It's amazing how personable Felix has become considering how antisocial he was when he first came to the Dark Den. I'm ever hopeful Chips will make a turnaround as well.
Absolutely NOTHING dumb about it my friend!!! I've been a musician for 40 years and that's one of the reasons I love playing so much!!! What other art form can so quickly evoke so many different emotional responses? Music is truly powerful and a very necessary part of us living a healthy and stress free life! Yeah, that intro actually got to me as well, that's why I came to the comments, looks like you beat me to it though, lol!
Music is the only universal language in the world. Even people who have Alzheimers, can be treated with music to regain some memories. There is nothing else with such a power
Good tip for future, soak plants in water for few hours before replanting them, then don't water them for few next days. That way plant will have water to survive first stage and drying "old" dirt will force plant to spread fresh roots around to look for water. Plant will recover faster and will also grew stronger roots. Great job!
Felix definitely deserved the roaches, he was a true hero holding onto that plant! You really are a great animal keeper, their needs all come first and that is very clear with you!
Shefflara was the only plant i could keep alive. They also call it "The umbrella plant". I loved your thumbnail. I've never enjoyed you show any affection to Felix. I just adore him. 🦎❤
@@mcohan6854 yes, I hope he thinks about it, or read the comments. That's why fence posts break at ground level, moisture will get to it and then his enclosure will have to be redone
Hi there, I know you do your best but I really feel kind of sorry for Felix and Despacito in that basement with black walls you know. My green iguana Pedro does climb all around my living room wich is very sunny and has a lot of plants and now that the days are getting wormer he comes and goes in the garden to see the sky and take sunbaths in the grass. Well I had him for years now and I trust him, even if once he went to say hello to the neightbor and almost gave her a heart attack :) love your channel keep up the good work, cheers !
As a tip, you don't have to remove all that dirt from the root ball. Just take an old knife and cut vertical lines around the root ball going deep enough to cut the surface roots which encourages new root growth. 👍🌿🌿
You see Petco you just have to show Felix and then you get ten thousand million subscribers and everything that's what I did I had a chameleon passed away I miss him dearly that's why I always say Felix Felix Felix cuz reminds me of him thank you Petco
Hopefully your plant is hearty since you disturbed the roots. When given more room, they stretch out their roots themselves. I question why excess water would go out the side holes that are covered with soil. Wouldn't it just saturate the soil in the upwards direction? Seems like the entire pot would have to be supersaturated before the water were to exit from the side. Well, you wanted humidity so I hope it works perfectly. I would have put the holes on the bottom and set the pot on a rimmed tray with a little bit of gravel in the tray so there's room for the water to drain, but some plants are hearty. Worst case and it doesn't work, drill the holes in the bottom without taking the plants out, if possible, and try the tray. Most plants give some sort of clue if they're being over or under watered - dead leaves or yellow leaves, it depends on the plant. Good luck!
Ah Felix! I love that you are so concerned about his age and taking that into consideration and adjusting his enclosure to protect him is so wholesome! I love how much you care :'D ( Writing this comment I have a junior Tokay gecko on my back lol)
Petco leave the soil on the roads you don't want to do that you can break the ruts and cause stress to the plant leave the soil on the roots take a big enough hole put the plant down in cover the top with soil watering and you should be good
The dead wood tree looks amazing but the umbrella plant needs to be thinned out to expose it and help the light to go through it. Good job now paint it.
I've been watching you for over a year now. Just wanted to say I plan on getting my first tarantula all because of you. There awsome and have actual personalities. I'm not afraid of spiders anymore either!!!.
The white stuff is pearlite, it's good for lots of things, especially as a bottom layer in desert enclosures to regulate humidity when you actually need slightly lower humidity. That's normally not a problem for many people unless you live in a subtropical or tropical place, like me, and want to keep things more balanced. It's also good for keeping humidity perfect in incubation containers. Just check out how Reptiliatus uses it. for his gecko eggs or how Snake Discovery uses it for their snake eggs. It also doesn't mold! It's also not good for eating, in case you are thinking of it for a substrate for terrestrial lizards. They like to taste and eat dirt and gravel sometimes because they aren't very... smart.
In the future you might want to consider vermiculite instead of perlite. I've found perlite is dusty as hell, floats to the top when you water your plants and turns an ugly yellow. EDIT: Also, you don't need to break up the root ball. Pro tip... plant all your plants while still in their pots. Then, when you're happy with where they are, pull them back out, remove the pot, and drop them straight back in the hole. You can then rake the top half inch of substrate around with your fingers to blend the soils together to make it look nice.
I saw in a zoo video that chameleons lose their tongue dexterity if it is not trained regularly. When it does, the way back is difficult for them to use their tongue properly again. Very nice new home for Felix, I am sure this will make him happy.
Also, that's a money tree. basically a bonsai that you don't want to give a lot of room to grow. I'd put it back in the pot with filter cloth and drain holes in the bottom. then plant the the whole thing. Don't give it a feeding mostly straight water.
Petko, the amount of work, dedication and love you put into your new den is amazing!!! That is so impressive! And Felix is such an adorable and beautiful character
Been watching you for a long while now! Love your vids and thanks for all you do. I’ve wanted to have/keep T’s for a long time. I got 2 jumpers, Phid Audux about 2 months ago but yesterday I got my first T, Grammastola pulchripes. So excited!! Just a baby maybe 1/2 inch. Thanks again! I’ll continue watching you, Namaste 🙏🏼
Awe Love his new set up for Felix what you need is some vine from the petstore that black rope and put it around he can climb on it too would be cool for sure your the best at set up cages thanks so much love Felix as he look like mine
One thing you could do to add walking paths to Felix is getting some thick strings (naval rope) and tighten It around the branches or using some kind of glue to make it harder
I still remember this little guy always swaying back and forth behind limbs to try to hide from you. It was like playing hide and seek and hiding behind phone poles. Really like the new dark den and Felix's new setup.
You don't have to remove that much dirt from the roots. That will most likely lead to you killing or harming at least part of the plant. All you're meant to do is loosen up the root ball a bit before replanting. Just a tip for future replantings.
Should've ended with an 8 feeding time-lapse! Also I'm quite glad to hear Felix is beginning to tongue his prey more appropriately. Would be neat if he eventually manages to shoot it completely. I had to Carpet Chameleons growing up and it was always fun to hold the box of crickets in front of them and watch their tongues come and go.
I just want to hear you recite all Chekov's lines while building your enclosures lol I love your accent! And I love your reptile room! I would love this!
you could put one of the lights on the wall to get the lower ends of the plants! Also.. Im curious, how are you going to keep your floor dry when watering the plants??
One day I will have a 'Felix'. I'm going to start working on his enclosure like you have yours before then though. It looks fantastic as well as very functional for him.
Amazing how far your making it man keep up the great work!!! I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning hopefully expos open up soon or at least hopefully you go to some soon!! Thanks for the great content🙏🏽💯
Can u do an update for those two large communal enclosure. Specially the balfouri, wanna see how the slings are. If they made a separate hide or just went in.
Never remove substrate from the roots with your hands, hands can destroy the roots because of sweat and salts... just tap the roots gently against the ground and shake them lightly, and you will get every substrate removed without any damage 🙂
my veiled chameleon died yesterday, he wasn't eating or drinking for 3 or 4 days, he was doing well when I first got him but something happened that made him go down hill and i'm not sure what it was.
Dude, did you mention that the water from the pot will get out the holes- on the floor and under the pot? There is no kind of coaster or something like that. Maybe you should have done that before planting 🙈 Cool enclosure improvment beside of that! keep it up!
Felix doesn't go outside that perimeter at all? I know he was climbing on your molt board. Did he escape from his old "enclosure"? How do you maintain humidity?
Great try gona look great but chameleons actually prefer the hight witch Is why he keeps trying to get higher my panther loves being at the top of the room it's always his go to
“Thank you for the renovation, peasant. Now give me insect”

A tongue twister

I'm worried, that substrate around the bottom of that dried wood might cause it to rot.
Yeah maybe he could have treated it with something first? Varnish or polyurthane? Idk im not a wood guy
