      @@acomment2242 thanks for the comment. I would highly recommend the app, I got the subscription last year and honestly imagine I’ll be paying it for the rest of my life now ahah. Look up navionics boating app and you should be able to find it without much hassle. The relief maps had me sold but it’s excellent while boating if you do do any fishing off shore. Also measures distances which can be handy. I think they do a 7 day free trial which you could use. Make sure to try the different map overlays if you do.

    With regards to the fishing in the Arbroath area, there are some excellent anglers out there getting big bags of fish and some decent specimens too, with the demise of the Shore Angler forum, most of the lads went onto private facebook sites, so their catches are no longer reported in the public domain. With some swell and some colour in the water you can get Cod from Aberdeen down to Dundee, best to fish most of the marks with a mate, never turn your back on the water, sadly we have lost anglers from these marks, never take the sea for granted. You will need some rough ground gear, no place for beach rods, I use 80 or 100lb braid straight through with a couple of metres for a rubbing strip of 100lb nylon, 2/0 or 4/0 pennel pulley rigs and cocktail baits after the crabs have moved away from the shore. Don't cast too far, drop one rod in close around 20/30 metres out, I have never done any good when there's a bright moon shining and travel light, you may have to move about. So arrive in the daylight and sus out the marks before it gets dark, if you fish a tide up, make sure of the ground behind you, don't go wandering out onto the skerries without watching your back.

    • @UntouchedFishing
      @UntouchedFishing  Рік тому

      yeah that shop is my second home ahah. I have never fished granton specifically. I had a session the next pier east from there a few weeks back and have fished Queensferry once. didn't get much luck at either. lots of crabs up at Queensferry. im hoping for this wind to die down as im hoping to do a urban fishing video fishing all the Edinburgh pier marks. have you had much luck fishing it? I imagine it will be a long shot to get on the cod but there's got to be a chance hasn't there?

    • @rikokaboom7644
      @rikokaboom7644 Рік тому

      @@UntouchedFishing newhaving guessing ya mean, usually at hightest tide theres a ledge that goes down and a row of boulders all across the pier, then a kelp bed 4-5m wide and all across again, cast behind it will get you a few fish, heard of doggies and wee codling, but granton is 3x better , go to the curve of the breakwater cast 50 yards out, that will get u just ahead of the kelp bed and thats where the cod will be, 3 cod caught there few days ago by a mate, 6lb 3lb and 2lb, but dont have high hopes becuase thats the first time ive seen such fish caught there, pulley rig with size 2/0 top hook and 4/0 bottom and other rod 2 hook flapper or 3 with size 1 hooks, will get u on the better whiting, while able to catch flatties, and the smaller codling

    its all about the right time right place i guess mate, some really nice little haddock you got there as for Arbroath being the cod capital of the country though im not sure about that, im from the north east of England and the catch reports around here are pretty consistent with good fish 5-10lb but its always the people who are out all the times at silly hours in perfect seas with handed down knowledge of marks and knowing where to cast from them marks. look for the features under water etc. however in terms of youtube land consistency in size and number Chesil beach in Dorset looks to be the best fishing spot in the country to throw up good fish and the odd species too. and if you just want a giant cod/ ling /coalie or pollock you could always go to Norway or even better the Shetland islands off north Scotland p.s for the time and effort you put in the two haddocks are better than a blank but not particularly good tbh i know of three or four people whom have caught similar sized haddock at mouth of wear and tyne and blyth pier

      I would love a trip down to chesil. Be a fair drive from Edinburgh but I think next summer it will happen- try for some bass too. The truth is I was not happy with this session. 18 hours of fishing for 2 small haddock was definitely not what I was looking for ( especially as it costs me about 100 quid😂). cheers for the comment and advice 👍
