Watch Nikki, Vince, Tommy and Mick tell the story behind the music.
In my opinion Mick Mars doesn't get the credit that he deserves . And He's a very humble guy .
John Larson yes he does , Mick Gets a lot of credit and is loved big time and you saying a club wouldn't touch them without him is not true .
Actually,... NO, he doesn't....
because John said 'In HIS opinion'.
you can state your OWN opinion ABOUT his opinion, but you cant say that someone doesn't feel the way they do.
Also,... if you hold 'shift' and press enter it will create a space to make paragraphs so you aren't stuck with typing one huge block of text rendering it highly unlikely that people will read your (lengthy) input.
You're obviously a massive Crüe fan, its great to see that level of enthusiasm, but nobody has ever made a 'good point' by calling people 'dumb-ass' ya know?
@@stevehunt914 well said, bro.
That was the absolute kindest way to call someone an ignorant asshole.
Mick mars makes that guitar scream fuck no he does not get the credit he deserves every one always talks shit about him where in the world would the crue be they would have never made it I'm sorry but I allways have have kept it real and Mick mars kicks ass I have always loved and cared about you you are a miracle but I allways have thought that Randy Rhodes holds the title of the the best guitarist God ever made he holds the title of the the best guitarist ever rip in peace Randy Rhodes your number one fan Marcie Lawson
Well, if Mick wanted to self-promote 20 years after the band was relevant and have a radio show, he might get more recognition. He was always just happy to let the others get the headlines. And I think he's in pretty poor condition these days. He is a humble guy and I think that's because he was already in the game a while before they got famous. The others seemed like it went straight to their heads and they didn't know how to behave.
Never seen Mick talk so much and smile so much before. What an awesome great guy.
L VP
I meant ohhhhh yeahhhhh
He has had a life time of major back pain his spine is really messed up ! He is my idle mick always looked grumpy but that’s not really him it’s just pain in his face and he is a amazing guitar player (Artist) definitely one of a kind 👍😎
That's cuz he does all his talking through his guitar
I can't imagine being in all that pain n still being an awesome guitarist
What amazes me is that after all the years of partying and drugs, these guys are STILL well-spoken individuals. Can't really say the same for some in that era of rock.
Tommy Lee isnt well spoken. He sounds like hes perpetually hi on CKE
@@chriskelly4477 that's due to his ADHD ADD, he's always sounded like that, even way back when they first started. Def not because of drugs.
Mick Mars unconsciously soaked up all their potential health ailments and destructiveness and life-altering life threatning situations, he bore all their destructiveness to themselves and it carried the physical ailment. He was literally a life saving antennae for them, a very subtle transfer of energies-Unfortunately he bore it all through his physical ailments.
@@effortlessawareness8778 Holy crap, bro, did u just call him an escape goat? hehe
@@effortlessawareness8778 wow you are a fanboy from hell. You obviously don't realize how ridiculous your comment sounds. May I suggest you stop eating paint chips and sniffing glue.
Mick mars carried a big part of the band, and the writing of Nikki.
And the unique voice of Vince and Tommy's drums
@@jameycockrell5481 So essentially, it all evens out-They were all key aspects-
& There’s nothing left to say except the obvious: the band carried itself and the band itself was great, and the band consists of those 4 members and the band was legendary. And we all know this..
Mick is Crue as far as I'm concerned. He's an excellent guitarist and extremely humble.
It was the idea and the presentation that really blew everyone away. They talked about everything every guy wanted to do and u could dream about being one of the guys in the videos with all the girls. Then one day all these men woke up in their 30s and 40s and realized the dream wasn't gonna happen and then everybody became mad and it trinkled down to teen angst and grunge really took over from there. Rest is history.
I don't wanna say it was a mess. But it was a mess.
-Mick Mars 2013
Mick Mars is the forgotten member in The Crue . And without him , there would have never been Motley Crue . He's not the greatest guitarist that ever lived . But he's up there . And He's got a terrible disease . God Bless him . And the Crue as well .
Mick gets it. He talks about Clapton's fast riff vs. BB King 1 note with feeling. Mick gets it. He was the perfect guitar player for Crue.
I have seen them live and you're absolutely right about Mr Mars
@@muzicman75Yep, I also saw them live and it was a blast.
They nicknamed Clapton "Slow Hand" just saying. I respect Mick but I just don't know about that story.
@johnmichaelson9173 - Thats absolutely true. Different kinda thing Mick was talking about.
My mom had a priest come in and bless the house after she found this album in my room. True story.
Lol God bless her !
Really that a bit dramatic.
Pretty sure that opened a portal to the underworld

@@MrJackcorgi I wondered the same, though Sixx states "Adrenaline!"...Though aside from Sixx and Pulp Fiction I've Never heard of Adrenaline being used in an overdose case!..
That was kinda cute tbh
“Home Sweet Home” was so phenomenal and new when it came out. Just watched the Dirt. I’ll never be able to explain the 80’s to my 21 year old daughter- it was just a different feeling
Erin Tolva same age as your daughter and I somewhat understand and like the eighties. I like bands like the Crüe, Metallica, Def Leppard, guns n roses and van Halen. Basically the only stuff I don’t care for is some of the fashion. Also some of the eighties pop style synth is making a come back, check out the Weeknd- blinding lights and I feel it coming if you’d like. 😁
Erin Tolva lmfao easy with the feelings bruh, they are over get over them. Old ppl be fuxking stuck in the 80s bruh
My kid was born in 1985.. he grew up listening to the Crue, Metallica etc.
Cody Sampson, you are a fucking moron!!
How many times did you get creampied in the groupie bus ?
Mick Mars is the forgotten member in The Crue . And without him , there would have never been Motley Crue . He's not the greatest guitarist that ever lived . But he's up there . And He's got a terrible disease . God Bless him . And the Crue as well .
I agree with you, man. Mick deserves all things good. I like guitarists with that Yardbirds influence and Mick's style is definitely what stands out in Motley Crue. Rpck 'n roll music, in my opinion, is all about the guitar. Too many people in this world judge a book by its cover but there are those who know better.
He is the under dog but he rock's the gutauir
john larson For sure and the entire sound of the band comes from Micks guitar.
Rob I just wrote a post . Without Mick Mars , A club wouldn't even sign Them . That's a Fact .
You're so right he looked in pretty rough shape when I saw them in may but he played a guitar solo and it was absolutely ripping the man is a legend
Mick's solo on Home Sweet Home is one of the most iconic solos ever recorded. And honestly is the best album they've ever released. T.O.P. is just a perfect mix of rock, metal, and pop. Its legendary and molded many musical styles of up and coming bands.
Either that one or girls girls girls. It's close with theater of pain
Just imagine how awesome those monsters of rock tours were with Motley playing third? AC/DC and MEtallica and Motley on one stage is literally too much.
People today have no idea how good music used to be.
Nicki minaj is real music
LOL, thats funny. But for real, the poor fools of today actually think the current music is good.
Oh! C'mon, I read this shit everywhere: " People don't know about good music these days!" Like you know about good music listening to Mötley Crüe. Fuck off!!!
Tag Traum motley is the best band to ever live
Randy Lahey lolllll lmfao this dude I see your subscriptions for music and it’s horrible as fuck
Did Tommy not get the memo about wearing sunglasses?
ha! i can almost hear it: damn it tommy! we said sunglasses indoors, always!!
He decided to wear make up instead. Haha!
Tommy is a rebel!
Haha was thinking the same thing.
Tommy's never been a sun glasses guy
I hope Mick Mars's hip replacement surgery has improved the quality of his life. He has been in so much pain and discomfort for so long.
Yea, and Ozzy snorted a line of ants by poolside. Motley Crue is awesome!
Me too.. I hope Mick is feeling better and healthy.
Vince looks like he had lip replacement surgery.
...for the about 3-5 years he'll still be outnabout, not in an old peoples home.
Mick is an awesome guy. Hung out with him and sat at his table after a show one night. Very cool guy.
Mick is such an angel, we must protect him.
He is, huh? Love Mick
I agree 100%!!! Mick is a treasure. ❤

Jeff Coronado me 2 brother lol miss those days
@matt 33 hell yeah bro
@matt 33 hell yeah I remember head bangers ball.damn bro you brought back some good memories
@matt 33 that's when there was a lot of good music
Absolutely. Their first album is still my favorite and best. Mick is now my favorite member of the band!
"They were the wild side...and I was the blues side." Ab-so-fucking-lute-ly, Mick...and I'm glad to say it. Mick's a very underrated musician, somewhat eclipsed by his band mates by the myopic sight of mainstream rock-n-roll history, but a truly great musician and riffsman.
Well put, his blues based playing is very underrated and gave them their sound. Especially crossed with the rock/punk stuff. A lot of his riffs (Wild Side & Girls, Girls, Girls) are very blues based if you listen closely
I love his slide work in primal scream.
You should see the movie the Dirt. Me you a chair fucking out just like that. Just playing.... Hahahaha!
Tommy Lee still interviews like he’s a High School student.
He still acts like a high school student too lol.
Well they are talking about their past, their legacy and tommy was still a teenager when motley crue was formed
He had only just graduated High School when this was made hadn't he?
That reality show?
@@JETJOOBOY lol yes
@Tararyze 11 you said it !!! i thought about it ha ha ha ....
I've always been more fascinated by the band than their music. I like their music but I really like the guys. I will say that Tommy has always been an underrated drummer. His groove was always rock solid.
C'est vrai.
To me it’s Vince, but yeah I agree with you.... their personalities are great. They are all quite the characters!
Same! I'm not super into their music although it's fun rock and roll excess, but the band themselves are what makes them worth listening and learning about. I wish the movie adaptation of "The Dirt" was better than it was, the casting was fantastic, decent cinematography, but the script was pretty weak and lazy.
Tommy has such a unique sound and rhythm to his drumming. It's distinctive. Like, the first time I heard Rob Zombie's, "Meet the Creeper," I was thinking it totally sounded like Tommy. It was him... he just kills it!
@@citypopFM agree , i thought the movie was garbage compared to the book, thank God to the actors

@@judithjohnson5532 i myself loved it. Im 40 yo n I pretty much grew up on hip hop but loved Metallica n other 80's bands so just to c what "possibly" went on with one of the best bands ever...Awesome! @Andy Salter even tho im 40yo i wasnt a metal head but loved Metallica, Motley Crue and others 80's bands. Just seeing this movie just made me have a new respect for them thats all i was saying. I guess seeing is believing!✌

@@judithjohnson5532 you know what else is a great read? Slash's autobiography. Fucking amazing. Being from So Cal, like you are, you'd really appreciate the places he names and things he did there. Just one quick 1.. he was talking about David Lee Roth had an apartment on the strip somewhere. The front door didn't have a doorknob and wouldn't stay shut. Slash and Adler went there and Slash says Roth had a platter full of coke and sat against the front door and just ripped lines. Didn't offer any up either! Lol. But those, of course, were Slash's heroin days. The best concert I've ever been to was in Weedsport, NY in 1989. GnR were just getting big and they opened for Aerosmith on their Permanent Vacation tour. GnR fucking shredded it!!! Axl wasn't bitching yet and they were tight! You're absolutely correct about those were the days!!! Miss em
Real Crue fans know Mars can shred. Great, great guitar player
80s was the best era of music period. Ozzy, Crue, Prince, MJ. Sade. NWA, what ever genre. Good Times
Nope. If you think that, you're not looking hard enough for new shit.
@@Dead_ham name me one current artist today, that you can put in the same conversation as Prince? Katy Perry, Mily Cyrus? Bruno Mars? Moron 5? LMAO
I think the better way to frame this argument is to say mainstream music. Mainstream music was better in the 80’s. Underground music is incredible today!
@@juansolo7462 how about highly suspect, royaleblood, nothing but thieves, greta van fleet. All amazing. Those boys are lucky they had Mick Mars, he is the back bone of the band.

So sorry, I have an ex who has AS and it's so crippling. 😢
When Nikki says, "Something happens," when they are all together, I know what he means. What that is, is called MAGIC. It's their energy vibing together on the same wavelength. I have seen it with other bands or even other working groups. It's when you gel and the magic happens.

balick1 I miss MTV SO MUCH!!!
I remember when it was Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” that was #1 for longer than I know. To a point where the VJ kinda got pissed at the callers picking the same thing everyday for so long. He apologized the next day. “You Give Love, Prayer & Dead or Alive” all obviously came after “Home Sweet Home” and they lasted way longer than it did to my recollection. I think “the rule” came after Bon Jovi in 1987.
ah good old.mtv they are such shit now
Mars-the guitar player is so UNDERRATED! Good ass guitar player
He's OK for the music he plays but when he compared himself to BB King and Clapton I about spit my drink out laughing
Neg Ative he did compare him self to them he was talking how good they were watch again
+Jennifer Dervin You know what Jennifer Crue was MY era, I posted how I got my crue cassette in another posting, but you're so right. This year as they are supposedly on their final tour, Mick does not get the respect he deserves, but when I see these lists of "riff" guitarists, memorable riffs, there's always Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, EVH, and so on, and Mars is never even thought of, but he IS a riff guitar player, created those riffs we all remember and he should get more praise. Live wire, shout at the devil, too young to fall in love, girls girsl girls, and so on....these are GUITAR player memorable AND original riffs. I read your post and it made me think that yes you're right, he gets little love from others because he's a quiet guy who stayed out of trouble who was well-liked by everyone else. Good guy.

I'm 22 and my dad always plays Motley Crue. Motley Crue is my favorite band, and I love listening to the 80s albums. We finally saw them together this summer. Loved seeing them.
I was so impressed about the lives of all the members of Motley Crue, their different personalities and how they integrated so well as family!
@Brandon S The book is way better than the movie with all those cheesy actors.
But they didn't. These guys went to war with each other time and again. They certainly brought chemistry with each other but they are all very passionate and that passion can cause horrible fights.
Watching this video 9 year later as a 16 year old. My dad grew up listening to you guys and so have I. I went and saw them in Pittsburgh for their stadium tour this last summer. Now Mick Mars is retiring from touring and you are about to go on the world tour. It's was wonderful seeing you guys especially considering I thought I'd never get to.

Nikki wrote the songs and had the initial concept of what the band should be. Mick and Tommy carried the band in the live setting and studio. Vince was good looking and a great entertainer. They all brought something different to the band.
Didn't Mick come up with the band's name too
Yes, Mick had the name and had been waiting for the right band to use it with.
My metal head cousin convinced this country kid to go to see one of their very first gigs in Canada in Hull, Quebec for their Shout At The Devil tour. I just remember being fascinated by the punk scene at the time and I was intrigued by how raw Vince’s vocals sounded so away I went to my very first concert. Old hockey arena and all general admission. I was right at the stage. Even came away with one of Nikki’s bass picks. He was my favorite member right from the start. I loved his look. We bussed to the gig but had to walk all the way back across too Ontario because it let out after the city busses stopped running. Lol. Me and my cousin were so innocent back then we were 14 yrs old and stone cold sober and straight and we had a blast! I’ve been a huge fan ever since. Thanks cousin Joel.

Mick Mars is impossible not to love, he is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and so mellow and laid back. This band has been my favorite since I was literally 7.
Some of their material guitar wise is heavy and satisfying to a fan from the 80s. Like you said they deserve the love esp. Mick Mars.

one of my best bands when i was in my crazy era. the crue showed allot of bands how things were done. bad boys running wild. still love em forever. mick is so cool , i love that guy man.
I appreciate these guys more now in my early 50’s than I did in my teens and 20’s. Their music is that good that I still crank it every time it comes on. It brought me here.
Grew up with these guys and still today their is something about them that I never felt with any other band. Been there since the beginning and cant believe that its now the end. This world is going to feel a bit more empty without the Crue.
Nikki Sixx sounds like he is the brains behind the band , really artistic guy with a solid understanding of the music business
Plus.....I never knew Nikki was the brains behind the band. Even in his worst state hiding in his closest thinking the bad people were coming for him, so he flushes all his drugs down the toilet (read the book)...he still was in control of the band and wrote almost all the lyrics and the basis of all songs. Just amazing!! One day it will catch up. They know it. But what a life of living on their terms and not societies. Just for a minute...I think we would all like to live life on our own terms and not how society tells us how to live. But one who tried....what brings you back is family, friends, love for life and love for a good day. One can never explain the darkness unless they have seen it. But one who has seen it is able to keep others from going to the Wild Side! It is fun at first.....but no way to live a life. But that doesn't mean the music can't continue. Love the music....live a good life....love the music!!

Check this...She bought me that first run with a pentagram Shout at the Devil vinyl...Slayer, Exodus, Venom, Crue, Scorpions, Motorhead, etc posters...she hooked up for bdays and xmas every freaking album from Motley Crue, Ratt, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Death Angel, SOD you f*ckin name it,...My first concert, 6th grade...Ozzy, Bark at the Moon tour...She even hooked up backstage VIP passes for Metallica/Queensryche for my 15th bday! Thanx for being the coolest, aware, non judgemental mom ever who let me find myself!🤘❤️🙏
You're right your Mom is cool, unlike mine in that era.
Tommy Lee is objectively the coolest human to ever exist
Shout was their peak. There are no fillers in that album. Even their version of Helter Skelter rocks.
Why does Tommy Lee only have eyeliner on one eye?
Probably a nod to "A Clockwork Orange"
+Sinister Shred Hard to tell, at least a bit thicker, but the lighting is also playing shadow games.
Because he is tommy lee
not every guy can get away with wearing eyeliner, Tommy can it actually suits him
Sinister Shred yes the liner makes him look older
Too Fast for Love: Best album. Love every song.
I just saw Motley Crue on August 16th in Indianapolis and they kicked ass !! And obviously Def Leppard and Joan Jett and poison they were awesome but I was there to see my liquor I've been a fan of there since 1982 and I finally got to see them !!
"remember when I was a little kid watching mtv." lol, come on man
Lol he was almost 19 when MTV was founded.
Ya no crap right. MTV wasn't even around back then when he was a kid lol
tony neeland Maybe he means people were telling him they watched MTV, who knows.
+tony neeland . Maybe he meant The Ed Sullivan show :)
Haha this comment cracked me up! He's always saying crap like that, I forget if it was this doc or another one but he was saying he still gets carded for cigarettes with a straight face while looking every minute his age Lol
Nicki sixx Is an amazing songwriter. One of the first albums I listened to was the Dr feel-good album. My dad and mom had a huge record player with a 6 disc changer and when I was a kid that was a big deal. My father would put in motley and I was blown away. Hooked since the age of 6 bad ass great bunch of men.
Vince Neil and Axel Rose have always had a beef with each other, to the point that they both wanted to have a fistfight to settle it.
Who, in your opinion, would win that fight? My money is on Vince.
I’ve heard, don’t know if it’s facts that Vince invited Axl to fist fights a couple of times but would never show up. So yeah, my moneys on Vince also🤘🏽
Vince in the 80’s
Not necessarily. Vince and Axl were actually on good terms at one point when Motley took a young and hot guns on tour during their girls girls girls tour. What happened was supposedly IzzyStradlin hit Vince’s wife and Vince attacked Izzy backstage when Izzy and Axl were playing with Tom Petty during some awards show (I forgot which show) Axl squared up to Vince and the rest is history
Definitely Vince
i hope they would kill each other
Motley Crue is highly under rated.
Their music is music.
Excellent sound, vocals, coordination.
Every Album is amazing..
God bless you guys😇😇🙏🙏🙏🙏💕
What am I going to do. I do not know how to live without you Nikki Siix. Frank!
It all starts from Nikki Sixx and that is the facts
Ummmmm not at all brother, it all started with mic to be honest
Talent aside( mick has the most and Tommy is second) nikki was and is the driving force...nikki sixx is motley crue
Nikki wrote all the music and lyrics. No Nikki, no Crue. 🤟
Nikki didn't even know what a bass guitar was when they started. He learned it all on the spot. There's a story that I can't really remember well but Nikki entered in a music store with an empty bass guitar case. He spoke to the owner and managed to make him look for something in the rear shop. Meanwhile Nikki graped a guitar and put it in the case. Nobody saw anything. When he cambe back to the other guys of the band, happy with his new pursase, they laughed at him telling him it was not a bass but a guitar. I don't really remember well the story and could the other way around. But I don't see how he could have put a bass on a guitar case.
@@TheSolfilm That wasn't with Motley. That happened when he was a teenager. He played in a few bands before Motley

I just realized how they followed no actual song timeline for this audiobiography...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE MOTLEY CRUE! My grandmother bought me 3 of their albums one day and actually liked them! I have only seen them 4 times so far sadly. Nikki's voice is so hypnotic. Very ASMR!
Mick Mar's HOME SWEET HOME guitar solo, is simply powerful and well created. Has a little bit of almost everything! One of my Top 10 all time favorite guitar solos. Somewhere between 1-5!🙏🇺🇸💪
I love that song of "home sweet home" finding out that nikki wrote that song wow.
Sixx wrote most of their songs. He's ridiculously talented.
Tommy lee is gorgeous looking still
