I took a girl to a motley Crue show when we were 16 in the mid 80's over in Germany. We went to the front row on the left side where Nikki was. The girl kept getting crushed against the rails in front of the stage and began to cry. I asked her what I could do and if she wanted to move back. She said she needed some water. So between songs I yelled to Nikki she needed water. Nikki holds up his finger and said he would be right back. He went backstage and got a cup of water. He walked up to us and I thought wow he is really cool. But then he drank it in front of her and threw the cup at us. Then I thought what a dickbag.

I'm a recovering heroin addict, clean 18 yrs. now. The fact that Sixx didn't reach out to help John Corabi's son with his opioid addiction makes me want to puke. SIXX should be THE MOST GRATEFUL person on earth. He not only survived, but is rich, was born in a first world country, and has lived MUCH longer than he deserves... any addict that has been fortunate enough to have made it through alive OWES his fellow man. NO ADDICT, has ever quite on their own. That's the power of opioids/heroin. Every single one of us clean addicts have received help in some form or another from another human. If we hadn't, the VAST majority of us wouldn't have made it and would be dead, ... no question, ... including myself.

@@rooh5825 gene Simmons is a middle school level bassist. Lars is at least high school level at drums. Besides that, Simmons doesn't give even the slightest of a fuck about trying to make truly good music. Kiss is ac/dc with extra steps. Lars is at least a good composer who helped make Metallica's biggest hit more accessible and overall better. On top of that Lars is way better at learning songs. Granted some of those songs are ones that he wrote, but still. There is an infamous vid of gene Simmons trying and failing to learn a bass line. Also, Lars has a fuckin filter when speaking. Gene is having to apologize for something every other week or so. I should also mention Lars has actually improved after 2020 when he had nothing to do but practice drums and now he's at his best since the 90s. Meanwhile kiss is like the ric flair of music, a million goodbye shows.
You would think that after all these years Nikki Sixx would have picked up how to actually play the bass, yet here we are.

The Crue was trying to do to Mick what Van Halen did to Michael Anthony.
I think that Edddie wanting Wolf to start as a bassist and tour for experience was a factor though. Those are two very different things. And Eddie already had cancer that way they would have good memories on tour, and Wolf even played bass on the last album.
I'm sure the crew got Mick to sue the record label get them while they are weak now not out the woods just blindside them in retirement holding masters and royalties.
Dude MA had one of the best rides he didn’t need to stress of creativity he didn’t need to spend hrs in a studio he didn’t miss a lot of family time he didn’t need to worry about his finances and he didn’t need to deal with DLR egos “ while brilliant we all know DLR had more than one ego that needed feed “ and MA was fortunate enough that DLR and the Van Halen brothers didn’t do some kind of an override taking some% every time MA sported his Disney apparel along side of his Jack Daniels bass guitar line ups… All three capitalized off the Van Halen name while EVH and DLR wrote all the music MA just keep cashing in on Disney /JD every time he played… While still on that VH ride, But hey he got screwed alright….js
@@avarose316 💯In rock n'roll and in life in general Mike Anthony is a winner. He can retire whenever he wants yet he chooses to tour with Sammy right now. He'll live into his 80's, especially Sammy Hagar the guy is amazing at 76.
The factor that is different is that Mick Mars age versus Michael Anthony. Mike was far from old when he left Van halen in the 90's. Mick couldn't really do the tour the Crue was considering when they fired Mick, because it was Mick's health in the end. Like I said Michael Anthony was strong as a bull especially like 28 years ago, and after that for all the VH reunions without Mike. Plus Edward wanted Wolf to play bass, they would have great memories.
Mars always seemed like the only authentic dude in Motley Crue.

Except in the studio after the 90’s or live. There’s video of Mick getting knocked down and his guitar continues to play perfectly. Later Sixx admitted to using a backing track of Micks guitar to help make the songs main riff to stand out more. Same with Nikki’s bass.

Some part of me wants to like Nikki Sixx, but I remember him lecturing/pushing the COVID-19 Vaccine and Quarantine while he was drinking fresh orange juice and eating food prepared by a chef/maid with his beautiful family and living the best life in a mansion that you can live years in without ever having to leave it. It felt backhanded to fans and came across out of touch to how regular people were facing it from the perspective of a celebrity.

Mick Mars was the only decent human being in the band. The rest of them are terrible people.
I saw Motley Crue on the dr feelgood tour. Was a huge fan and had front row seats. Afterwards I wasnt that much of a fan. Mick was solid. Tommy could keep a beat. Thats all I can say positively

I read The dirt and I dislike motley crue so much afterwards and the only one that I came out of the book with a positive opinion of was John Corabi and I remembered when he became the lead singer we was all mad about it and wouldn't accept him. Shout-out to Corabi he didn't deserve that and that band didn't deserve him in retrospect.

If I remember correctly Nikki Sixx once had Billy Sheehan (an unbelievable bass player despite his ties with Scientology) on his Podcast or Radio Show.
Sixx asked Sheehan "Do you have long phases were you don't wanna touch the bass guitar? Sometimes I don't play in weeks" Sheehans response was "No.I love my instrument and play it basically every day"
That shows that Sixx was never a musician. He is just selling an image. I like some of the early Crue stuff because of the rawness but the band should been retired by now.
I'm a drummer because I was a miserable failure at guitar and know next to nothing about playing bass yet I can play Nikki's bass lines. GGGGGGGGG. Yeah, that's about it.

John Corabi made the best Motley Crue album. He was perfect for them. You have to be a real dick not to help someone get their kid off heroine. I've been clean for over 20 years from opiates. If anyone needed my help get clean and sober, I would be there for them. Even now with my lung cancer and COPD and emphysema. I would do anything I could to save a life. Hearing that he did that to John and his family, it puts Nikki near the top of celebrities I can't stand.
I don't know you but I wish you the best. I agree 100% that was real jerk move on Nikki's part. Whatever beef he had with John he should have put on the back burner and helped his kid.

@@Matthew-pk2jq 100%, but you realize Nikki is smart and actually a great writer and lyricist. Physically he was a hot guy in the band, and Vince in the early days especially. And in the 80's it was a big factor in the success of a band, he had the alpha male attributes.

Nothing wrong with that. There are some very good pick players out there. I've played bass for 50 years. For the first 25 of those years I used only fingers and I didn't know how to even use a pick. I learned how to play bass by learning the first 7 Iron Maiden albums note for note and pretty much e ery note on every Rush album up to Subdivisions. I KNOW how to use my fingers. I am a finger player. But somewhere along the line, I discovered that there are just certain tones and attack you can get with a pick that you just can't get with fingers without adding a ton of processing and I LOVE that bright attacky tone, so I learned how to use a pick, whick came in handy in cover bands when trying to emulate cover songs that had bass li es played with a pick, and also very handy for studio work. There is nothing wrong with using a pick as long as you are playing the bass like a bass player would and not trying to pretend you are a guitarist with a bass. To this day, in an hour and a half set of maybe 15 so gs or so, I'll use a pick for 3 or 4 of those songs.
The reason Nikki Sixx sucks has WAY more elements to them than the mere fact he uses a pick.

Growing up as a metalhead bassist, i had two main influences, Nikki Sixx and Cliff Burton. As a kid you love the flashiness of Motley Crue. But as an adult your respect the determination and strength of Metallica. Crue will always have a place in my heart, but Metallica will forever hold my heart overall.

The security guard incident wasn't much of a riot. I think only 3000 people were at that show in a place that held 18,000. You can see the empty seats. That was probably another reason for his temper tantrum

It's pretty clear what kind of person Sixx is when he's treated his own band like garbage. Vince Neil, Jon Corabi, and Mick Mars have all had issues with Sixx's superiority complex and trying to dictate control over the band. Worse yet, Sixx has had nasty things to say about others bands, while he is hardly an average musician and continuing to tour at this point in their career is ripping off the fans.
John Corabbi was one of the best things to happen to Motley Crue in a long time. He doesn't get enough credit for breathing new life into the band. Not to mention he has a great voice.
I started listening to Motley Crue in 84. Their self titled album with John Corabbi is my app time favorite Motley Crue album. It's the ONLY album they have that I still listen to.

Yeah. For nostalgia sake i still like their first album but for the most part, Corabbi's voice is more my taste. The songs from that album just seem heavier.

Well she is listening to what I did when I was in junior high to this day actually. She has good taste. I mean in general. I liked MC back then but still listen to Maiden and Priest. Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin as well.

I was at a Jack in the Box in Pasadena in the early 90's. Nikki comes storming out of the restroom in the nude!!! He jumped into the waiting arms of Rudy Sarzo, who was also not wearing clothes. They ran off into the night across the street with cars honking etc. Sixx screams at the top of his lungs to "Not Judge and that it's love!!!"

It went OK he didn't get to crazy I've gotta matching rose and daisy tattoo in the small of my back ti match the one on his arm we got it in Zwolle Netherlands a long time ago I tattooed the rose he had on the righrmt side of his chest he's tattooed over ut now but it's still there

its too bad they didn't retire 20 years ago. Motley was scribbled on many lockers, notebooks, jean jackets ect in the late 80s and now because of poor management they are scamming fans. when you don't know what song they are playing that's when you know it sounds really bad .

Nikki Sixx is all talk NO PLAY. He discredits and bully’s all these bands thinking he’s hot crap. When he doesn’t even play live, and didn’t even play bass on the record! He’s not even a real musician. What baffles me the most is he was all heads with Bret Michaels yet did the Stadium Tour with him in 2022. What’s the difference? Did they have to get along again or did Nikki just have to keep his ego aside because he’s an a** and just let the money talk. Still remember there was one show only one show on that entire stadium tour where Poison co-headlined over Crue. And Crue went on 2nd after Joan Jett. Sure Nikki was pleased about that.
Bret MIchaels is a huge presence in the metal and hard rock community. People love Bret
so yeah Nikki is put in his place he won't try that stuff again regarding Poison.

In October 2013, I had the strangest experience. My BF at the time, who looked very much like WWE wrestler Undertaker, and I stopped to sit outdoors to have a coffee in ritzy Calabasas, CA. The only other person in the outdoor seating area was Nikki Sixx sitting by himself. He looked over and nodded at us as to say hello politely. We were both in awe as we sat 6 feet away from him. We kinda felt giddy while we whispered to each other that we couldn't believe we were sitting a few feet away from him, but we didn't want to come across that way so we both played it cool. We sat and listened to Sixx for over an hour as he made multiple phone calls, to and about his then-fiancee Courtney. We didn't want to interfere so we just sat there listening. Sixx was on his cell talking about his kids' soccer games, and it was clear he was talking to a soccer mom who was working with him to arrange plans for their kids' upcoming soccer tournament. He was literally on the phone planning who was going to pick up their kids and transport them in whose minivan, etc. He was being a total soccer dad. After about an hour, a typical minivan-driving soccer mom pulled up and walked up to him, and they began to make those arrangements, i.e. who is going to drive the kids, who's going to pick them up, etc. It was SO surreal. This guy that I'd "idolized" since I was 16 was now a boring, everyday soccer dad. In a way it was cool to see how "normal" he seemed but it kinda ruined the image I'd had all those decades. He still looked like a hard rocker with the hair, clothes, heavy jewelry, tattoos, etc. I remember thinking how good his skin looked despite all those years of hard partying and drugs. But it was super surreal. I'll never forget that. Who knew Nikki Sixx would become a soccer dad living in a posh neighborhood. Weird.
Well as we age, we all become “boring” and it’s commendable that he has been a real dad to his kids. If he had stayed the Nikki Sixx we grew up with he would definitely have died for good. He evolved. Nothing wrong with that.

As a musician, Mars was the only reason i ever lent my ear to Motley crue. He's the only reason i bought a crue Guitar tab book. Not once did i ever open the cd booklet to read generic glam lyrics. Or tommys shit 4/4 stomp beats or nikkis easily replaced droning bass.. mick mars is the only reason crue got any attention.
