After further review, there is a safety feature that will automatically cut the light from the lens when it detects motion in front of it. So you can easily turn that feature on and not have to worry about anyone looking into the light.
The main difference is the LS800 is a short throw and the LS11000 is a regular projector. We have not found the actual spec on the panel for the LS800 but that looks right for the 11000
99% of people using this will have a separate home theater receiver with a Roku, Apple TV, Bluray etc to provide Dolby Atmos content. Plus what TV on its own actually does Dolby Atmos without faking it with tiny speakers.
Technically yes but we do not recommend ceiling mounting any projector like this. It is extremely difficult to get it in the precise position it needs to be
Technically you could be we highly recommend you do not. The screen will be fixed on the wall and you have to adjust things so precisely it is extremely difficult to accomplish and you will need a very expensive ceiling mount that allows for micro adjustments. Thanks for watching
We should point out it is extremely tedious to get the mount in the perfect position. You’ll need a very high end mount that allows for precise tiny changes. You also need to mount the screen upside down. While you can do it we do not recommend it.
@@AudioAdvice If ceiling mounted, does it have to be so close to the screen? or can it be mounted at the back of the room like a traditional front projector?
The simple fact the LS800 doesn't support Dolby Atmos via an eARC output is why I'm going to pass on this. I was really ready to buy this, but after getting confirmation it wouldn't be compatible with my sound system, it's an instant no. Maybe on the next model they release they'll include it. Also, the very fact the projection unit is ~$3500 and the screen is $3000, how in the world could someone reasonably justify pricing a screen nearly identical to the unit projecting the image?
Almost all of these that we have sold include an AVR that does all the switching and sends video to the LS800. That is the best way to use it in our opinion. Ambient Light Rejecting screens are very expensive to make. You can always use a white wall but that type of screen gives far better results. Thanks for watching
It really depends on your space. My center channel is on a center channel stand in front of my projector, which I love since it also hides the projector from view.
So bascially an advert for Epson. At the cost of this NON NATIVE 4K projector when paired with that screen you can have a much better image with a TV where the blacks are darker and you importantly get much better HDR. That said if money was no object I'm a sucker for a projector because for me they bring a greater sense of occasion when watching movies.
The projector has 4,000 lumens, so its a super bright projector which is part of the reason this version of ultra short throw works in rooms like this.
It has wireless with Android TV but we highly recommend you pair it with an audio system where an Apple TV or Shield could be used. Thanks for watching
Going to be interesting to see how many of these audio companies survive the incoming financial doom that is around the corner. Hang on people, going to be a wild ride.
From the Epson site, the footnote on the 4000 lumens- Color brightness (color light output) and white brightness (white light output) will vary depending on usage conditions. Color light output measured in accordance with IDMS 15.4; white light output measured in accordance with ISO 21118.
There are actually two things to be considered here where ARC is concerned. First, projectors have traditionally always been a video-only device. It's considered swankier than a TV, and people setting up one will nearly always pair it with equally bombastic sound that can only come with an AVR and dedicated set of surround speakers. IMHO Epson should NOT have even bothered including the yamaha 2.1ch speakers on it; that would have made it cheaper. That there is even ARC is a nice thought. Second, ARC is useful for introducing audio taken off whatever is being streamed from any of the apps on the LS800, to a connected AVR. But virtually all streamed programs I have ever viewed only had at most 5.1 dolby digital, which ARC can comfortably output. eARC would have been nice, but I don't think streamed sources will ever feature DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD or atmos soon, which will require eARC.
I love the photo shop stretched images kind of showing 2.35 ratio screen. In your dreams! These projectors do NOT have blacks, you will get grey. Lots of info about games but try a film made for 24 FPS. Judder and or artifacts, your choice. To get any kind of dark detail you must have a near blacked out room. Dolby vision only partly works because of a poor dynamic range. It's a big picture for sure, quality no. 4K..no. better choice O led. If size is the main factor, it may be OK but if quality of picture is important, this is NOT the answer, or any other short throw projector. Make sure you get a demo before you buy. Take a flash drive with you showing a film with lots of dark scenes and fast-moving objects, don't watch the standard demonstration shots with lots of bright slow-moving scenes where everything looks wonderful.
Why do you compare projectors with tv's ? And there's other projectors out there providing almost if not the same service. Tv's will always be more expensive, I feel it's like comparing a bike to a car...All in all it's great projector.
There are definitely trade offs when you want a 120" immersive screen like this. However, it can be hard to portray brightness on a projector through a camera and we can say it looks better in person.
As Audio Advice says it looks better in person than on the video. I have the LS500 and it works great for living room area. Blacks are not great though.
It is their pixel shift 4K, but frankly most people who see it are very happy with it, their projectors are the same and look great. Thanks for watching

Thanks for sharing!
Will it output at least pseudo 16:10?
Great review. Thinking of getting this projector for our upcoming home theatre. Can the projector be mounted on the ceiling?
Thanks! Yes, you can.
Can it be ceiling mounted and also does it have rear projection mode?
Technically yes on the ceiling mount but it’s extremely challenging. No on rear. Thanks for watching
which is better LS800 or formovie?
Can I install any application on LS800 for example IPTV app?
It uses Android TV. You can check there for availability of apps.
Dude, gotta move those plants off of the entertainment center!!! My OCD is killing me!!! 😁 I know who's decision it was to place them there because I also have a wife, but I can't have anything obstructing my screen (tv or projection)! 🤣
Haha, thanks for watching
It looks a little washed out when you have the lights on. That's too bad. I thought this would hold up better in light given it's brightness.
It looks better in person than on the video, but like any projector, it appears brighter with the lights off.
@@AudioAdvice thanks for the clarification.
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What furniture are you using to fit center speaker and receiver?
This is a cabinet from Target that we took the middle doors off and customized it to fit the center and receiver inside.
Hi,
Is there any eye protection mode for the laser display ?
Not that we know of, but you would have to intentionally put your eyes in front of it. If you have small children, it is probably better to wait until they are a little older
After further review, there is a safety feature that will automatically cut the light from the lens when it detects motion in front of it. So you can easily turn that feature on and not have to worry about anyone looking into the light.
The diffirence between ls800and ls11000:
1.LCD:0.62‘’<0.74‘’
2.4K Pro-UHD(4 million pixels)<4K(8 million pixels)
I'm I right?
The main difference is the LS800 is a short throw and the LS11000 is a regular projector. We have not found the actual spec on the panel for the LS800 but that looks right for the 11000
Great video. Is one of the hdmi ports eARC? Might just be a solution to my room
One is ARC but not eARC. Glad you enjoyed the video.
How is the viewing angle on the screen compared to say LED tvs when not sitting straight on towards the screen?
But can you get AT screen for a short throw?
You should use an ALR screen for the best performance. Preferably the one that is sold with the LS800.
How does this compare to Hisense 120 L9G?
Sorry, we have not seen the Hisense. Thanks for watching
No dolby atmos or dolby vision why?so can I get atmos from atmos audio equipment
99% of people using this will have a separate home theater receiver with a Roku, Apple TV, Bluray etc to provide Dolby Atmos content. Plus what TV on its own actually does Dolby Atmos without faking it with tiny speakers.
Can the bulbs be replaced on these models?
It uses a laser. By the time it would go out, we will probably have 16K :)
When did this ust projector come out from epson?
Right now, its brand new
@@AudioAdvice is it 4k or 1080p?
@@victorpulos823 It is Epson's pixel shift 4K, which does accept HDR and looks great, but the panels are 1080p.
Does it support ceiling mounting?
Technically yes but we do not recommend ceiling mounting any projector like this. It is extremely difficult to get it in the precise position it needs to be
Looks like a great solution for rooms where a front projector will not work.
It sure is. Thanks for watching
Would be so cool to try this for gaming!
It's a blast! Thanks for watching
What’s the price point on one of these?
There are some options, we have them all here www.audioadvice.com/epson-ls800-super-ultra-short-throw-projector Thanks for watching
Can i put it on the ceiling?
Technically you could be we highly recommend you do not. The screen will be fixed on the wall and you have to adjust things so precisely it is extremely difficult to accomplish and you will need a very expensive ceiling mount that allows for micro adjustments. Thanks for watching
Great solution when you want a larger that 85in picture but can't use a traditional front projector.
Yes it is, thanks for sharing
How much for screen and projector?
www.audioadvice.com/epson-ls800-super-ultra-short-throw-projector
Can this be ceiling mounted?
It can. There is a mode in the settings that will allow you to flip the image for ceiling mounting.
@@AudioAdvice great I be ceiling mounted when I buy this
We should point out it is extremely tedious to get the mount in the perfect position.
The price of an ALR screen doesn't make sense as you can get a 100 inch TV for less.
Sleek! Great picture and setup.
Thanks!
Only problem with short throws is that there is no where to put your center channel 😅 but would be perfect in a 2-channel setup!
It really depends on your space. My center channel is on a center channel stand in front of my projector, which I love since it also hides the projector from view.
Yes, it takes some creativity!
Good idea!
There are some cabinets coming out with short throw projectors that specific hide them. They are coming down in price.
That's my plan when I buy a UST.
Bigger is better
@@AudioAdvice Better is better :P
great projectors but no Netfix that can be install
You can simply use any separate streaming device like even a Chromecast piece for as little as $30. Thanks for watching
why do epson do this only attach the screens to usa models prices not uk eu ones makes trying get a good screen to par with rubbish
There are plenty of good screens out there that are ALR for short throw projectors, just talk to your local Epson dealer to find the best one.
I think I just found the replacement to my Epson Home Cinema 8350! Come on Best Buy and add this to your list so I can get 24 months same-as-cash (:>)
We are glad you like it! Thanks for watching
Would've been perfect if they'd kept 3D, but having dropped it then no sale!
Yes, we have had several people mention the lack of 3D. Its interesting, we get zero demand for it in our stores. Thanks for watching
I think its just UST, super is just for attract buyers.
Epson added the "super" because of how close you can place it to the wall.
How many ansi lumens?
The projector has 4,000 lumens, so its a super bright projector which is part of the reason this version of ultra short throw works in rooms like this.
@@AudioAdvice The actual brightness is measured in ANSI lumens though.
Is there a equivalent screen that is less expensive?
Not that we know of. Thanks for watching
What is the prise
Here is a link to current pricing, thanks for watching www.audioadvice.com/epson-ls800-super-ultra-short-throw-projector
At least add 3D as a cost+ option.
No Netflix app, no Ethernet port !!!!, no Dolby Vision contrary to other USTs
It has wireless with Android TV but we highly recommend you pair it with an audio system where an Apple TV or Shield could be used. Thanks for watching
Going to be interesting to see how many of these audio companies survive the incoming financial doom that is around the corner. Hang on people, going to be a wild ride.
Is it ansi lumen
From the Epson site, the footnote on the 4000 lumens- Color brightness (color light output) and white brightness (white light output) will vary depending on usage conditions. Color light output measured in accordance with IDMS 15.4; white light output measured in accordance with ISO 21118.
That's a lot of PICTURE (120") for $5500!
Yes it is! Thanks for watching
Well, Epson missing the point. If I am going to have a grey big screen there, I better go for a TV then.
Its personal preference, but yes, when you are not using it, you will see a big wall of grey. Thanks for watching
No Dolby Vision and eARC kills this projector.
Those are not features you see on projectors, TV's yes, but not projectors.
But virtually all streamed programs I have ever viewed only had at most 5.1 dolby digital, which ARC can comfortably output. eARC would have been nice, but I don't think streamed sources will ever feature DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD or atmos soon, which will require eARC.
good
Thanks
They always good, but also always overpriced F that
6m 47s .....all I need to knows if native 4k ....
No thanks you 😒 I will stick to my 1080p until the price drop down....
Fair enough!
Why do you compare projectors with tv's ? And there's other projectors out there providing almost if not the same service. Tv's will always be more expensive, I feel it's like comparing a bike to a car...All in all it's great projector.
Because people ask us all the time. Thanks for watching
No 3D......no sale.
Looks dull and requires way too low light to operate effectively.
@@randito70030 Thanks for the inside info. I need fantastic contrast and blacks for the darker movies I enjoy. Guess I’m sticking with OLED.
No earc
ARC only, no eARC.
If not true 4k then it is fake 4k
It is their pixel shift 4K, but frankly most people who see it are very happy with it, their projectors are the same and look great. Thanks for watching
Not so impressive as my vava
No 3D👎, no projector!!
Looks washed out
We really don't see how anyone can tell what a projector looks like by watching a YT video.
worst advice ever that avr has no room to breathe
It has active fans.
This is pure marketing speak and has zero objective measurements.
Spoken like a marketing head.
8 year old chipset, no HDMI 2.1 with full bandwidth, no ULLM, no 4K@120hz, no eARC.... utter rubbish and waste of money at that price point.
