Catherine Tate is a brilliant comedian and actress from England. She's great in Doctor Who and her own shows and specials. Lesson #1, you have to laugh at yourself and not take things so seriously. Making fun of stereotypes is the basis for a lot of humor is the basis for a lot of comedians such as Benny Hill, Mel Brooks, Don Rickles, Monty Python.

They were as you know actors. If any thought it was offensive they wouldn’t have rehearsed and accepted the rolls. I’m Australian, Brits and Aussies mostly can laugh at ourselves, or funny mistakes. The names I’ve been called in a funny way by friends, doesn’t offend. Quite the opposite, it’s a sign of friendship you can trust and laugh about our differences with respectful fun and laughter.
I hear the "international actors" especially the Chinese woman had a hard time getting a take without them breaking into laughter. You can see that in the last two how hard they are trying not to smile. Because it is a funny take on accents and stereotypes. The biggest stereotype being that person in the office who pretends that they are expert at job whether they are qualified or not.
Comedy used to be equal opportunity insulting. No one was exempt from being made fun of. And to add a little context, this is from a show and Catherine’s character has a history of trying to fix every problem without the skills to do so. With hilarious results. So of course she said she could translate. She’s playing a character It took many takes to get it right because the actors kept laughing.
