Thank you for the latest podcast. I could not agree more about the Phantom 100X 305g as a racquet option for players suffering arm pain. I have had ongoing wrist and elbow issues for approx 3 years and switched to the 100X 305g about 6months ago to complement the rehab work I was doing off the court. Happy to report I now no longer play with wrist braces and am close to losing the elbow one too. To help get a little more pop from such a control-based frame I string with a softish poly (either Volkl V-Square or Wilson Revolve Spin) at ~48lbs. Also added 3g of Tungsten at 12. Plays brilliantly.
Excellent! as always thanks 👍 appreciate!
Can you make a video on tennis elbow and advice for dealing with it and recovery. Maybe each of your experiences with it. I always seem to end my tennis league seasons with an injury before sectionals starts 😭
I got tennis elbow for the first time after 1 week where I played like 4 singles matches. 3 of them in a row back to back to back days in the sun. I started feeling the soreness after 1 match then the next day I played again but played fine…after that match I really felt it more. And then later on just full on felt the tennis elbow pain. I think I got the tennis elbow from overplaying/overuse, since my rackets and technique have been the same for a while, the only thing that changed was me playing more singles and playing more in day time (I normally play mostly at night)
Tennis elbow issue can also be from modern frames that are too light. Get a 12 ouncer with multi and tennis elbow will go away.
Fantastic podcast
Thanks a lot Troy & Michelle! Always enjoy more racquet talk.
Love this podcast. I am in the market for a new racket. I prefer oversized heads, rehabbing from rotator cuff injury and tennis elbow prone (though my acupuncturist fixed the elbow issue). Not the hardest hitter. Probably 3.5 level.
What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Hold up, stiffer frame + higher tension is ideal? Great AMA btw, love this setup
Where is Tonic!? I haven't seen it on the site lately, it's my favorite gut to buy. Seems to be gone in a lot of shops.
Great podcast Michelle and Troy 👍
I have a question
You might think I'm crazy
Can I put two small pieces of Wilson shock trap dampers on
3. & 9 and or at 12 to my Wilson clash 100L racquet to add a little weight. Current I weighted the clash 100L at 303g with dampener at bottom string
I was wondering if you ever tried this before as an experiment and how did it feel did it change drag or balance weight?
We've seen all kinds of things used to add weight to the racquet over the years...But you can definitely give it a try, whether you try taping it to the frame, or if it can still hook onto the strings. I believe dampener placement is legal as long as it is outside the cross section, so basically below bottom cross, above top cross, and outside of the last mains on both left or right. Don't mark my word on that, but I think I read that in the USTA rules. Troy, TW
This was cool.
I’m rather surprised neither Michelle or Troy thought to mention the Völkl brand for those players suffering from arm/shoulder issues. Pacific and Fischer were also brands renowned for comfort, but were later gobbled up by competitors. I was having bursitis pain playing w/ the old BabolaT Aero racquet then switched to Völkl in 2015 and NO PAIN SINCE! Excellent dampening and shock absorption💥🚫
Which model of Völkl do you use?
@@bournejason66 they’re not player frames, although they suit my intermediate game very well. I have 2 models from circa 2014: Organix V1 MP (brown cosmetic), and the Organix SuperG 6 (red and white cosmetic). I string the V1 w/ Babolat cat gut and the superG using technicfibre X-one Biphase, both in 17 gauge.
@@Travel_n_TourFan I use X-one Biphase too. I like 17 gauge but they broke too fast. I now use 16 but it’s not as comfortable as 17.
Love the podcast so much! Thanks for taking questions. Have either of you ever played with a frame you really didn't like and no matter what you tried in terms of weight/strings/tensions etc, just didn't enjoy, but played very good tennis with? If so, what did you do? Persist despite hating the way it plays but enjoying the results, or switch to something that felt better but you didn't play as well with?
Hi there! I have a question about classic racquets: How do compare the Head Liquidmetal Radical Tour (325g unstrung) and the Head Pro Tour 2.0 in terns of power, spin and ease of use? Thank you!
Good question, however I can't recall ever hitting with the Radical Tour. I have tried some of the older models of the Radical MP, like MicroGel, Flexpoint, Liquidmetal, and have tried adding weight to the Radical MP, but never tried that particular Radical Tour. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thank you for the answer anyway!
@Troy been enjoying playing with Tecnifibre TF 40 305 (2019) for 2 years. At times wishing a little more forgiveness. What options should I be looking into. Many thanks.
It sounds like you might like the Speed Pro 2022. You might also consider the Yonex EZONE 98, or Prince Textreme Tour 100P. Depending on your preferred specs, you might need to customize a little bit, but those sounds like racquets that could give you a little extra forgiveness, or a slight boost on your shots. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse @Troy, many thanks. do you think I should demo Tecnifibre TF40 305/315 (16*19) alongside Speed Pro 2022?
@@yuantop, if you think you want gain some easier spin, and a higher launch angle then it could be worth a try. The 305 will be more similar in spec, while the 315 feels quite a bit more headlight, but less plow. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thanks @Troy, I reckon I will just focus on Head Speed pro 2022 for now.
Sounds like a pretty solid choice. Playtester Chris switched from the 1st gen TF40 305 to the Speed Pro 2022, and has been enjoying it. Troy, TW
why do my poly strings strung at 55 feel like its strung at 155
I'm stuck between an Ezone 98 and 100, what should I go for? I am 15 years old
Both are great options. What racquet are you coming from, and what's your level? The 98 gives a bit more control, and precision, while the 100 provides a bit easier power and slightly more spin potential. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse I'm coming from a Wilson Fusion XL a beginner level racket. Right now I'm at an intermediate level. Will I have control with the Ezone 100?
Yes, there is pretty good control with the EZONE 100. I would say based on your level, and the racquet you are coming from, the EZONE 100 will be the better choice, and supply plenty of control for your needs. The 100 headsize is very versatile for all levels of players, even a lot of top pros. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thank you so much, you have been very helpful
What strings do you recommend?
Which Yonex is Troy holding in the thumbnail? Was it a demo or a switch?
Yonex VCORE 95 with some added weight on it. I really enjoy hitting with it, and is probably a top 5 racquet for me. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks for the reply Troy, that's what I thought...
Mind sharing your weight setup and what you experienced with? That might save me some time tweaking around.
I just demoed the VCore 95 last week and that's what I have in my bag at the moment. The transition in stock form has been easy so far.
Knowing that you also played with a Six.One (16x18 in my case), I'm not surprised we quickly found a home in this Vcore 95.
For the record, I also managed to get my hand on a SV95 for comparaison, but not the red flame 2018 model...
Forgot to ask about your string setup as well, is this a Hyper G or a Yonex (or Head Lynx)... ? Tension and gauge too please !
The last time I spec'd it, it was about 12.1 oz, strung with overgrip and damp, and I believe the SW was somewhere in the 327-330 range, and about 6.5 to 7 points HL. I've sort of tinkered with the head weight based on feel while playing with it, mostly having the head weight at 3 and 9, but also started shifting it a little lower towards the throat as sometimes if feels a bit dead down there.
For string I currently have Hyper-G 17 (1.20mm) at about 46 or 47 pounds, but I also like the Lynx Tour 1.25, and I don't really have a favorite Yonex string, but I might go with Poly Tour Pro, or a mix with a shaped poly and poly tour pro on the crosses, kind of what like Casper Ruud does. Hope that helps. Troy, TW
Regarding pain, equipment will only take you so far, especially if you're already aware of how lowering stringbed and racket stiffness will help. First and foremost you need time and professional treatment to heal. Then you need to strengthen what was injured before going back to hitting, and that also usually involves professional assistance. Tennis is demanding on the body, unfortunately you need to be fit to play tennis, not the other way around =/
There's also a big factor with technique, at least that helped me out massively. If you're not hitting fluidly, in front, and on the sweetspot, that will not help if you're prone to injuries. To the example of the person using the ProStaff / Clash - if you're using a comfortable racket but it's too powerful and you're somehow compensating or holding back, it'll also hurt.
Will I see both of you in Silicon Valley classics in August?😊
Updates on the new tfight 305?

Somebody started podcast hungry! 😋
@Dejan,
Who doesn't love a good breakfast burrito debate?!
Michelle, TW
No love for hot sauce/Sriracha in the breakfast burrito ?!?
Salsa > Siracha for me! But I know we are both big fans of hot sauce, so yes...all the hot sauce and salsa! :)
Michelle, TW
I think I mentioned that a good salsa or hot sauce is key haha. One of my favorite hot sauces is local to our area, its called Cayucos Hot Sauce. But a good salsa verde is always a top choice. Troy, TW
This is gonna date me, but man I miss Tacos Acapulco/Tio Alberto's :(
Golfer elbow ===> go to lower grip size
