That area you fished is what the locals call clay hole and it can Chuck some nice bags of fish out in the right conditions and them chalets you called them is the yatch club
Fished south coast mark Friday morning from 08:15 to 01:00 Saturday morning. Blanked. To be fair though, I was fishing really, really big, did have one big knock after dark. Despite this, there was nowhere I would have rather been. Went down with the weight of the world and mind racing, but by the end of the 16 hours I was there a million miles better. Great content mate.
I totally relate, enjoyed so many long waits on moderately uncomfortable beaches and rock marks. Low-tide retrieved lost leads to recast when I get round to a melting and casting sesh. Motionless rod tips (even when relieving myself), consider the weight of bait I've used the last x months and the weight of fish caught. About the same I guess. I like digging worms as well😀. Not been for quite a while and the calling is happening again. Will let you know👍

Glad to hear it Graeme! If you're on Facebook search for your local SAC group or Lincolnshire beach fishing. Sure there will be plenty of helpful folk to guide you to a couple spots. Or just go for a drive out one day 👍🏼 let me know how you get on.
If you do fish there again the best place I’ve found there is to fish between the chalet and the concrete bunker, I fished there a few weeks ago and done quite well. There was roughly 15 anglers and believe everyone caught decent fish. You do need a decent sea running. I have fished a couple of marks there and I found the beach fished best. Great video as usual.
@@theawfulangler I have tried the Air Speed, Air Torque & the big one Air Power, all cracking rods. The Air Torque is a belter as you can still load with over head thump and pendulum it. Never mind mate we have all been there at one point, at least the paddle boarders didn't take your line. Yeah I was lure fishing on a spot that has a 5knot restriction. Anyway, captain d1ckh€@d comes flying through at about 30knots snapping me off instantly. Needless to say, when he came flying back down the estuary, there was a lump of rock went his way, which invoked a good discussion about his actions and consideration of others!

Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave can take a huge northerly north-westerly sea so if you want to fish it again next year just as it’s dropping off but it can be very very weedy big thick salks of kelp which can spoil it I normally fish of them granite blocksAs you walk down the ramp and straight out into that I rocky outcrop I fish the EOBC most years but you need to be on the beach early Richard
Great tips buddy. I was gutted when I saw how flat it had gone. But that's luck of the draw when you live inland. A couple lads were setting up on the jetty as I came off. Assume to fish a couple hours down in to dark. Wonder how they got on 🤔 I've fished the EOBC once and it was carnage. Haha, may as well sleep on the beach!
Its a shame you didn't catch at Runswick its a really good cod mark .I've fished for many years as its close to where I live but you do need a bit of sea running for it to fish well. If you decide to fish it again in more suitable conditions you will find it becomes extremely weedy so you need strong gear and simple rigs. Looking forward to your next video. Good luck.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but if you had the choice of the 3 piece rod, or a similar priced 2 piece which would you prefer and why? A lot of experienced fishermen try to tell me to avoid 3 piece without a reason other than "They're crap" Grounds would be beach/mixed/occasional heavy
It's a good question pal, and the honest answer is all down to personal choice. The 3 piece and the collapsible rod stand mean they fit nicely either across the back seats or in the back of my little swb connect. And for beach and mixed fishing I love the fury. I do also have 2 piece rods which I'll be using on the heavy ground marks and for bigger specimens this summer. Again they're great. You could argue a 2 piece has less joints and the taper is more even meaning it compresses (bends) more along its length. But the 3 piece rods are fine for me. Bit of a politians answer 😅 but my honest opinion.
Hey up , we've chatted before , I've done a load of coarse match fishing but never tried the sea ! Its a whole new world and so interesting . Its great that you give loads of detail about set / gear etc. but can I just ask , what do you mean by being clipped up ! . Do you hook one into another expecting it to unclip after casting ? ? ?
Hiya mate! It all depends on the rig. But essentially yes, you clip the hooks down so it stays more aerodynamic when casting and doesn't get as tangled. Some rigs clip the hook lengths to one another, some clip down to the weight, some do some real fancy stuff 😅 but the intention is that it all releases on impact
Are you still getting wet in the imax suite. Only asking as someone recommended a top to me. Quite expensive but said you will not get wet in it so wanted to know if it’s worth spending the extra as opposed to a imax suite
@@theawfulangler guy cotton schmok has been recommended to me. It’s 300 odd though but the material was probably the best material I’ve ever felt. He’s had it 7 years and looks like new he said he wears it loads. Was considering it but it’s costly so thought I’d ask your review on the imax
It's not the catching that is important, it's getting out and enjoying our sport. ( blanked last weekend magazine drive/Pensarn beech 🤷♂️😅😅) Great vlog 😀. Thanks for taking the time to share. Hope you and the crew are well mate 👍 tight line's 👍
Can be a good place to fish, 🎣🎣but due to the masses of weed you can get on a big sea I would advise a stiffish rock rod. If you want to see what I mean, watch fish hunter UK video. He fished there, I think it was 1year ago,in rough conditions. 🫣😲 Some nice holes on the rocks you were on, and lots of lads fish the blue yacht club on the beach.👍 I've tried the large blocks at the bottom of the bank twice. Nowt. Just sore ankles, they are sh*t to walk on, and if you drop owt it's gone for good.🥺 From what I've heard it's been pretty poor for cod between Hartlepool and Whitby area this cod season. 🥺Most blaming the crab, lobster etc die off, which they are still "investigating".🤔🤔 Good luck on your quest and all the very best to you, your wife, and especially your son.❤️ Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Cheers Ian! I've seen some good fish come out on social media sites this year. But at the same time, you never know how many 100's of blanks are happening either. Another month and should start to see the start of the spring run 🤞🏼
@The Awful Angler sometimes it's just nice to be out and appreciate the scenary. Keep reading reports and seeing pictures of Rays coming out along the Felixstowe coast, but no codling.
Haha, there won't be any footage of that Eric! Slim chance of me standing up on one. Might get the dogs on one, though. Jacks doing great thanks mate, won't be long now 🤞🏼
@C.H. FIELDSPORTS funnily enough, just watching a couple youtubes and she said, would you seriously move to the coast? Abso-fkin-lutely!!! I'll start packing 😂
Given the conditions mate, maybe could have gone with smaller, single hooks & bits of squid or prawn & just settled for a few Flatties, with couple or so worth taking home?? One has to do one's best with what's in front of one.
Runny is one of the best cod venues on the East Yorkshire coast but the conditions need to be right, like most places. You were unlucky getting flat calm gin clear sea.
9 hours without a fish no that's a dam good excuse to find a fish and chip shop buy the biggest piece of fish swimming in salt and vinegar lol. Better luck next time sir. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Take care sir

Sometimes I wonder why I stopped shore fishing, now I've watched this I remember.
🤣🤣 don't let my poor track record put you off mate
@theawfulangler Not at all, I'm in the process of getting back to it after a 25 year break. If you don't have bad days you can't have good days.😁
@DavidGillon-yy8th exactly that mate. It would be boring if you were constantly catching, that's what I tell myself anyways
Are you still getting wet in the imax suite. Only asking as someone recommended a top to me. Quite expensive but said you will not get wet in it so wanted to know if it’s worth spending the extra as opposed to a imax suite
Imax is cheap and warm, and there's where the positives stop 😅 mines in the bin now, just trying to figure what to get for this season 🤔
@@theawfulangler guy cotton schmok has been recommended to me. It’s 300 odd though but the material was probably the best material I’ve ever felt. He’s had it 7 years and looks like new he said he wears it loads. Was considering it but it’s costly so thought I’d ask your review on the imax
@IanEvans-j2m I wouldn't recommend the imax to anyone. I'm looking at the vass winter stuff, it's reasonably priced and popular
If you dont fish it you cant win it , you have a good chance to do well, Go on have a go., thanks for a good video.
Cheers John. Just waiting to hear on when my boy will be allowed home to be able to decide 🤞🏼
@@theawfulangler I hope you have good news soon
Thats, a bad day at, the office. But at least you were, out there trying. Still 100% Better than sat at home.
That's it Nigel 👍🏼
It's not the catching that is important, it's getting out and enjoying our sport. ( blanked last weekend magazine drive/Pensarn beech 🤷♂️😅😅) Great vlog 😀. Thanks for taking the time to share. Hope you and the crew are well mate 👍 tight line's 👍
That's it Greg 👍🏼
All good here mate thanks. Hope you and yours are too?
@The Awful Angler all good this end ta. Off Anglesey next week ( bass on the spinning gear 😅🤷♂️🤦♂️)
Plenty about from the reports I've seen mate, best of luck 🤞🏼
Still very slow in the Bristol Channel,at least on the welsh side Barry to porthcawl
I'm hoping the rays will start to move in mate. Still got my eyes on the double figure I didn't get last year!
Well done …nice insight into not catching …we’ve all been there …always next time
💩 happens mate, still good to be out in the fresh air though
Tough session that buddy but 100% effort 👍
Cheers John, we all have them
Can be a good place to fish, 🎣🎣but due to the masses of weed you can get on a big sea I would advise a stiffish rock rod.
If you want to see what I mean, watch fish hunter UK video. He fished there, I think it was 1year ago,in rough conditions. 🫣😲
Some nice holes on the rocks you were on, and lots of lads fish the blue yacht club on the beach.👍 I've tried the large blocks at the bottom of the bank twice. Nowt. Just sore ankles, they are sh*t to walk on, and if you drop owt it's gone for good.🥺
From what I've heard it's been pretty poor for cod between Hartlepool and Whitby area this cod season. 🥺Most blaming the crab, lobster etc die off, which they are still "investigating".🤔🤔
Good luck on your quest and all the very best to you, your wife, and especially your son.❤️
Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Cheers Ian! I've seen some good fish come out on social media sites this year. But at the same time, you never know how many 100's of blanks are happening either. Another month and should start to see the start of the spring run 🤞🏼
Yeah go for it mate...
Hopefully Jack be home soon and I'll get signed up
Good video.
Thanks David 👍🏼
Welcome to my neck of the woods, and my usual results. Always on a hiding to nothing on a sea like that. Yet, you can make a blank entertaining 👍
Cheers Dave! I was genuinely gutted when I saw that sea. Got me considering a kayak for the van roof as a just in case option haha
Keep smiling mate better luck next time
Thanks Tom, always next time 🤞🏼
What a pretty little bay to fish.
Stunning mate. Bigger sea on and could have been great!
@The Awful Angler sometimes it's just nice to be out and appreciate the scenary. Keep reading reports and seeing pictures of Rays coming out along the Felixstowe coast, but no codling.
I've been watching the Lincolnshire reports and haven't seen many cod there either. Seems the humber is swallowing most of them this year
at least you make blank worth watching hope you have a safe drive home want to see you on a paddle board with max and eric😂ps how jack doing
Haha, there won't be any footage of that Eric! Slim chance of me standing up on one. Might get the dogs on one, though.
Jacks doing great thanks mate, won't be long now 🤞🏼
Fair do’s you put some miles in to fish, it would be cheaper to move closer to the coast 😂, shame no fish , but good video anyway 👍👍🤠
I tell the Mrs that every time I go out mate 😂
@@theawfulangler 😂😂😂
@C.H. FIELDSPORTS funnily enough, just watching a couple youtubes and she said, would you seriously move to the coast?
Abso-fkin-lutely!!! I'll start packing 😂
@@theawfulangler good sea air for the baby, unless you go to Rhyl , 😂😂👍👍🤠
😂😂 at least in Rhyl I don't have too much about smelly nappies, will blend in nicely!
Welcome to my world, still a good video
The good days are coming mate 🙏
Given the conditions mate, maybe could have gone with smaller, single hooks & bits of squid or prawn & just settled for a few Flatties, with couple or so worth taking home?? One has to do one's best with what's in front of one.
Beautiful place - bit of a tip though - Runswick is pronounced without the W …. As in Runsick…
Thanks for the tip mate. Nothing like an English spelling to trip you up.
Positives..you didn't get wet and free lead
😀👍
Free lead, just need to turn that in to use able weights now.
Pfft! I've had dozens of sessions just like this. The last 8 have been exactly like it in fact.
The good ones are just around the corner...that's what I keep telling myself anyway
@@theawfulangler yeah, but it seems like i live in a world made entirely of corners.
Careful mate, that almost sounds like a globe. And we don't want to upset those that think it's flat
@@theawfulangler yes we do.
@@thetattooedangler 🤣🤣
Most of my trips are like this.
Oh dear Paul! Summers just around the corner mate. Least we can get a tan while we blank 😅
02:00 look like the tide had already turned.
Think the tide turned just as I got the second bait out
and we will miss the bite cus cam is not often on the rod tips
Don't worry mate, no bites to see on this trip haha
@@theawfulangler we can still hear u ,but i do like 2 see the rod tip
Can't say you didn't try mate. Should have done some target practice casting with the paddle boarders
I guess if I got chased off the beach by an angry boarder I could have blamed the blank on that at least 🤣
Your good enough to fish it
Cheers Andy
Runny is one of the best cod venues on the East Yorkshire coast but the conditions need to be right, like most places. You were unlucky getting flat calm gin clear sea.
9 hours without a fish no that's a dam good excuse to find a fish and chip shop buy the biggest piece of fish swimming in salt and vinegar lol. Better luck next time sir. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Take care sir
After a session like that, I can't look at fish, so has to be battered sausage for me 😅
@@theawfulangler hahaha crack on
I wouldn't bother with the competition. You will have more fun doing your own stuff (IMHO)
I often think that, but I'm becoming more and more antisocial 😅
I am got my ticket in the post last week. NOT cracking on you but i have booked a 6 birth at the venue and I'm on m tod so there's a spare bed if you want to chuck a little dollar and I'm digging my own worms so probably have spares of them I'm driving up from norfolk on the Friday not fishing the flatty bash. Anyways enjoy your films be well
Thanks, mate, that sounds spot on. Just waiting to see when the little'un is allowed home. That weekend was his due date but hopefully it not be that long now. I'll bring a spare lock for the door 😉🤣
LOL apparently the tubes not informing me as to reply to the comments i make so i will keep watching . I'm one of them marked men who has an opinion and would enjoy voicing it IF I'm aloud to LOL. See you soon
Always happy to hear other people's opinions mate. I'm one of those that believe opinions are based on experiences and no 2 peoples experiences are the same
Thanks for getting back I'm a very outspoken on political so there's been quite a lot to shout about I'm a BAD sheeple trees sand and water salt or fresh best place to be.
Go on dad 😂😂😂❤❤
Don't encourage him 😂
😅😅😅
Your doing better than me
Get yourself out there Ned
Hiya , I found the UA-cam vlog I talked about relating to chat to cam mic's. Its Mark Kerton _ Woodland Photography - Testing the new Synco G2 A1 Wireless Microphone . Might be worth a look for you .
Cheers pal ill take a look. I think I know where I stuffed up on a couple outings 🤣 but always good to get some tips from others
I think the ratio is 1:20, good session: poor session 😢
I must be due a good one soon then haha
all ok for sound hear
I did a voice over mate, the clips from the big camera definitely had no sound 🤦🏻♂️
dont waste your time coming down to the bristol channel, all the cod have gone north.
I wanted a double figure ray last year...I've still got that score to settle. I think the channel is the one to do it for me 🤞🏼
We all have had them😢
Part of the game, Pat 🥴
Get yourself to the big comp march you need 1 fish sat 1 fish sun both size who knows anyone can do it
Yeah that's it mate! Fished the Daiwa late last year. Fished the day before and caught a cod that would have won it. But blanked when it counted 😅
Your fishing in North Yorkshire not East Yorkshire mate…
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Yorkshire boy!
Derbyshire lad thanks 😉
@@theawfulangler same same👍
Just watched it again even more enjoyable 😅 flat as a witches tit 😂I say that myself 😅 Hope the lil man Jack is ok 🙏🏻 ps fished that Big match a couple of times real bummer like this years and ever caught flatfish whiting and a rockling small codling’s nothing worth weighing in 🤦🏻♂️🎣🐟🐟🐟
Thanks for watching David!
I had a cracking session on day 2 but missed the weigh-in which was gutting at the time, but looking back really enjoyable day out
Well it works for me
Cheers Cliff, I recorded some sound over the top. Definitely pressed the mute button on the mics 😅
Please fish the comp. Make a great film.
Will all depend on when Jack's allowed home. But watch this space
You’ve done well going for the Shakespeare tripod, like you say it is heavy, but the Ian Golds are totally overrated and badly designed. I realise this will be a controversial statement, but if you get the chance give one a try and you’ll see what I mean.
Terrible for weed sometimes there
A few have said the same!
R the fish running out , gettin less & less !?
Must be those trawlers Kev 😅
I fished that exact spot 15 years ago in the exact same conditions and with the exact same result! 😃
