  • You’ve probably learned to cross your hands over your throat if you were ever choking.
    This signal can go unnoticed in a crowded place. There is a better method described here that saved my son’s life.

    For years I have been choking on food. It is known as “Aspirating”. It’s caused by that part of the throat that is supposed to separate food intake from air in intake not working properly. This is a condition that comes and goes, and it drives me NUTS! Fortunately there are devices on the Internet you can get with which you can “de-choke“ yourself. One of them is called the “De-choker.” I have one of those kinds of devices and it helps. Fortunately, I have never had a case in which I ABSOLUTELY HAD to use it. Nevertheless, it serves as good practice. But in my non-emergency cases, it has helped most of the time. This is essential for people who live alone!
