I can’t get over how immersive it is to watch an old VHS movie in VR on an old TV. I watched a couple of cartoons and stuff and got lost in another world. It’s hard to explain unless you’ve tried it. The amount of nostalgia that flooded into my brain. It felt like I was a kid again in the 90s on a Saturday afternoon in my room. This is what VR was truly made for in my opinion. I wish they would release this as a full package on steam and fully explorable house. Make it easier for everybody to experience this for themselves.
I wasn't alive back then, and I feel like I've missed out on the best era to be a kid. I'm so jealous you guys get to put up all these cool decorations and reminisce
I would literally burst out in tears to look back at my childhood (mid 1970's to 1980's) in VR. I have the Quest 2, and it's the one thing that I want. A way to go back in time.
@@thebread9186 That wouldn’t be allowed. Because of the way that you need to get the ROMS, and the BIOS files, that wouldn’t be possible and it would be an instant lawsuit.
@@SoapCkat I’m not sure, but probably not. EmuVR is not legally allowed to include ROMS and BIOS files within their app. You have to find them yourself and add them, which wouldn’t be possible on standalone oculus because of the way their filesystem is structured.
The next thing they need to do is have a whole house you can customize. Add your living room or something. I didn't have a tv in my room as a kid, so all my gaming was in the living room.
Yup! I would like to make a custom room, i grew up in a trailer in the 80's and 90's so this place is high class for me lol. I had a 17 inch tv in my room around the release of FFVII though so that was good, PERFECT timing especially considering grinding levels had just entered into my life. 😆
The VHS tapes are absolutely amazing too. I've been finding old recordings from channels I watched as a kid and putting them in the game and it's a crazy experience
It's by far my favorite thing. We didn't have cable a lot so i watched TONS of VHS tapes, and my step dad recorded 3-4 movies per tape. He left me with 5 full office boxes or more of VHS tapes, all with 3-4 movies a pop on them and idk how he managed it lol. I never spoke with him when i got older.

The 1995-2004 were awesome. I miss hanging out and chit-chat with friends at the park. I miss sitting at the table while playing yugioh with them and cracking jokes while eating cheap gummy bears we walked 20 mins to buy. Thinking about my childhood brings me both joy and sadness at the same time.
Bitter because you're stuck in 2022, joy because it was an awesome time! Looking around at the current state of the world is enough to depress any 80's or 90's kid. Truly sad.
My story is complicated but I wish I could have enjoyed those years more. I loved the things that made the era great but I hate what my life was like at that time too.
It's fun to watch you soak in the experience. Born in 94, I can remember owning a lot of VHS tapes with movies recorded straight from the TV. Some of them would even end abruptly, to be interrupted by a home workout video.

The commercials are honestly my favorite part now. Just wish I could play multilayer but I don't have friends which I guess is another dose of nostalgia lol 😅
If only we could just live in memory and filter all the bad stuff. I'm so glad I heard about this. Even as a late 2000's kid, I felt immense nostalgia watching this since I grew up with retro media. EmuVR likes 480p videos, there are plenty of ways to convert them down. i personally just use VLC. Keep up the awesome work and you've earned yourself a subscriber!
I think people are looking to retreat into a better time, or at least the memory of it. Things are so crazy man. Thanks so much for telling me that, i was wondering why my 80's music video VHS was red line free while others were not so that's a HUGE help going forward. I must be insane as well. I have put together a few VHS Tapes (in my room) of classic tv shows and I also threw in commercials. I use MY room just for watching TV like it used to be. Each tape is anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours. It's just like watching tv in the past. I love this !!! I set up my room to a 70's style since I was born in 1960. I am slowly but surely uploading those mp4s to my Mega cloud drive. If anyone wants those, let me know and I'll put up links. I already did the work, so I might as well share them. But the Ghostbusters episodes with the commercials!!? That’s a really cool idea. I haven’t setup any VHS yet. It does have Netplay! You need to know the person to join someone’s room
Man, the nostalgia hits HARD with this. I don't have a great PC, but I've got an HTC Vive that I'd never bothered setting up and now I've finally got a reason to try it. I mostly play on PSVR these days, and I've often felt that I love VR because it reminds me of how the videogame industry was in the mid-90's when it was shifting into 3D and nobody knew how to do anything. All the games were janky as hell (like a lot of VR, or at least PSVR), but there was an unbridled creativity and wild feeling of experimentation and wonder (also like VR). So to me, a VR experience that can allow me to transport myself back to that period of my life and relive those games in that environment... I dunno it just seems perfect. Keep up the awesome content! 👍
