Thank you for not talking over the trailer. I've seen so many 'reactors' do that, and it kills the flow and feel of this beautifully haunting trailer. Great reaction!
You got me at the taxi driver reference. It is character building for sure and this joker iteration feels like the joker of the comic the killing joke. Check it out if you haven’t read it. But definitely look forward to this Joker. He might surprise everyone with his portrayal of this classic villain.
I'm with you on the Taxi Driver part, except I would also add Falling Down and A Clockwork Orange to that... at least that's the vibe I get from the trailer.
Nice spotting, you're the first person to have noticed and pointed out the crowd members with the joker signs, and I've been watching joker reactions for two days now lol.
That shot of him walking down the hallway with the flowers, given what the trailer has shown is oddly and frighteningly empowering and it brought a smile to my face too. Loved your reaction.
The way this trailer made me feel is it seems like he’s the good guy at the start until harder and more complicated things happen to him until the end and we’re just sitting there watching him become the villain along.
I wish we could watch a feature-length video of you reacting as you watched the entire movie for the first time (plus a lengthy analysis afterwards!) because your insights are every bit as rewarding as watching the dance of micro-expressions across your face while you're watching!
Awesome reaction! Seeing everybody’s responses just helps in getting me more hyped for this film! Had to even respond myself the trailer was that damn good! 😁
This movie is going to be so explorational on a bunch of concepts that are going to be new when presented to the general moviegoing audience for the first time. We’ve seen different comic book movies transcend the “genre” (I don’t personally believe that there is a comic book movie genre, just comic book movie characters in different types of movies, comedy, drama, etc). Logan explored the story of fathers and Sons while also being a western tragedy. The dark Knight explored a true crime story and perhaps is one of the most disturbing depictions of terrorism. And the list goes on. I’m anticipating and unfortunately tragic story about a man who has some mental health problems, Some social anxiety perhaps, and his only tether to humanity is his mom. And when you combine that when you live in the fictitious gross city of Gotham city some social anxiety perhaps, and his only tethered to humanity is his mom. And when you combine that when you live in the fictitious gross/corrupt Gotham city, we are going to be presented with a story where we are going to watch this man snap. There might be a political undercurrent of economic politics where maybe he can’t afford his mothers medication because she is also mentally unwell. And if she were to succumb to injury or death because of that, that could stir up the political uprising of his “joker movement”. It’s going to be a very moving film and I couldn’t be more excited to see it and for it to be seen by the masses.
Martin Scorsese is one of the producers on this movie, and you can see nods to his films like Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy which stars Robert DeNiro who plays the Comedy Club host. It also plays on The Killing Joke graphic novel origin story of the Joker. His descent into madness and his transformation to the "agent of chaos". I think Beatz might be Harley Quinn, though. If she calls Phoenix "Mr. J" it's a done deal. Take my money now WB/DC!
I am so hype for this. I went in not expecting anything out of this trailer. I haven't been a huge fan of DC movies, but this has my attention and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Sad to hear it's not going to be connected to the cinematic universe. But I really hope it's good enough to help spawn another cinematic universe. Because if he pulls this off, this could be second best next to Ledger
Now that was a proper reaction! Very good. Edit. So i looked at your channel and enjoyed the videos But there's big gap in the frequency of your uploads. Are you going to be regular again cos i would like to subscribe. Have a good day ahead!
I'm glad Marvel (Endgame) brought you out of your movie reaction hiatus. Missed seeing your takes. Anyway, after reading the note to himself about knowing he's mentally disturbed and the world wanting him to act normal readily catapulted the film to R status for me. This is not going to be your typical comic book movie. There will some adult themes here that some will seriously wrestle with. I've seen the trailer a few times and it weighs a bit more on me every time.
I don't know if anyone will follow this, but this reminds me of Blue Velvet in the fact that this seems to be mostly a "wonderful" place with darkness that the people do not want to see. Only a thought. I could go on
Every reaction to this trailer is like awww...what!?....WOW!!!....Can't wait to see this...OMG!!!...you're like...well we'll see...I'll give it a chance. Your an intellectual. I appreciate you reaction. Plus, your hot....wait what!?
Really excellent parallels. Bit of Falling Down + Taxi Driver. My take from this movie based on some simple signs: His note said: "The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave like you don't" - initially I thought it was about him, but I'm not so sure... That, and the commissioner's statement about how Gotham has fallen and someone who does something so cold blooded has to hide behind a mask... After that, he takes the mask off but still paints one on his face, has a following of mask wearing people creating some chaos, and so on... Basically, outside of the society beating him down stuff (but still a part of that) he has seen the hypocrisy of it all - everyone has a mental illness like him... everyone is wearing a mask, he's been a victim of it despite being judged of it, so now he's become a funhouse mirror reflection of the world the way he sees it. He's gonna expose it with his own army of mask wearing "crazies", etc. etc. sort of similar to what Heath did in Dark Knight, but it's gonna work - it's gonna be much more chaotic. A man who couldn't laugh had to force it so hard despite it all that one day...he found couldn't stop laughing.
A year or two ago, in one of the DC Comics comic book stories, Batman gets the opportunity to sit in The Mobius Chair, which has access to knowledge about the entire universe. He asks it for the real name of The Joker. Batman is shocked to find out that there are THREE JOKERS. This DC Comics movie, given the time frame when the events in it take place (the early-1980s), may be telling the origin story of the man (the pre-Batman Joker), who inspired all of the others to take up the name of "The Joker" in his memory or tribute for what he did.
Always love your reactions and comments very informative young lady. I wish you could tell us what happened with your brother hope all is well. And I'm still pissed I haven't seen a black panther trailer reaction from you. love you take care.
They're going for a realistic and psychological approach by using mental illness in the development of a psychotic mind to lead the alter ego of Joker. In Arthur Fleck's case which shows in the trailer that he's not mentally all there. Arkham State Hospital (Asylum) looks like he's doing outpatient treatment for his illness due to for the weight loss for the film. A lot of easter eggs alone in the trailer, it's DC's first rated R film with strong language and graphic violence. It's not going to scar the minds of audiences but scarring that sugarcoated DC world. Marvel had done it first with Logan and Deadpool, so good timing for DC to uppen their game in a darker tone and finally being adults about it.
Glad to see another fan. Seen your reactions years ago just left a comment on one. Love this trailer. Keep it up! And you are pretty as eff! Do some modeling!
Man goes to the doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci!"
I have watched 300 or so of these reaction videos and not a single person despite all the clues and things they are picking out etc ect, have mentioned the religious symbolism when they say gotham has lost its way and then the joker is shown doing his jesus/crucified pose in the mirror as if he thinks of himself becoming the savior of gotham and is sacrificing himself to try to do it so to speak. That to me was the most powerful, telling moment in the whole trailer.
Everyone keeps saying that this movie has a Taxi Driver type vibe when it has more of Scorcese's other underrated film"King of Comedy"with the smallest touch of Taxi Driver
Her smile is dangerously beautiful. She better use it wisely that's some love at first sight material right there. Her voice and her speech too. Goddamn.
The "following/groupies" is very reminiscent of the whole Anonymous movement. I need to watch The King of Comedy but had seen Taxi Driver already. I'm thinking he's struggling with work and is most likely giving more of his share of food to his mom hence his skinniness. I also think his mom might be getting dementia and she's at that point where she cannot bathe herself or else she would just be sitting in the water wondering why, and for what purpose. He's also trying to keep her mind alert and trying his hardest to slow down the progression of the disease by dancing with her, a perfect time for an exposition "dump". My mother's aunt who used to be a teacher in the Philippines developed/had dementia. My mom would keep telling me how smart and quick-witted she was. Towards the end of her life, she regressed and became more and more childlike. At one point my "uncle" or should I say my mom's nephew had to constantly "babysit" her and tried his hardest to prevent or at least slow down the disease's progression. I remember the last time I spoke to her face to face when visiting my dad's family down in LA for Xmas. He brought her over to each and every one of us. The first thing he said when they came over to me to say hello was, "Mom, do you remember who this is?" It was heartbreaking to hear her try her best, but eventually saying out loud, "I'm sorry but I can't remember who you are". He had to tell her who I was, and of course, it didn't make a difference at that stage of the disease. I'm sure a lot of exposition will take place in scenes between them. like "mom, do you remember what you told me when I wanted revenge on those kids who bullied me?" I think once she has gone, by passing away, or by being sent to Arkham by the social worker, he won't have her as a buffer, to keep him from flipping out and becoming the Joker. Hopefully, this film will be the perfect intro to a Joker trilogy without Batman. I'll check back when the next trailer airs. My thoughts on Joaquin vs. Jared...LOL www.ebay.com/itm/The-Killing-Joke-Of-Joker-Joaquin-Phoenix-Jared-Leto-Funny-Black-T-shirt/192874069758?hash=item2ce830befe:m:m2p9hu_lqYI84J-kZerc3_w&frcectupt=true
Watch the king of comedy . That's how Robert de niro will be involved to an extent. Plus there are many origins of the joker. That's why it's so awesome
I doubt he was trying to make anyone happy, he was trying to be a comedian , he is just trying to live with the mental problems and be able to adapt but everyone thinks he is too odd , and the actor is naturally skinny but always put weight on for parts
you just got home from work..."Modeling? holy mackerel...you are stunning...sorry, off topic. Thank you for your reaction! really great! and thank you for not talking through the trailer and such. You actually watched it and then reacted. Your insights are perfect.
This movie is talking about what is really happening now in USA society and the entire world the director and the author what you to discover the hidden symbols in the movie ( that if you are smart NOT an idiot )
Sick of taxi driver blah blah blah, i felt falling down and the comedian but now we hear from the director it was the man who laughs and the killing joke as well as the aforementioned.🥃🍺
The way he popped up from behind the wall was just perfect. Phoenix is gonna nail this.
Thank you for not talking over the trailer. I've seen so many 'reactors' do that, and it kills the flow and feel of this beautifully haunting trailer. Great reaction!
Rebel Scum
Then just watch the trailer lol
thats just content theft. you got to pause and give ur thoughts and make it transformative. otherwise you could just go watch the original video
You know taxi driver? You got my complete attention
You got me at the taxi driver reference. It is character building for sure and this joker iteration feels like the joker of the comic the killing joke. Check it out if you haven’t read it. But definitely look forward to this Joker. He might surprise everyone with his portrayal of this classic villain.
Exactly.
Correct, they took parts of The Killing Joke and put in this movie, cant wait to see this one
Per everyone's advice, I just watched King of Comedy! And oh my goodness, do I see the similarities!! Can't wait for the next trailer!
"I used to think that, my life was a tragedy. But now I realize it's a comedy"
That shot of him walking down the hallway with the flowers, given what the trailer has shown is oddly and frighteningly empowering and it brought a smile to my face too. Loved your reaction.
Oscar!!!!! #Joker
The way this trailer made me feel is it seems like he’s the good guy at the start until harder and more complicated things happen to him until the end and we’re just sitting there watching him become the villain along.
The flowers the Joker is holding are for Arthurs mother. He just arrived at her apartment. They are goodbye flowers.
his mother dying plus society is what turned him into the Joker .. those flowers are for Zazie Beats character
June
Both of ya'll called it.LoL
Those flowers are fake lol
I wish we could watch a feature-length video of you reacting as you watched the entire movie for the first time (plus a lengthy analysis afterwards!) because your insights are every bit as rewarding as watching the dance of micro-expressions across your face while you're watching!
One of the greatest songs ever, Smile when your herartvis broken....... Thänks Charlie..... 😰
Subbed immediately after you mentioned Taxi Driver -- my favorite movie ever. As for "Joker"... it looks amazing.
Congratulations! You officially have the cutest smile on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing.

To this day, this trailer is a masterpiece
your face reactions are fantastic. Great trailer reaction and what an amazing movie. Cheers!
Welcome back to doing reactions! Used to watch you and your brother a while back.
"People just wanna slap happiness in the face". Pretty accurate.
YES!!! Taxi Driver was also my first thought too!!!
First time watching one of your videos, and gosh you’re soooooo beautiful! And nice reaction/review by the way
Your reaction to this trailer was AWESOME!

If you aren’t familiar with King of Comedy, check it out. This feels very much like that.
Both King of Comedy and Taxi Driver came to mind.
It's also has a Ceaser Romero the man who laughs feel to it.
Now that was a proper reaction! Very good.
Edit. So i looked at your channel and enjoyed the videos But there's big gap in the frequency of your uploads. Are you going to be regular again cos i would like to subscribe. Have a good day ahead!
De Niro plays a version of Johnny Carson. If you see the screen it matches Johnny Carson's talk show
Todd Phillips said Phoenix was the only actor he considered playing the role.

You like Taxi Driver! Instant like.

Joaquin just lost his soul ..
Yeaaaaa
And gained an Oscar?
Every reaction to this trailer is like awww...what!?....WOW!!!....Can't wait to see this...OMG!!!...you're like...well we'll see...I'll give it a chance. Your an intellectual. I appreciate you reaction. Plus, your hot....wait what!?
Its like His desent into complete madness....
Joker always had clown thugs. In the early comics and cartoon his minions were all circus themed (some with actual deformities.)
Great review! Can't wait for October!
Spot on with the Taxi Driver comparison.
As a former taxi driver who worked the graveyard shift, it's pretty crazy out there.
Mix of Cesar Romero, Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson ❤️
I’m excited for this movie! And you are stunning by the way!
THE BEST TRAILER of THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do well as a single trailer reactor, your brother add to it but you a great job. keep it up.
Really excellent parallels. Bit of Falling Down + Taxi Driver.
