  • Paint your own collage paper for a day of creative fun!
    This video is part two of a series of videos using the same color study.

    Part 5 - • Creative Collage Made ...
    When painting your own collage papers, it’s a great idea to use a single color palette and then go deep with your color study exploration of those colors.
    In today’s episode, I’m using the same four paints that I used in part one of the series and painting all types of papers with them using paint brushes, the catalyst wedge, brayers, and more.
    Whether you’re brand new to mixed media art or you’ve been creating for ages, painting your own collage paper is always a great way to spend a day 💜

      Thank you Big Heart! Doing a series is so fascinating - I learn so much because I have to be very intentional with the process while filming. If you haven't watched the series I'm doing right now, I'd recommend it. 🥰

    I just love the freedom of just painting without thinking. Your ideas are perfect for making a grid collages which are cohesive with the colours. I’m going to give this a try 😊. Thank you for sharing your ideas, I watch all your videos!

    Gorgeous colors Jackie! Do you let each layer dry before putting on the next color?

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Shalinee! Yes, no, sometimes. If I remember correctly, in this video, I did not wait (too long) for the papers to dry because it was a color study, and I was interested in exploring what I could make these colors do. If I'm working on a piece where I want clarity and distinction between the colors, I let them dry completely. And then there are times when it is a combination of both. I usually base my decision on instinct - and sometimes, I'm wrong. 😂 Thank you for asking such a great question! 🥰

      Yes, I'd love to! I'm not always perfect with it, but I do have some pretty interesting (and effective) organizing techniques for the mountains of paper I paint. Thank you for letting me know what you would like to see. 🥰

    just wondering what is that rubber brush you are using. you do not mention it. very interested in it, what is it and where do you get it? Thanks

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  10 місяців тому

      Hi Lu - great question! The rubber brush is a silicone basting brush normally used to baste things in the kitchen or BBQ. Not only do I love the marks it makes, but it cleans up VERY easily because acrylic paint barely sticks to the silicone. You can find these brushes anywhere that sells kitchen items, and I have linked to one in the video's description under the supply list. Thanks for watching and commenting 😀

As soon as I do, I'm make a big announcement, I'm sure 😂. I have created a few finished pieces in some of the past videos, and have planned for more in the new year. Thank you for asking 🥰

    Jackie, how do you use your painted papers

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  6 місяців тому

      Hi Barbara! I use them in a lot of ways. Primarily in collage, as backgrounds for paintings or drawings, and for reference (technique or colors). Sometimes I make them into gift wrap, cards, and grocery lists. And sometimes I even throw them out 😮. Hope that helps 🥰

  • @talkeducation5118
    @talkeducation5118 10 місяців тому +1

    Inspiring as usual! I was wondering if the papers that are created that aren’t necessarily archival, once used in a collage with a finish on top, could that become archival?

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  10 місяців тому

      Great question! And the truth is that I don't know for sure, but here's my educated guess. I think that any paper (that's not archival) will degrade no matter what. Adding them into collage and sealing them would probably slow the process, but it wouldn't stop it. However, the process could take a very long time, maybe longer than your enjoyment of the piece. Again, just my thoughts, and I hope they don't stop you from creating with abandon 😍
