I think of it as a mash up between World Wrestling shenanigans and real fighting. 🤷♂️ I enjoy the spiel especially off Conor MacGregor when he show boats but after his matches he’s always very sportsman.
If arrogance and dirty antics were shown in any fight, the referee should give 5 sec at most time before stopping the fight to destroy cocky players...
I still do not understand why there aren´t strict rules for behaviour. Especially outside of the ring. If someone is cocky or stupid in the ring, it is his problem. But attacking and provoking on all the other occassions? There should be severe penaltys that really hurt. But maybe everyone wants to see such cocky behaviour. Otherwise there would be already strict rules for respecting your opponent or leave the arena before you even get to fight. Buuuut... that might be just me with a thing for a more peaceful and respectful world ^^"
It also shows a trained fighter involving an innocent bystander in their antics. If I were his coach, I would have made a point of quitting on the spot, denouncing him as someone with too little discipline to be in any combat sport and apologizing profusely to the entire world for helping train someone undeserving of such skills. The guy should also be banned from the sport for this. I can't believe he got away with it. As a side-note, 5:29 also shows sexual assault to some extent.
That's reserved for TRUE fighters - the ones who don't have to rely on looking 'cool' or intimidating. In all fairness, I think promoters are at fault too for wanting to create good guy VS bad guy fights to draw an enticed crowd, or showing over-the-top fighters for entertainment value. Any amateur who gets a chance to go pro will probably face the temptation of making a lasting impression to further their career even if they lose. For if they don't, the only way forward is winning. Let's hope being a nice guy gets into fashion again soon! I really love to see fighters being kind to each other outside of the ring. My late dad used to love to watch boxing and one of the very first things he told young me about it was that many boxers would be friends outside of the ring.
