A part of me believes they used parts of an unused script for the third Nolan movie, that ended up being TDKR. There are similar elements here, with a deep conspiracy in Gotham waiting to be discovered - in Rises this is the Harvey Dent cover-up. Riddler positioning himself as a champion of the working class against the rich much like Bane did. Bruce Wayne being a recluse that hasn't been seen in public for a while. Catwoman becoming an eventual ally and romantic interest for Batman. There are scenes like the police chasing Batman from the GCPD building, that could've easily been a conceptual scene from Rises. A part of me likes to imagine an alternate version to Rises and merge the two movies into one as the true sequel to TDK.
We're always stuck out to me is that this guy could have said what he needed to because he knew he was going to die but instead he just sat there and whimpered
I interpreted it as it being a release of hatred. The yell he makes is him engaging his anger, whilst the sigh is the release of him having accomplished what he set out to do. The tail end of rage, perhaps.
Maybe out of nervousness. Remember it's his first kill. So he was nervous and after committing the crime he calmed himself. Also a good detail: when Riddler hits the mayor with the tool, you can see how sloppy he is hitting, it's his first time with that, even he accidentally threw it. Was a really nice detail of Dano and Reeves.
@@Madheim777 I think he accidentally threw it because the last hit, he chucked him in the head so hard, it ended up flying out of his hand. Plus I think he screamed in agony because probably the mayor reminded him of Thomas Wayne when he was running and how Wayne made a foundation of lies for Nashton and the orphans, so he probably got that flashback in his head playing and probably felt like he was getting revenge somehow on Wayne even though the Mayor was involved in the scandal that Riddler was seeking to expose.
