Eminem asked Craig G to write the raps and coach his opponents in the battles, the actors, but Em didn't know what they would say before hand, he wanted it to. be. as genuine as possible. He might have researched them and written a few punches but he freestyled a lot to make more real and visceral for the movie
Never asked Craig G ,fucking Lie
You know this how?
Yup. That’s why Eminem smiled at that beaver line
It makes sense he researched Papa Doc, not the others. Well because everyone knows everything about Em so it would be unfair if he didn't know about Papa Doc.
ive heard that Em wrote all the actors versus...who really knows..
Eminem low key has a talent for film/production. He could’ve dipped his toes in a lot more like 50 and went that route but instead kept it rap. Gotta respect it
Apparently 50 wanted Em as Tommy in Power.
100000% he has turned down probably 10 20 million and he didn't know then what he knows now....he did that for the rap game/life
I know what you saying 😏 and I respect Eminem's decision to stick with rap but part of me just wishes he would of giving us one more film 🎥 Simla 2/8 mi
50 wanted to bring out his own brand of headphones like Beats by Dre bro but Em n jimmy ivone or wotever his name is said to 50 LOOK AT THE TV … LOOK AT THE TV that’s why he went down that route n A NEVER EVER RATED EMINEM UNTIL ANGOT OUTTA PRISON N STARTED WATCHING @STEVE KNIGHT A SEE MR KNIGHT LIKE THIS CHANNEL IS THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE ON EMINEM ON THIS KIND OF PLATFORM N AM AMAZED THAT NO LIFE SHAQ HAS 3.?MIL SUBSCRIBERS WE ALL NEED TO GET OUR FRIENDS ON THIS STEVE KNIGHT WAVE COS A WATCH THIS CHANNEL EVERYDAY N NIGHT MA BITCH GONNAE END UP DIVORCING ME 😂✌🏻bro all the way from 🏴
He was originally going to be the lead in "Southpaw" it was going to be like a sequel to "8 Mile" but he had to back out of it so they ended up getting Jake Gyllenhaal.
That movie 20 years old, and his verse against papa doc still gives me goosebumps
Anthony Mackie was raised in a good area by his married mother and father, who owned his own business, and went to (and graduated from) prestigious, private schools most of his life, including Juilliard. His brother is even a professor of engineering at Tulane. The fact that Em pulled from Macks stable upbringing and home life, privileged, private education and real background to use it against him in a diss to the character he was portraying is borderline genius. That look on Mackie’s face when he says that is a genuine look of “MFer, Really?”, which cracks me up every time. 😂
That's DOPE 👑!!! You Just Put Me On After 22 Years 🔥!!! I Saw 8Mile In NYC Down Thee Block From My Apartment At The AMC Theater Thee First Night It Dropped In Manhattan 🌟 🌟 🌟 My Man & I And Our 2 Ex'es 🤪, We Were Drinking Johnny Blue In That Bitch Throwing Popcorn Basically Bugging Going Fuck'N Nuts As We We're Born And Thee Whole Place Hated Us 🎊🥳🎊 That's How We Get Down We Were 28 Year's Young HARDBODY 🎶 🎶 🎼 🎶 🎶. . .
So Papa Doc was stunned but Anthony was scared crazy ! 😂
If you watch the movie. He always chose to go second so he could use everything the opponent said against them. Imprinting on Papa Doc that’s what Em’s whole game plan was, not knowing he could also go first and ruin him. Just methodical
@@harrycurtis2087 thats what the second half of his comment is
And Em always goes last on his features so he can show them up too lol
Em going first in the last battle was to be able to make Doc choke. Movie would have ended much differently had Doc gone first.
8 Mile was Anthony Mackie's first movie. Think about that- your first movie, and Em comes in and drops real-world truthful sh*t about you in the ending rap, unbeknownst to YOU?!? 😂😂 Good stuff!!!
Before he became a avenger 😅
Man! That's hard af!
Omg Anthony Mackie been WERRRRRKING!
Another thing that makes it even more 🔥 for me, is that Em literally does that exact same thing in his beef with people! Look at Killshot or The Warning, he uses his own faults and turns it into ammunition, and the other party is left.... Speechless in a way!
One of things that takes power away from his enemies and haters because no one can diss Eminem like Em has ever dissed himself.
@@tiffanykim2773 FACTS hahahaha
The end of the film is awesome because despite overcoming his greatest adversary (not just papa Doc but his nerves too) he just goes back to work after. No contract. No deals. No future. Just B Rabbit. And RIP Brittany Murphy
That’s kinda awesome!
What's cool is that parking lot freestyle where em says "as I proceed to cook and grill ya thats all I took to kill ya, you better recognize me like I look familiar" ....I've actually heard him use that "recognize me like I look familiar" line in a real life battle ....the rap Olympics he uses that bar
Yea! I remember that!
He used bars from all his battles in the rap Olympics and scribble jam in all the battles in the movie 💪
When i hear people say Eminem doesn't have showmanship and couldn't hold his own in todays Battlerap scene just need take a look at his performance in this movie, Yes its acting but the guy uses every tool available to make it feel like you are within the crowd.
The guy is multitalented far beyond what he gives himself credit, If all his passion wasn't focused in HipHop the dude could be out giving lectures on writing poetry, art classes on drawing comics, seminars on how to progress through life and even starred in more movies along his way. Obviously the fame stops him having a normal life but if he wanted to attend many events as a guest speaker or teach a class he would have good wisdom to share. Marshall is humble but he has harnessed far more skills and knowledge than he gives himself credit for. Dude is a beast, a true rags to riches story with all the lows and highs life can throw at you along the way.
No doubt! They already use his lyrics as poetry examples! They his lyrics for a lot now in College English Lit classes!
He would completely dominate in this new era of battle rap
Did you see the energy he had when he was on the battle rap scene. Was all over the crowd.
Get a clean cloth, and wipe this bloody video screen off (proceeds to wide the camera lense with his sleeve)
Em is a phenomenal actor very raw I’m gutted he didn’t take the offer to be southpaw but I respect his passion to hiphop. He looked hot af in 8 mile too ❤😂
Eminem broke character in that scene because he is loving that rap and his face says so every second!
Which scene?
He is really different..the biggest rapper from the World...i am proud of him..
Happy birthday Marshall ❤🎉❤
Man I was so obsessed with 8mile
I watched it over and over.
Eminem was so hot.
I loved the Superman music video on the bonus features DVD.
I see x for sure but I think 50cent is who you look like the most. 💯
I was the same Megan over here in England! That dvd of 8 mile had it all the extra rap battles n that superman video “superman ain’t saving shit girl u can jump on shady’s dick” “input anthrax on your tampax n slap u till u can’t stand” 😂😂😂 But even now i still watch the rap battles constantly n specially the final one v papa doc n that beat is 🔥 Em 👉 🐐
He is like a twin with Michael Jai White
Agree
We will never, in our lifetime experience another artist like Em. It's plain and simple. Debate me if you disagree
Vanilla Ice was and is wayyy better! Lmao jk. No one gonna debate you. There's some excellent lyricists out there for sure. But Em has owned the lyrical game for literally decades. He doesn't care about club bangers. Hope he keeps at it til his last days. He's gotten me through tough times in my life tbh. Pretty much every other high level rapper always says "don't mess with the white boy" lol. 100% genius, genuine, raw, unfiltered, no repetitive bs and unlike any other. A man that literally read and studied the dictionary daily coming up with raps... come on... pure dedication and not to be f'd with lol. Forever and always the B-Rabbit Billy GOAT!
@@ryanr9792 I think he earn the right to do a club banger if he wants. he has done everything except that so far
There is no debate
RA Rugged Man, JJP, Vinnie Paz, Immortal Technique. Eminem is one of the influential rapper World wide but the ones above were doing it well before... how we defining the greatest? Think those people would easily battle him.
No debate, here!
He's the GOAT! 🐐
Now people gotta realize that one, Em was still learning and spittin' each day he could. Its not like he will always win battles. That's not the point. His craft grew over time. If he didn't improve, would a movie even exist after that? It's hip hop after all and well Em don't play. This was his dream. So even when he loses, he keeps going. People make it seem like he will never lose or that his skills are maxed out when really, Em just loves the sport of it all.
At least Stevie you get it 😂
I'm new to the channel, but loving going back in time to watch you discover Eminem- it's been a *real treat!*
I feel like Eminem was a brilliant kid put in a really shitty situation. So instead of being traditionally school smart, he took it a different direction and went with what his situation allowed. it paid off for him.
8 mile was such a great movie. Goated fr....have you checked out Bodied from 2017? Was produced by Eminem....excellent movie too!
I didn't know that! Cool!
Didn't know that either
Bro, movie is too lit. They say all those raps were written by Em too, this guy 🤝
@@Nerd-gasm actually all those battles were NOT written by Eminem. The rappers he went against were not written by Eminem, they were wrote by Craig G
Steve im a guy who loves rock but i grew up sometimes listening to rap older rap ll cool j ,love beastie boys stuff out of th 80s and 90s but i remember the first time i herd eminem he's the only artist i can remember the time and place i herd him. But never really understood all his music until i started watching you break down all his songs two years ago. You are by far the best on utube my man keep doing what you do man you really know your shit.
Same here. I used to listen to the BET countdown when I was young and started listening rap. Then one day I saw this white guy and thought "there's a white guy on BET??" Me, being white, I was like I didn't even know white people rapped. It was Forgot About Dre. After that I started finding all the Eminem songs I could and was hooked.
So glad you revisited the Marv interview w Math and the deleted scene, back to back,it adds more context to it😁Think Em might have added a few lines for the actors, but mostly were written by Craig G😊
Most people would get some fame, get rich, and coast...Em never felt he won yet...so he is still in battle mode! Lucky us. I just hope he truly knows how much his family LOVE him, not just. As an artist but a human too.
I wish they made another 8 mile type of movie.
Bodied produced by Eminem [Rap movie]
@@michellenoden hate that movie.. so exaggerated
Hustle and flo is fire
If you haven't seen that
I am sure you have just saying in case you haven't.
There's quite a few movies similar to it
I think red man and meth..have to do one of these next...another classic
When Em got the crowd going, Poppa Doc was toast
The best part
HE REALLY ABOUT THAT LIFE! WATCH THE HOUR (I THINK IT'S AN HOUR) SHELTER FREESTYLE
HE WENT OFF. HE ALSO TALKED ABOUT BEING THERE AND WAITED FOR SOMEONE TO CALL HIM OUT (HE WAS UP IN THE VIP CHILLIN LISTENING TO THE BATTLES) HE SAID IF SOMEONE CALLED HIM OUT HE WOULD HAVE WENT DOWN AND CHOPPED UM UP! EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS CRAZY THAT HE WAS GOING TO BECAUSE HE SO DANM HUGE!
EVERYONE SEEMS TO FORGET THAT'S HIS ROOTS AND HE DON'T CUT HIS TEETH AT THE SHELTER!
EMINEM IS A LIVING LEGEND!
If you pay attention, you can clearly see the genuine reaction of Anthony being shocked of hearing the first time of em’s verse about him.
if you bought the movie and went into the bonus clips it shows all the battles marv was talking about and after he really spit against marv he really spit against a few others from the crowd too. if you type in 8mile: bonus battles on youtube there a video that shows them all
8 mile is of the best movies ever probably seen it 200 times
Oh damn I would have loved to be in the audience during all those battles!!
You’re my guy! The main guy to appreciate and break down bars. Seriously, don’t tell me you’re just now playing this 😆😆 can’t wait though. Hope yuh appreciate it and Eminem also wrote everyone’s diss tracks/bars
EM wrote all the lyrics in this movie and freestyled all his lyrics ,
RAP GOD for a reason
He didnt. Em asked Craig G to wrote his opponents lyrics.
@@JJ-ji5ey Xzibit also wrote his own rap
Well your wrong bro😂
@@JJ-ji5ey fax. Idk why peeps just say ish without knowing the truth 🤦
No he dint lol
Haters of Eminem just don't know these details. Have you noticed most Em haters come from AFTER 8 mile. I've been with his music since the SSLP. There will never be another Eminem. Black or White. He's just different! Great video Stevie as always 🙏🍻
One of Em's greatest strengths (to me at least) is that he's been Dre's biggest defender since Dre put him on.
This one was lit right here!
I love watching this. Stevie Knight thanks for your reaction and reminding us how great this was.
I know a few people that have written there Thesis on Eminem songs! One in particular wrote his Thesis on No Love....for his Music Degree! I think you've talked to him....Titan 117..? I think is what he goes by!
great as always stevie
I'm so happy that you keep doing artists and I love so good on you
3 rules to live by when going for Eminem....DO NOT let him go first. Don't let him go last either. And just do not ever pull up on him to begin with.
Eminem just gives me CHILLSsszz he is UNBELIEVABLE 💯
I beeeeeeeen waiting for this! 8 Mile 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wena Jabu, ngizokuthola!!!!
@@joebroadbeef332 Lol hau, ngiyenzeni manje?
I'm so happy you decided to run all of the sets from the movie
I love when Proof slaps him up in the begging but gives him a head nod later on after brabbit starts catching momentum. Dig this reaction Steve
I always liked that Paul covers Rabbits shift while he goes to battle.
just sharing information, Em's daughter, Hailie started a podcast called Just a little Shady podcast, and i thought it was funny
Everything was written. Only thing not written were the extra freestyle battles in the deleted scenes. Since eminem was losing his voice, the extra battles were going to be as a montage w no noise so they let the rappers sat whatever they wanted. That's were eminem wasn't having it and turned on his mic. They explain this in the 8 mile behind the scenes.
I heard that he wrote for everyone. After hearing papa dcs interview on here he said some of the rappers in the beginning battles but i heard he wrote all the ending battles and before that he was str8 freestylin in the beginning battles.... I want that chick tho in the beginning battles. So fine
EM is EM!The GOAT!Case closed!🙌🙌
That parking lot rap was so fire when i heard it
This was a nice trip down memory lane. I really enjoy your content, no matter what it is! You should do some more like this. There’s “Straight outta Compton”, “New Edition”, “All eyes on me”, “Notorious”, just to name a few. You might be on to something. Thank you for delivering great content!
Dope video Xzibit!
OMG thank you! I loved watching you react to the last battle of 8 Mile
Bro Anthony Mackie is so different in real life than Papa Doc 😂 like polar opposites lol
eminem greatness surpass all the legends in hiphop realshit.... complete package as a rapper battle rapper underground to mainstream got hits billboard awards grammy oscars skills everything no one can ever do the things he got and hes still alive....haters gonna hate but the facts cant erase....
"What up X" 😂😂🤣
When Eminem said something about Papdog being scare and shook and scared to look in his yearbook is the same as when Kendrick said Drake is scared to look in the mirror when Kendrick is near ya at the BET cyphers
dude you need to see the "Bodied" movie battles they go hard
Its funny to see Stevie laughing at papa doc scenes because back when this movie first came out, he was considered an intimidating character
he won with a written verse against off-the-top raps from a rapper who have been shooting and battling the whole day. it's like saying you won against the best boxer after the boxer has been fighting 10 other boxers nonstop while being on diet.
Loving this cheers 🍻
yeah, this was fire for real
Tbh, if a person is strong enough, EM's strategy is a great one for dealing with bullies... take every crap thing they have to say, say it first then dare them to come up with new material.
just like the movie eminem never goes first so he can use what they say against him just like in real life. genius.
Em the Mike Tyson Of Rap.
Eminem write whole raps in the film . So easy for em
Aye can we see a picture of them braids 😅
This my favorite movie lol this and straight outta Compton
Yup!! We gotta see it. "What up, X?!" 😂 😂 😂
If you listen carefully every battle in the ending he did more and more acapella. First its just minor, then more medium and all out hardcore.
Yo, originally you said that Em lost to Marv One! FOH!!!! Lol. What changed between your first reaction of 8 Mile until now? Em fucking SMOKED that fool.
The xzibit reference was hilarious
This is why Eminem is great 💪🏽
This guy's Captain America? His real name is Clarence.
Beautifully put
A lot of people don’t know this, but during this time, Mac was doing a Broadway as 2Pac so that 2Pac scheme Eminem did was a shot too
Eminem is different , is the 🐐🙈❤️🔥👏
You should have so many more subscribers. No one breaks down the bars like you imo.
Stevie is phenomal but also check it Knox hill
Em went crazy on this with movie/life entendres, Knight said he can’t believe Anthony is a gangster and that’s what Em exposed in the battle about his character, at the same time Mackie is playing a character that he isn’t like but had to pretend to be in order to get on like Papa Doc
Em is genious....he gon disarm you before get a chance to fire!..🔥🔥🔥
fun fact XZIBIT is actually from Detroit but didnt grow up here so its cool to see him in this movie
Xzibit from New Mexico lol
The extra stuff (cut scenes) we’re all supposedly off the top. They had needed extra scenes in case and let the extras write their own raps. They explain it on the movie extras I believe.
Eminem greatest rhymer since medieval Shakespeare
damn, thats pretty wild he just took homie's personal life and used it against him at the final battle.. you're a gangster? your real name's clarence!
Anthony Mackies real name isn't Clarence and he didn't attend Cranbrook. I looked it up. I know... I'm disappointed too.
313!! FUCK FREE WORLD!! LOVE THAT PART
KEEP IT UP STEVIE
8 Mile is a really good remake of Purple Rain
16:52 RIP PROOF!
I remember seeing the interview with Marv, and he was talking about how he was at the hip hop shop or somewhere just watching the shit, and got pissed, he was like "i'm here and no ones gonna call me out?" and dudes were like are you fucking crazy? do you know who you are? shit was hilarious
Stevie, you HAVE to react to “Good Die Young” by D12.. I promise you will LOVE this song, it’s truly deep and tells an entire story!
Im a huge D12 fan and that song does hit me in the feels more than most. Kinda like the How come track
I reckon it was free styled, if you look in the background where future and that is when Eminem says “look, snoop dogg just got a fucken boob job” even lotto turns around laughing
Prob best hiphop movie ever. A movie thats about rappin. Love this back in day. Great story.
Bruh those bars from Em were so 🔥 from that battle 😂
Especially that one first verse when he was pretending the mic wasn't working. Eminem is the goat!
Since you mentioned Michael Jai White, it'd be great to see you two side by side 🤭
Stevie , I comment as I watch your reactions haha. I said at the start, Eminem write the verses. And I’m at the point now where yuh are asking if Eminem wrote the verses 😆 that’s awesome
let's be honest Em didn't have to do anything most of his career he could've stopped after 3 albums and lived comfortably maybe 2
The battle between Xzibit and eminem didn't age well but goes hard
Have heard Rap Olympics? This movie was based on this and his life.
TBH: I do believe that the raps seen in the movie were written by someone, at least for the actors it was written. As far as the behind the scenes session, I think that was all freestyle.
As far as the actors go? I don't know if Em wrote their bars, or if someone else did it. But I know that Em would work with them on how to deliver their lines properly. And knowing Em, he probably had a few freestyle bars and some pre-writen lines that directly connected to the movie. So, when it came to looks or dress, that was probably freestyle, but when it came to what they did or said in the movie, that was probably written before he got in front of the cameras.
eminem asked craig g for help on writing and coaching the other actors but he didnt know whatv they here gonna fully say
Nice theory
He is a genius at battles i would cowert in the corner
Baltimore is so diveese friendly. It is 60 percent black but everyone gets along. Yes murders happen alot but not racially. We have alwyas all hung out together i am so proud for my city for that.
There is a reason why I won an Oscar.
Eminem posted the full unedited version of Jerome Kapp85 doing the final 8 Mile battle, brought me back to this video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
