    I’m not gonna lie I think the foam background will just get decimated. Try something that’s just coated in cork back or something cause if tarantulas will tear them up a monitor will definitely go to town

    Great job! Just so you know, tge spider plant is because of its shape. If you look at the way it comes out of the pot, it like tge shape of some spiders (especially tarantulas). The other neat thing about spider plants is, they have babies!!! After a while you may notice a stock come out of the plant and dangle down. About the width of a juice box straw. At the end grows a very little "spider" -a miniature version of the plant. It won't grow too big until if you like, pluck it off its "silk" and put the end of that baby spider in water. It will grow roots over time and then you can put it in a pot or another enclosure. Or, you an just leave it hanging from the mama plant. Spider plants are very hardy. They are an excellent plant for a beginner who wants to learn about caring for plants. Tge lighting you have set up is fine. No problem. They arent too picky about light. It is ok to let the substrate get a bit dry between watering if you forget to water it. But they don't like to be soaking wet all the time. Tge amount that comes from the mister should be ok. If the leaves all start to get droopy and maybe soggy that means too much moisture. But like I said before, Spider plants are very hardy and can take whatever is thrown at them pretty well. Good luck!

    • @jeannettefrye5086
      @jeannettefrye5086 3 роки тому +2

      Awesome description, covered it quite well. Only thing I could add is that you get more spider babies when the plant is root bound

      Just be careful not to let it get out of control! The runners can grow right into carpeting or upholstered furniture or any little cracks or gaps in the wall or floor, so clip them before they get to that point. Voice of experience😅

      While the heat from the lower enclosure WILL rise to the upper one, this is not an issue, provided Petko uses a thermostat for the enclosures. The thermostat would prevent Despacito's enclosure from getting any warmer than usual by simply shutting off the heat more often

      @@seanrallis6714 your right plus the wood the cage is made of resists the heat quite well in my enclosures even with 200watts on a thermostat the bottom of the top enclosure only gets to about 30°c and just gives the inhabitants of that enclosure another place to stay warm

    Power output doesn't matter PAR (photosynthetic active radiation) does. It seems you used mostly low light plants not sure about the tree but if you have too much light they will defiantly show by sight. Looks amazing either way hope it grows lush for your new pet. I would be more worried about the effect of the UVB on the plants than the led though truthfully. But that should also show in the plants health.

    You want to aim for cross-ventilation. One opening at the bottom and another at the top opposite side of the tank. This way the warm air will vent out at the top while pulling fresh, cooler air through the bottom ventilation inside the tank. The way you have set the ventilation is kind of inadequate right now in that it does not help to dry up the tank after misting because no fresh, cool air gets sucked in once you put in the glass panels. Unless you add additional ventilation into the lower part of the panel, of course.

    • @rill9000
      @rill9000 3 роки тому +4

      This design should be ok as the gap between the panes of glass allows for air to pass through the bottom aswell. If it fogs too much definitely add some ventilation, but this setup should be more than adequate in terms of airflow

    For future enclosures you might wanna check out epoxy resin and @SerpaDesign Tutorials on Background. Especially for Monitors, it can make sense to use epoxy for sealing, because it is a lot more resistant to their claws, but, since its going to create a very, very slippy surface, im pretty sure that aboreal monitors would prefer a corkbark background or something along those lines. Great Video, really like the new style. I think it lets you focus more on doing what you want to do while filming, and on the information you want to talk about. Keep up the great work 👍

    Looks great. Just note that the Bromeliad Vriesea will die in about 2-3 months. Vriesea is a species of bromelia that only bloom once then it dies. From younger plants they make pups or offshoots that then become new plants or the flower drops seeds for new plants.

Unfortunately I had to sell it when I moved. Not sure if its available where you're at, but it might be worth checking out. The water feature had a plexi glass window to see the fish and other life and silicone along with the pond armor worked perfect.

    For the background, I fear a monitor will rip it apart with its claws, you just used silicone and soil, I don't know what Felix background was covered with, cause I just watch for about a year, but it looks a bit weak for such sharp claws, but we will see. Take that knobby tree stump and use it upside down where that big cork is down below! You know it will be awesome! I am also trying not to judge about putting the side panel in before the back panel. Lol. You did a lot of work and it looks great. At least you got it anyway. Also, green tree monitors in EU are so rarely bred in captivity. Almost all are imports, even if you get it from a major seller. It took a long time to get them sustainably bred in the US and Canada and even Dayyan's Sabzi and Basil turned out to come from first generation clutches that had some parasite issues. It's just the nature of trying to get these animals established. They sell fast and it's a big pressure, no fault of the conservationists.

    i love the pre intro. you are so good at picking awsome music for your tour segments ^^ second. i keep plants of the family like your vine and you can basically keep them in water(hydroponic). so you could put little containers in the wall and just make sure they have water always. it'll also keep the "tank" humid. they would look so cool draped on the back walls. also if it's a 225 view maybe make sure to have plants that also make it look good from the other side so it doesn't look like the back of the enclosure?. sry for the long message i'm just super excited about this project ^^ it looks so freakin' good already ^^

Your bearded dragon and your chameleon would be happier too if you would give them more light but if you want to keep monitors you will not get happy with this light situation i think. Get some metal halide lamps for it. Monitors are extremely active and need power!! And they get it through the light. this fluorescent tube will not make it. Greetings

    Talking about a tree monitor’s enclosure, foam really is not a good long term background. Monitors are good enough to destroy foams in just a night or two…but having that much plants in the enclosure… maybe it will have more stuff to explore and look at.
    But after all, It’s really nice 👍

    NICE!
    🌞As far as lights go, don't you need a hotspot for green tree monitors?
    🌴As far as plants go;
    🪴The bromeliad is going to get knocked over by the green tree monitor unless it really roots to the rock
    💧Watering the pathos and the spider plant is going to be a pain. Can you set up a mister to get water into their pots? that would make life much easier.
    Cheers and good luck,
    Chris

    Great enclosure, great show. keep it up petco. Shame about the Monday only videos but I do understand why. I think the way u did voice over worked well for this large scale build but little builds keep original.

    Looks awesome but with my personal experience with monitors you want only one visible (glass) side. Especially tree monitors are highly strung and aware so having it feel like it's too out in the open might have drawbacks.

    I like this new style of voice over video. Good decision! Maybe a bit too much talking at the beginning, in my opinion, but I understand why 😁 also I thought maybe the spider plant was a bit too close to the light but it could have been how it looked in the video. They don't require an abundance of light or water but are probably one of a few plants that could handle it. Nice job all round though, I look forward to the next one!

    I Love the voiceover style, I think it would also maybe be easier for you to record? that way you just do everything you want to do without getting too distracted and then you can explain afterwards, right?
    I do miss the Friday videos but we will get used to Mondays only ^^ Now I just super stalk your instagram for updates XD

    Petco! You should get snake locks for the sliding glass door for your monitor they can get to be very strong and can push the glass doors open even if there is just a small crack!!! But snake locks on both door will help keep your new buddy in his proper home!!! Good luck excited to see him/her!!

    Beautiful :) but I'd add more pants to make it look ever lusher like a jungle :)) maybe more bromeliads and some air plants or climbing tropical plats :)

    Hey Petko, I really wanna send you some fan mail but I can't find the address I should send it to anywhere. Do you have Is a p.o. Box?

    Have you considered that monitors like most lizards require uv rays to be truly healthy? I have studied reptiles for years, & would say eventually you may want a bigger enclosure after some time.

    Would you care to explain your set up?
    How you have all the outlets on timers, how you built the shelves, and the lights you used? I am a big fan of your setup and want to make my own version one day! I admire your work :)

    Filming style is good... 70% as normal, 30% voiceover.

    Very nice enclosure, but some tips:
    Add more ventilation
    Add some sort of mesh to the ventilation thingies you have, Monitor lizards are very smart and can nearly escape through every little hole, especially when thei are small.

    Hi! I have several terrariums that I have built! All of the plants you planted should do very well Where they are. Buuut I think if you add more pothos vines or even a philodendron vine in the back on the ground and train them to climb up the background that would be stunning and fill in that space at the bottom.

    I think I like it better when you talk during the building. The voice over is a bit too formal for me. When you added the plants and talking I can tell how passionate you are about it and I just love hearing the enthusiasm in your voice!

    This video was awesome. I like the voice over just as much. I just don't like when it's a long video with no talking at all, just music while u work. U didn't do that in this video at all, just my thoughts on it. I'm really liking his the new new new dark den is turning out!
