Not sure if I missed it, but I guess you place a hook on the powerpro braid at some point prior to fishing. What hook do you recommend for this size pattern?
Thanks - the dubbing comb / brush and chart for laying out materials - are they commercially available? Would appreciate a video on how you plan and use the chart for your composite loops
This fly catches fish. I tie them even smaller and they work. I went on a two day fishing trip to the Metolius river and the only two fish I caught were on this fly.
Hey Craig, Here are the Composite Loop Materials with Jerry's instructions using the Card shown in the video: Ice Dub EP Light Blue Brush Barred Predator Wrap EP Blue and Silver Sparkle Brush This is where the real engineering takes place. Have you ever heard anyone talking about scrim in relation to fly tying? In this process, the ice dub provides the scrim, helping to hold the EP and Predator Wrap fibers in place while building and spinning the loop. The result is a strong and beautiful brush, ready to build the shoulders of the fly. The brush is constructed using Jerry’s Composite Loop Card. The key to building the fly, the same way, every time, is to control the volume and proportion of material. The card provides a work station that makes each step repeatable. The lines on the card translate into 4, 4.5 and 4 turns of brush around the shank. I hope this helps.
Hey Scott, Thanks for checking out the video. Unfortunately Jerry has some wacky tools in his bag of tricks and this might even be something he crafted himself. I remember seeing this and have looked for this brush as well but I believe this is a wire pet brush that Jerry has cut to his specifications. Just to be sure I will shoot him an email to find out for sure and post what I find once I hear back from him. Thanks again,
@@chrisroberts3963 Thank you Chris Roberts, I watched and listened several times but in the end I was stumped. Thanks for getting to the bottom of it! I appreciate that a ton! Tight lines~
brilliant. You ed and travis..need to start looking at the scandinavia market..i've been nonestop streaming opst. vid's etc for the past 1 year esp what you guys are doing with composite loops etc. would be a game changer over here. not only for trout/salmon but also for Pike...but first and formost i need "you" to come hard at us all in scandanavia with your insight on steelhead flyes cause it just fucking makes sence and looks asthonishing....you can fill the shelfs but when 2/3ths dont know how to use amhearst...ost. or dubbing loops its an uphill battle..RANT OVER.. PS nice to see a video from you again :) PPS you are looking good. Regards!
ohh forgot to say that i am a fanboy....im not in no way shape or form interested in anything but getting all your materials and ideas to scandanivia so i dont have to import from the US. ty
Hello Anthony, Thank you for inquiry today! This item is actually not the same as the WMD Sculpin. You may want to take a look at this video. It is more similar to the WMD. north40flyshop.com/blog/jerry-french-steelhead-sculpin Thank you again and have a great day!
Hey Jerry, I have been wondering what happened to you. I have been watching OPST and you haven't been on. Do you have a new gig? I have missed your creativity. All the best to you. Sean

Ace tying and innovation, love this, thanks tons to Jerry and North 40 Fly Shop.
I tie a ghetto version, works well on the trout and just as good on the smallmouth. Thanks Jerry, you're an innovative guy!
Love the fly tying videos!! Awesome pattern.
White back works better for that kind of videos. Nice job with nice fly, thank you.

What type of material was added after the ice dub in the dubbing loop?

What is the sound track at the beginning and end of video
Anyone know what that dubbing brush is around the 9:00 mark?

EP™ SENYO CHROMATIC BRUSH 3" - ERIE EMERALD. It took me about 5 times watching that part. The key is he says “Erie emerald”
