The Intel Core i5-9600k was Intel's second generation of Coffee Lake CPUs, and like the first generation, rocks 6 cores and 6 threads! However, given that specs have changed, and we've lost hyperthreading- how does the 9600k perform in gaming in 2021?
If you're actually reading the description and you're reading this- thanks for watching! Also 'chonky'.
Building a Budget PC can be tough. Not only are GPUs and CPUs so incredibly expensive, but they can be hard to find on a budget... But, there are tips and tricks to finding you your dream Budget GPU, and pairing it with a CPU that will give you the performance you want!
    Have a Great Day!

It is a great runner...You can throw a 3080 on it and it won't choke. Solid chip at 5.0ghz. Too many people getting animated about CORES that speed is important. 9700K, is decent - But 9900K you need a real quality MOBO to overclock a 9900K because the power required is substantial and the VRM's take a kicking and actually the headroom for overclocking a 9900K is not much at all.

Can confirm about Doom being about the GPU.

    Hi Proceu Tech,
Got to know the channel a few months ago and since then don't miss a beat.
    Current build:
    i5 8400
GTX 1060 6gb (+190 core clock, + 575 memory clock, stock core voltage with Afterburner)
Gigabyte z370 HD3 (yeah not great for high-end cpu's but dont intend to OC, bios is updated to the latest)
    32gb RAM (4x8gb) 3000mhz cl16
    PSU Seasonic focus 550w Gold
    240hz 1080p Alienware monitor
I play semi-competitive csgo, LOL and BF1/BF5 for fun with friends. built this rig around 3 years ago and was thinking of upgrading the GPU last Christmas but the prices are just ridiculous for a RTX 3060 TI/3070 or RX 6800.
I have 2 great offers right now for CPU upgrade, 9700k for 210€ and 9900k for 290€ (both new), i still use an old Thermalright Silver Arrow for CPU cooling that works great with the i5 and i think should be ok to handle the stock 9700k/9900k.
In your opinion should i do this "small" CPU upgrade, since prices are super low, or should i wait and just upgrade the GPU when prices return to normal. Since csgo is cpu bound and it's my main game i think this is a good move (price/performance ratio), what do you think?
Thanks for the feedback and keep up the good work :D

    • @ProceuTech
      @ProceuTech  3 роки тому +1

Your rig actually sounds similar to what I had in the past!
I would go for a 9700k. It’s a great chip, and costs way less. Plus, your motherboard would be able to handle it, even with an OC (I overclocked my 9700k to 4.9GHz All core on my Z370 before I upgraded!)
Also, thanks for the support! :D

Thanks a lot for the quick feedback, was hesitant on the 9700k cause of the 16 threads on the 9900k for future Battlefield games. If GPU prices return to normal pairing it with the rtx 3070 makes sense for 1080p or is it overkill?

Most of settings dont affect CPU usage lowering settings is to show if CPU is bottleneck if you have the same amount of fps with the same GPU, i5 9600k and i9 9900k you dont have CPU bottleneck but if you have less fps wit I5 9600K and the same GPU you have CPU bottleneck and CPU bottleneck is alot worse than GPU bottleneck because almost nothing can be done about this except upgrading CPU on top of that overloaded CPU can cause problems like freezes, stuttering, sound freezes, make PC lagg etc.
