The Toyota CEO was referring to the Lithium battery. I am not sure people remember or are aware of what the Obama administration did (being Obama did.) Obama placed restriction on how EVs and Hybrids were able to be used in the USA. VW came out with a 2 cylinder diesel engine to charge a battery and would travel 207 mile on a gallon of fuel. One gallon. In the USA it would go approximately 198 miles on a gallon of fuel. Obama said if you build a Hybrid as a charging only, then you could only have one gallon of fuel to use no matter if it was gasoline or diesel. Well, we don't want EVs due to numerous things, but range is a big reason before charging for a large amount of time. Two things here: 1. these are going to be huge. Slightly smaller than the Hummer EV. 2. Most modern large EVs are body on frame; its the easiest way to fit battery packs into the structure. Rivian is a body on frame with Unibody elements for example
Bringing back the iconic Scout brand is brilliant, making them EVs is just stupid. They're dead in the water unless they make gas- or diesel-engined models. I would never take an EV off-road, their range is too limited with no hope for refueling. The new "bronco" has been another ill-conceived attempt at cashing in on an iconic SUV. Looks similar to a proven winner but, like Jeeps, they are junk. I'll keep my 60 year old Scout because I can strap on a 5-gallon gas can and get home, it only requires a very basic set of SAE tools to work on almost everything - and it keeps appreciating in value.

.. but lucky for you, these companies always lie about numbers. Tesla Truck was supposed to start at $39K remember..?
..and dont worry, the one you'd want, aka the Dual-Generator 'Off-Road' model will be a six figure vehicle for sure.. so good for you if you want to spend house money on a car, but its bad for the rest of us who want cars, but those six figures would be better spent towards a house, or feeding a family for a few months.
Will it be midsize? ( like ranger, colorado, tacoma) or fullsize ( like f150, silverado, ram)
Too bad there’s no two-door convertible
Two things here: 1. these are going to be huge. Slightly smaller than the Hummer EV. 2. Most modern large EVs are body on frame; its the easiest way to fit battery packs into the structure. Rivian is a body on frame with Unibody elements for example
I'll pass on anything with a battery. Hydrogen is the next best bet.
The headlight design is too close to a shitty Hyundai Santa Fe. They need to pull more from the old design of the Scout.
I hope the prices is not High.
And comes with a gasoline engine
These are VW/Rivians. Using IH Scout names is a disgrace to the legacy.
Its better, but evs are not feasible unless we're going to mine other planets anytime soon. What part of "open pit mine" and "slave labor" don't people understand?
electric. period. with a briggs and stratton to recharge the battery. not interested.
pure ev dogcrap, first deep water this goes through its done. And what are you actually going to scout? the nearest charging station? Going to be a bunch of pavement queens. What will the winch mount to? beautiful truck but should've offered a all gas option along with the ev and hybrid. Also dreaming if you'll touch this for under 70k and it'll sink like a rock in the mud, has to be heavy when all electric. Im betting it will fail
Isn’t scout part of ford
Why can’t we get a real gas motor? EV’s don’t work in the Rocky Mountains in the winter!
Bet they don't fare very well in a German winter either unless you live in a city and keep it in a heated garage. Oh wait, Germans can't heat anything because they cuddled up to Pootie! 🤣🤣
Nope! Lost most at EV!
How much did Scout pay you to blow them, @Ideal Cars?
Reservation placed in the first three minutes they went live.
I hear EV I run as fast as I can while humming some V8 noises
Making it an EV is a loser. Try crossing a river and getting your batteries wet since they are in the floor of the frame.
You do know ppl iffroad there rivians hummer ev and cybertrucks right and cross rivers all the time dont talk shit when you dont know shit😂
@@mcsike7264 ok. I guess your version of crossing a puddle and my version of crossing a river are different.
@@nunyabiznus5428 rivians can go in 3 feet deep water the cyber truck even have a mode for it
Thanks to Volkswagen scout is back, but now Volkswagen is going down so scout will fade back into history again. Parts are hard to get and the price before dealer bs is 65 grand, goodbye scout 😂
Scout says these will be direct to consumer, so no ridiculous dealer markups.
@ Due to franchise laws, direct to consumer won’t happen. They know that, thats why they partnered with VW. But if that was the case, they should partner with Amazon 😂
Too expensive, too late, nothing new here. Just another techy click bite that’s way over engineered. VW should have put a 4 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission. Something anyone could afford. They will sit on the lots just like the Bronco, and grand Wagoneer.
If this is just a VW, why would I trust it more than a VW? I wouldn't buy a VW EV.
It not. It is rivian software and has a completely new design. They're likely using the Bosch motors that rivian did not use.
“looking for who ask?”
It will be dead on arrival in two years.
Scout made a toaster - what is happening to us :)
With dealer lots full of EVs they can't sell, let's come up with a new EV that won't sell. Makes sense to me.
They're staying out of dealer networks and are selling direct to consumer like Tesla, that alone is a huge draw.
actually, the fact that this has an option for a range extender automatically makes it a special class beyond the standard EV and yes that includes all Tesla models. Its an EV first with the option to use gas. Should help win over many that are still nervous about changing technology. More EV manufactures should have this as an option.
The Scouts actually also come with an EREV option with a gas engine range extender.
@@faheemabbas3965 it is still an EV
nobody cares
Another overpriced unwanted EV that nobody asked for. This is a VW EV that will be no more reliable than their other EV's.
What is the % of owners that will take these 80k trucks off road
Their under 60k...and i take my 125k truck off road all the time.
I don't think this one can off road like Jeep or Bronco, it more like a rigid look SUV
Disappointing😞😞😞😞😞
How so?
@@horuslupercal3872 ...I grew up with scout. A non~gasoline or diesel engine is just disappointing in my book.
@@warsteed357fair enough but it's look like an EV that embrace the classic car aesthetics with modern technology and functionality so the one of few EV that I would like to buy.
You lost me at "Now under VW."
Hybrid ev's are all crap....they catch on fire in your driveway parked turned off. This is a propaganda commercial. They are fucking up....they won't sell. More corporate crap!
Can you show me that this happens more than with gas cars? You know gas cars do to just no one cares so it isn’t reported
You must live in China, fucken stupid human
@@horuslupercal3872 Gas cars catch fire, usually electrical fires and they can be quickly put out. EV"s burn to the ground regardless of what you throw at them.
This thing will blow any gas powered vehicle out of the water. 0-6 in 3.5, let's see your gas guzzler do that.
@@richardshuster1480 Ah yes, the reason everyone buys a truck. The fast 0-60 times.
