For me I feel like the amount of content isn’t necessarily the issue, it’s the menus and UI that has made this so much worse this year. Having to do a endless horizontal scroll to get to where I want is an absolute nightmare. They have been slowly improving this with the filters I’ll give them that, but the entire UI NEEDS a complete overhaul.
no the ui wouldnt be as much of an issue if there weren't guns carried forward. whether the ui was different or the same as it is now, it's so filler and conflated having this many weapons.
@@bobdarrick2628 As L3X said. Plus again, you have filters and can exclude all those weapons if you want to. Still doesn’t fix the core issue which is the shit horizontal scroll subscription service type menus to try and “retain players.” I still forget how to use the menus at times.
@@MetalZeroFour it’s not that deep. Just get used to it. Horizontal scrolling wasn’t that bad in MWII. It’s bad in mwiii bc of carry forward - one of the dumbest things a CoD has ever done.
I really don't think the amount of "content" is the issue. Just the attachments. We have like 300 attachments that do slight variations of the same thing, that's the one area where I'd like to see change. I will never complain about too many guns or maps or anything else like that though.
The guns have the same issue. A lot of the guns literally just do the same thing with little variation. Like ffs they added a burst fire suppressed version of the MP5 only to add a full auto conversion kit for it anyways.
@@rockmycd1319 nah bro. You’re right that there is content bloat/filler bs. guns shouldn’t have been ported over and should be ignored. But that’s it - the MP5SD should have been left in MWII. MWII adding a burst fire SMG was a good thing. It added more variety. But mwiii should have its own batch of guns only.
I remember Mw2 people were just complaining about enough content. Now its to much. It doesnt matter you cant make people happy. Me personally I love having variety I dont want to keep using the gun everyone is.
We're seeing the opposites here. MWII mostly suffered from lack of maps. MWIII isn't bloated because of the size purely, it's bloated because of how much dead weight there is. Most of the MWII weapons are horribly underpowered, and most MWII attachments aside from a few have no viability. I'm not a meta chaser, I use what I like, but even in Warzone one I found a way to use MW2019 weapons through Cold War and Vangaurd. In MWIII, though, there's a lot of weapons that I don't feel like are competing with everything else. The biggest problem is that most MWII attachments kill your movement, and the upsides are negligible. In MWIII, you can get stock with +20% reductions to sprint to fire and a minor hit to recoil or hip fire. In MWII, your stocks give between a 2-4% reduction to recoil or ads speed, with either 5-10% cons to movement speed or recoil. You can make an MWIII sore in the greens with lots of upsides, in MWII you can barely get a gun to be fast and shoot straight without relying on the MWIII attachments they can have.
MWII never had an issue with the number of guns. MWIII has a lot of maps and that's fine. it's too much content bc of the guns. u can only have so many differentiated guns. it's filler, bs and conflated having this many.
COD community: "we want more content and content carry over" Sledgehammer: "we got you fam" COD community: "there's so much content and all these guns from last year are still here? get your shit together Sledgehammer." like, bruh... we finally got a dev team to listen and now we're gonna complain that they listened too well? This community sucks.
People like you who can't see the nuances in things are the ones who suck. Like yes there is a too far in either direction, yes they gave us content but just because they gave us content doesn't mean they did it in the right way. I agree they have done a much better job than Infinity Ward listening to the community and backtracking on some of those stupid policies they had but I'm not going to act like everything is perfect. The weapons I understand because they had to bring the modern warfare 2 weapons because they didn't have enough weapons at first now they do and now there are just too many that do the same thing. But where I do feel there needs to be a huge improvement is the gear section and the attachments. And equipment, why are there several different types of mines, why do we need shock sticks and stun grenades, and gas, like all of these things virtually do the same thing. Like this video points out why have 10 attachments that give slight variations but with one clear winner. It makes the others pointless except for appearance sake which you don't need to change the stats for that you can just make it look different but only several different variations like the idea he pointed out in this video. It's not very hard to understand like he said this amount of content is just too much to keep track of. There are literally like 5 assault rifles that have high rates of fire high accuracy and bullpup designs LoL that's not even factoring in any conversion kits that might also infringe on that. There's no reason for that many weapons that almost are the same gun unless they are a variation of the same like modern warfare 2 had with the platforms. At this point it's almost impossible for even a veteran player to keep up with the weapon changes and weapon buffs weapon nerfs etc. I stopped playing for a couple weeks and came back to 20 different changes and several weapons I completely forgot about or didn't know they existed because they came out within the two weeks I hadn't played and were also patched in that 2 weeks. The s***'s ridiculous bro
@@swiftblaqness The comment was an over-simplification. However what did you think was going to happen when you add 80 weapons(most of which having shared attachments) to a game with 50 new guns(which also have shared attachments)? You get 50 foregrips. More optics then you can shake a stick at. When you have well over 100 guns of course they aren't going to be "unique". Also what do you mean there wasnt enough guns in MW3 on launch? It's the second (or third) most weapons on launch after MW2. There was PLENTY. There's way better things they could have done, but if they didn't just bring the same guns over from MW2 they would have shipped them over in the battlepass eventually anyway (ex. The kar98 coming back for the 8th game in a row, the mp5 which has been in damn near every COD not ww2 based). If the community couldn't get their heads out of their asses we could get a COD in the future where guns can look unique again, cause unfortunately guns made in the last 10-20 years are basic and uninteresting. If we go too far back they bitch, if they go too far forward they bitch. There's no happy medium. They stop dropping guns they'll bitch there's no content and there's no reason to play the season. They stop dropping maps, guess what now they're being lazy. L after L after L. The only way they can balance and work on weapons is if they stop making them and switch to AMPs but then there's too many AMPs that they may as well just be new guns. There's nothing they can do but keep adding. And you know what's gonna happen next year? People will want BO6 and whatever other game to be cross compatible just to bitch again. I can't speak on grenades/mines etc. cause I literally only switch between throwing knives and frags, and refuse to use tacticals cause im from a time where using flash/stuns made you a tryhard sweat.
@@kandihustty5610 i agree with everything but the gun design. The name changes though are incredibly silly.
I mean, no one really needs to "keep up" with all the new content to begin with. It makes no negative difference if I don't know the exact stats of every gun used by everyone. If anything I would rather there be far more maps and guns than I could keep up with so the game doesn't feel too samey
@@hamza-chaudhryit’s overwhelming because you want you use everything all at once, you probably want all the weapons and gear unlocked so you could find the most Godly loadout and dominate every match, No chill off of that, pick a load out level up the guns in it and have fun. @@cubeking4538I don't know how old are you but every COD in existence has a meta. COD 4 had the infamous M16A4 yet it was the most successful FPS multiplayer ever. Same with MW2, MW3, BO2, BO3, etc, the meta is not the problem at all
@@oned8167you are right the journey of unlocking everything the feel of progression is the good part when it comes to unlocking tons of stuff it is like rpg game where you collect loot from dungeons you explore
I think the easiest fix for this is simply what MW2019 did. We had the MK18, M16A1/A2/A3/A4, the colt 9mm, the colt commando, the LVOC, etc. All from the M4A1. Because we had built-in conversion kits and cosmetic changes to the guns. Instead of the M13B AND M13C, we had the M13 with a .300BLK conversion kit. It'd be so much nicer to have one gun, and you just build it to be something else instead of having 5 guns from the same receiver. Maybe the barrel and Stock can become free attachments, your barrel chooses your range and your stock picks your accuracy, then you build it from there.
I agree with this for cosmetic changes. MW2019 is the GOAT when it comes to that. I even remember different AK blueprints got different dovetail mounts, like the RS Regulate rail. I do feel that for receivers, those should either be the gun itself, or a **free** attachment slot, since I don't wanna have to use an attachment slot to get a Colt 9mm when I could just pick a receiver for it, for free. That's one advantage the receiver system in MW2 did have.
@@peepsbatesAbsolutely hate how since MWII every weapon blueprint is like "Just add some random colors and stickers and call it a day" while MW19 had so much unique attachments and even unique iron sights for weapons like the M4A1. Biggest let down for me, at least im keeping my money
If somebody is interested, there's 1 bundle in MW3 that actually change a weapons appearance, the RIVAL-9/Skorpion Evo has a blueprint available that converts it into the MW19 weapon model which is way closer to the real Skorpion

Was also the only way to have a dovetail mount for your optic on the AK instead of the dust cover rail that was on, by default.

@@erm221 Don't know what comment section you're reading, but I see plenty that agree there's content bloat. And I personally feel there's a sweet spot.
I’m honestly fine with the number of guns, but the attachments are wayyy too bloated. They should just consolidate them to subcategories with a selector for cosmetic differences
Gunsmith has so many attachments that are so redundant to the point where its not really gunsmith, my friends joke about cod needs to bring back pick 10 not Pick 10,000. What mw3 shouldve done with the gunsmith is to simplified the attachment into their own sub categories like for example for Underbarrels we have foregrips (Ex:Merc Foregrip), Handstop grips (Commando Foregrip), Tactical grip (FSS Sharkfin 90), and Underbarrel lauchers. Foregrip is meant for vertical recoil control and Handstop Foregrips are meant for horizontal recoil. And all the options for select different types of foregrips or handstops be all cosmetic and has no additional benefit other than looking cool on the gun this will simply solved the over bloatedness of the gunsmith and will make it easier for the average player to grasp which option is good for what
Pick 10 is the other awful extreme where you are so restricted of adding stuff to your whole class than most people would forget secondary weapons or tactical/lethal equipment even exist. The real solution is just have 2 or 3 grips for example and just make it able to change those grips cosmetically like we can now with blueprint attachments.
@RipVanWinkle-zm7vs mw19 gun Smith even though it's still kind of flawed it was the best version of gunsmith we've had you have just even variety of attachments where you don't feel restricted and have attachment that have clear upsides and tradeoff except suppressors clearly the monolithic is the best
@@dalberttran8134 Exactly, the whole "Gunsmith 2.0" fiasco did so much harm to the whole system. Just use 3 attachments for every part and make us able to change them visually, thats how it worked
I don’t think the new players (that came with mw2019) would be happy with a simplified attachment system. I think the idea of having 5 attachment on a gun is here to stay sadly. My favorite attachment system was in BO4 which was incredibly underrated but it was both simple and unique with the pick 10 system and each gun felt different than the other. I don’t think treyarch would simplify the skins tho because they usually go overboard with their skins and gun variants too but that’s ok since we don’t have to get them if we don’t want them.
What a weird complaint. I'm I the odd one out here, but I personally just like to grab a gun built it in a weird off meta way and just have fun. I don't look at the weapons and say "hmm whats meta this week" I look for "what fun casual build am I feeling today, lets grab a scar with a underbarrel shotgun with a 4x and just have a good time."
The old creat a class allows you to lean into a weapons weird mechanics more than a gunsmith since most trade offs make anything but the normal attachments kinda useless
And what's the problem with having fewer weapons, wouldn't it be possible to do the same style of "non-meta classes"? But instead of them wasting time making weapons that are basically copies of each other, it would be better for them to spend that time on more useful things, like maps or solving bugs
It is very bloated. For me, thats good, for warzone modes, i move with the wave, and maybe twist it a bit. For mw3 i like i can play any mode, any way, with any gun, and make it work (mileage varies with poo guns) Personally i love replaying war mode like an insane guy. Legit, nothing will matter at the end of times, so have fun and dont lock yourself from an entire cataloge of boom sticks
Every feedback video “Let’s just slowwwly get things back to the way it used to be” the CoD ship is a giant tanker that takes years for any one terrible decision to be changed or reversed
Its all because nowadays some COD players get depression and obtain blindness if the map they're playing is not a sunny day with a bunch of colours that you may be playing Splatoon without even knowing. We can't have nice things anymore, even the community helps Activision make this franchise even more corporate
nobody wants to look at the same dogshit dirt textures. i was just complaining about this, BO2's most memorable maps all had bright colors. there is 0 appeal to looking at the same dirt textures copied and pasted. "wow we're fighting in a Real military setting? these grey walls and nameless buildings are so milsim!" - no one in the history of COD. bro is moaning about MAPS being unrealistic lmfao. CODcope has reached new levels
This is a cool topic, I want to have an opinion too. Weapons: I think we are right on the cusp of having too many, but we aren't there yet. I like Ace's opinion on the "roles" they occupy. Personally I just look to have every kind of real world counterpart. Not for mil-sim, but for aesthetic. Like we need to have an M4/AR15, an AK, a FAMAS, a G36, an AUG, an MP5 etc. I like to see the weapons from around the world represented. Then from there they can balance them to be different gameplay archetypes. Attachments: Too many, particularly too many that are useless or have too many negatives. Maps: I like the amount, but I don't like that so many are tiny (like shipment/rust/stash house/etc.) I like variety in size and layout.
I have an issue with too many maps, though it's mainly a problem due to map voting imo. The COD community generally likes smaller maps and hates bigger maps. My favourite map by far is Estate. Though the high number of maps leads to Estate rarely being in the map vote. And when it is in the map vote no one's gonna vote for it because the majority prefers the alternative.
on cosmetic attachments: your idea is perfect. i think when you level up a gun you should unlock all statistically different attachments in just its own track and also unlock cosmetic variations for all guns. so you don’t have to use other guns, but you are encouraged to do so
"Too many guns" is way worse with melee weapons. Why do we have a fuckton of melee weapons, when they fit similar role? There should be only one melee weapon, and current existing melee variety must come from 1 "attachment" you equip to melee weapon.
It is not a problem of content bloat , the problem is that all the guns are the fucking same .No variety .All the Meta ones are Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns that all look the same .
The meta could involve more marksman and MGs. Liked they added the wardens which did put them in the meta. Will say that I liked they gave bullpups more love which have lacked in most cod games.
Nope. It’s content bloat. They have too many guns. That’s why so many are the same. Porting over guns was completely stupid and unnecessary. This issue could have easily been avoided. Map wise though, I’m happy with the amount MWIII has provided.
The issue is there is a lack of content in certain areas and way too much in others. The devs are also terrible at balancing certain guns, make new weapons either super meta or just good enough to warrant using them. There isnt any new real content for zombies, no truely new maps or modes, Ground War, War mode and Invasion have harldy got content drops and the vast majority of 6v6 maps are just recycled content. The guns options are very nice but could be condensed by making a "build/reciever" set as a gun and give it 1 or 2 free attachments. For example; instead of having like 7 different AK pattern rifles you have the AKM then you pick the reciever set (rpk, ak74u, etc.), then pick the attachments from there. So lets say you pick the akm, pick the Ak-74u reciever, now you can only pick 5.45 ammo and magazines and only the shorty barrels. Oposite goes for the RPK.
lol @ the comments claiming clickbait. Did you even watch the video? Ace gives such a moderate explanation of his concerns. It’s not his fault you read “content bloat” and your head explodes. At any rate I don’t expect we’d get these changes given they’re a by-product of the live service approach to AAA releases. I’m sure SHG agrees with Ace’s points about making the weapon/attachment systems more efficient but changing it now would go against ATVI’s agenda and would likely obscure whatever plans they have going forward. This is definitely better than having not enough content, but it’s also definitely indicative of poor management by ATVI/execs expectations.
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one Ace. The huge number of attachments is something I find extremely frustrating because I end spending a third of my time testing attachment combos instead of actually playing whenever I am trying out a different weapon.
guns should have never carried forward. there's really no excuse for this. too many guns have similar stats as you mentioned. it's filler and conflated. it's more fun when there are differentiated guns and not too many that are similar. if there were no weapons carried forward and the total number of ARs was about 12 at the end of Season 6, that would have been fine. I don't use the MWII guns in MWIII and I filter them out when I'm in the menus to avoid this issue somewhat, but this does not entirely remove the issue. I don't think they will do anything to resolve this issue. imo they should just remove all the MWII guns from MP at least, but they won't. operators carrying forward was good but guns was a stupid/horrible idea on SHG/ATVI's part (whoever is responsible).
It's interesting to hear you talk about all the weapons from a statistics and role-driven standpoint. Constantly referencing fire rates, kill distances and shot count, "character" etc... and how all of it can be overwhelming for the casual player... What's important to remember is that you're talking from the perspective of someone who does care about the statistics of a weapon where as I can guess most casual players will just try a weapon based on its visuals, sound and if they recognize it from other forms of media. They don't care IF the weapon has good stats, or "is meta" currently as a weapons character it's more about look and feel for them. Not the stats or role it fills. My guess is that most 'causal' players massively enjoy the vast amounts of weapons in the game currently and they'll find a few favorites and swap between weapons every so often. If they ever want to try a new gun, they are certainly not limited on choice! They don't chase META's or "what the best loadout" is as to them, it simply doesn't matter.
Yep. I couldn't care less about the meta and sometimes statistics. I just play with a good looking weapon that works decently and get my kills. That's the way people should be playing the game instead of stressing what's the best, this is COD
And even then, the meta guns/loadouts are always a Google search away these days. If you really want to keep up with it, it's not all that difficult to do so thanks to how easy it is to get information these days.
A good point but most people that but this game have been for quite a while and overtime get pretty good. This system I think is made worse with SBM because casually I want to just have fun with everything but then you get paired up with try hard stompers that use MCWs (back when it was meta) with attachments that made it a laser and just camping lanes. Now I feel like I’m forced to use the terrible attachment system to build a better set up and do better only to be put up with even better players. This game just never seemed to be getting better at this rate. It lost its casual touch and it lost me in the process
Yeah, I'm a mixed casual and dedicated player, but I do think the current way it's being done is a sight for sore eyes. I liked the simplicity of MW2019's selection and menus, but I also love the cosmetics customization that we have. I'd like to see a system where you choose a receiver and pick your caliber, barrel, and stock options. That way, you can have your desired firearm before you use any attachments, and it helps keep the clutter from 7 weapons to just one. Plus, it means if they wanted to add a new receiver, they could just change a few small details, not make a whole new model for the slightest changes
The manipulated matchmaking, revengespawns and hitregistration is the real issue. That's what stops me playing time and time again. I don't get fomo over some attachments. I kinda like something to play for.
I don’t think content bloat is the problem. No lie out of like 30 irl people I asked about mw3 the only reason they don’t play it. Is because they only know it as a dlc not it’s own game or how it fixed movement and is in a good place. That the only reason why people don’t play it is because of how it was announced.
Yeah, but those ppl ain't gonna play MW3 anyway's so who cares, they made their decision, stupid or not and they're gonna stick to it. Ace's point here is talking about an issue that the current COD players that actually PLAY MW3 are experiencing. I know he's using examples of new players, but this also affects all players and that seems like his point overall.
Ace, you perfectly explained why I don't play this game all that much. Huge COD fan all of my life, but less so in recent years, and I just feel overwhelmed and have no sense of enthusiasm to actually take the time to learn and experiment with everything because the overabundance of meaningless stuff in the game. Your videos are the only reason why I haven't given up completely, but I hardly play COD these days. I really hope they simplify the attachment system and take COD back to a time where there was less choices, but each choice was more meaningful. Sometimes less is more. Thanks for making this video.
Glad you addressed this! I've avoided playing MWIII all together for this exact reason. I get maybe 1 or 2 days a week to play for a few hours and literally cant keep up with all the new things being added. I wanted to play recently but they added akimbo models which everyone was spamming and now its the BP50 and I dont have either of them so ill just end up getting destroyed by the meta in my kind of lobbies. I don't mind new content but there's just too much to keep up this at this point. I just want to hop on and play the game without worrying about getting the new meta gun and essentially giving the enemy the advantage of having the better gun.
The only thing I agree with are the attachments. There are too many with similar/same stats. But the amount of guns, maps, characters/skins are amazing. I love that I can go back to MW2 weapons, skins and maps in MW3. I think for the maps, we do need more playlist. A dedicated MW2 playlist and a separate sized maps playlist like “medium” and “large” playlist would be a good addition to the game.
In quick play,I feel like I’ve been playing rust and shipment WAY too much lately. They need to have more variety in the map voting, it always the same maps going against each other.
My complaint about the game is that with how weak the killstreaks are, I find myself mindless pushing things and overly challenging fights that I didn't used to because there really isn't a good reason to stay alive because of how worthless, easily shot down and weak the killstreaks are. You shouldn't be able to shoot down at 1250 score VTOL with a clip and a half of a lmg.
Yeah. The only points I'll give him is in regards to skins (But that's more of an issue of CoD's artstyle being dogshit thanks to Fortnite style crossovers and not sticking to a military aesthetic.) and attachments where there are straight up 'Best in slot' versions that **literally** make others redundant. Like, if there was even 1 tradeoff between them, (Eg: ADS Grip, Faster ADS grip but with recoil penalty) it wouldn't be an issue, since it lets people min-max to the stats they want (That's why I liked weapon tuning in MW2 even though we needed a better UI for it for people to understand the stat changes.).
Absolutely. Keep adding more weapons, we still need more like the M60E3, USP.45, FAD from MW3, AA-12, AS VAL, Barret 50. Etc. This "content bloating" is just nonsense to cry about like drowning on a tear of water
Let’s be very clear, CONTENT BLOAT is NOT TOO MUCH CONTENT rather CONTENT BLOAT is TOO MUCH of the SAME THING. Content bloat is too much content that is just repeats or the same. For example, just take a look at the smg category or lmg category.
I'm glad you brought up the guns feeling bland. I remember when guns were distinguishable and unique and you knew exactly how to use that weapon. Nowadays, they're your usual grunts in campaign comparatively to the main characters who are fun to listen and play as in each mission.
Dude if anything too much content is never too much. MW3 is good because there is so much ways you can make your weapons and utilise even the old weapons. This video really feels like a blatant way to move people to the next COD game by downplaying MW3 which according to you has been the best COD game in years
I like the huge variety because there's so much weird, fun stuff with the gunsmithing. You can make cool, tactical-looking builds or just ridiculous stuff, or you can try to maximize/minimize in a certain direction to see what comes out. It's fun. Wish there were more groundwar maps though. It's what I play the most, and we haven't had any post-launch maps like MW2 had.
No, Vanguard may be my favourite game (yes, I know. But I really had fun) was the best example of bloated content. Every gun had at least 2 more ammo conversions which turned it into a new gun essentially. Like how the Automaton had the base ammo, 6.5mm Sakura and 8mm Klauser. Since all ammo types had different fire rates, damages and even recoil, it was basically 3 guns in 1. And this was literally the case for every gun which had 2 or 3 different ammo types. MWIII 2023 hasn’t reached that point yet. Some guns have aftermarket kits which might turn them into a different gun, but it’s not on every gun. So I’m fine with it
Vanguard handled it better and wasnt bloated. You the player chose how the gun played at different ranges making vanguard more balanced especially against sbmm the matchmaking system that doesn't want players to have different play style. Why you think the community called it a bad game??
But those ammo conversions are either slower ttk but more accurate or more damge and faster ttk everyone gonna go to the second option its not really variety like how you make it out to be
I miss Vanguard. I loved Blitz mode. I really enjoyed the chaos having more players on the map brings. A lot of MW 2 and MW3 maps are boring because there aren't enough players for the size of the map. Once you've had that level of action, 6v6 just doesn't cut it anymore.
@@goldenwolf_gamingYTexactly, vanguard was a good game , but had no personality. Ir was not a ww2 game . Sbmm was not so strict and maps where fast paced.
I hope BO6 fixes the attachment bloat by making tuning change the power of an attachment, rather than slot-based options. Let me make my compensator tank my stats while giving me massive recoil reduction, or make it a small change to both. That way, the angled grip you mentioned, can be just option with a ton of cosmetic option. So many MW2 attachments were adjusting the same stats, but different magnitudes. This could also be a good excuse to bring back optic tuning
Then that's your problem lmao. Imagine looking on internet for weapon loadouts to have fun in the game 😂, just play with what you like, you don't have to make an investigation of what works for you, you can drop Nukes with the most obscure weapon class and nothing matters

The problem I have with map rotation right now, is that it isn't a rotation. 1. Map voting, means that certain maps never get played. 2. With non persistent lobbies/servers, there is now actual rotation, just a random map choice/mode, and you can easily play the same map again after playing it.
I for one am happy with the content we’ve got in MWIII, am 47 yr old father of two who works full time and I’ve still managed to finish Interstellar and all prestige calling cards…time to grind Zombies
If I understand your example, when we pick a specific attachment from the default list, you grind to unlock it as usual. Once the item is unlocked, show only that attachment and the two defaults when you gunsmith your weapon. If you want a different attachment, open the default, select the one you want cosmetically and grind for that attachment. Basically allow the players to choose how bloated they want their attachment categories to be. That's kind of the reason behind the favourite menu which IMO is additional added bloat. I don't use that since I can only have 10 custom loadouts. I keep changing my loadouts since the devs nerf my favourites and I have to start over trying to find the right balanced weapons and attachments that suit my play. There's also space for 2 more weapon loadouts so why not allow 12? That view just seems incomplete to me. Thanks for the vid Ace, hope the devs follow your suggestion.
I agree. Balance! There are basically four possible attachments that I consider with the exception of barrel, laser/light, and grip. There are usually 1-2 choices for me in those categories. When it comes to AR, SMG, or BR.
As a casual CoD player, completely agree with all of this! Feel deterred from playing as I only have a small amount of time to play each week and I dont want to have to spend all that time Googling which guns, attachments etc are relevant after weapon balance patch 963 Love the attachments idea, much easier to manage and could have some fun making visually distinct guns Would be nice to have a map filter option when searching for games as some of my favourites from early on never seem to show up anymore
I thought this was just me and I’ve believed it for a while. Especially for a casual-to-casual high player. I’m glad it’s been highlighted by such a platform
6:11 I don't understand why we think we need new guns and aftermarket parts all the time to stay fresh. Me personally that was never a problem in the old CODS so why it is a problem now?
In terms of weapons and attachments absolutely yes. But nothing else, I like having my paid-for cosmetics carry forward. But I do like the feeling of a new CoD with no clowns jumping around, so I think a good idea would be to temporarily lock purchased skins in a new CoD for the pre-season, and then in Season 1 simply unlock it for those who have purchased.
@TheXclusiveAce : I really agree with you on the gun and attachment point. We have waayyyy too many options that really don’t change things much. That was one of the first things I actually noticed when I started playing MW3 and my exact thought was, I will have little time to invest to get and use most of the items. That paired with the reality that there really isn’t much of a difference. You just end up looking up what has the best stats and running with it. I like your idea of pairing things down and using cosmetics (if the cosmetics are even necessary), but I understand many people like changing their look, so it’s a good option for them to consider doing rather than creating more bloat. On the map tip, I agree that more options are better, with the caveat that they need to really put in the work to make truly good maps that create good variety and play well. Additionally, they can spend the other time and energy into improving the overall game performance and stability. To me, that matters more than having 25 guns in each category and creating yet another cosmetic. I’m not saying take away the cosmetics, just don’t prioritize them. I’m one of those players that enjoys a good campaign as well as a good multiplayer. So if the focus were on great story content, campaign, overall game stability, and a balanced/reasonable amount of gun/weapon options, I think they would be able to maintain a truly great game that would create the type of following they would be proud of. Oh, and lest I forget, they have to include a really effective anti-cheat system and process with that also. We all want a fair and safe gaming space.
I find it super tacky how we spent 2 years on the MW universe and the leaked killstreaks and weapons for BO6 are the same things we've seen from BOCW or are tacky reskins from MWIII. The separation of the CoD universes is super important for this reason. Seeing the same weapons for 2 years straight gives a lot of us content burnout and the hard reset we get yearly helped prevent that massively.
Idk if this is a valid opinion. You can't make an FPS type game anytime post 1960 without including an M4/M16/AR15 platform and an AK/AKM platform. The IRL popular and most used platforms have to be represented in the game.
@@Real_Beaky that has nothing to do with the same killstreaks for 3 years in a row, and on top of that all aerial killstreaks are absolute dogshit so the only streaks worth using are low streaks. they cant just keep reusing these shit streaks, give us anything new and it would be better.
I think MW19 had attachments in the perfect spot, especially since there were a good deal of attachments that were exclusive to the weapons they were on, like the snatch grip on the PKM or the bolt attachments on the SPR, exclusive weapon attachments and conversion kits can go a long way to help with weapons identity
This video makes no sense. This is not like a fighting game, you don’t need to learn every matchup or anything like that. It’s actually nice there’s a lot of guns and attachments even if they’re essentially the same because making cool guns is also another part of this game, just some weird nitpicky complaints.
@@RipVanWinkle-zm7vs The problem is spending time on "useless" content (which could be spent on more useful things) and that a simple balance could have the same practical effect
Agreed. He rides a fine line on subjective and objective in his videos. His takes are way too analytical imo, seems almost empathy-lacking at times. Some people like the variety of options
@@maxmiller262 As for me, I find most of his analyzes superficial and even "common sense", perhaps this was the first minimally decent analysis I saw him do (but I think it could still be improved)
I like the large variety of weapons and attachments. What I don’t like is how poorly balanced some attachments and weapons are. No muzzle attachment (besides JAK BFB) should give anything over a 10% ADS penalty. I also wish more underbarrels could be reworked, and have them provide better bonuses. I hate having to use the same small pool of attachments because there are so many that aren’t good enough to use. I’m not asking for any of them to be OP either. Most of the weapon specific MW2 attachments need MAJOR reworks too. Things like barrels and stocks on weapons like the AUG, P90, Lachmann Sub, etc. They have waaaayyy too many negatives and not enough positives to make them worth using.
The bloat is real and the consumer is as much at fault here as the studios. With everyone craving a change in games since live service has become the standards game companies are always in a rush to put more and more in, at that's come at the expense of each games identity. I think most of us that played BO2 can also name nearly every gun and map in that game despite playing so long ago. Would a lot of people actually enjoy a stripped down version of cod with like 30 guns total again? Probably not. But the attachment issue for sure could use a fix like that, nobody needs 80 different underbarrels
I dont mind weapons and maps carry forward because how many times are we going to see the m4, mp5,m16,ak,ect and ect same with map like shipment, rust, dome ect
It's fine. It gives us something to do every week with challenges for attachment unlocks and weapon kits. However, many attachments I just don't use unless they are unique. I think that's the problem. Too many redundant attachments if anything. I use maybe 10% of all the available attachments in the game for all my loadouts.
So everyone wants to cry that we don't get enough content and that its only drip fed to us, yet now that they're actually holding it down and giving us a good amount of content y'all want to cry about too much content. I love this channel and am extremely grateful for all you do for us as the community as well as your helpful input for the game that the devs sometimes actually act upon..... But at this point it really seems like people just find a reason to complain just for the sake of doing so smdh.🤦😑
tbh i like the updates i just dont know why they had to port all the mw2 weapons over to mw3. they’re basically all unusable with the exception of a couple and with the dogshit ui and the 300+ attachments for each gun it does get annoying asf trying to figure out what grip u should use on a weapon when theres 4-5 grips that all help in the same area idk its just convoluted
Yes this game is extremely bloated. Operators porting over was nice but there was no reason for guns to port over in MP. A bunch of guns have virtually the same stats. It’s redundant and filler. So many attachments to scroll through as well, it’s ridiculous. This game had enough weapons at launch on its own and the map content was good, so this is just way too much and could have been easily avoided. Porting over old content from the game last year that’s on the same application, is not content that MWIII can actually claim. It’s just filler bs.
Jol Berti Yes, agreed. More maps are good and that’s what MWIII has done right (with 6v6/10v10 - with Ground War and Gunfight it’s lacking). The guns and attachments are what spoil this game.
I think that having multiple guns filling the same roles is fine because there are some guns I like visually more than others. When I can pick which gun I like the looks of more without sacrificing a specific role is nice. I dont like having to use the same guns as everyone else if I dont like it because its just better.
7:50 Mark. Wouldn’t you say that the argument you are making here is the same argument the devs made with mounted kills and all the other camo grind kills that you were against. Normally I agree with almost everything you say but I feel like your comment contradicts your previous comments about how the camo grinding worked in mw2019.
I don’t play cod a whole lot, but I feel like it’s almost just a cosmetic choice. And as a firearms enthusiast, I like having the choice of using a gun I like, even if it performs the same as 5 other guns.
My problem is that I want Tarkov levels of weapon customization with CoD-style gameplay. I want to build an awesome clone-correct Mk.18 Mod 0, and then run around on Rust like a chicken with its head cut off hosing people down with M855A1, I want take some random .308 Saiga and drag it through a Zenitco warehouse until it's barely recognizable, and I want to turn Shipment into a permanent reminder of why Marines love their M1014s. And most of all, for the love of God I want to use actual, licensed versions of the guns, not some shitty knockoff that makes my inner gun nut scream in horror (WHY FENNEC, WHY? KRISS OFFERED TO LET YOU USE THE VECTOR FOR FREE, WHY WOULDN'T YOU USE THE DAMM THING?)
The issue is that the game is not based on team work and everyone is playing for their personal reasons. For camow ,for kills ,to unlock an attachment or to do a challenge. So essentially you dont play a game ,to win . That is the only game that plays this way. All this content means nothing most play small maps to unlock things. Rank is great tho
as long the content has quality then it is fine. i actually like seeing all of those guns in the game and the attachment. they all server their purpose and those difference are what make the guns unique. since you might like how one attachment feels over the other. variety is a great thing to have
I heavily agree with you with the attachment solution and simplifying it down to multiple small choices with a large variety of cosmetic choices; For underbarrels we'd have 1 angled grip and 1 short angled grip, a fore grip and a stubby grip, a bipod, a foregrip bipod, and underbarrel weapons. For sights, since the sight category is especially bloated, we could have irons, red dots, holo sights, hybrids, short range sights (2x - 4x), mid range (5x - 8x), long range (9x and over), and a thermal category. This could especially work well with optic customizations since we could not only choose the optic cosmetic but also the sight reticle and (wishful thinking, i know) sight color. The biggest downside that i can see seeing how acti can bloat the BP with sight/grip cosmetics and reticles while leaving out potential and actually cool cosmetics.
I have to disagree with you Ace. I don’t think having too many of the same gun or attachment is pushing players away. Wardens, cheating, and matchmaking is pushing people away
Agree, it's so annoying trying a new gun to switch things up for fun and realising that it's basically just the same as the other 3 guns you've used already today.
I use to feel same way, but I’ve come to really appreciate it. Other than brand new gun drops you see such a wide array of guns in some games and same for attachments. The key in my opinion is having proper balance and if that’s accomplished I think the crazy amount of guns and melees are fun. I have my warzone load outs of course but on multiplayer I’ll change it up often and use random sniper or marksman rifles etc.
As a casual player I enjoy the variety. But while I liked the Carry Forward thing, I hate that nearly all MWII guns are not competitive with the new MWIII guns. I knew it was gonna be that way from the beginning, I mean they have to sell skins somehow. But for the most part MWII weapons are just bloat. Also the conversion kits are cool, but the latest M16 kit was kind of annoying. It just turned it into an M4 with the old long barrel from MW2019. Not really anything new.
On the maps front, I would love to see more curated playlists that cycle more often. 2-3 weekly moshpit playlists that have 5 hand selected maps a piece would be very nice
The best way to deal with attachment problem for me is to use little bit more attachments than MW19 had (make three types of stat attachemts: little buff, mid buff - little nerf, big buff - mid nerf). Instead of adding like 100 versions of the same reflex sight, make it that you unlock only the basic one, but you can unlock different skins for this sight by actually using it. Unlocked 2nd sight? Cool, now you can onlock 3rd one by using 2nd one and etc. Same for other copypaste attachments. UPD: i was literally 10 sec away from Ace having the same idea that i had xdd
The fact that there are myriad of different gun is enough for me, I don’t care about the stats, it is just that fresh feeling of a different gun each time.
It's the boots dilemma. Everyone use covert because it's so good that everything else is out classed. Same thing for the optics, under barrels, and muzzles. Only a few of each are actually useful or "good". Everything else is basically pointless.
If you are playing from the beginning, and have also played mw2022,then the content feels enough, but if you have not played mw2022 and have bought mw3 after season 3 then the game feels overwhelming, and will take time to complete. But it's a good for grind if your not buying this year's COD😊
The combo of 300 attachments per gun and totally unclear attachment descriptions is the issue to me. If you have that many attachments, the effects need to be clear without having to equip and test. Or streamline the attachments so you can reasonably experiment with each one
the real content bloat is the attachment system.
This. There are like 8 grips with literally same stats... I mean - wtf? Problem wouldn't be SO bad if not that "HULU" UI
Give us 4 different types of grips and give us cosmetic options for each variant. Do the same thing across all attachments; problem solved.
@@dillonc7955PERFECTLY SAID.
If they organized it better, I wouldn't have as much of an issue.
The attachment system is such a huge turn off for me. Can’t even tell how it will truly affect the weapon without a UA-cam video.
I think the real bloat issue is there’s too much stuff for how bad the UI is. Takes forever to get to what is new/ what you want.
Worst UI in gaming.
no the ui wouldnt be as much of an issue if there weren't guns carried forward. whether the ui was different or the same as it is now, it's so filler and conflated having this many weapons.
@@bobdarrick2628 the UI was bad in MWII, it’s the same. This was before carry forward.
I will never complain about too many guns or maps or anything else like that though.
too many guns is the bigger issue. it's just filler bs.
definetely agree too many attachments but the guns are cool
The guns don't have differences
MWII never had an issue with the number of guns. MWIII has a lot of maps and that's fine. it's too much content bc of the guns. u can only have so many differentiated guns. it's filler, bs and conflated having this many.
COD community: "we want more content and content carry over"
Sledgehammer: "we got you fam"
COD community: "there's so much content and all these guns from last year are still here? get your shit together Sledgehammer."
like, bruh... we finally got a dev team to listen and now we're gonna complain that they listened too well?

This! Sub-categories and more variety on effects could be good
All the guns feel the same
im not fine with the carry forward guns whatsoever

This is a great idea. I like this idea. Not the pick 10 but the categories of the attachment
So... what the video suggested?
I don’t think the new players (that came with mw2019) would be happy with a simplified attachment system. I think the idea of having 5 attachment on a gun is here to stay sadly. My favorite attachment system was in BO4 which was incredibly underrated but it was both simple and unique with the pick 10 system and each gun felt different than the other. I don’t think treyarch would simplify the skins tho because they usually go overboard with their skins and gun variants too but that’s ok since we don’t have to get them if we don’t want them.
The last two memorable weapons for me that fell outside what id considered definitive roles were the oden from mw 2019 and the side winder in mw3 ...
Channels like this don’t help with meta spam lol
The old creat a class allows you to lean into a weapons weird mechanics more than a gunsmith since most trade offs make anything but the normal attachments kinda useless
And what's the problem with having fewer weapons, wouldn't it be possible to do the same style of "non-meta classes"? But instead of them wasting time making weapons that are basically copies of each other, it would be better for them to spend that time on more useful things, like maps or solving bugs
I think I have more time in the gunsmith than the actual game, I just like making cool looking guns
It is very bloated.
For me, thats good, for warzone modes, i move with the wave, and maybe twist it a bit.
For mw3 i like i can play any mode, any way, with any gun, and make it work (mileage varies with poo guns)
Personally i love replaying war mode like an insane guy.
What you're seeing is MW3 being developed and released in real time. We now have a full game, plus all of the MW2 content bolted on from launch.
MW3 is the Fortnite of COD. They took our favorite gritty maps from MW2 and sprinkled it with sloths and cartoons.
Its all because nowadays some COD players get depression and obtain blindness if the map they're playing is not a sunny day with a bunch of colours that you may be playing Splatoon without even knowing.
We can't have nice things anymore, even the community helps Activision make this franchise even more corporate
@@BackupRealwe had that in bo3 bo4 and cw and haven't had it since

nobody wants to look at the same dogshit dirt textures. i was just complaining about this, BO2's most memorable maps all had bright colors. there is 0 appeal to looking at the same dirt textures copied and pasted.
THIS. I HATE WANTING TO PLAY NORMAL SIZED MAPS ON QUICK PLAY AND PEOPLE KEEP CHOOSING DAMN STASH HOUSE OR RUST
@@RipVanWinkle-zm7vs I will never understand people voting for those tiny ass braindead ADHD maps when there's a 24/7 small map playlist.
I think personally, there are way too many attachments. I miss the basic attachment system like the older cods
on cosmetic attachments: your idea is perfect. i think when you level up a gun you should unlock all statistically different attachments in just its own track and also unlock cosmetic variations for all guns. so you don’t have to use other guns, but you are encouraged to do so
"Too many guns" is way worse with melee weapons.
Why do we have a fuckton of melee weapons, when they fit similar role? There should be only one melee weapon, and current existing melee variety must come from 1 "attachment" you equip to melee weapon.
Modern CoD is the PERFECT example of “If it ain’t broke try and fix it” “Time to reinvent the wheel” for no good reason whatsoever
Let’s not complain about this🤣 at a push the UI and Filtering needs to be improved to make this more manageable
It is not a problem of content bloat , the problem is that all the guns are the fucking same .No variety .All the Meta ones are Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns that all look the same .
Ar or smg are not even meta
@@jolbertti7421 ARs and SMGs are always meta. 80% of a lobby is using either of those. The MWIII BRs are also just glorified ARs btw.
@@DevlVergilMy lobbies are 80% snipers.. mors is meta
I guess cod players are really impossible to satisfy
Xclusive is click baiting
@@goIdfishgamerno he’s not dude cut it out
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one Ace.
That's not how cod is. Cod is for different weapons that are different. Not the same
The manipulated matchmaking, revengespawns and hitregistration is the real issue.
I love all the content they’ve added lol been fantastic value for money so far.
Spot on Ace! You've articulated my thoughts perfectly in this video. That has been my biggest downer on MW3 is the carry over content. Too much!
Idc if some guns play the same, as long as they look different.
Same, and sound different too
Absolutely. Keep adding more weapons, we still need more like the M60E3, USP.45, FAD from MW3, AA-12, AS VAL, Barret 50. Etc. This "content bloating" is just nonsense to cry about like drowning on a tear of water
Exactly
I love guns, i look at them as cool gadgets. I like the technology of them if that makes sense. MP5, NP7, Holger (G36) ,M4.. my favorites
Absolutely love your solution to the amount of attachments!!
This is actually one of the things I love about MW3 compared to a lot of past years of CoD: there's so much variety and options for creative play!
As so much people have said, there are other real problems more than "content bloating".
Complaining about having more content, damn
So I’m fine with it
Xclusive is click baiting
I completely agree with this video, there so many similiar choices to make that I have to go to the internet when I want to make a loadout
Then that's your problem lmao. Imagine looking on internet for weapon loadouts to have fun in the game 😂, just play with what you like, you don't have to make an investigation of what works for you, you can drop Nukes with the most obscure weapon class and nothing matters

I love your idea of consolidating the attachments and just letting us choose a cosmetic variant. That would help so much and look much cleaner.
Nope bloat isn't a problem. Giving us tons of weapons to use however we want. Is good.
Ill note one thing. If they wanna reduce the number of guns, without reducing the number of guns. Just give more AMPs in future cods. M4? Cool give us an ar,br,smg, lmg amp. And so on
The problem I have with map rotation right now, is that it isn't a rotation.
Feel deterred from playing as I only have a small amount of time to play each week and I dont want to have to spend all that time Googling which guns, attachments etc are relevant after weapon balance patch 963
Love the attachments idea, much easier to manage and could have some fun making visually distinct guns
Would be nice to have a map filter option when searching for games as some of my favourites from early on never seem to show up anymore
I feel like its one of the reasons why Im so excited for xdefiant, because every gun feels good at something and being unique to itself
Content bloat is great, because I want to watch Ace’s breakdown videos everyday.
This video makes no sense. This is not like a fighting game, you don’t need to learn every matchup or anything like that. It’s actually nice there’s a lot of guns and attachments even if they’re essentially the same because making cool guns is also another part of this game, just some weird nitpicky complaints.
Honestly this is one of the strangest COD videos I have ever seen. Ace is loosing this mind since MW3 was announced
For me its more so nothing feels exciting to unlock and use if the stuff i already have is the same
@@RipVanWinkle-zm7vs The problem is spending time on "useless" content (which could be spent on more useful things) and that a simple balance could have the same practical effect

They need to bring the old attachments, quick draw grip etc it’s just too many attachments
Remember when u could only pick 2 to 3 attachments and they were so simple. Quick draw, red dot, extended mag etc. We need that back
So everyone wants to cry that we don't get enough content and that its only drip fed to us, yet now that they're actually holding it down and giving us a good amount of content y'all want to cry about too much content.
More maps? Yes
More guns? No
Xclusive is click baiting. Games with “bloated “ content last significantly longer. This guys just out of video ideas
I think the problem is clearly that they are overcompensating with content because the actual gameplay loop is not that great
I don’t play cod a whole lot, but I feel like it’s almost just a cosmetic choice.
Rank is great tho
as long the content has quality then it is fine. i actually like seeing all of those guns in the game and the attachment. they all server their purpose and those difference are what make the guns unique. since you might like how one attachment feels over the other. variety is a great thing to have
I heavily agree with you with the attachment solution and simplifying it down to multiple small choices with a large variety of cosmetic choices;
For underbarrels we'd have 1 angled grip and 1 short angled grip, a fore grip and a stubby grip, a bipod, a foregrip bipod, and underbarrel weapons.
Conversion kits should be selectable from the main gun selection screen by scrolling up, and (custom) variants should be selectable by scrolling down.
Honestly just take me back to the IW/BLOPS3 days… map packs + pick 10 over what we have now any day
It probably wouldn't happen, but a playlist only using guns from MW2 or another with only MW3 guns.
this also would be cool
Agree, it's so annoying trying a new gun to switch things up for fun and realising that it's basically just the same as the other 3 guns you've used already today.
I use to feel same way, but I’ve come to really appreciate it. Other than brand new gun drops you see such a wide array of guns in some games and same for attachments. The key in my opinion is having proper balance and if that’s accomplished I think the crazy amount of guns and melees are fun. I have my warzone load outs of course but on multiplayer I’ll change it up often and use random sniper or marksman rifles etc.
When you have so many attachments that you have to use a filter to find them, that's a problem.
I think mw3 would have been better if carry forward wasn't there it's already added so much content it didn't need the stuff from mw2
The fact that there are myriad of different gun is enough for me, I don’t care about the stats, it is just that fresh feeling of a different gun each time.
I agree with you we need a game that has 1 gun and 1 attachment.
I'm liking the amount of content
