I prefer this being not that good over being OP. People who use this gun will only be people who really likes it and want to have fun or have AW nostalgia, not everyone over using it to death.
Its rof and damage (at least for wz) gets out performed by other guns, however in mp im able to perform pretty well with it, despite it not being that good. Build I got going for it is somewhat speedy attachments below Muzzle: Casus Break 60 round mag Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Rear grip: Hammer grip Stock: Ardent Tac Stock.
Feels like the appeal of this thing is supposed to be getting a 60 round mag for very little penalty, and then kitting it for accuracy and using it to hold down lanes. Been using it that way and I've found a lot more success with it.

In early advanced warfare there was a theory that they increased the damage of the flash grenade. People thought this because in one of the bal-27's damage ranges it did 33 damage so 3 shots would equal 99 and the 1 damage that a flash grenade did would kill the enemy.
The 33 damage is also why the BAL was used over the AK, despite the AK having a faster initial fire rate. It allowed the BAL to 3 shot with a headshot.
I have found moderate success with it, in small-medium sized maps. But it certainly seems quite weak considering how wonderful the other AW carryover can be. This gun deserves an upgrade. Still, I find it moderately enjoyable to use despite its shortcomings.
So stupid that they have 150 health, but basically no headshot multipliers on anything. Which means that OHK guns and 9999 firerate guns will ALWAYS reign supreme.
150 health is just dumb. or it should be left to treyarch, who at least provide enemy health bars. MWIII looks terrible since it doesn't have health bars yet has this really slow ttk. and also bc it's so out of place for a 'Modern Warfare' game (alongside the futuristic guns and attachments).
@@kamarwashington it makes the slow ttk look more reasonable and feel more bearable. bocw is the only game that did 150 health right imo. mwiii has burst guns which are kind of pointless using (cos they nerfed them too hard even though they never were one bursts and so never deserved any nerfs) and it looks terrible. it plays/feels better than it looks. gameplay looks boring and bad. i dont hate the game. but i think the ppl who spoke good about mwiii have in reality not realised that it's exaggerated.
Wish this guide was available when I was grinding camos for this. No shot at you Ace. But I did figure out that it's better in hardcore mode. Finished the grind there pretty quickly. Keep up the amazing work!
I play hardcore and with the BAL-27, I am getting one of the best KD ratios of any gun I have. Keep it to 3-4 shot bursts and it doesnt move much at all. I absolutely love it.

Ace could you check that suppressor for the SMG class again as I’ve been noticing the laser is producing a brighter blue beam that it wasn’t doing before the reloaded update and I was curious if it’s now actually visible like the cons state?
I got interstellar unlocked on the BAL last night, and can confirm this gun is indeed butt cheeks in 6v6. You’ll get consistently outgunned in a lot of situations. It’s fun to use otherwise.
pretty damn good in hardcore though, it’s a one shot kill from every range. I’ve used it and shoots fast. That combined with controllable recoil makes it deadly in hard-core.

Id say it's not bad, I'm having a ton of success. It's definitely mid though. No where near meta, or even exceptional. It's feels like.. a standard gun. I'm having fun with it and if it gets buffed, even better. The unique sight is pretty bad though, the zoom is higher than you'd expect
It has the zoom of a holo sight. All the holo sights have an unstated zoom multiplier on them, I actually tend to use them on long range AR and BR builds
Haven’t gotten to try it in MP yet (been on a trip away from my Xbox the last couple days). My initial impression from the video is that it seems like it’d be a decent option for aggressive objective play. Your thoughts? Also, I play primarily HC Dom and Hardpoint, if that helps.
@@kiezer21 HC this gun is seriously impressive. The initial shots are really accurate, and really powerful. Core game modes it struggles, but it is really consistent. Consistently mid, but consistent. I'm happy with how it feels, but you'll find a lot of gun fights you'll be at a disadvantage. 60 Round Mag is pretty good, and it's pretty accurate. Those faster shots can be annoying to keep on your opponent, but you shouldn't be doing prolonged fire much anyway.
I think it only needs some horizontal recoil reduction. Maybe slightly improve the head shot damage a tiny amount. I mean if the min is 311m/s, and its only slightly slower than that, than it isnt half bad in the ttk.
Ace, have you noticed since the S3R update, it seems like you have more aiming idle sway? It really feels like there is significantly more, as if they reverted the change they made or something.
So the new scratch suppressor when equipped on other guns doesn't list that it keeps you off the radar. Can you confirm that it does work as intended and the item description is just wrong?
The bal has absurd mobility when built right. Got a strave speed of 4.2 m/s, and walking speed of 5.7 m/s. Equipped all terrain boots, making it really good at hipfiring and strafing. Feels really snappy and responsive.
(This has been fixed/changed already) There was another weird thing about this gun that I noticed the day it dropped. The extended mag attachment (the 60 round mag) had literally 0 impact on your ADS speed and had only a very minor detrimental impact on the sprint out time. It had basically no severe or even moderate negative impact for using it, which made it super busted.
It impacted you ads speed and sprint to fire speed a decent amount at launch. But did not effect reload speed or mobility like the rest of magazine attachments. Which is still true, it hasn’t been touched
Honestly kinda surprised it's not that good statistically. I found that in practice it actually performs pretty damn well. The first couple shots are quite accurate for beaming people, and when going for multi kills, u shoot one guy first and then delete the next guy with the ramped up fire rate. It's like the side winder lmg kid but better cuz ur more mobile
Agreed. I love this weapon, it’s actually my best K/D weapon at 1.33 (among the weapons I have a decent amount of kills with). Feels amazing and extremely accurate despite a slow ttk. Kind of like the MCW but better
Which is why I don't just look at stats and actually try to use it in practice. For example, the JAK Outlaw Kit for the Bas B got "nerfed into the ground"... it didn't. Just because the stats say so doesn't really paint the entire story. I've still been able to consistently top my leaderboard and frag out with it. Again like a lot of mechanical things, the issue isn't with the machine, it's a user problem.
You're right, its all in the users hands but when it comes to stats they're also assuming that you are landing every shot in the optimal spots. If you treat guns like matchups where a perfect player with a meta gun goes head to head with a perfect player with the BAL, then the BAL loses. Reality may not work this way because of the reasons you listed, but that matchup knowledge is still more important at the end of the day, and you can't ignore it. You have to make up for what it lacks with a different play style, hampering the flexibility of the gun compared to meta guns.
I love the way this gun looks, plays, and feels, but even before watching this video it was too obvious that the ttk was just not there. In my opinion, it would probably be best to just drop the consistent 5 shot down to a 4 shot as there are ARs that are better with those stats.
I feel like the Bal was designed to be a mid to long range shredder but the recoil to keep it in check. Haven’t found a setup to make that actually work yet though, might have to do some more experimentation
Try my build; ZEMNH35 Muzzle XRK Bowbreaker Grip 60 Round Mag Channel-M Grip Ardent Tac Stock You can swap 60 rounds for something else but the first 5 shots have virtually no recoil and the visual recoil is next to none. Been able to beam people cross map with no problems so far.
He's a funny idea they add and the aftermarket part that makes it the bal Obsidians steed, which buffs the damage and improves to accuracy, making it in line with the pre nerf MCW have to sacrifice and attachment slot to use it. Just a thought
I personally think it's good when they come out with mediocre guns because the meta or bad players can't just abuse the weapon when it comes out and good players will still dominate lobbies with mediocre weapons
Honestly I’m glad it’s bad. So sick of every new weapon being meta for two weeks until it’s nerfed into the ground. Hopefully it’ll get steadily buffed until it’s in a good place like a lot of the bad launch weapons.
My brother found a glitch setup where the tac stance spread says 3.0 but it legit is 0.0 because every shot lands dead center... It's a monster especially on hardcore it's crazy seeing him hit long shots in tac stance 😮
I feel ace tends to focuses only on the sweaty play style were making the gun fast is key, if you build this gun for mid-Long range it’s amazing with only a need for a 5 shot kill, the first four shots are very low recoil and don’t fire that slow either, and by the fifth shot they are dead, I find a lot of weapons he dislikes are the ones I prefer beacuse they’re all really good on longer engagements, also his claims about the stinger being bad, it a very good machine pistol that demands some recoil control
On the other hand, the Wardens are Outlaw-levels of busted, before it got nerfed into the ground. Adding the Crown Breaker Choke and Verdant Hook Cylindrical Laser turns them into precision OHK machines. Firing just one will drop anybody within ~16m, and firing both at the same time will "OHK" right up until the pellets stop registering hits at ~29m. All of that, plus a 31ms sprintout and literally no hipfire bloom when moving or sprinting (jumping, sliding or diving will incur hipfire bloom, but it's not that bad). Don't know if that's working as intended, but it'll absolutely get nerfed.
Thanks for the video, I wish you checked the TTK for warzone as well. I know you usually don't cover warzone topics on this channel but since this weapon has a higher fire rate after the first few shots. I guess in a game mode that you have more health (like warzone) The higher fire rate maybe make the TTK competitive. In normal 6v6 you really don't use the higher fire rate (better TTK) because most of the time the enemy dies before you reach the higher fire rate. In warzone you can use the higher fire rate (and better TTK) more.
It's interesting that the BAL uses 5.7 pistol ammo it has a super high bullet velocity but moderate low damage and i think that where it does fall short a bit but also i think a lot of people are going into this thinking it's gonna be the same weapon from 10 years ago which it was never going to, but overall it's really good in tac stance.
I think what they should do is get rid of the ramping mechanic, set its rate of fire to 698 and allow it to kill in 4 shots with like 1-2 shots to the Upper Torso mixed with body shots. Headshots should be able to kill in 3 shots if you hit all head shots. Maybe a 4 shot kill with one headshot mixed with all bodyshots. The lower rate of fire should help with recoil as well.
They should buff the first 5 bullets so that you get a 4 shot kill if any 4 of the first 5 hit but requires 5 shots otherwise. (i.e., The first 5 do 36 each and the others do 30.) To compensate, they could add a bit of open-bolt delay which would also prevent people from abusing the extra initial damage by tap-firing.
Just like most guns, the gun itself isn't bad it's the user. Stats aren't everything and having a good proper build is (at least imo) more important than actual stats. The build I've been having the best success with is; ZEMN35 Muzzle XRK Bowbreaker Grip 60 Round Mag Channel-M Grip Ardent Tac Stock The ADS takes a pretty big hit (down to 306ms) but, I've still been able to be pretty aggressive at all ranges. As long as you are on target, the first five bullets have virtually no recoil making it beam across the map. It also has virtually no visual recoil which is really nice for an MnK user such as myself.
Take a similarly skilled user and give them essentially any one of the other full auto mwiii ARs and they’ll be outgunning you far more often than not. Being able to compensate for and play well with a bad gun doesn’t make it a good gun, it just means you’re better than your enemies. I can’t imagine you performing well with that build against similarly skilled players using a meta build since it’s statistically very weak, especially for aggressive play
I didn’t want this to be OP but i also didn’t want it to be below average/mid so this is def disappointing i loved using it in AW so for it to only be “ok” is just a slap in the face
I think the advanced stats maybe inaccurate for this gun (or it may just be a weird interaction/bug in the firing range). I think this because when I put on one of the range improving barrels I can get a 4 shot kill when mixing in 1 headshot on the closest dummy. Not sure why this is happening but it is capable of getting a 4 shot kill (at least in firing range) with that barrel. It doesn’t show a damage increase so I’m confused as to what is actually going on with it.
Ngl i wish they still add the asm1 and maybe even the Cel-3. Also would love to see an Inferno Aftermarket part for rhe bal-27 that makes its starting rpm 900rpm and ramps up to 1200rpm with very tight hipfire but its a recoil is uncontrollable and its a 6-8 shot kill
I wish they would add penetration to the detailed stats. It could just be this gun's consistency, but it felt like I could take on small groups of players due to collateral damage. Unlike other guns where bullets don't seem to pass through players models or do enough damage and you need the full amount of shots to frag the next player in the group. That was why I was always primarily an LMG user who stacked FMJ.
I start with the goal I want to achieve play style wise and then I optimize from there by keeping important values in mind and then I do A/B testing with attachments that impact stats that aren’t clearly visible in advanced stats like recoil

I actually appreciate that a new battle pass gun isn't OP on release. I think if they improved the recoil it could be a fun/niche gun. I don't want to see any changes to ttk everything doesn't need to have a sub 300ms ttk.
I don't understand the balancing of this gun. Usually a weapon in COD is balanced by either killing quickly and being inaccurate, or killing slowly but being accurate. The BAL-27 is both slow killing AND inaccurate lol
It was frustrating for me, since it seemed to kick in weird ways, making it hard to use, while all the other BAL users were melting me with seemingly no recoil. I have not had a great time with this gun. Now with the MK2 Wardens however....
so I can confirm that most of those stats in multiplayer do effect in zombies. I always assume damage worked differently in zombies because of PAP and some other factors but i see that damage is really bad with the BAL-27. no difference between headshots or body shots. i dont even think that deadshot even effects it either.
This gun was a miss, but I'm looking forward to whatever akimbo 1887 builds you cook up! Hopefully there are some setups out there to make it good, since its so fun and nostalgic haha
I actually like this gun but no headshot multiplier is kinda criminal. Also you should make a vid on the JAK nightshade kit for the DG58 LSW because it got really good with the buff of the base gun

The ramping ROF + the mediocre TTK combo makes that reload so excruciating, trying to use this at mid-range & beyond is no bueno.
At least it "Carries a significant amount of ammo thanks to a tri-stack magazine" so surely the base magazine size is huge.... right?

Yeah, probably easiest gun to get to interstellar, ever. change of pace, you have to use the strengths -- longrange.

I only play Hardcore Domination and this gun is a proper Beast in that category.

100% agree. There is a trigger delay. Recoil isn't the best and it's slow. Plus the attachments are one extreme or the other imo
(This has been fixed/changed already) There was another weird thing about this gun that I noticed the day it dropped. The extended mag attachment (the 60 round mag) had literally 0 impact on your ADS speed and had only a very minor detrimental impact on the sprint out time. It had basically no severe or even moderate negative impact for using it, which made it super busted.
It impacted you ads speed and sprint to fire speed a decent amount at launch. But did not effect reload speed or mobility like the rest of magazine attachments. Which is still true, it hasn’t been touched

You should make a spreadsheet for all the ttk stats with aftermarket parts and all the guns since its getting hectic remembering all the stats lol

Honestly kinda surprised it's not that good statistically. I found that in practice it actually performs pretty damn well. The first couple shots are quite accurate for beaming people, and when going for multi kills, u shoot one guy first and then delete the next guy with the ramped up fire rate. It's like the side winder lmg kid but better cuz ur more mobile
Agreed. I love this weapon, it’s actually my best K/D weapon at 1.33 (among the weapons I have a decent amount of kills with). Feels amazing and extremely accurate despite a slow ttk. Kind of like the MCW but better
Which is why I don't just look at stats and actually try to use it in practice. For example, the JAK Outlaw Kit for the Bas B got "nerfed into the ground"... it didn't. Just because the stats say so doesn't really paint the entire story. I've still been able to consistently top my leaderboard and frag out with it. Again like a lot of mechanical things, the issue isn't with the machine, it's a user problem.
You're right, its all in the users hands but when it comes to stats they're also assuming that you are landing every shot in the optimal spots.
If you treat guns like matchups where a perfect player with a meta gun goes head to head with a perfect player with the BAL, then the BAL loses.
Reality may not work this way because of the reasons you listed, but that matchup knowledge is still more important at the end of the day, and you can't ignore it. You have to make up for what it lacks with a different play style, hampering the flexibility of the gun compared to meta guns.
I love the way this gun looks, plays, and feels, but even before watching this video it was too obvious that the ttk was just not there. In my opinion, it would probably be best to just drop the consistent 5 shot down to a 4 shot as there are ARs that are better with those stats.

I feel like the Bal was designed to be a mid to long range shredder but the recoil to keep it in check. Haven’t found a setup to make that actually work yet though, might have to do some more experimentation

You can swap 60 rounds for something else but the first 5 shots have virtually no recoil and the visual recoil is next to none. Been able to beam people cross map with no problems so far.
He's a funny idea they add and the aftermarket part that makes it the bal Obsidians steed, which buffs the damage and improves to accuracy, making it in line with the pre nerf MCW have to sacrifice and attachment slot to use it. Just a thought
I personally think it's good when they come out with mediocre guns because the meta or bad players can't just abuse the weapon when it comes out and good players will still dominate lobbies with mediocre weapons

Honestly I’m glad it’s bad. So sick of every new weapon being meta for two weeks until it’s nerfed into the ground. Hopefully it’ll get steadily buffed until it’s in a good place like a lot of the bad launch weapons.
My brother found a glitch setup where the tac stance spread says 3.0 but it legit is 0.0 because every shot lands dead center... It's a monster especially on hardcore it's crazy seeing him hit long shots in tac stance 😮

I think this gun is kinda like the WSP-9. Bad on paper, good enough in practice.
I feel ace tends to focuses only on the sweaty play style were making the gun fast is key, if you build this gun for mid-Long range it’s amazing with only a need for a 5 shot kill, the first four shots are very low recoil and don’t fire that slow either, and by the fifth shot they are dead, I find a lot of weapons he dislikes are the ones I prefer beacuse they’re all really good on longer engagements, also his claims about the stinger being bad, it a very good machine pistol that demands some recoil control
On the other hand, the Wardens are Outlaw-levels of busted, before it got nerfed into the ground. Adding the Crown Breaker Choke and Verdant Hook Cylindrical Laser turns them into precision OHK machines. Firing just one will drop anybody within ~16m, and firing both at the same time will "OHK" right up until the pellets stop registering hits at ~29m. All of that, plus a 31ms sprintout and literally no hipfire bloom when moving or sprinting (jumping, sliding or diving will incur hipfire bloom, but it's not that bad). Don't know if that's working as intended, but it'll absolutely get nerfed.
Thanks for the video, I wish you checked the TTK for warzone as well. I know you usually don't cover warzone topics on this channel but since this weapon has a higher fire rate after the first few shots. I guess in a game mode that you have more health (like warzone) The higher fire rate maybe make the TTK competitive. In normal 6v6 you really don't use the higher fire rate (better TTK) because most of the time the enemy dies before you reach the higher fire rate. In warzone you can use the higher fire rate (and better TTK) more.
It's interesting that the BAL uses 5.7 pistol ammo it has a super high bullet velocity but moderate low damage and i think that where it does fall short a bit but also i think a lot of people are going into this thinking it's gonna be the same weapon from 10 years ago which it was never going to, but overall it's really good in tac stance.
Why the Bal doesn't have a 32 round mag base is beyond me when the AW version did . . .
I think what they should do is get rid of the ramping mechanic, set its rate of fire to 698 and allow it to kill in 4 shots with like 1-2 shots to the Upper Torso mixed with body shots. Headshots should be able to kill in 3 shots if you hit all head shots. Maybe a 4 shot kill with one headshot mixed with all bodyshots. The lower rate of fire should help with recoil as well.

The buffs have made this gun pretty good now, range damage increase withe low recoil makes it lethal in the right hands.
They should buff the first 5 bullets so that you get a 4 shot kill if any 4 of the first 5 hit but requires 5 shots otherwise. (i.e., The first 5 do 36 each and the others do 30.) To compensate, they could add a bit of open-bolt delay which would also prevent people from abusing the extra initial damage by tap-firing.
Cammo challenge for headshots wasn't a problem though, did it in one round. Thought there was a hs multiplier
Just like most guns, the gun itself isn't bad it's the user. Stats aren't everything and having a good proper build is (at least imo) more important than actual stats. The build I've been having the best success with is;

The ADS takes a pretty big hit (down to 306ms) but, I've still been able to be pretty aggressive at all ranges. As long as you are on target, the first five bullets have virtually no recoil making it beam across the map. It also has virtually no visual recoil which is really nice for an MnK user such as myself.
Take a similarly skilled user and give them essentially any one of the other full auto mwiii ARs and they’ll be outgunning you far more often than not. Being able to compensate for and play well with a bad gun doesn’t make it a good gun, it just means you’re better than your enemies. I can’t imagine you performing well with that build against similarly skilled players using a meta build since it’s statistically very weak, especially for aggressive play

I think the advanced stats maybe inaccurate for this gun (or it may just be a weird interaction/bug in the firing range). I think this because when I put on one of the range improving barrels I can get a 4 shot kill when mixing in 1 headshot on the closest dummy. Not sure why this is happening but it is capable of getting a 4 shot kill (at least in firing range) with that barrel. It doesn’t show a damage increase so I’m confused as to what is actually going on with it.

Ngl i wish they still add the asm1 and maybe even the Cel-3. Also would love to see an Inferno Aftermarket part for rhe bal-27 that makes its starting rpm 900rpm and ramps up to 1200rpm with very tight hipfire but its a recoil is uncontrollable and its a 6-8 shot kill
I wish they would add penetration to the detailed stats. It could just be this gun's consistency, but it felt like I could take on small groups of players due to collateral damage. Unlike other guns where bullets don't seem to pass through players models or do enough damage and you need the full amount of shots to frag the next player in the group. That was why I was always primarily an LMG user who stacked FMJ.
the great range means you can treat it as a dump stat and maybe pair the comps that harm your range
Ace, how do you decide which attachments to use?
I start with the goal I want to achieve play style wise and then I optimize from there by keeping important values in mind and then I do A/B testing with attachments that impact stats that aren’t clearly visible in advanced stats like recoil

I actually appreciate that a new battle pass gun isn't OP on release. I think if they improved the recoil it could be a fun/niche gun. I don't want to see any changes to ttk everything doesn't need to have a sub 300ms ttk.
I don't understand the balancing of this gun. Usually a weapon in COD is balanced by either killing quickly and being inaccurate, or killing slowly but being accurate. The BAL-27 is both slow killing AND inaccurate lol
It was frustrating for me, since it seemed to kick in weird ways, making it hard to use, while all the other BAL users were melting me with seemingly no recoil. I have not had a great time with this gun. Now with the MK2 Wardens however....

so I can confirm that most of those stats in multiplayer do effect in zombies. I always assume damage worked differently in zombies because of PAP and some other factors but i see that damage is really bad with the BAL-27. no difference between headshots or body shots. i dont even think that deadshot even effects it either.
This gun was a miss, but I'm looking forward to whatever akimbo 1887 builds you cook up! Hopefully there are some setups out there to make it good, since its so fun and nostalgic haha

I actually like this gun but no headshot multiplier is kinda criminal. Also you should make a vid on the JAK nightshade kit for the DG58 LSW because it got really good with the buff of the base gun

It has a really good aim walking speed. I found it best to make a build with that in mind.
They need to reduce the recoil massively on this weapon, that’s really the only issue I find with it
