    Just to let everyone know that the LS300 is now on Android tv 11 and can now output DD/DD+ surround sound from it's built in Amazon Prime/Google Play movies and tv apps via it's HDMI Arc socket and also the Optical output now outputs DD/DTS 5.1 surround sound finally👍

    Youthman...once again you hit with a video with the right people and awesome home theater tech. Derek's setup is AWESOME!! I have a relatively small dedicated home theater and I live in NJ 20 miles from NYC. For me...I followed the concept with the laser STP from Hisense, but man it is awesome and seeing you review a Short throw...I think a second time...that I know of...again you do some really great work...keep it up...Again Derek, AWESOME SETUP!

    • @stanleygarrett769
      @stanleygarrett769 3 роки тому

      Oh and I chose STP over Overhead because I didn't want to renovate further in the house my house and convenience with the exception of putting that free screen together, I'm gonna eventually build a cabinet for the remote controlled ALR STP screen with the reinforced backing. I have a full 9.2 setup and am considering upgrading my front DefTech Towers...again great work you are an inspiration to us all.

    This review was brought to you by Under Armour. Glad to see derrick back, nice review. If that's derricks set up I would just like to mention that the unit has a uninterrupted power supply. Ive heard if the power goes out with that unit on the heat will cause a lot of damage and not limited to the bulb exploding. Ive never had a projector, and I am not certain if that's totally accurate. However, for a 2000 dollar device a 150 dollar UPS isn't breaking the bank

    Epson's projectors tend to quiet down when you dial down the power of the laser. That does lower brightness, but might not be a bad tradeoff for movie watching in a dark room.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 роки тому +1

      The copyright owner gets notified from UA-cam when someone uses any of your content. The copyright owner was a Drone stock video company so they didn’t appreciate me using their video without paying $800-5000 per minute. They offered for me to purchase the 8 sec clip of theirs that I used twice for $150. Instead, I decided to purchase a bunch of clips from Storyblocks for $20 to use for this video and future ones so this does not happen again.
      Live and learn.

    I have this projector combined with a Vividstorm ALR floor rising screen. Curious as to what the calibrated settings were for dark room viewing (understanding that YMMV). At a minimum would be great to know which default color setting (ie Cinema, Natural, etc) was used for the final calibrated setting?

    • @hobbyav7922

      For HD SDR Rec 709 content the Natural picture mode is the closest for accuracy, i would also adjust the color temperature from default 7 to 8 and switch off Dymamic contrast and Noise reduction. Also adjust Detail enhancement all the way down to it's lowest setting to 0, sharpness setting leave on default 5. Brightness at 54 and Contrast at 43. Don't adjust the color and tint settings from their default of 50, as to set that accurate you need a Blue only mode and the EH-LS300 doesn't have that setting. Using a color filter to set the color setting isn't an accurate way to set color. Adjust the Light output setting to what you want depending on dark or bright your room is, at 80% it's very bright so if your watching in a dark room you will probably find 50/60% is enough.

      In any case, HD, 4K etc means absolutely nothing. Zilch, nada. It’s mostly marketing gimmick. Ok, let me rephrase that: it means a lot IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. The main ingredient is distance. That’s all. It’s same thing for image sharpness and megapixels in a camera. Means nothing on its own. It gets meaning in relation to viewing distance.
      So 4K being better than HD or whether necessary or not is a non-question. What’s the setup? What’s the viewing distance? That’s the first question to ask. The other follows.

      Optical output on the ls300 only does 2.0 pcm as stated in the manual so you will never get 5.1 sound from the Optical output. You have to use the Passthrough HDMI 2 Arc socket to get 5.1 sound from the ls300 and only when you have an external device plugged into the HDMI 1 socket as the apps on the ls300 only output 2.0 pcm. No worries. It's easy to answer read and answer every comment on your channel as you have under 500 subscribers. I could read and reply to every comment on my channel up till around 10,000 subscribers. Now that my channel is approaching 100,000 subscribers and over 500 + videos that people are commenting on each one of those videos, it’s just not possible. Be blessed.
      To answer the OP, there are only one set of settings inside the menu. My guess is that’s the Epson settings but they may be tied to the Android menu. Hope that helps.

      Anytime I mention budget, it’s in relation to the other products within that niche. When you compare it to UST projectors at twice it’s cost, yes it would be considered a budget friendly option. This would be based on US prices as international pricing would vary greatly.

      Australia must have a huge mark up for importing. In the US the LS300 is only $2,000 and the LS500 is $4,000 which is considered budget range for projectors compared to the higher end Sony's and JVC's 6,000 and up to tens of thousands. Screens also can range from a few hundred to thousands. I'm sorry that the pricing is crazy there. I have always wanted to move to Australia, mark ups on products is the only thing that has really deterred me.

    • @st170ish
      @st170ish 3 роки тому

      @@dillonquackenbush3895 Yeah it's all to do with scale of economy's, importers here may buy only a few hundred units whereas it would be many thousands there, thats why our wages are often a lot higher given the same job... and barely nothing is Aussie made any more our political parties have sold our souls to China.

    Would love a comparison with an 85" Vizio Quantum X. Since they are the same price accounting for the screen. A good head to head projector vs tv.
    I have a feeling the PQ of the Vizio would destroy the Epson without too much sacrificed in terms of size in a living room.

      It can accept 4k HDR/HLG via it's HDMI inputs, but then downscales to 1080p HDR/HLG. It doesn't have Pixel shifting, you would need to go for it's bigger brother the Epson EH-LS500 if you want a 4k Pixel Shifter.
