Good video totally agree with what you guys said! I've got a 2016 A220d (really wanted am A45 but I do so many miles I needed the economy but wanted some decent performance). I spent way more than I wanted to but it's top spec, sunroof, extended leather, flat bottom wheel, electric memory seats, comand, adaptive dampers, sports seats, ambient lighting, HK sound system, sensors front and rear, distronic plus and it goes on. When I see other A classes it almost feels good to think "mines got more options than that one" lol. Still want an A45 but mapped to 200hp, 440nm torque and can get 55mpg in a car that looks amazing I can't complain!

Just got a 2015 GLA45, coming from a 2007 MINI Cooper S. This car is a beast! Not amazing on gas, but not bad considering the engine. I do wish I could have found one in designo grey, I have black with the night package. Or at least the red cut option, seatbelts, stitching etc. Also wish it was specd with 19in wheels. I have the black AMG 10 spokes. Beautiful car with only minor things I would change.
Unfortunately, I had to get a new turbo 2 weeks ago. Was leaking oil into the turbo and causing lots of smoke, lurching, and stalling. I got a brand new OEM turbo from the factory in Stuttgart, so it was a pricey fix. It’s at about 110,000mi and is my daily. First big repair it’s had. Not happy about that, but hoping for another 110k 😄
You say different mustard, how so? I assume you mean that in a negative way. The M140i is potentially more fun to drive, arguably sounds better and is cheaper like you say.
BoothProduxionz You assumed wrong. The M140i is obviously a different car in terms real wheel drive fun, as opposed to the A45 4 wheel drive. That’s what different mustard means.
bought my brand new a45 in September. specced it in white with the night package, premium package and the sports exhaust. 29 now now so didn't think i could pull of the wing. currently having the rest of the aero kit fitted for around a grand. please do not buy a a45 with out the night package and the sports exhaust !
Excellent video guys, but I think this a clue to those people who push the financial limitations on luxury items they can't afford. In reality these cars are for wealthy people, so if you're worried about costs with the car and working this hard to figure out how to finance it just stick to something normal you will still be cool.
Good advice guys I just got my first merc a class a200 amg line sport !! I would of gone for a a45 or a35 but I got points so insurance is too high ! Tbh tho this a200 is fast but I no it ain’t on the a45 /a35 level they are weapons once my points are gone that will be next 💯‼️ respect lads cool vids

I was going to get the 2014 cla 45 but instead I went on copart and got a 2019 c43 someone unfortunately passed away in it and it made it the same price as the 45 amg so I got it and my and my step dad fixed it up . it cost in Totoal 33-34ish thousand half off of what they cost retail

Just a heads up ...if you have cash to buy the car it makes no sense to finance a new one. Cars lose the most in the first 3 years so yes you're covering the depreciation (which will be massive). If you buy when it's 3 years old plus the depreciation will be a lot less meaning when you come to sell you won't have lost as much. Say the PCP is £400 a month that's £4800 a year so after two years you've lost just shy of 10k. If you buy a private one at three years old do you think they're going to depreciate by 10k in 2 years...nope
Matthew Galloway completely understand, our biggest worry about buying a 3 year old car privately was that it would not have manufacturer warranty unless someone took out an extension on it.
It's not nice to lie nor making up false information. I have an A 45 AMG pre-facelift without performance exhaust and it still crackles and pops (on manual mode and on sport mode).
Not quite every performance car gets hammered. My 83 year old Mum bought a new C43 AMG biturbo etc. 4,000 miles a year, and it'd never go over 2,500rpm.
Bit of misinformation here lads...if you decide you can't afford it after 6 months and want to trade it in, the dealership will make you pay the several grand difference between what you owe and the settlement fee.
Jack and Canon nope, I traded my A45 in after 9 months and I was actually in positive equity. They look at what the settlement is left on the finance ( will be cheaper than original price as it’s being paid off sooner) then they value what your cars worth. In my case I was just shy of £1700 positive equity. Also many dealerships will try to negate as much negative equity in cars by ever giving more for your car or seeing if they can add the negative equity onto a new car because they will want another deal on there reords
Kyle Mills brilliant mate! Performance exhaust normally has black tips at the back, of its silver it not performance. Also you can tell when you rev it. It’ll be deeper and pop like mad! You can also get Mercedes to do a check on the plate, they can print off the spec etc
Zeshan Ali personally I’d go for a CLA45, less of them and they look amazing! However if your going to be tracking them and modding it is go for an A45

I had a question for you guys or see what your thoughts were. I currently have a 2014 C63 507 Edition Coupe. I have recently been thinking about trading my C63 in for a GLA45. Then modify the GLA45 with full bolt-on mods to make it just as fast as my C63 if not pretty close to it. The reason I was thinking about switching cars was to save a little bit of money on my monthly payments and insurance. I have never driven the GLA45 but it looks like a hoot to drive. Not sure if I would like the switch and almost feel like I am trading downward but if the GLA45 can be just as fast and provide me with the same enjoyment as the C63 I might do it. Plus as the time goes on my C63 is going to end up costing me some big money with the issues they have with camshafts and lifters. So was just curious what your guys' thoughts were?
SYNACK21 first of all love that you have a 507 C63, they are an absolute weapon! So, I would say the GLA45 might have the same sound as the C63, but it does feel like a performance car. You can plant the power down much easier and can push these cars around the corner very tight unlike the C63. With a remap and a few other mods the GLA/A and CLA45’s are absolute weapons and feel completely different. I think your doing a sound thing by saving costs, as you’ve mentioned the C63 costs a lot to run! Especially the road tax!!

I love my C63 but now that its a 50K miles I know pretty soon its going to need new camshaft adjusters, camshafts and possibly lifters. Which that would probably be around a $10k job after all parts and labor. I wish Mercedes would have made the M156 better without those parts failing so soon. SO far my car drives and doesn't make any noises to point that I need to have that done at the moment but I know there will come a day when it will be needed.

I drive normally 95% of the time so it still surprises me when I actually smash the pedal to the floor in S+ mode and all driving assist modes off. The car is a rocket. I raced a modded C6 Corvette the other day and blew his doors off.
very true about the spec and paintwork for example that will give you better residuals. good point re the sunroof and steering wheel too . performance exhaust most definitely . yeah definitely watch out for tuned ones as the transmission for example can only handle so much performance and will take a beating on a tuned car. service history for sure with the official dealerships. agree I traded my gla with the dealership and just dropped it off and paid a penalty for the alloy scratches. would have been better to sell it to a third party as i would have made money on it that way. yeah I could not 35mpg on the motorway but overall I was 25mpg combined . drove it more than 7k miles also watch out for stealth tax on any cars registered after April 17 because there is an extra GBP 300 road tax per annum on top of the annual rate (for a total of 5 years )
Andy P yeah it’s a fun car as it is so if you taking it on tracks then it’s worth doing mods to the car or if you have deep pockets 😂 I do think selling it third party could be a better option as you’ve mentioned you could make money from it 👌🏽

Izhaar Jamil really depends how you drive it mate, on eco exhaust off and engine warm so car enters glide mode you’ll get maybe 38/40mpg might be able to do 400 miles on a full tank
Jack Abbott thanks bro! And good choice! The facelift A45 came out on a 65 reg onwards! The facelift will have a bigger screen inside, a rear diffuser, continuous LED day running light strips and look a bit more curved on the outside. If you watch the video of the review of my A45 you’ll see what I mean 🙌🏽
C Haddock I thought the same, I got told at Mercedes that it was around that with costs ETC. I thought he was messing around but when I think of it I would think it could be that as their costs are pricey😂 but I’m not to sure and don’t want to find out😂
It costs £4000 or as good as, if you have it done by Mercedes. The turbo its self is £1500 the rest is labour. Mine went when the car was 6 months out of warranty, Mercedes covered the majority of the bill as a goodwill gesture.
@@LetsTorqueAboutIt Maybe a better option is to get the renntech hybrid turbo upgrade and keep your oe turbo as a spare. I have a gla 45 AMG 2017 381 BHP and that's what I plan on doing.
nutovsky normally performance exhaust will have black exhaust tips at the back, but if you really want to know get the plate number and ask Mercedes to check the spec, they might be able to tell you.
nutovsky it could be, although some of the older models have performance exhaust and don’t have that button. All the button really does is open and close the valves in the pipes.

Henry Turner really depends what you want to do, for me for example if you still like your car and don’t want to change etc just keep going, if you can’t afford it you might be able to just give it back IF you have paid half of the car off( you can find out how much you’ve paid via your finance company) if you just want to change you can always look at trading it in, your car may be worth more than your settlement figure from your finance company (again ask them what the settlement figure is) or you can sell your car and pay the finance off. All depends on what your next step is lad
Dead right mate,better buy a well looked after low mileage five year old car with a few months warranty so you can learn to maintain yourself .Cars are great especially your first few as they give you freedom,but you should own the car,they shouldn't own you.Fast forward twenty and thirty years these two will be sharing a bedsit saying remember when I owned an AMG to each other.
wildman1258 service history, look at the tyres. If they are budget, then know the owner has probably cheaped out on other things too! Check for any lights on the dash or knocking sounds when turning.

Adam Ulhaq if I had the choice and the money I’d go for the C63 purely for the sound and power, but the A45 in my opinion is not trailing that far behind it
Mike Lowski this is kinda murky, you can mod it just make sure you keep the original parts you replace. Your contract may say about the car being returned original, obviously that only applies if you don’t plan to keep the car. When I got my A45 the guys at the dealership asked what I’d be modding first, so it’s not really frowned upon.
Race mode changes the gearbox, engine map settings and damping. It come's with Dynamic Plus Pack or Amg Ride Control options. In Auto mode Racemode is unuseable on the road imho. I do however use it all the time in manual mode in the individual setting because it sets the engine, gearbox setting to max settings with dampers and everything else in comfort which makes for a very nice drive. This is an option that people look for as not many A45 have it and it will help with the residual value.
I'd like to add that 2 years of ownership inc tyres, depreciation and monthly payments has cost around 20k. Well worth it imho, as this thing brakes and corners way better than any rs3 i've driven.
Olds Kooler must have gone through many tyres 😂 these cars do eat the road, the amount of grip you have is immense! You can throw it in and out of corners with ease. The RS3 is a monster as well, however I do think it’s more of a straight line beast whereas the 45’s are more rounded cars, they go fast in any direction!
Yes you can just gave my nismo 370z back few days ago in my 3 years of ownership I did a number of mods including exhaust wheel spacers plasti dips etc windows if anything got an amazing deal back from dealer I did my pcp with. Exchanged for a GLA 45 amg a 2018 with 9000 on the clock came to £336 per month because I had great equity in the nismo because residual value was amazing after 3 years hardly lost any money.
@@leemizrahi5977 I think because you exchanged for another car mods aren’t really accounted for. If you hand the car back because you no longer want it and not looking for another car - you’d be charged for putting the car back to original state. It is murky waters at times.

What insurance company do you guys use for £700 quid a year? I'm 28 and i've 8 years no claims and its coming up 1k for me. Also whats the car dealerships you guys are talking about?
nofear4890 we are both with Admiral, make sure you check the compare websites. Also it’s not all down to age/ no claims, what the car is used for, where it’s kept and when it’s driven/ mileage will all contribute towards the cost of insurance. If the car is kept on a drive/ in a garage and in a low crime area then you will normally see a price down etc

Liv M M nah they were only a few years old when we got them, I’d fully recommend string a CLA45 AMG just so much more car for the money! Defo recommend going to Bromley and chatting to them, really great guys especially Edward Harrison! 👌🏽 knows his stuff!

fusk bugg get a grip mate, it may crackle and pop, but not to the extent the performance exhaust does.

Bit of misinformation here lads...if you decide you can't afford it after 6 months and want to trade it in, the dealership will make you pay the several grand difference between what you owe and the settlement fee.
Jack and Canon nope, I traded my A45 in after 9 months and I was actually in positive equity. They look at what the settlement is left on the finance ( will be cheaper than original price as it’s being paid off sooner) then they value what your cars worth. In my case I was just shy of £1700 positive equity.
Also many dealerships will try to negate as much negative equity in cars by ever giving more for your car or seeing if they can add the negative equity onto a new car because they will want another deal on there reords

Kyle Mills brilliant mate! Performance exhaust normally has black tips at the back, of its silver it not performance. Also you can tell when you rev it. It’ll be deeper and pop like mad! You can also get Mercedes to do a check on the plate, they can print off the spec etc

I had a question for you guys or see what your thoughts were. I currently have a 2014 C63 507 Edition Coupe. I have recently been thinking about trading my C63 in for a GLA45. Then modify the GLA45 with full bolt-on mods to make it just as fast as my C63 if not pretty close to it. The reason I was thinking about switching cars was to save a little bit of money on my monthly payments and insurance. I have never driven the GLA45 but it looks like a hoot to drive. Not sure if I would like the switch and almost feel like I am trading downward but if the GLA45 can be just as fast and provide me with the same enjoyment as the C63 I might do it. Plus as the time goes on my C63 is going to end up costing me some big money with the issues they have with camshafts and lifters. So was just curious what your guys' thoughts were?
SYNACK21 first of all love that you have a 507 C63, they are an absolute weapon! So, I would say the GLA45 might have the same sound as the C63, but it does feel like a performance car. You can plant the power down much easier and can push these cars around the corner very tight unlike the C63. With a remap and a few other mods the GLA/A and CLA45’s are absolute weapons and feel completely different. I think your doing a sound thing by saving costs, as you’ve mentioned the C63 costs a lot to run! Especially the road tax!!

I love my C63 but now that its a 50K miles I know pretty soon its going to need new camshaft adjusters, camshafts and possibly lifters. Which that would probably be around a $10k job after all parts and labor. I wish Mercedes would have made the M156 better without those parts failing so soon. SO far my car drives and doesn't make any noises to point that I need to have that done at the moment but I know there will come a day when it will be needed.
@@LetsTorqueAboutIt Yeah I am still torn between the two. I love my C63 and who knows maybe one day it will go up in value. Only thing I know that as it gets into the higher mileage its going to need new camshaft adjusters, camshafts and lifters as these parts are all known to fail on the M156. After parts and labor that is like a $10K job. Currently, my car drives GREAT! No issues whatsoever and has tons of power. I drive normally 95% of the time so it still surprises me when I actually smash the pedal to the floor in S+ mode and all driving assist modes off. The car is a rocket. I raced a modded C6 Corvette the other day and blew his doors off.

yeah definitely watch out for tuned ones as the transmission for example can only handle so much performance and will take a beating on a tuned car.

agree I traded my gla with the dealership and just dropped it off and paid a penalty for the alloy scratches. would have been better to sell it to a third party as i would have made money on it that way.
yeah I could not 35mpg on the motorway but overall I was 25mpg combined . drove it more than 7k miles
also watch out for stealth tax on any cars registered after April 17 because there is an extra GBP 300 road tax per annum on top of the annual rate (for a total of 5 years )
Andy P yeah it’s a fun car as it is so if you taking it on tracks then it’s worth doing mods to the car or if you have deep pockets 😂 I do think selling it third party could be a better option as you’ve mentioned you could make money from it 👌🏽

Ben Law appreciate that mate! Yeah the GLA45 is an outstanding car, almost if not identical performance wise compared to our cars. Make sure you get the aero kit on it! They looks so aggressive and sound amazing! Very practical car 👌🏽
How much do you get out on a full tank.? Can you achieve 400+ on a full tank driving in eco mode?
Izhaar Jamil really depends how you drive it mate, on eco exhaust off and engine warm so car enters glide mode you’ll get maybe 38/40mpg might be able to do 400 miles on a full tank

Jack Abbott thanks bro! And good choice! The facelift A45 came out on a 65 reg onwards! The facelift will have a bigger screen inside, a rear diffuser, continuous LED day running light strips and look a bit more curved on the outside. If you watch the video of the review of my A45 you’ll see what I mean 🙌🏽
the easiest way to tell is the different tail lights design and the full led headlight as opposed to the xenon ones in the pre FL
is there a difference between sport and sport plus? The CLA45 2015 doesnt have dynamic select with sport plus. Only 2016 and later. Is the 2015 good?

C Haddock I thought the same, I got told at Mercedes that it was around that with costs ETC. I thought he was messing around but when I think of it I would think it could be that as their costs are pricey😂 but I’m not to sure and don’t want to find out😂
It costs £4000 or as good as, if you have it done by Mercedes. The turbo its self is £1500 the rest is labour. Mine went when the car was 6 months out of warranty, Mercedes covered the majority of the bill as a goodwill gesture.

nutovsky normally performance exhaust will have black exhaust tips at the back, but if you really want to know get the plate number and ask Mercedes to check the spec, they might be able to tell you.

nutovsky it could be, although some of the older models have performance exhaust and don’t have that button. All the button really does is open and close the valves in the pipes.

Henry Turner really depends what you want to do, for me for example if you still like your car and don’t want to change etc just keep going, if you can’t afford it you might be able to just give it back IF you have paid half of the car off( you can find out how much you’ve paid via your finance company) if you just want to change you can always look at trading it in, your car may be worth more than your settlement figure from your finance company (again ask them what the settlement figure is) or you can sell your car and pay the finance off. All depends on what your next step is lad

wildman1258 service history, look at the tyres. If they are budget, then know the owner has probably cheaped out on other things too! Check for any lights on the dash or knocking sounds when turning.

On PCP are you allowed to mod the car?
Mike Lowski this is kinda murky, you can mod it just make sure you keep the original parts you replace. Your contract may say about the car being returned original, obviously that only applies if you don’t plan to keep the car. When I got my A45 the guys at the dealership asked what I’d be modding first, so it’s not really frowned upon.
what do you think about RACE mode for the CLA45 AMG? Necessary? Or Sports+ sufficient. It is an option, right?
Tat Deng race mode is only really needed if your going on tracks. Sports+ is sufficient enough to use. It is an option though 👍🏽
Race mode changes the gearbox, engine map settings and damping.
It come's with Dynamic Plus Pack or Amg Ride Control options. In Auto mode Racemode is unuseable on the road imho.
I do however use it all the time in manual mode in the individual setting because it sets the engine, gearbox setting to max settings with dampers and everything else in comfort which makes for a very nice drive.
This is an option that people look for as not many A45 have it and it will help with the residual value.

Well worth it imho, as this thing brakes and corners way better than any rs3 i've driven.
Olds Kooler must have gone through many tyres 😂 these cars do eat the road, the amount of grip you have is immense! You can throw it in and out of corners with ease. The RS3 is a monster as well, however I do think it’s more of a straight line beast whereas the 45’s are more rounded cars, they go fast in any direction!

Yes you can just gave my nismo 370z back few days ago in my 3 years of ownership I did a number of mods including exhaust wheel spacers plasti dips etc windows if anything got an amazing deal back from dealer I did my pcp with. Exchanged for a GLA 45 amg a 2018 with 9000 on the clock came to £336 per month because I had great equity in the nismo because residual value was amazing after 3 years hardly lost any money.
@@leemizrahi5977 I think because you exchanged for another car mods aren’t really accounted for. If you hand the car back because you no longer want it and not looking for another car - you’d be charged for putting the car back to original state.

nofear4890 we are both with Admiral, make sure you check the compare websites. Also it’s not all down to age/ no claims, what the car is used for, where it’s kept and when it’s driven/ mileage will all contribute towards the cost of insurance. If the car is kept on a drive/ in a garage and in a low crime area then you will normally see a price down etc

nofear4890 maybe mate, I use to live in a really quiet area with hardly any houses near by, but as there was not much people if there was crime it goes as a high figure as I believe it’s done by % of people in that area if that makes sense. We both went on compare websites and Admiral was cheapest. It’s worth giving it a try mate :)

Liv M M nah they were only a few years old when we got them, I’d fully recommend string a CLA45 AMG just so much more car for the money! Defo recommend going to Bromley and chatting to them, really great guys especially Edward Harrison! 👌🏽 knows his stuff!
