@@brianidiartefitness that’s the average duration of most massage therapists due to burn out or injuries. It’s a very physical & we don’t get paid enough! Especially when you work for someone else. It’s a challenging career. Good question!!!!
@@MassageTherapeutics915 Thank you for replying, appreciate it! From your experience, would you recommend it for someone who is interested in going to school to learn?
@@brianidiartefitness I’ve been a massage therapist for 36 years now. I wouldn’t have it any other way. However you must take care of yourself physically, mentally & spiritually. Don’t overdo it by working crazy hours, or more massages than you can handle. Getting regular massages yourself & exercising! It’s all very important! If you love what you do, you will make it work! Best of wishes for you!
Fantastic content, thank you for sharing! I'm excited to incorporate a few of these into my massages :) My main problem now is that I have so much I want to do in what always feels like so little time haha ~ sometimes it can be tough, but that's what keeps it so engaging! Every massage is different
Exactly! You never give the same massage! And learning new techniques your clients appreciate it! Maybe just try one new technique each time. That’s what I do mostly. Give a 1 hour massage & focus a little extra time on whatever the client needs that day. They appreciate that detailed work! Good luck 🤗

I am a little confused. A pin and stretch of the hamstrings involves flexion of the knee and then slow manual extension while applying pressure inferior to superior hamstrings. You started with the knee in extension and moved into flexion while applying pressure inferior to superior.
You are very detailed & observant! Yes you are correct. I like to do pin & stretch distal to proximal & proximal to distal. During the editing he only showed when I started at the origin for the sake of shorter video. I was going too fast & didn’t show much of the flexion & extension of the knee. Thanks for pointing it out.
Bendiciones!
I have a video on sciatica. However it is difficult to self massage the piriformis. I do it while I’m standing. You can also put a tennis 🎾 ball against he wall & press on the buttocks.
Even out the load between their shoulders. Like a heavy backpack (or purse) should Not be carried on one shoulder. Puts too much pressure on the Thorasic outlet. You want to even out the weight on the back on both sides. Work trapezius, lats, rotator cuff & levator scapula. Also pec minor.
As a bodybuilder this is so incredibly painful to watch, just touching by myself my sore hamstrings makes me flinch 😂 but if one were to bear through the pain of the massage I guarantee the results would be amazing
The massage should not be painful! A good massage therapist would bring down the pressure to the client’s tolerance level. I hope you do get a massage or work them out yourself because your muscles sound hypertonic!
@@MassageTherapeutics915 Thank you for your answer! My muscles actually need a LOT of pressure in order for me to feel anything during a massage; hamstrings are the exception, so much so that I can't physically train them more than once a week
@@MassageTherapeutics915 my guess is that it's due to leverages and muscle fiber type (possibly fast twitch for the hams), which lets me do heavy romanian deadlifts (about 140kg for reps) while I must do lighter and more frequent work for quads (front squats and leg extensions) due to a chronically misaligned patella in both knees; I also don't do any direct adductor work because I don't feel it's needed on an aesthetics point of view
@@thevarva1520 you are a serious heavy weight lifter! 🏋️♀️ I assume it is competitive lifting. You just described why your hamstrings are tight & hypertonic. Since you can’t lift the same weight with the quads one side is stronger than the other. And the adductors! You don’t work them out as much because it’s not necessary for the aesthetics. All three (hamstrings, quads, adductors). Keep your pelvis stable. I hope they don’t cause a posterior tilt eventually!! Best of wishes for you!!!
I’m sorry I don’t understand your question or to what part of the video you are referring to. Are you referring to when I was massaging the hamstrings while she was supine?
@@MassageTherapeutics915 silly me, i wasn't clear. yes, it was in the beginning of the video where she was lying facing down, right knee bent, u asked her to "kick" forward, whilst u resisted the kick and massaged the hamstrings. i tried it myself and when i kicked forward, i felt the front of my thigh muscles contract and no reaction from my hamstrings.
Depends. It is a very delicate area. Besides having the carotid artery & jugular vein you need to be careful with the trachea. We do have a lot of small muscles there that in certain situations they need to be massages but you must be trained to do that type of work. I hope this answers your question. I wasn’t sure if this is what you meant.
As an artist and massage therapist, the drawings are so helpful to visualize the musculature! Thank you😊
