Lovely work Tim. i always like seeing how different people do jobs. Every day is a school day. However @ 04:01 it isn't quite true to say you cannot fit the later oil seals that fit round the guide top. I have just rebuilt a 1965 1098 head and used the later Mini gasket set which included 4 of those seals which I used for the exhaust valves. I also bought 4 'viton' seals as used on the last injected Minis for the Inlet valves. Belts & Braces. The key alteration is that the circular shrouds (p/n 2A545) that fits between the springs and the collars need to shortened as they have a shaped lower end that fouls the later oil seals. With that end removed (just 1/16th) the shroud clears the seal.
Hi.Tim not bad at all.2things.ive been building Morris minor engines and others.ive never seen oil on head gasket.and two I always just tap the top of valve stem with a hammer just to make sure the collects hav seated well.just thought I would mention. Kevin.74 Yr old engineer.
Thanks for the info. We oiled the bores thinking that would help on start up and I guess we got a bit carried away; do you think it will be an issue? Regarding the collets they appeared OK; here's hoping it works!
Dad jokes warning on this post, First Freeze plug looks surprised at being on the internet! Morris Minor has Minor ring issue on grindr..., Seals do nothing in spring!,
