It had that superb graphical style and premise that was intriguing... but for a great looking game, there was tough difficulty when it came to the puzzles 😇🕹️👌
CADAVER is absolutely as challenging on the Amiga as HEAD OVER HEELS on the Commodore 64. I had this game for my Amiga 500 back in the early 2010's. And it was so challenging, i never finished the whole game 😹. I have also noticed, that this music + sound effects 🎵🎶 composer also worked on GODS - which was one of my favorite games on the Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.
I feel that I would have certainly enjoyed this game back in the day if I had the Amiga. I've always enjoyed games where you run through dungeons, fight monsters, solve puzzles, and collect treasure. And the main character is a dwarf? Even better. Dwarves are my favorite fantasy race... and what I usually choose if given the choice in an RPG character creator.
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer I'm more of a retro gamer... but there are a few modern games I like. This is one of them. If you ever want to play some DRG, please let me know! My favorites are probably the driller or engineer... but I honestly like playing any of the characters! They're all fun! I'm not that good at the game, but I enjoy playing. My mother likes to play, too. She's surprisingly good at it. LOL
I had this game back when it first came out. It felt like the natural successor to Knight Lore on the Speccy. I wasn't and still am not any good at isometric games but they are a challenge I enjoy all the same.
I struggled as a kid, it wasn't until one of my friends came round who'd somehow managed to complete it that I could finally start figuring out the puzzles, with his help. Then I became hooked on the game 😇🕹️👌
Over here in the US "cadaver" - a dead body - is pronounced with the emphasis on the second syllable, ca-DAV-er. I always find it interesting to hear how other english-speakers pronounce words, and the different names we come with for the same things, like boot vs trunk or bonnet vs hood (on a car) etc. Have a good one! And if you don't hear from me beforehand, Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and everyone else here.
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer After putting out a new video almost every single day, you deserve a break. Enjoy your time off and let's hope 2025 is an improvement on this one...
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yes, some of the puzzles were really difficult. But I remember that it was in some cases possible to skip solving a puzzle to open up a passageway as intended and instead stack things from your inventory in a pile so high that it could be used as a staircase over it. :)
"Whether you're a puzzle solver, an arcade lover, or just someone who enjoys watching greedy dwarf pinch his way through a castle - Cadaver has something for everyone" 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
Nice review! Personally I have always called this game "Cad da Ver" and not the dead body name. The box art name suggests this with its two capital letters and the wavy lines, that "d" is also standing out on its own. Only the Bitmap Bros know I guess. 😂
Its however you want to pronounce it I guess... only in modern games do they generally pronounce the game within the game haha... back in the 90s it was all guesswork 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamerYeah it definitely helps if they say it on a title screen or something lol. It was once know as SEE-GA until Sonic MD went SAY-GA.😂
I spent hours playing the demo of this from an Amiga Format coverdisk. It's one of those games I always wanted to like more than I did.
@@deanolium Perfect summary of my thoughts about the Game, too.
Very true 😇🕹️👌

I love the art. For some reason I seem to love the look of all the Amiga games.
Theres definitely a certain charm about the Amiga games, indeed 😇🕹️👌

This and God's now live on Evercade as part of the Bitmap Brothers Collection 2 cartridge, and they are the Amiga versions. 👍
Yeah Bitmap Brothers team were pure class! 🎅🕹👌
I like its isometric art style so much!
I think graphically, this game was awesome for 1990... Bitmap Brothers games always had style! 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Ouh! I missed it was from the Bitmap Brothers, man - Speedball, Chaos Engine, Xenon... they were among the best!

I'm a big fan of Gimli from LOTR! What a great character 🎅🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yeah! Gimli is awesome! I'm a big fan of dwarves! Probably one of the reasons why I like Deep Rock Galactic so much! LOL
What a game that is! I played that a couple of times online and loved it 😇🕹️👌

Bitmap brothers new how to make games look awesome with their graphical style 😇🕹️👌

I think the majority of isometric style games from the 80s became absolutely iconic! Head Over Heels was one of my favourites at the time 😇🕹️👌
What a goldie!! Loved it!
+1 like from us! Keep up the good work! 🙌🐺
Much appreciated - glad you're enjoying these nostalgic moments from our gaming youth 😇🕹️👌
This reminds me of The Immortal mixed with Landstalker (both on Genesis). I have a soft spot for isometric games
I have a soft spot for The Immortal! That's also on the channel... I was hooked on that game 😇🕹️👌
Always confused this game with Heimdall as a kid. Both very similar looking games.
Both on the channel now! Heimdall was another classic 😇🕹️👌
The scream of the first creature you killed haunts me 😀
Was a strangely scary sound indeed! I remember the first time I played it and it gave me a fright! haha 😇🕹️👌
Had this on Amiga as a kid. Never got far..but enjoyed the attempts

incredible game, but very hard and overcomplicated...
It does seem very complicated - could have been an absolute classic, had it not been for the difficulty... however, still a decent game 😇🕹️👌
Never heard of but I like the graphics. I’d play a modern procedural generated rougelike that looked like this any day.
I love a decent isometric roguelike game - it would work perfectly with this graphical style 😇🕹️👌

The enemy death sound haunts my dreams
I agree! That scream of death was pretty haunting indeed 😇🕹️👌
I loved this one and played it a lot but never managed to finish it. It's hard and unforgiving with but great graphics and atmosphere.
Definitely unforgiving, especially with the taxing puzzles! 😇🕹️👌

One would have assumed a game named Cadaver would be more violent and gory
Or... relating to a morgue at least! 😇🕹️👌
No subtitles are available in the last two videos? 😢
Yeah the auto sync wouldn't work but I'll get round to adding them soon hopefully and let you know 🎅🕹👌
If I had a dollar for every time I gave up on a game because I would rather toss my joystick, I could buy a bunch of roses for a greedy dwarf.
Haha how romantic 😍🎅🕹👌
Never played cadaver but just one look at it you can tell its a bitmap brothers game.
Yeah they have a very distinct and crisp graphical style 😇🕹️👌
Yea i got lost in this one and forgot it existed until now, the puzzles was abit to much
The puzzles were very zany indeed! Some not even logical hah 😇🕹️👌
looks great, not tried it
Graphically superb, can get a little frustrating especially as the objects 'move' as you walk into them, which was a bit strange haha 😇🕹️👌
