He also gave memorable performances in 1966 on the CBS soap opera The Secret Storm; as the unscrupulous Thomas Cromwell in the 1969 movie version of Anne of the Thousand Days; and as the governor of Umakran in the episode "The Goddess Calabra" from the 1973 TV show The Starlost. In 1982 he ventured into educational TV with TVOntario's award-winning production of Prophecy with John Colicos. The writer/director, Dr. Robert Gardner, recalled his initial meeting with the actor: "I had seen him scores of times in movies and television and I was very nervous. In truth, though, he was a joy to work with. Once he sensed that you were prepared he was thoroughly professional. His presence in the ninety-minute production was the main reason it went on to win the prestigious Gold Medal at the Atlanta International Film Festival." On American television, he established himself as a science-fiction villain icon, portraying both the Klingon Commander Kor in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Errand of Mercy" (1967), as well as playing Count Baltar in the original Battlestar Galactica movie and television series. Over a quarter-century after his initial appearance in the Star Trek franchise, Colicos reprised his role as the 140-year-old Kor in three episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, telecast between 1994 and 1998. Aside from his science-fiction roles, Colicos also appeared numerous times in episodic television from the 1960s onwards, including the portrayal of the villain on three episodes of Mission: Impossible. He appeared in four episodes of the CBC docu-drama The National Dream as the "railway general" William Cornelius Van Horne and appeared in seven episodes of Mannix. The last person shot and killed in the television series Gunsmoke (1955-1975) was Judge Flood, played by Colicos in episode 631, Hard Labor. Several years after his Battlestar Galactica tenure, Colicos again ventured into science fiction. In August and September 1981, he portrayed Mikkos Cassadine, a demented, power-mad businessman bent on freezing the world, on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. He was also the voice of the X-Men villain Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur (1993-1995) in the Fox Kids animated X-Men television series in the nineties, and twice played rogue alien Quinn in the first season (1988-1989) of War of the Worlds. He appeared in TV commercials during the 1990s for America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses. Colicos' final acting appearance was his reprise of Count Baltar in the concept demonstration trailer Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming, aired at many science fiction conventions in 1999. He married Mona McHenry in 1956 and they divorced in 1981. They had two children. Colicos died on March 6, 2000, at the age of 71, after a series of heart attacks in Toronto.[6] His son, Nicholas Colicos, is also an actor.[7]

Turns out it was a holodeck program and Ponch and John were just a side story for the main character that Worf was playing as a child on earth fantasizing about playing cops and robbers without being singled out as a Klingon.
In this we see how Worf truly felt about Gowron being a power crazed Chancellor. Worf served under Gowron during the Klingon Civil War so you might believe that both those Klingons had the same shared experiences of being in battle. This scene shows that no after the civil war Worf had no such allegiances to his Chancellor yes he did to the Klingon Empire but not Chancellor that led the war so i find that interesting. Later on we see that Worf will do whatever it takes for the Klingon Empire even deposing Chancellor.
@@andrewworley4401 which is awesome as Worf knows that The Klingon Empire will fall due to stagnation and dishonor if he doesn't act to keep it honest and "fresh". Just having John Colicos there was a massive Throwback. Plus it wouldn't make much sense to newcomers to see a flat headed Klingon (However you are correct in how awesome it would be)
the Klingons did their best to reverse the augment virus and some succeeded, including Kor. Enterprise has a Klingon doctor suggest that he take up cranial surgery as a profession. Worf mentions to the time traveling DS9 gang that Klingons do not talk about it, so seeing a flathead would require explanations Worf and Kor are not going to give. Dax was alive during those days though she might have not seen a Klingon flathead herself; by the time of the Trek movies 1-6 we only ever see ridge-headed Klingons including people who were alive at the time like Gorkon and Chang (although Chang is uncharacteristically bald) and even Colonel Worf.. We can see that Kor's ridges are not so pronounced, perhaps he partially restored them but can now excuse them due to age.

You had the cyroship Klingons that apparently been sleeping since prior to the TOS movies.
You had Duras & his sisters...
...frankly that crooked Klingon Ambassador that was about to use a brainwashed LaForge to assassinate the Klingon commander in front of Picard..
....I wouldn't be surprised if his connection to the Romulans that abducted LaForge was that he was part of the Duras family as well...
...so the "feral" snarling Klingons... contemplate how many were connected to Duras.
I really wish they'd brought back the Kahless clone a couple times.
Jon Ericson The Kahless Clone was brought back in at least one Star Trek Novel
They should remake the Odd Couple with Kahless and Dr. Bashiir.
Bashir "Why is the television broken?"
Kahless "I had a few comrades over. We drank into the night remembering our glorious battle exploits. There were fights!"
Bashir "Is this a bunch of dead worms under the throw pillow?"
Kahless "Yes! I only eat Gagh when it squirms! Do not look in the closet!"
Bashir (looking in closet) "THIS IS A HUMAN HEAD!"
Kahless "A fitting end for a fool who serves dead Gagh!"
Bashir (slamming the door) "Those blood stains will never come out of the carpet!"
as a figurehead he is rather expected to stay at home and wave to people. Gowron or Martok would have him vaporized if he did anything else
@@SantomPh wasn't martok a general as well, would have thought he'd push for a warrior emperor.
He shows up a few times in STO.
God I love the Klingons! not the Discovery "Klingons"
ikr. what did they effing do to the klingons there? it's same in the new star trek movies. the klingons look so strange!
Youre right. Klingorcs from Discovery are a disgrace to the Star Trek.
I like them they look fucking terrifying and amazing
A friend once described the TNG/DS9 Klingons as 'The Bikers of the Universe'. I love that description!
@@a.w.3438 When the new movies and tv show were in development the rights to star trek were split between to companies. For products, like toys, collectibles and etc, they had to make their own unique spin. Now that the two companies merged they can kind of fix things.
John Colicos as Kor and Steve Ihnat as the mad Garth turned in two of the best guest-star performances in the original series. Colicos appeared with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange in the remake of "The Postman Always Rings Twice".
I loved Garth!!
RIP John Colicos
AKA Joe and Baltar.
Kor is freaking awesome. Best of the old Klingon Characters
I love how Kor comes across as scolding to Worf and then just smiles calmly!! Great scene!!!
He played the original klingon in the original series of star trek with kirk he is also he the original Battlestar Galactica has the original Baltor
Worf went full nerd mode!
And i love it so much! For i have my nerdy idols as well!
"he *guessed* !" I love that grandpa
* dumps other drink in his cup *
Jadzia: "You told ME not to tell anyone."
Kor: "He guessed!"
This moment alone could have sold the scene... but it became one of many, the tip of the iceberg.
Kor was the first Klingon to appear in the Star Trek multiverse. Some of his underlings were seen first. But Kor was the first to speak. Kor was the first and best Klingon! The much missed John Colicos played him to perfection!
:) I love him as Count Baltar!
As do I!!!
Dax and Kor, two multi-life long friends that just can't help but sass each other at every since opportunity lol
Kor: "Think of the look on Gowron's face when we give the sword to the Emperor!"
Me: "Who cares about Gowron! Think of the look on the face of the Emperor when he gets his sword back! After all, wasn't the Klingon Emperor at this time a clone of Kahless? He'll be overjoyed to get his old rusty crappy sword back! It was like...+1 and everything!"
still awesome they brought John Colicos as Kor :D a Great Honor for all of us
Worf may have been labeled a traitor at the time for condemning the attack on Cardassian Space, but at the same time he wound up becoming a very good example of not truly judging someone unless you've met them and thus judged them, yourself. Such also applies to things and places
The Organians back in the old series stop Kor and Kirk, admired Kor then, awesome actor back in DS9, you will be missed.
John Colicos was a legend. One of the most versatile and talented actors ever.
I loved his voice as Apocalypse in the X-men cartoon.
"He guessed!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It's funny how you can still John Colicos' face even through the newer Klingon makeup. Kor was always a much more thoughtful Klingon... Kor was more interested in a war of wits.
something that sub consciously adds respect to Kor is that the actor is still wearing his wedding ring. Wife before the empire
"He guessed"......I'm dying......
I love their banter!
It was awesome to see worf meet a awesome legendary Kor the dahr master
Back on Earth Worf learned his security tactics as a California Highway patrolman (C.H.I.P.'s)
Ancient terrestrial security force
I always forget about that.
Wonder if he had a batliff (??) In his shotgun rack??
Turns out it was a holodeck program and Ponch and John were just a side story for the main character that Worf was playing as a child on earth fantasizing about playing cops and robbers without being singled out as a Klingon.
John Colicos ate scenery like it was Iberia Jamon. Kor or Baltar. So fun
John Colicos played Kor in ST:TOS as well.
He also played Baltar in BSG:TOS...
Wolf actually smirked
Kor...the prime example of cool old guy.
Now we know why Worf threw Gowron through glass.
andrew worley What do you mean "now"? Gowron was a bastard that screwed over Worf and his family on several occasions.
This is why he (reluctantly) accepted the role of Federation Ambassador to Kronos and was somehow allowed to serve in Starfleet during Star Trek Nemesis lol.
Great men do not seek power, it is thrust upon them.
Actually it was Gowron who sent Worf through the glass (Tacking Into The Wind).
John Colicos set the standard for the whole spieces. The First Klingon! ( They should have named the founder of the culture, 'Colicos', rather than 'Kahless')
I have to admit, I've many times used the line "A shame" ... "It would have been glorious."
You gotta love a guy who dreams no small dreams
The voice of Apocalypse
Kor: I am as far beyond klingons as they are beyond you I am eternal
OMG! I Grew up with that version of X-Men, and never new it was him! Wow!!!
And recently they found a Sword in the Stone in Spain and it's been dated to 1300 S the full sword is in the Stone Age did x-rays on it Excalibur sword of kahless
RIP-John Colicos.
Kor is played by John Colicos, who also played Baltar on the original Battlestar Galactica.
Kor is my favorite. He's one of the more cerebral Klingons; not just a growling windbag looking for a fight.
Every night Worf checks under his bed and in his wardrobe for Captain Kirk.
DS9 had such good Klingons.
Love how he dumps more booze in his cup LOL
He should have shown Kor the wonders of Prune Juice.
Worf made a good guess, luckily for tge rest of the episode
"You do know I found Khaless, right? You could have just asked him where he left it."
He was a clone. He didn't even know how to fight.
They should have left Kor looking as in the original series, before the ''genetic change''? , an old TOS throwback woulda been so cool!
I am sure a Klingon of Kor's standing could easily afford reconstructive surgery. Or get it for free.
Gowron's gonna be totally pissed off.
I need to rewatch DS9
You told me not to tell anyone. He guessed! Greatest line ever.
When senpai notices you...
Worf: 😆
Worf is accommodating of others character failings. A true warrior.
Yeah John colicos my favorite villian of my youth
Most Klingons: Barbarians
Dahar Masters: Swashbuckling Rogues
What a pleasent Klingon
It's a shame that the Battlestar Galactica Original Series Reboot wasn't able to be made before John Colicos death. Given the passion he puts into his role of Kor in the DS9s Episodes he was in make me wish for his return of Baltar and based on the late Richard Hatch's trailer for The Second Coming, well to quote Kor, "It would have been glorious...."
I love Klingons so much.
The sword in the Stone story from King Arthur Excalibur
"This is WAR, a game we Klingons play to WIN." - Kor to Capt. Kirk / TOS
John Coli also played the villan Mikkos Cassadine in the daytime drama General Hospital. He tried to freeze Port Charles. Scenes still on YT.
Worfs thirst is real in this episode!
Kor needs his own series.
Two Legends meet
My favorite Klingon.
He was also Baltar on the original battel star galactica
"You fought with Kirk!"
"Yes, I had a smooth forehead back then."
That smile 😂😂😂
"He guessed!' Ok that's really funny.
Ah yes. Kor. Our devious fiend of a Klingon. Being Klingon with style and grace. Rip John.
