Video.
Have you considered adding some coloring to the mud for demo purposes against white drywall?
Great job Brian! This will help a lot of guys and gals learning the taper!
LMAO 2:00 "Charges" the head, puts hole in the wall.
Other than that, this is worth looking at. Nice bit of kit
How do you “charge” the tape? I’ve seen some guys doing it by the corner beads to avoid leaving those marks.
I do it on the joints because they will be covered anyways or on the window trim
anyone know how high these are effective for a 5'9" man (roughly)?
How much of a learning curve is there?
My 2.5"angle head is like sharp edged and is cutting into the gib, also the spring load is quite strong, so I have to push hard. Van you fine tune or adjust the knifes on the angle head?
Started using recently. Little slow at first but surely when you gain experience faster than hands.
Not sure why you skipped showing how to wipe out where the angles meet by hand. Otherwise everything was good
because this method is a huge waste of time if you factor in time to set up, clean the tool and fix the paper tape.
@@drcpaintball we tape 10 000 sq feet in one day. How is that slow?
anytime some says hand finish is faster I know right away they know nothing.
Bahaha! So true! All credibility is lost instantly when someone says "I can tape faster by hand". Its become a running joke and often people just say it sarcastically for laughs. 🤣
Lolol! Literally the fastest method in the industry to apply tapes is a waste of time?! Jokes. Go back to paintballing.
I love these tools. Makes drywall work easier. But, they aren’t cheap.
Time is money and the energy you save over the years is more than worth the money.
I just did my first ever taping in my 20 by 20 garage. Looks like this guy could have finished in about 2 hours what took me almost 2 days lol. Pretty incredible.
You know the crazy thing is he coulda probably taped it in 20-30 mins.
And hand taped by 2days.
That’s not bad for your first time! Keep up the good work
My flusher and anglehead cut my flats. How do I avoid this
Just rented bazooka and watching UA-cam to learn how to use it. Awesome informative video👍👍👍
Is this guy like 6’8” or something? His head see a so close to the ceiling
You are left handed... you should sell right handed explination as well... tape orientation right hand is different from left.. please explain for others. I value/ share your videos
Very much true. My dad was left handed and I'm right handed. Learning to finish from a left handed yelling red head was no breeze. I actually do alot of things left handed because of it.
So cool… Especially for people that have done at the old fashion way! This must be a game changer for both residential and commercial contractors!
I'm one of those old fashion way tapers. I'm looking for updates to one of those .. thanks for showing us how to do it
@jonathanmatinez I recently got a new crew of finishers. 4 person crew, they use these tools and finish about 600 sheets a week.
Where 3 corners come together aunt no tool for that...gotta get in there with trusty 6"
My favorite taping tools are the roller and angle tool. Inside corners can take time finishing with knife.
When I first use that one I looked like a fool lol I was so excited and amazed at how easy it made my corners lol definitely an awesome tool
Man I need to start equipping myself with those
Yes you do ;)

Hey Bryan, i have a question. Do you know how long a bazooka can spread before it needs to be filled?
I'd like to have a comparison with my modified one. Mine does around 92-95 feet of tape before it needs to be refilled.
70-80 feet I think
Never prime bazooka on not cover place on the drywall!!! Only cover place use it your bazooka for prime for each load. Good work bud
G
I just purchased level five taping tools. When i do my corners i use the roller and then the corner finisher. But my corner finisher keeps on catching my tape and rips it off. Can u advice me on what i can do. Thanks
Bryan good skills, but why don’t you walk forward with the Bazooka Taper
Left hand at the top
Right hand on the bottom
Brian,
Does the gate control the amount of mud behind the tape?
Many thanks,
Perry
Thank you for making mention of cleaning up the bottom of the joints. As a finish carpenter, I absolutely HATE when I get into a corner or near a jamb and a sloppy mud guy/gal has taken the time to leave me a gift which I then have to take time out my schedule to address.
Hi. I have this Brand. Please help me out I have Loaded my Bazooka with Mud but during tapping the tape come out without Mud. My Mud was not too tick and the bazooka was Full of Mud. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks. Emmanuel
Nice explanation! Now how hi of a ceilings you ca do, can you do 10 ft hi once?
Basically don’t damage the drywall on visibility spots.
So what a flusher be better than an angle head? Not sure if that's the right terminology but what I see usually in the video I've normally seen called an angle head or an corner finisher. I plan on buying this set but I also have an actual flusher wondering if one would be better than the other
Wow all of your mud/tape tools eliminate the art from the trade. My favorite part of doing drywall is after hanging it I get to mud/tape and apply a first coat and watch the total transformation. Your tools are no fun lol
This tool can be purchased anywhere. I live in Vietnam
I always drag mine 😪🤦
Is that a level 5 'zook ? How long have you had it & how does it compare in durability / function to a tapetech
Do you do your flats first and then tape your corners it looks that way ,just about to use my new level 5 taper and flat boxes what is the best order to do this thanks for your vid’s very informative
I just used my new level 5 set on a basement tape job. I'd never used bazookas or flat boxes before. Took a minute to start to get the hang of it, but once I did it started to go well.
I used fibafuse for my tape. For the most part it went well enough, only a couple of jambs. We found issue using our angle tool for corners began ripping the tape in the corners. I thing I'll try the fibafuse plus next time to see if that eliminates that issue.
Thanks for all the videos buddy, without all of them I probably never would have bought my set because I wouldn't have known how the hell to use these tools. 👍
When tapping. Stop cut tape push tape forward and role at the same time it keeps the mud from getting on the end of the taper head
I like a guy that charges the tape head in the corners than on the wall only because then your not having to fix the missed indentations of the wheel diging into the paper when they miss it before painting.
Any advice on avoiding blown tapes along ceiling line, I’m thinking mud to thin and rolling to hard forcing mud out but it’s randomly started and now it won’t stop (no sign when sanding, only few weeks later).
What tape are you using it looks like plastic reinforced
These vids are so great......
You cool
Great.
When I take the pin of to use mud shoots out top anyone help?
Depends on how hard your last pump is try to stay a knuckle distance away from the top
I had this same problem when I first bought my bazooka. You're over filling it.
@@tangleberry88 yep that’s what was up not had a problem since keeping a gap form the top great gun tbh highly recommend
Will this setup work if you don’t do a perfect job hanging the drywall
The carpenters will fix it..lol
Great job… explained it very well. Need to get me those tools. Thanks and keep up the Good Work
I need to get a set of tools like that Definitely make your job easier
Can you use basecote or do you have to use all-purpose?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in detail!! I have watched a lot of videos of professionals who say they are showing you how to use the tools when in fact they are simply showing off! I recently purchased a Level 5 set and your videos explain in detail things that I need to do to use them proficiently! I do have a question that I hope that you can answer. I tend to over/under thin my mud, is there a way that I can thin it correctly the first time? I use the green lid all purpose mud to tape.
Hi! This is Brian, sorry for the late reply. Glad you were able to learn something from the video. As far as mud consistency and your green lid all purpose...is that the very gluey mud? There's different green lid brands all over. Not sure which you're referring too. But some muds are much harder to run through a taper. It gums up quicker and dries faster.
A thin mix is still better than a thick mix. I'll often remix my buckets of mud if they're too thick or thin. I tend to go quite thin for my angles and a little thicker for my flats.
@@drywallnation Hello, no worries! Yes that's it. I am an old hand tools guy trying to move into the automatic tool world! I do full scale remodeling and like to do my own drywall as well. Thanks and I'll keep watching, learning, and trying until I get it down!
thanks my man
what hapened with corners.you have to much mud there
How many or much in euro thanks the machine thanks
thanks for that, much appreciated
Jumalauta on hyvää nauhotusta,tilaukseen👍🏿
I always use my mudrunner to glaze my angles after tapeing. This allows me to actually coat all my angles and makes it easier to fill them. Then when I finish coat them with a larger angle head its effortless because the corners are all prefilled with mud! I dont know why all finishers arent useing this method!
Can you make a video about adjusting the blade and the skid on the angle head? I dont have enough mud on my tape when im glazing with 2.5inch head any ideas?
I just bought me a level 5 bazooka and I'm the opposite I have too much mud. I'm hoping I can decrease adjust the amount coming out.
Really good video thanks
Thank you it really helpful
Nice vid, thanks!
Bonjour super travail !
do you do angles first? then butts and flats? I find if i do angles last, the angle head catches the tape on the flats...
Angles should be done after so the ends of the tape are covered. Just let the flats dry for a bit. Don't do one room at a time, do all the wall flats/butts, then ceiling flats/butts, then start doing the angles. You can even spot screws while it dries.
If you're doing under 50 boards, then I wouldn't even bother with the tools. Just use a banjo and pan and knife. The time it takes to clean the tools will be greater than the time it takes to just use a pan and knife.
When you use the flusher on the inside corners does it coat the tape for a final coat, or do you still have to coat the inside corners with a knife?
You have to go over again with a tube and flusher or angle box.
This tool is NOT for Harry Homeowner whatsoever!
Yeah the whole set up will set you back at least $3000...not practical for a weekend warrior...kinda like a guy that buys a $700 driver and plays golf once every couple years
👍👍👍👍👍
$1000??? For à Automatic taper??? No thx, I'll do by hand :)
$1000 is cheap! Haha.
These run more between $1500-2500 depending on the brand and model.
This isn't a tool for DIY'ERS.
You can't beat the speed and efficiency of an automatic taper.
@@drywallnation you forgot less mud on the floor to scrape up...oh yeah the finisher will scrape the floor..lol
Easy money 😎thanks for the lesson
this is so awesome, so much easier than with a knife and tape.
que buenosabe
when I use my level 5 automatic taper it's not filling the tape with the mud or just fill it at the half of the tape...why this happens? anyone knows
Mud too thick? Add more water.
I like u! Clearly explained
thanks man
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻💯👍🏻
This thing is awesome!
Thanx man!
This looks harder than doing it by hand
Way faster than doing it by hand!
True! Just started using our taper, and was able to tape coat about 500 feet in about 2 1/2 hours... And that was the first attempt.
Awesome educational video very well explained. Can you do a video on how to clean and lube the taper? Keep making pumping out the videos.
Hey there! We just released a video on how to properly clean and lube your automatic taper. Feel free to check it out! Thanks!
I do several basement remodels a year, this tool is awesome but I'm wondering if it can use Straight-Flex tape. I like the straight flex because its fast to finish and I get perfect corners.
i'm a professional taper working with the biggest drywall companies and i never used the bazooka.
Ok by hand is just as easy if not easier. Method:
1. Wear gloves and scoop mud by hand out of a bucket (should look like a handful of shaving cream)
2. Shove that mud into a corner seam
3. Rip off an approximate length of tape to match the seam or longer (cut with scissors), bend in half, and use your fingers to stick
4. Use a hand corner tool to feather the edges
5. Re-use scissors to cut the hanging tape of the ends
You should roll and glaze the tape when you run out of mud before taping again. That way you start fresh with the new piece and don't have to worry about hitting the split. Also, don't run out of mud lol. I know you was just doing it for video purposes but it drives me crazy lol. 18 years finishing I have seen it all lol.
Is there a reason you don’t use fibafuse in the corners? Also do the butt joints and seams have to be dry before corners can be done or can it all be done at the same time?
Doesn't have to be 100% dry, but I wouldn't complete 1 room at a time.
Just wondering what's the difference between the mesh and paper tapes and many some pros and cons
Mesh is a total pain in the ass to use. Bubles up and usually takes more compound to cover. It has a mind of its own and isnt as strong as paper in my opinion in certain directions. Mesh also some times dries like a rumble strip so recoats are a little more tricky.
Paper lays flater and thiner and comes out with nicer joints especially in corners. Less mud less work better out come.
Mesh is for small patches if at all. Only good thing about it is it has a glue backing so you can put it on first but then trying to squeeze the mud thru it to get into any gaps you prob should have filled first is a pain in the ass. Its for amatures basically. Cringy to work with after you get paper tape down.
But im not a drywall guy.. Just above handy man level drywall skills im still honing but im getting pretty darn good and thats what i know about it. Take the mesh tape and throw it over your shoulder for good luck like table salt and use the paper.
@@user-dy6gb6zc2l thanks for the advice
@@user-dy6gb6zc2l appreciate the comment - saved me a nightmare
@@user-dy6gb6zc2l lol I've been doing drywall for basically my whole life and used to be a hater of mesh tape as well, but after I started using it, I fell in love. I use a banjo, not a bazooka, so the time isn't that much better. I do angles by hand and use flat boxes.
If you use hot mud(the powder mud) for a first prefill coat on top of the mesh tap, it works perfectly. It's just as fast as a banjo and a lot easier to use.
You do have to use paper tape for angles though. Anyone who tried to angle tape with mesh is a moron.
when u embed tape with corner roller always work from middle of vertical corners and embed upward , the tape will stretch to compensate for gap on vertical corners and when doing top corners when u end the top corner at adjacent wall u butt the filler valve to that adjacent wall that is the required length needed when cutting also when embedding top corners hold the embedder roller on a 45% angle not allowing handle to drop or raise this will always seat the tape properly and u wont have to fix them as they will not roll to one side or the other , to get the needed 3 inch lead for each corner after u cut tape just continue turning taper head in corner and feed at the same time that way u always have a nice amount of lead tape premudded to allow for drag on next corner ! when i tape units , houses etc i tape roll and flush all vertcal corners first and then tape roll flush all top corners this allows me to tie 3 ways in with minimal effort and increases my production . I have been using all machines for 36 yrs and am about to make transit from manual system to air fed as it is 3 to 5 times faster again ....stoked for the change
Hy Jeff, I just purchased a level 5 bazooka..it seems that is putting out a lot of mud. Is there a way to decrease the mud coming out?
@@rolohern9645 hi rolo Usually this problem occurs for a couple of reasons , the first being the wrong type of mud being used the second being the amount of water in mixture ! Machine mud is best for machines and start with a cup of water and add a bit more if needed to you find your sweet spot . Once i get going I dont press it on wall as hard as when I start and pick up speed to a trot , you will find that the mud dries quicker and doesnt shrink like others in industry, best of luck
hey rolo I thought it would be fair to mention that I use fiba fuse products for taping, you can coat over joints right away and complete projects faster
