Hi, i was wondering if we can make a website using ms word. Like, is there any way we can make add to cart funtional button, so that when a customer hits that button, that product gets added to the shopping cart page in ms word?
Hello - Microsoft Word is primarily designed for word processing and document creation so it would not support what you are trying to do very well. You can use Word to insert hyperlinks and images in your documents but it does not have the tools to create a functioning web based shopping cart with dynamic content, interactivity, and other features. I would suggest checking out Jotform: www.jotform.com/pricing/? or if you need to set up a web-based form, you can look at Microsoft Forms or Google Forms. For a true shopping store online, you may want to check out a website builder like SquareSpace or Stan Store. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Works for me unfortunately one of my clients has Adobe Reader only and says when he hits the Submit button it does nothing. Is this a Reader problem or a user problem? Thanks
Hello! It may be related to the client's version of Adobe Reader. Here are some tips: PDF Version Compatibility: The PDF form may be created using features or functionalities that are only supported in newer versions of Adobe Acrobat. If the client's version of Adobe Reader is outdated or doesn't support the features used in the PDF form, the Submit button may not function as expected. Security Settings: Adobe Reader's security settings might be configured to restrict certain actions, such as submitting form data. The client should check their security settings and ensure that they allow form submission actions. Digital Signatures: If the PDF form requires digital signatures for form submission, the client may encounter issues if they don't have the necessary digital signature features enabled in Adobe Reader. To address the issue, the client can try the following steps: - Ensure that they are using the latest version of Adobe Reader available for their system. - Check Adobe Reader's security settings to ensure that form submission actions are allowed. - Test the PDF form in a different PDF viewer or in Adobe Acrobat (if available) to see if the Submit button works in other environments. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Hello Sharon. A great video for a detailed understanding. Just wondering if the process would be same in case one wanted to save the filled pdf into SharePoint rather than sending email?
Good video but ive encountered a few issues with outlook. You have to be in the old version of outlook for the submission to work which is a pain. I guess quite a few people work in the new web based version these days so its hit and miss until Microsoft update things.
Hello - sorry to hear you are running into issues when trying to use Chrome. If the submit button works fine in Adobe Acrobat Reader but not in Chrome, it's likely due to differences in how each application handles form submissions and interactions with embedded scripts. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try: Ensure Compatibility: Make sure that the PDF form is compatible with web browsers like Chrome. Sometimes, forms created in Adobe Acrobat might use features that are not fully supported in all web browsers. Check JavaScript: If the submit button relies on JavaScript to function, ensure that JavaScript is enabled in Chrome. You can check this in Chrome settings under "Site settings" > "JavaScript". Update Chrome: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Chrome. Sometimes, issues with form submissions are resolved in newer versions. Test in Different Browsers: Try opening the PDF form in other web browsers like Firefox or Microsoft Edge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to Chrome or more general. Review PDF Settings: Check the settings and properties of the PDF form in Adobe Acrobat to ensure that the submit button is configured correctly and is set to perform the desired action. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching my videos!

Is it possible to have that submit button but not send to a pre-programmed email address? Allow the individual filling out the form to send it to whom they wish? Use case: We have employees filling out an HR form and then they are to send that completed form to their Manager...so the email will be different from department to department. Thanks!
Do you put a space between mailto and your email address? Some say put in space and some don't, does it matter? I also cannot get my submit button to work with a chrome browser.
Hello! Here is some additional information you may find helpful.. When inserting a "mailto" link as the action for a Submit button in a PDF form in Adobe Acrobat, there should be no spaces between "mailto" and the email address. It should look like this: mailto:youremail@example.com There should be no spaces before or after "mailto." Using a space in the "mailto" URL may cause issues with how the link is recognized and processed. Regarding the issue with the Submit button not working in Google Chrome, here are a few troubleshooting steps to consider: Check Adobe Acrobat Version: Ensure that you are using an up-to-date version of Adobe Acrobat. Outdated versions may have compatibility issues with modern web browsers. PDF Compatibility: Check the PDF's compatibility settings. Go to File > Properties > Initial View and ensure that the PDF is set to open in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat. Browser Compatibility: Different web browsers may handle PDF forms and actions differently. Verify that the issue occurs consistently in Chrome and not in other browsers like Firefox or Microsoft Edge. PDF Security Settings: Ensure that your PDF's security settings do not restrict form submission. Go to File > Properties > Security and check the settings related to form submission. Web Server Configuration: If you are hosting the PDF form on a web server, confirm that the server is properly configured to handle form submissions. Some server configurations may block or interfere with certain actions. Testing with a Different PDF: Create a simple test PDF form with a Submit button and test it in Chrome to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to your PDF or a broader compatibility issue. JavaScript: If your PDF form relies on JavaScript for form submission or other actions, ensure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings. Chrome may have stricter security settings for JavaScript. PDF Viewer Plugin: Check if Chrome is using a built-in PDF viewer or a third-party plugin. Sometimes, switching between these options can resolve issues. Clear Browser Cache: Clear your Chrome browser cache and cookies, as cached data can sometimes interfere with form submissions. Submit Method: Confirm that the Submit button is set up correctly with the correct action (e.g., "Submit a form" action) and the correct URL for the form submission. If you continue to experience issues with the Submit button not working in Chrome after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Adobe Support or Chrome Support for further assistance, as it could be related to specific settings or configurations on your system. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching my videos!

Thank you very much. But seems to work only with Acrobat. If I want to send the form with PDF Expert, the form is not attached to the email client. When I click on the Send button in Apple's Preview, nothing at all happens.

When you choose "Submit a form" in the Actions tab of button properties, can you enter the URL email link to a paypal button? So when customers submit order form, they can pay on paypal?
Hello, yes you should be able to do this with these steps: After choosing "Submit a form" Click on the "Add" button to configure the submission action. In the "Submit Form" dialog box, choose "URL" from the "Submit to" dropdown menu. In the "URL" field, enter the URL email link for your PayPal button. This link typically starts with "mailto:" and includes the email address and any additional parameters specific to your PayPal configuration. For example, the link may look like this: mailto:customer@example.com?subject=Order&body=Please%20proceed%20to%20PayPal%20to%20complete%20the%20payment. Customize the subject and body of the email message as needed, providing instructions for the customer to proceed to PayPal for payment. Click "OK" to save the changes. Now, when a customer fills out the form and clicks the button, it will trigger the "Submit a form" action and open the default email client on their device with the PayPal email link populated. The customer can then proceed to PayPal using the provided link to complete the payment. Remember to test the functionality thoroughly to ensure that the email link and PayPal integration work as expected. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Hello! In Adobe PDF forms, the options provided for a submit button to set up as "Outlook email client" or "Webmail" are specific integrations that work with those particular email clients. If users don't use either Outlook or a supported webmail service, there is no direct built-in option to configure the submit button to use any email client. However, you can still set up a custom JavaScript action for the submit button to open the user's default email client with the PDF form attached as an email attachment. This approach allows users to use any email client they prefer as long as it is set as their default email application on their device. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
If I create a form and save the template on my computer, can I send out in an email from my computer and have it be able to always be sent back to me with the submit button? I’m asking because I want to digitize our hiring documents and save them on my computer. Then email out the attachments when we hire?
I am re-submitting a question that another commenter asked, because I did not see an answer to the question: How can I make it work for others no matter what email platform they use?
Hello! In this case, you would need to use JavaScript when setting up the submit button. Here are some steps to try: - Select the submit button, right-click, and choose "Properties." - In the Button Properties dialog box, go to the "Actions" tab. - Select "Mouse Up" from the "Select Trigger" dropdown. - Choose "Run a JavaScript" from the "Select Action" dropdown. - Click on the "Add" button to open the JavaScript Editor. - In the JavaScript Editor, copy the following code: // Custom JavaScript to open the user's default email client var cTo = ""; // Replace with the recipient's email address if needed var cSubject = "Form Submission"; // Replace with the email subject var cBody = "Please find the attached form submission."; // Replace with the email body var oDoc = this; // Generate the PDF file stream var byteArray = oDoc.saveAsBytes("FormSubmission.pdf"); // Create a new email object var oMail = new ActiveXObject("Outlook.Application").CreateItem(0); // Set the email properties oMail.Subject = cSubject; oMail.To = cTo; oMail.Body = cBody; // Attach the PDF file oMail.Attachments.Add(new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Stream")); oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Type = 1; oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Name = "FormSubmission.pdf"; oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Open(); oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Position = 0; oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Write(byteArray); oMail.Attachments.Item(1).SaveToFile("FormSubmission.pdf"); oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Close(); // Display the email oMail.Display(); Please note that the above JavaScript code is specific to Windows and uses the ActiveXObject to interact with Outlook. It may not work on non-Windows systems, and other email clients might not have a similar automation mechanism. To accommodate users on different platforms or email clients, you could consider providing an alternative submission method, such as saving the filled form locally and instructing users to manually attach it to their preferred email client or to use a web-based form submission on your website if applicable. Remember to inform users of the alternative submission options and provide clear instructions on how to submit the form using their preferred email client or method. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

I did everything as instructed and had no problems until the very end when selecting Microsoft Outlook. There was a pop up that said: You need to create a Microsoft Outlook profile in Microsoft Windows. Go to the control panel panel and open mail. (which I did) Click show profiles and them click add. I clicked add , and entered my email address that I normally use in Outlook. I then went to preview to test the submit button. Another pop up appeared with the following message: An error occurred while sending mail. If you are not sure how to proceed further, you can save your form and return it manually using your Internet email service. I have Outlook 365 and host with Go Daddy. What is the fix?? Thanking you in advance.
Hi Sister pleasure to ask you again Sister can it be possible to make repeat content in pdf fillable , we need it when we want to fill more than one education fields in table . Hope you sharply answer me. Thank You !!
Hello! Yes, you can have form fields auto populate in Acrobat. If you select a form field, copy it and then paste and place it somewhere else in the document, you'll notice it gets auto named as the same name with a number. Then when you test the form, you'll see that whatever the user fills in, it will auto populate all the other copied form fields with the same field name. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Very nice video. Is it possible to use my own SMTP information? I want to hard code the recipients' email address. All I want the user to do is to fill out the form and press s submit button....afterwards they would see a message letting them know that the form has been submitted. Is this possible? Thank you.
Everything works great until I run the test. It doesn't give me the same options as your video and then I get message "preparing to send to" but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for watching my videos! Adobe Acrobat may prompt you to run a form in a browser for submission for several reasons. Here are some common scenarios where you might encounter this message: 1 - Form Compatibility: The PDF form you are trying to fill out and submit may contain interactive features or scripting that require a web browser to function properly. In such cases, Adobe Acrobat may recommend using a browser for the best user experience. 2 - JavaScript Enabled: Some PDF forms utilize JavaScript to perform certain actions, validate data, or enable dynamic features. Enabling JavaScript in a web browser is essential for these forms to work as intended. If your Adobe Acrobat settings or your PDF viewer settings do not allow JavaScript, you may be prompted to open the form in a browser instead. 3 - Online Submission: The form you are working with may be designed for online submission through a web server or a specific online platform. In this case, using a browser is necessary to connect to the server or platform for form submission. 4 - Form Restrictions: The PDF form creator may have set specific restrictions or preferences for how the form should be filled out and submitted. If these preferences are set to use a web browser for submission, you will receive a prompt to do so. To address this issue: 1 - Try a Different Browser: If you're already using a browser, try a different one to see if that resolves the issue. Adobe Acrobat may have compatibility issues with certain browsers. 2 - Enable JavaScript: Ensure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings. Many interactive PDF forms rely on JavaScript to function correctly. 3 - Update Adobe Acrobat: Make sure you are using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve compatibility issues. 4 - Contact the Form Creator: If you're encountering this issue with a specific PDF form, you may want to reach out to the creator of the form or the organization providing it for assistance. They may have specific instructions or recommendations for form submission. 5 - Use Adobe Reader: If you are using a third-party PDF viewer or a web-based PDF viewer, consider using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Reader, which are specifically designed for handling PDF forms and may offer better compatibility. By following these steps, you should be able to address the issue and successfully submit the form as required. I hope this helps resolve the issue.

I have created the fillable PDF with a submit button. On a PC it works great, on a MAC, when you hit the button it just sits there. A second question is there a way that you can hit the submit button and they don't see the email to hit send, it would just send?
Thank you. Great Video.
Hello, how do we protect the form so it is still fillable.
What if the form includes pictures and is to big( files size) to submit to an email
Hello, if the completed form file is too large to send via email, I would ask users to save completed forms on a secured share drive. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
When you choose "Submit a form" in the Actions tab of button properties, can you enter the URL email link to a paypal button? So when customers submit order form, they can pay on paypal?
Hello, yes you should be able to do this with these steps:
After choosing "Submit a form" Click on the "Add" button to configure the submission action. In the "Submit Form" dialog box, choose "URL" from the "Submit to" dropdown menu. In the "URL" field, enter the URL email link for your PayPal button. This link typically starts with "mailto:" and includes the email address and any additional parameters specific to your PayPal configuration.
For example, the link may look like this:
mailto:customer@example.com?subject=Order&body=Please%20proceed%20to%20PayPal%20to%20complete%20the%20payment.
Interesting but what if the user doesn't use Outlook or webmail? Can it be set up to use any email client? If not, then I can’t see the point of it.
I am re-submitting a question that another commenter asked, because I did not see an answer to the question:
How can I make it work for others no matter what email platform they use?
Hello! In this case, you would need to use JavaScript when setting up the submit button. Here are some steps to try:
- Select the submit button, right-click, and choose "Properties."
- In the Button Properties dialog box, go to the "Actions" tab.
- Select "Mouse Up" from the "Select Trigger" dropdown.
- Choose "Run a JavaScript" from the "Select Action" dropdown.
- Click on the "Add" button to open the JavaScript Editor.
- In the JavaScript Editor, copy the following code:
// Custom JavaScript to open the user's default email client
var cTo = ""; // Replace with the recipient's email address if needed
var cSubject = "Form Submission"; // Replace with the email subject
var cBody = "Please find the attached form submission."; // Replace with the email body
var oDoc = this;
// Generate the PDF file stream
var byteArray = oDoc.saveAsBytes("FormSubmission.pdf");
// Create a new email object
var oMail = new ActiveXObject("Outlook.Application").CreateItem(0);
// Set the email properties
oMail.Subject = cSubject;
oMail.To = cTo;
oMail.Body = cBody;
// Attach the PDF file
oMail.Attachments.Add(new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Stream"));
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Type = 1;
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Name = "FormSubmission.pdf";
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Open();
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Position = 0;
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Write(byteArray);
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).SaveToFile("FormSubmission.pdf");
oMail.Attachments.Item(1).Close();
// Display the email
oMail.Display();
Please note that the above JavaScript code is specific to Windows and uses the ActiveXObject to interact with Outlook.
@@SharonSmith thank you so much for your reply, and your detailed instructions. I, and I am sure others, greatly appreciate this additional information.❤
How do you create an “Add Page” button that generates a new page?
Help!!! I really love your videos, they are so easy to follow, but this time I do not have an actions tab on my button properties. Can you help me fix this?
Is there any way, to open an e-mail preset with object, e-mail addresses, body's e-mail and attachmentS too? Meaning: you button should have a Javascript code able to link files from your PC directly as attachments of the e-mail ?
Nice work. Can u do another video on Adobe Indesign form creating pprocess?
Thank you! I will look into it.
My form is telling me bad parameter..what does that mean? What do I need to do? THANK YOU!
Hi Sister pleasure to ask you again
Sister can it be possible to make repeat content in pdf fillable , we need it when we want to fill more than one education fields in table .
@@SharonSmith You probably didn't understand my question

How do You add a repeat row button in Adobe Pro?
I do not see prepare form?
Everything works great until I run the test. It doesn't give me the same options as your video and then I get message "preparing to send to" but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
then I sent a test to my personal email to try it out and got this error:
"Form data cannot be submitted to provided server"
When I download the file it is not letting me submit the form or press the boxes how do I fix this?
Why is it telling me that I need to run the form in a browser to be able to submit?
Thanks for watching my videos! Adobe Acrobat may prompt you to run a form in a browser for submission for several reasons. Here are some common scenarios where you might encounter this message:
1 - Form Compatibility: The PDF form you are trying to fill out and submit may contain interactive features or scripting that require a web browser to function properly.
To address this issue:
1 - Try a Different Browser: If you're already using a browser, try a different one to see if that resolves the issue.
