I double wrap for my magic circle. When I finish, I pull the tail just a little bit so I can see which side of the extra wrap moves then pull that one tight and then pull the tail. Super tight and NEVER comes loose.
I do the magic circle ...out of frustration, i developed my own way to do it. It's a bit of a combination of what you just did here. Thank you, Crystal ❤❤
I love this method as well, I have done both and this method is very reliable and easy to do without having to worry about it coming undone as easily later on. Thanks for sharing simple tidbits of information, very useful. Love it.
Just watched this and I have to say thank you for another wonderful option. Although I use the magic circle it is not my favorite way to crochet in the round, I also prefer chain method, and now I will be able to also close the hole without having to sew it close. I really appreciate all your videos and tips that make it easy for a lazy crocheter like me to continue crocheting.
When I first started and was Channel Hopping, Magic Circle was all the rage! I just had the worst time with it and after many attempts few successes I wasn’t a fan! The I watched BOD doing a granny square and I knew the Magic Ring was “disappearing” from my gotta knows. And to have this to add to my Playlist! Thanks again Crystal…you’ve done it again! ❤👏👏👏
If you say it then it is “gold “ to me, you’ve never steered me wrong when it comes to crochet Crystal! Thank you so much for sharing this. This method is easier than the magic circle. Happy holidays and mental reset. See you in 2024 🎉.
This is the way I've always started my circles and I can agree, it works great. I like the chains start over the Magic Circle because it gives it more for the stitches to grab onto.
Literally have tried the "magic circle" and found it to be so very frustrating....enter Crystal & BOD! What was once my krytonite became gold! So yeah! Give me CIRCLE STARTS NOW! BOOYAH!😂❤ Many Thanks Crystal!!!
Thank you so much for this easy magic ring tutorial! I tried many other tutorials and could not figure them out. This one was exactly what I needed. So easy to follow and I did it right the first time! I love your easy to follow methods! Thanks again 💕
This is such a simple trick that I could have been using for ages and just didn't realize it. I make a lot of granny square blankets for kids and I'm always worried, even with my excess weaving of the tail, that the magic ring will come undone. 😊
Woohoo! I knew I was doing something wrong. I wasn't crocheting over the tail so I could tighten it up afterward. I don't like the magic circle very much. It does come undone sometimes. :)
I've tried the magic circle and I also found it didn't stay tight. I use your method now and it works great. Thank you and Happy New Year to you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
So true. This method will NOT fail. I made an entire granny cardigan using the magic ring and all, yes all of the centers of my squares failed. All that work spoiled by the magic ring.
This is excellent and how I've done it for a long time. I discovered it by accident because I'm ocd about hiding my tails lol.. Thank you for sharing this and now i feel like it's legitimate lol.. HAPPY New Year's to you and your family. I love all of your tutorials and you genuine love for the art
This is how I prefer to do it too. To me it's easier and more reliable. Great tutorial.
I agree so much.
I agree, I prefer this method also.
This way is great for people who do not like or choose not to do the magic circle. I always sew in my end so mine never comes undone.
This is how I've always done it. The magic circle makes me crazy (it doesn't take much)!!!
Short trip to crazy here as well!
Same here! This is how I do it as well. 💙
I'm laughing because I did this after more magic circle failures, quite by accident. I'm glad you it put out there.❤
I double wrap for my magic circle. When I finish, I pull the tail just a little bit so I can see which side of the extra wrap moves then pull that one tight and then pull the tail. Super tight and NEVER comes loose.
I personally love the double magic circle.
I’m one of those can never get the hole to close with the chain method. Helpful to see this trick.
HI Crystal,
This is how I learned to crochet in the round and it's still my favorite. Thank you for the tutorial. Hugs
Finally a method I can use to do my hats. The magic circle is frustrating for me. Thank you for this! ❤
i hate doing the magic circle i can never get it right i will try this when i make an animal and see if i can do it
I agree with you. This is much easier to do and it closes totally. I also weave the tail around the first row of loops. It closes it even tighter.
I do the magic circle ...out of frustration, i developed my own way to do it. It's a bit of a combination of what you just did here. Thank you, Crystal ❤❤
I've done the same thing for some projects. Blended a few different ways of doing it lol
I love this method as well, I have done both and this method is very reliable and easy to do without having to worry about it coming undone as easily later on. Thanks for sharing simple tidbits of information, very useful. Love it.

I've always done this way. It's what I was taught when I was a kid
Omg. 40 years and i learned how to clise this circle. Thank you❤❤❤
I do it that way. The other method drove me nuts and i was SO glad to have discovered this one.
When I first started and was Channel Hopping, Magic Circle was all the rage! I just had the worst time with it and after many attempts few successes I wasn’t a fan! I could never figure out the magic circle and I watched numerous videos, love your way so much better 💙
If you say it then it is “gold “ to me, you’ve never steered me wrong when it comes to crochet Crystal! Thank you so much for sharing this. This method is easier than the magic circle. Happy holidays and mental reset. See you in 2024 🎉.

Hi again, I agree, this is a great method.
I like this way better also. Feels sturdier to me. 😊
This is the way I've always started my circles and I can agree, it works great. I like the chains start over the Magic Circle because it gives it more for the stitches to grab onto.
Love new options. Took me awhile to get the magic circle down. I like alternatives. Thank you Crystal for your crochet tips
Easy to understand and easy to do……Crystal always comes through!
That is how mama taught me and it works for me. Thanks for sharing.

That's the way I've always preferred to start circles also. Very good tutorial!
Literally have tried the "magic circle" and found it to be so very frustrating....enter Crystal & BOD! What was once my krytonite became gold! So yeah! Give me CIRCLE STARTS NOW! BOOYAH!😂❤

I’m so glad you showed this!! I hadn’t seen how to make this chain method work so well. I’m definitely going to use it more! Thanks!! 😊
I am new at crochet and I love you and your tutorials. They are so easy to understand. Thank you ❤❤❤
I have not been able to master the magic circle. Thank you for showing us this method.
You’re awesome 😘😊. Now I know how to close the middle. I always worry because it doesn’t close and I don’t like magic circle. Thank you 🙏 😊
Thank you. Being a lefty makes learning the magic circle a bit more difficult ❤
You learn something everyday 🥰 Thank you Crystal.
I totally agree. I don't feel a magic ring is as sturdy and I have done it the way you are showing for years. Thanks for the demo. 💜💜
Love this as I don't care for the magic ring.
Thanks so much Crystal. This tip could not have come at a better time.
I've been wondering why I couldn't get a nice closure.
You're the best!
This is such a simple trick that I could have been using for ages and just didn't realize it. I make a lot of granny square blankets for kids and I'm always worried, even with my excess weaving of the tail, that the magic ring will come undone. 😊
I crochet my tail in with the magic circle too! I feel it closes right better with the MC.
Thank you for this video tutorial so much I don't like doing the magic circle...❤

My kids and I prefer this way too
Thank you, Crystal. ❤

I am not good at the magic circle so I do the chain 4 and it works for me ❤
