  • Is the KitchenAid Food Processor Attachment worth the money? Today I'm unboxing and reviewing the KitchenAid Food Processor with the Commercial Style Dicing Kit in this video! I was lucky enough to snag this for FORTY PERCENT OFF at a random, 1-day Flash Sale at my local grocery store. Find out if it is worth full price, or if you should wait for a sale to buy it as well.
    I am using all of the included attachments in this video: The slicing blade, the dicing blade, the shredding blade, and the julienning blade.
    Please don't be jealous of my Alfafa hair throughout the video. I am going through IVF and have not washed it for 5 days. Sorry not sorry.
    Please leave me any questions you may have in the comments and I will be happy to answer!

    Good review. I have several food processors but the dicer alone on this this attachment makes it worth the price. Suggestion... you should always turn the mixer on to the proper speed before adding the food to be processed otherwise you are putting too much strain on the motor.

    An engineer's view: this enthusiastic video is for a product (Kitchenaide mixer dicing attachment KSM3FPA) with which I had a good followed by a bad experience. The first time I diced potatoes - it worked, provided I cut the potatoes small enough to fit the feed chute. The second time I tried a stick of pepperoni, cold from the refrigerator, not the freezer. It fit the feed chute, but after a few dicings at slow speed, a loud racket occurred and the attachment stopped working. The gears had likely stripped out, but in spite of removing prominent screws, I could not view the gear train - it was encased in plastic. There seemed no way to replace the gears, even if available. On a consumer product at this price point ($90 plus), using irreplaceable plastic gears seems unacceptable. They should be metal with a replaceable shear pin or, if plastic, available and easily replaced. If you plan using KSM3FPA for anything more challenging than a potato, I would stay away from it. Kitchenaide is known for quality; very sorry this attachment is an exception.

      I bought one myself and used it 1 time , I put it away for 6 months and one day fixing my kitchen I was man! Let reuse this thing and this time imma find me a place to put it for easy grab on every time I need it rather than have it boxed n never use it. So one day I had a lot of things to dice and excited . I used it for 5 minutes and it literally stopped. No more . :( i was no way it can’t be. I bearly used . It was only potatoes. 😢so bought another one and let’s see. But if it brakes again. Never again!

    Your onion dicing reaction was similar to mine when I diced carrots the first time. It's like "I'm done, human, more carrots dicing, NOW!"

    Awesome review!! I dice in the neighborhood of 50lbs of just onions a year... that was sweet.... have you ever done Bell peppers in it... I do a ton of those too.... my kitchen aid food processor can't dice... and while I enjoy it.... it is ALOT of work to dice upwards of 100lbs of veges every harvest season....

    Love cooking but lately I’m avoiding it a lot because my wrists get really sore and tired. We do a lot of first principles like onions, garlic, tomatoes- ie not cans or jars. I have some cheap food processor/blenders and got the kitchen aid because it’s a multi tool. I’ve stayed away from real processor because of size and cleaning. Do you think this would be good for small quantities ie only two adults in family?

    Got this for Christmas. Boxed it right back up and will be giving to my sister. This isn’t a food processor. It’s a dicer.

    • @wifeychef8630
      @wifeychef8630  4 роки тому +1

      Yep! I actually said in the video, "it's a glorified dicer, not a bonifide food processor!" Check it out at 7:09 in the video. So obviously, I agree. But I still love it! Sorry you weren't a fan, but hopefully your sister loves it!

      Wifey Chef the biggest issue I had with the product wasn’t even the product. It’s that they claimed it was a food processor but if you had tried to make like a dough or mayo or something in it, it’s not gonna work. If they had called it something else I wouldn’t nitpick .

    • @wifeychef8630

      @@waffleskater8 TOTALLY agree. How are you gonna make pesto or dough or anything of the sort in this? Answer: Ya aint. Lol, I totally hear you!

    Is this still working for you? I know a lot of people have had issues with it breaking. Maybe just steer clear of anything too hard and go easy on it?

    • @Neo-ft8wt
      @Neo-ft8wt Рік тому

      Mine broke the second time :( nothing crazy as I tend to treat my stuff with delicate. I even make sure to cut in 2 peace so it won’t get stuck but idk. I bought me another one and if it brakes imma return it this time . Not throwing the box or receipt but I was upset that my first one I used it 1 x n 6 months used it again and broke right there :(

      @@wifeychef8630 Do you still love it? Reviews are so mixed.

    • @wifeychef8630
      @wifeychef8630  5 років тому +1

      Tammie U. I do still love it! It literally sits attached to my stand mixer every single day. It’s easy to swap it for another attachment but that’s the main one I use. You can even leave it on top and still operate the mixer underneath while it’s still attached. I have no idea if that’s recommended or not but I’ve had no issues with it at all. So there’s not a whole lot of replacing that needs to happen, other than the blades, and it’s not super cumbersome. BUT that only applies if you already have your stand mixer sitting out on your counter every day.
      I do wish the disc blade holder/Storage box itself was smaller, but there was nothing else they could have done. It’s the perfect storage vessel for all of the blades. It just takes up a lot of room.
      All in all... It makes meal prep a LOT easier. I sneak a lot more veggies into my meals now. Things I used to dread making because of the amount of prep work are no longer off the table. I definitely still love it :) In fact, I’m off to make some hash browns with my breakfast using this bad boy right now!

      @@wifeychef8630 Wow! That's great. I found your video right after I got done chopping onions. So that's my driving force 😊. Thanks again!

      Tammie U. Dicing onions is still my #1 fav use for this thing! If you do buy this, make SURE you get the attachment WITH the commercial dicing kit. They sell an attachment without... not sure if they still do actually, but that would mean no diced onions. And that would be a sad day.
      One last thing! If you are not in a rush to buy this, I would recommend signing up for KitchenAids mailing list regarding the stand mixer. Just last week I believe it was, or maybe 2 weeks ago, I got an email for $50 off all attachments including this one. It expired otherwise I would send you the code. But they do have good sales every so often! Good luck! ❤️

    Would butternut squash be able to be made into zoodles with this?

    • @wifeychef8630
      @wifeychef8630  4 роки тому +1

      I don't think so- I don't see how it could turn anything into zoodles- BUT, KitchenAid does make a spiralizer attachment which ROCKS! I can make a video about that attachment as well if you'd like!

    • @CrimsonArchon
      @CrimsonArchon 3 роки тому

      You would want the spiralizer attachment for that

  • @nickmsp2697

    can you also do dry ingredients in there?

    • @wifeychef8630
      @wifeychef8630  4 роки тому +2

      Nope! That's why I mentioned in the video that its not a "genuine" food processor, but more so a glorified slicer/dicer/shredder. You will definitely want to hang on to (or purchase) a real food processor for dry ingredients.
      I do think that KitchenAid labeled this product a bit wrong.
      Let me know if you have another questions!

      So far I have the:
      Food Processor Attachment w/ Commercial Dicing Kit
      Spiralizer Attachment
      Meat Grinder Attachment
      Ice Cream Maker Attachment
      But the pasta roller is for sure next! And I will make a video on that one too then- thanks for the suggestion!! :)
