Thank you Russel 😊
😆 unhinged! I prefer the term unique! 😆 keep up the good work mate 👍
🤣
Top tip: you can roll the wire back onto the reel to save wasting the few feet that are in the line when changing your wire, I only worked this out a few months back after years of mig welding 🤦♂️
I don’t think you mentioned Craig McLeans channel - performance classics unless I missed it Dave . If not absolutely check it out :)
Thanks, I'll look at that
Hi dave. Good. Fun. I did a montecarlo. Very. Rusty. U guess u know. Lol. I must say. After all this work the escort deserves a good paint job. I paint my own cars in. A single. Garage. I use 2 k. Then flat polish.
I pretty much follow. The same Chanel’s.
We bought. The same. Anorak Cheers. Clive
Hi Clive, yes, the Monte of mine was very, very rusty, at the time a gentleman called Chad was running a small business "the monte hospital" he was a fountain of knowledge and parts, before ebay and Google.
When low on Motivation: watch channels like this or Fitzee's or japhandscustoms...and I immediately feel like going back to the garage! Good tip about the waste mig wire!

Wow, thank you! 😊
Watch your videos and the retro rebuilds viva hc one ,will have to look for the other ones thanks again 👍
A welding guide would be good as it seems you have tried most techniques.
Dave , thanks for getting me motivated to get on with one of my mk1 escorts. Just caught up on all the videos very enjoyable 👍Cheers
Great to hear!
Matt is the lads name from urch fab. I watch pretty much the same youtubers as you dave and I noticed you didn't mention soup restoration. If you haven't stumbled on that channel yet you are in for a treat
Ah yes, I have seen some of his stuff, his stop motion filming is epic!!
Another brilliant video Dave, some good questions there loved your wife's answer to the motivation question,I will bear that in mind,I think I've hit a wall many times,so that will help, look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks Alan, I'll have to come and see your Sierra project 😀
@@DavesGarageuk Hi Dave you are more than welcome to have a look, keep the videos coming.
Thank you Dave really enjoyed your answers, have watched lots of your videos as I am doing an Escort myself, super helpful, what part of Wales are you in?

Hi Stu, it's going to be white with blue rs2000 stripes, well thats the current plan anyways. 😉
great video guys I've personally learnt a lot from your videos , I struggle a lot with motivation as my cars arnt at home and agree that knowing that needing to upload something defiantly helps , keep up the good work guys
Although us viewers think we can weld i am sure we could learn a lot more from your welding technique and your finesse to welded panels, Cheers Dave thanks for great Friday night vid
Great channel.
thanks dave
Your doing a good job mate
Excellent Q&A. Very informative, you've done some of my favourite cars Dave with the MonteCarlo and HPE, I wasn't driving at a time when I could have got one of these and couldn't afford one when I was. Would have loved an HPE Volumex.
Thanks, yes, the supercharged HPE was a piece of mechanical art 😊😊
Brilliant both off you 👏🏻
Thanks for answering my question’s! I think your very much better at what you do than you give yourself credit for Dave
Keep the motivation 💪🏻
Thanks Mick 😊
Great work gents, always look forward to new Dave's Garage videos. Bodging?! Wash your mouth out!
🤣🤣
Hi Dave, you've covered a lot of bases for everyone in this video. Just in case it helps anyone else, Trev's Blog is another excellent channel to watch and learn from. As there seem to be a lot of welding questions, this is what I have learned so far. I bought a Sealey Supermig 150 welder, and it has been pretty much OK, but you are completely right about the coarse settings, if I had my time again I would buy the RTech. I have always used 95/5 Argon/CO2 mix, this is because I went on 3 car restoration courses run by Bolton College and that's the gas that was used there. I buy it from a company called Adams Gas, I think it is also called Hobby Gas, there seem to be lots of stockists nationwide and the first bottle used to cost about £95, then about £40 for a refill of 20 litres I think. It is a handy size to live on the welder. The problem is, you sell yourself very short, because your work is the product of 6 car restorations and lots of practice, and is pretty much first class. I would say to anyone thinking of having a go, don't expect results like we see on your channel straight away, it takes lots of practice. Also I don't know whether this has happened to you, but I have had phases where my welding has been turning out really good, almost on automatic pilot, then you have a break for a while (in my case because of the motivation issue!) then you come back and do some welding and it is rubbish and has to be done again.
Hi Bob, thank you for your comment. I do find my first bunch of welding after a while away is a bit rubbish, I blame it on rusting wire, and I'm sticking to that 😊😊
Excellent video. Dave, you are far too modest, you can turn your hand to anything and produce superb results. Most people struggle on without a particular tool or buy one, not many people stop mid restoration and build a chassis jig or a chassis spit/ turnover device or build a motorised bead roller or produce jigs for individual chassis sections. You may not be a proffessional car restorer, but as a car restorer you are extremely proffessional!
Thank you Neil, that's very kind 😊
Excellent Q&A Dave. If you ever need an extra 3rd hand, please let me know. You are doing what I would love to do. Good luck.
I'll keep that in mind 😊😊🤣
Brilliant Q & A video and thanks for mentioning my question its helped me out i was also struggling with 0.8mm wire look forward to your next video dave and great that russel is watching your videos and commenting on them you are great at this restoration work mate and now have a much deserved following 👍
Thank you Andy 😊
👍
Really enjoyed the Q & A Dave and Ade. Always interesting to hear someone elses methods and tips. Over the years I have often thought my mig welding some days wasnt quite as good as I liked and thought was it possibly due to humidity. I never considered the supply and demand at different times of the day so now when its not quite how I like it I am blaming the power supply and not my age and eyesight lol. Very good point !! Great channel and great to listen to your take on things.
🤣🤣
thanks for the Q & A. the two of you are doing a fantastic job. wish i lived closer as would love to join in and help out .
Thanks Ant
