Modern AMD (AM4 socket, Ryzen) are faster, far more energy efficient and use faster DDR4. 150$ sounds like a good deal and it'll work for sure, but you'll be better off with a Ryzen setup. If you gaming demands aren't high-end (AAA titles, 4k resolution, maximum settings) then you'll do just fine with something like this: - Ryzen 3 3200G (about 95$) - A nice B450 motherbord from ASrock, Asus or similar (think 60$) - RX 570 4GB (around 150$ or half used) - 2x 8GB DDR4 3000/3200Mhz (around 2x 35$) - 500-ish GB SATA SSD (50-60$) - Windows 10 Home/Pro x64 (20-30$) - Case and Power Supply with some fans This is based on the assumption you'll want good performance at a decent price, the good ol' bang for buck. @@emilypeters8888 as an owner of a DeepCool Gammaxx 400, AND a DeepCool Malestrom 120 CLC, I can confirm that those both cool way more than you'd think. All of these are under $60, and those air coolers, at $30 to 40 depending on sales, are at the top end of what you *should* be getting for an air cooler on desktop, consumer grade parts. Maybe throw in some comparable parts from Thermaltake and Cryorig for good measure, and compare the lot to the stock fans on various chips?

@@kalebjensen1262 I disagree, on the CPU. The upgrade was warranted. My i7 6700k is nearly bottlenecking my 1080 in games like BF1. I have a feeling it's due to the speculative execution patches causing performance hits. In 2016, BF1 used 70% of the CPU, and now in 2019, it has spikes over 80%, up to 90% IIRC. Of course, this evidence is anecdotal, but I've also noticed slowdowns in several other areas. Blender absolutely destroys my CPU too. I'll be holding on to the 6700k for a couple more years, but I might jump ship at ryzen 4 or 5th gen, 6th at the latest.
I feel you dude. I bought a 6600k+970 back in 2015 and I've had to upgrade it a bit since just to keep up. I think a big problem was that Intel never drops prices on older stock. You couldn't pick up a Haswell i5 for i3 prices when Skylake dropped. Nvidia also wasn't offering 1080p 60fps high settings cards for >$150. Back in the day a "budget" AMD build would have been something like an fx 6300/8350 and an r7 370/r9 380. How times have changed.
IMO building a killer PC on a budget is as big of a thirll as building a custom high end beast. The art of finding the best price/quality ratio is so satisfying.
The fact the the R5 2600 is now available at 119$ literally blew my mind. That's the price for a pentium a couple year ago and now you can get a damn 6 core with hyperthreading, thanks AMD for saving our a$$es 🤝
The R5 2600 is insane for that price, you can easily run any game at 60 fps with decent gpu and it should hold long enough so when time comes to upgrade all you have to do is get better gpu and thats it.
The problem with these type of builds is that they get completly obsolete in 1 year. Much more with next-gen consoles coming soon... This will be ultra low-end quick. Plus that RX570 uses almost 200w, wich is scary and awful perf vs watt.

I’ve been on the journey of building my first PC. I have a tight budget for it and I’ve been breaking my head this past two weeks, researching all over the internet, physical stores and suggestions from people to choose the proper components for a PC that can be reliable, stable, fast, for design, for gaming and with room for updates, all without breaking the bank. And when I thought I finally got the choosen components, ready to buy them, I then discover on a forum or on a random UA-cam comment that it’s not compatible with this other component or that the gpu will bottleneck or that this ram causes issues with the mobo, etc. So I had to step back and rethink my list all over. I did that like 20 times already! Then I started to get extremely overwhelmed with the amount of options and information and I thought that this research instead of doing me good it started to doing me bad, especially because it’s been two full weeks of me researching day after day and pretty much not thinking on anything else! So this Sunday afternoon, decided to completely relax and not do any research today, just lay in bed and watch some UA-cam... then I found this video (bless UA-cam’s recommend section). And. Holy. Cow. This is it. This is the answer I’ve been looking for all these days! No wonder why it has a million views! Trust me I have seen dozen of other build videos and all of them left me with a sour taste. But this one and the reasons of why you choose each part is what made this the perfect rig for a budget PC in 2019. A perfect intelligent/budget/valuable build right here! Will order this setup ASAP! Or maybe I can wait a few more weeks since Black Friday is around the corner and get this pieces at an even lower price! Anyways, sorry for the long comment. You’re awesome, Jay, Sir! You earned my biggest gratitude and a subscriber too :’)
1080p 60 hertz on High-ultra settings can actually be done for so cheap now. Almost the standard performance benchmark now is 1080p over a hundred Hertz making 144 Hertz monitor smooth. If people are fine with 60 hertz then you can go damn cheap and still have a great experience
The nice thing about buying a Corsair case is that Corsair also sells good quality fans. SSD prices have also dropped,,,big time,,,and an SSD drive is one of the best ways to speed up your system no matter how old it is or how little you spent on it. Jayz also made a good point about matching the memory to the CPU that you buy, a good match will always work better. Keep up the good work Jayz!
Honestly when adjusted to inflation budget builds would probably be cheaper in the future. Budget builds were not this cheap in the past, and they weren't as good in terms of bang for your buck.

@Tidder T I'm going with mid range card for a few reasons: 1. Even brand new RX 570 is cheaper than used GTX 1070/1080 2. My monitor is only 60 hz and mid range card can push around 60 fps even in high settings in AAA titles so there's no need to get more fps. 3. - A nice B450 motherbord from ASrock, Asus or similar (think 60$)
- RX 570 4GB (around 150$ or half used)
- 2x 8GB DDR4 3000/3200Mhz (around 2x 35$)
- 500-ish GB SATA SSD (50-60$)
- Windows 10 Home/Pro x64 (20-30$)
- Case and Power Supply with some fans
This is based on the assumption you'll want good performance at a decent price, the good ol' bang for buck. But feel free to up/downgrade :-)
You should do a follow up video showing people how to overclock this build so that new gamers will know how to push what you just suggested to them :D
And how to overclock the memory
Warm Soft Kitty it does make a difference when u don’t have a overclock from factory like the 2600X
OC is overrated
I think OCing would be nice but given the diminishing returns on ryzen maybe do it cheaply with a gammax 400 or hyper 212 variant, so you get you're moneys worth.
@@emilypeters8888 as an owner of a DeepCool Gammaxx 400, AND a DeepCool Malestrom 120 CLC, I can confirm that those both cool way more than you'd think. Hyper 212 and a MasterLiquid 120 Lite should both be included.

John Doe same
I feel you dude.

The R5 2600 is insane for that price, you can easily run any game at 60 fps with decent gpu and it should hold long enough so when time comes to upgrade all you have to do is get better gpu and thats it.

I stopped to think, "Who the heck needs 2T storage!?"

I have that much...

7 years of games and I'm at 3 tb.
I run Plex off mine and have filled 6.5TB of the 8TB I've got

I'd like to see how cheap it would be to make a decent 1440p rig. Like a 3600 paired with a 2060 super or 2070 super (not entirely sure if these would work well with this res but that's the point of the vid). Especially with 1440p 144hz panels getting cheaper and the introduction of gsync compatible. To me it seems like 1440p gaming has gotten much more accessible in just the last year. I think it would be cool to show people that you don't necessarily need a top of the line pc to jump to 1440p.
I had to buy a 2080ti running with a 9700k to run fps games at 144hz 1440 high settings

That's what I'm currently building waiting for the mobo to be updated and sent out currently. Are you using 8gb card?
I dig this video man, nice. And yea a fully detailed true OC guide for this would be cool.
Xqrement Been doing the same for the past few days. This video was perfect.
1080p 60 hertz on High-ultra settings can actually be done for so cheap now. Almost the standard performance benchmark now is 1080p over a hundred Hertz making 144 Hertz monitor smooth. If people are fine with 60 hertz then you can go damn cheap and still have a great experience
These days I look at the minimum frame rates. With high refresh freesync monitor and tv my main goal is be able run above 48 FPS minimums.
Keep up the good work Jayz!

this pc was half the cost of most people's builds and runs ultra settings. Amazing!
For 60hz is cool, but 60hz is old tech now. Most played games on PC are multiplayer titles where you want near 200fps+ for max performance. Things are getting more and more competitive.

it's because we're getting ready for true next gen. 2020 will be a special year in gaming
Yes and most people will have to upgrade because these parts won´t cut it for next-gen. That´s why this stuff is cheap now. Plus that RX570 using almost 200w is scary to me. Yes I do care about perf vs watt.
@@MrCakeBone I capped the max voltage to 975mV on my MSI Armor OC without changing the clocks and it runs stable stable with less power consumption. Totally fine.
But I actually care about perf vs. price and that's why buying a midrange option every few years saves you a lot while sacrificing a little. Except if you need the cutting edge features (RTX, 4K/8K,...). Playing on 1080p with 60fps is totally fine for most people, without the urgent need to upgrade to next-gen once it's out.
@@magicalsnek I would still prefer pay 50€ more for a GTX 1660, but that´s me. It uses 100w and overclocks like a champ, puting it 10% away from a RTX 2060
@@MrCakeBone Then do so. The benefit of having options is that everyone can decide. Everyone who can and wants to spend more money will do so, but the point of this video is to show that you don't necessary have to.
Yep, bring on the PS5 and Xbox 2. That is always when devs start to pull out tricks they have been keeping on ice.
I created my own list of best components for cheap gaming PC and then I stumble upon this video. Literally every part in this video is same as part from my list. Maybe expect GPU. I still consider buying used 580
@Tidder T I'm going with mid range card for a few reasons:
1. Even brand new RX 570 is cheaper than used GTX 1070/1080
2. My monitor is only 60 hz and mid range card can push around 60 fps even in high settings in AAA titles so there's no need to get more fps.
3. If I buy used 1080 and it will fail I'll lose a lot of money. Mid range won't hurt my wallet that much if it fails.
4. And finally I'm tight on money rn. Have enough to upgrade rig but not enough to get decent card upgrade. I'll probably buy something better future but for now it's just enough
I agree with you in terms of budgeting dollars but thinking about upgrade ability down the line. I had to start with Ryzen APU, no graphics card and decent psu, little memory but fast, and kept upgrading when good prices came around.
