Subspace will always be better, but melee used worlds from Nintendo games which made it cool
It may seem repetitive to have a story where it’s once again all the heroes teaming up to fight the bad guys so here’s my little idea
This time the villain of the story finds a way to set the heroes against EACH OTHER like some Civil War type of deal. That would make for some crazy confrontations
That’s actually a very fun idea for a story mode!
That’s basically what subspace was though until they all got together at the end. You would have certain heroes in their own little groups and they would enter conflict with one-another occasionally like Mario vs Link.
The problem with writing a story is that we have 60+ characters and it's simply not possible to write a decent story while trying to make everyone relevant, they would either have to exclude certain characters and limit the amount of characters in the story or give most only minor roles
Could you imagine how many times they’d have the pull the “Fighter appears from out of nowhere to help the team” thing to introduce the characters?
@@duby3292 yeah having that many characters would severely hurt any potential story, not to forget the this character is relevant for two cutscenes and then becomes a background character, I know everyone wants another subspace as a massive crossover but that simply can't happen
If they somehow manage to make all characters relevant in the story mode (which makes the story absurdly long and extremely complicated settings) it would be amazing but that’s gonna need so much effort and story mode DLC would prob cost like another 35bucks
When the thumbnail says "how not to do single player", I kinda expected that to be a larger focus of the video.
I just want a sequel to Subspace man. Smash Bros 6(because it will happen, let’s not lie)should have a massive story that blows out expectations out of the water.
Did....you guys seriously forget all about Smash Run? That mode has enemies from several represented universes PLUS has platforming in a large open map AND lets you pick anyone you wish, power them up and face off in one of several end mini game challenges.
Sure, there's "no story" but that was one of the best single player/multiplayer modes I've ever experienced.
I guess no one cares about Smash 4, and even fewer care about 3ds Smash 4 because the default is Wii U since that is what was used in tournaments and had more stuff in general.
Smash Run that good huh. Shame I missed it by going for Wii U instead
A good smash single player I think would be to have a large continuous map(like smash run) mixing places from all the franchises together filled with enemies from across the series. Then within this map you go through platforming sections to unlock doors which lead to bosses, events and challenges from across smash bros past games. No story needed. Just a giant interactive museum
Smash Ultimate actually had a decent story mode and spirit mode which are great for single player. Idk what you mean by a mess
My ideal Smash single player story mode would be a mix between Brawl's Subspace and Melee's adventure mode. This mode would have the story and interactions of Subspace and the platforming levels and use of actual game locations from Adventure. I feel like Smash was really on the verge of a truly magnificent story mode after Brawl but then made a sharp turn the other way. I understand and respect Sakurai's decision but I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not upset.
My favourite fighting game story mode is Chronicles of the Sword from SoulCalibur 3. A strategy game where the combat is an actual fighting game was pretty involving and I think it's a good way to incorporate a lot of characters.
I'd like to see something like this:
The characters fight in a seemingly friendly tournament, with some characters not fighting at first, but being the announcers of the tournament and also a group having bad vibes about the tournament.
The announcers (A fine mix of 6 characters that would either totally do this like Melinda and Palutena and characters that are just there for seemingly no reason like Bowser Jr. or maybe assist trophies like Alucard or even characters that would never actually do that like Sephiroth) that are picked in a way to make them interact like they would never do in a serious scenario, will decide certain events, announce the place at where the next challenge will happen or just talk about what happens in the tournament, which will have many different minigames and boss fights. Sometimes one announcer would be a boss, like Sephiroth turning into Safer Sephiroth or Bowser Jr. using a giant robot. The announcers would be rather chill, even though some announcers are basically insane or something like that, but hey, all for the memes.
The other group, that got bad vibes, wouldn't care enough to join the tournament, like the princesses, Olimar or Luigi. They will notice some things that will lead them to find out that the tournament is there to either distract the fighters from or to help fullfill an evil plan for none other than Tabuu, that returns and got the cores from both Galeem and Darkhon to create a Subspace Bomb big enough to eternally trap the worlds in the Subspace. The story would pretty much unfold from there. Maybe there could be something in the middle, that makes the tournament into an united powers movement to stop Tabuu from doing his plan and then the story would go to the end from there.
When is the next episode of smash bracket? It’s been awhile since an upload, and I actually like the series.

Subspace was great, but lacked puzzles, I would have loved to see more puzzles through out. I would redo SE, but maybe with a bit more character selection options. I did like how SE gave you a taste of every character, but it ran a touch long and if you are new to smash it can be very punishing with not a lot of reward

I liked Subspace Emissary, but there are too many characters for something like that now.... I would rather have Sakurai bring back Smash Run
I want whatever the opposite of world of light was. That was the worst experience I've ever had playing smash

I think you have a pretty good idea that could work with the next Smash game, especially if the roster is down-sized. Just not to 30. That’s a dumb number that is really popular for some reason. I think something around Smash 4’s Roster is reasonable, both from a game creation perspective and a story perspective. Some might disagree there, but I think it works well, seeing as more characters would be grouped together, allowing players to choose someone they want to play more often.

I have an idea for a smash story mode inspired by the story mode from My hero Ones Justice. What if there were two sides? The hero side and the villain side? And your opponents would allies on one side and enemies on the other. Obviously we would need a few more villains to make this work but it would be sick!
A new story should be able to have added the DLC fighters coming all together and then get unlocked in the main story mode. Now why there own? They don't actually feel connected to Smash...well partly. I don't see Steve mining his way in on DK Jungle but I instead see him adventuring finding more resources and finding Joker for example. I feel if they were to do a new Smash story make DLC fighters make sense in how they join and more animation. I loved world of light but the issue is they didn't have much animation
It'd be nice if purchasing all the dlc characters unlocked a bonus mini-story

I really wish there was a story mode just like the sup space story again well for me I like for a story mode I would like to have a the master hand and the crazy hand comeback but there’s a catch, they get killed by the soul master and all the fighters have to take him down.
I honestly really enjoyed world of light. That being said in the next smash game I would really like to see a new story mode, I’m thinking something like sub space with more battles and more recognizable locations
