Never apologize for needing to analyze a Tool song. The lyrics are written in a way that encourages introspection.
Besides, this is your journey. Us Tool fans are just here to watch you take the steps. Hearing Tool through fresh ears is a gift we have to enjoy Vicariously. ;)
Crazy how relevant this song is even tho it's 14 years old.. but then again it is tool🤟my favorite band since 1994
I think it's still relevant because it's about an aspect of human nature. That doesn't change very quickly, so it'll probably be relevant for millennia to come.
Me too.
I the idea of the song could have been relevant at any time in our history. It shows no signs of ever changing. Can we change it? Do we want to?
1991 Opiate
It's like... Maynard knows all. 👀
I've watched dozens of reactions to tool. Don't ever apologize for reacting. You are actually really good at it because you go deep. Tool fans crave intelligence. You sir have it.
The art is by a guy called Alex Grey. He's done the art for the last 3 albums, each one having a little something extra special. Lateralus had an insert that has the art covering separate layers of acetate, so each page took a layer off the art. 10,000 Days (which has this song on it) has a set of spectroscopic glasses built into the cover, which allows you to look at the art in 3D. Fear Inoculum has a built in screen and speakers, with a custom video and music preloaded on.
Tool are just E X T R A.
I would suggest Right In Two for your next reaction, it seems like it’s right up your alley to analyze, even though it’s one of the few Tool songs where the meaning is obvious. The Pot would also be a good one although it’s open to more interpretation. I would hold off on tracks like Jambi, The Grudge & Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned for a bit until you’re more used to their style…there’s a lot going on in those songs it can be hard to follow it all. 🤟
You're wise beyond your years, keep the Tool reax coming! I am already a witness to your spirit's growth. 🤙🏽🍻
Thank you so much for the love
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
My opinion is Eulogy has the best buildup if I had to choose! I think most of the Army will 💯 agree
glad to see another reaction vid from you! and to tool also!
Guess there is not much left to say than......take a look at all their work.....it's a long ride.....but so damn satisfying!!!
"much better you than I" - so simple but one of the most brilliant lyrics ever written in my opinion
Welcome to the experience! We are all individuals and experience music within the context of our own lives and perspectives. It's so much fun to watch you go through this and enjoy something that many of us love.
Thanks a ton :)
Tool songs were meant to be picked apart man! Love when you break them down 🔥🔥
I appreciate you so much Shi, even if I'm late in this comment :3
I just found your videos reacting to tool and I’m very excited. I love your reactions. I love how your brain thinks around it and that you share that is dope. I see it’s been a while, I hope you’re still listening. Thank you for doing this. I subscribed just in case you decide to do more tool or other music that I think is awesome and deep and dope. Be well.
Thanks for saying "sensationalism". The only way mainstream media can exist.
Exactly, MSM putting in work on our minds
To add to the excellence, on the album this song comes just before a couple oftracks where Maynard bares his soul and gets personal as opposed to his usually universal writing (Jambi and Wings PT 1&2). It's like he's excusing us for the voyeurism to follow, very clever and self aware. I support your idea of doing a full album because structural ideas like this are common.
You get it, man. Keep going down the spiral. Enjoy the journey!
Don't EVER apologize for stopping 😆 Most of us are here to listen to your thoughts. We've been trying to talk to people about this band for up to 20-30 years and so, here we are.
Tool songs take you on a journey for all of us who are drawn. Nice reaction!
Those voices under the bells section, arr news readers, done by the same voice actor as Dr Lawson from the later song on the same album, "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)", the intro to "Rosetta Stoned".
Vicarious was pretty much my only TOOL song for years as I played the song on Guitar Hero 3 (I think it was, so long ago). I've always loved the song and that last chorus sucked me in like a vortex first listen. I'd never really dived further into TOOL until just recently as I got distracted with "everything else". It was a Vicarious reaction from another channel that kind of convinced me to explore more as I've been on a TOOL reaction hook lately. It's been a little over a week now and TOOL's pretty much dominated my listening at this point, it's so addicting.
Currently I've only really gone into 13 TOOL songs so far as I feel TOOL is something to take long, slow steps with and savor each piece they've brought to the world. My own TOOL journey is far from over and I look forward to new experiences of their songs not yet heard by me. TOOL is definitely a journey I'm glad to tread and each step gets better!
Do the whole Lateralus album. It is the greatest album ever made. Hands down.
yes please do this album
Tried to sub, but I'm already subscribed. More tool please.
You got it fam
Every song from this band makes you think. Lol. And their relevance is transcendent.
This is so true they are too deep
You’re clearly very intelligent, understanding that breakdown of lyrics doesn’t have to be perfect but most people don’t even make an attempt. Props, subbed!
The grudge is another great song on this album. Tool hasn’t released many albums, mainly due to legal battles, however, it seems to me each album is a book, and each track is a chapter in that book. So every album is gonna be different central message. So it’s hard to choose one album or song because they seem to be all intertwined with in itself. You will have to just do a Too-a-thon. Starting from Opiate all the way to fear inoculum
Dude I know you the fam cause you bumping tool and quoting UFC. This channel is fire af.
I appreciate you so much family!! Haha two of my favorite things now!!
5:31 - I thought you were gonna break into Hey Ya - Outkast..
Great vid dude, loving the reacts!
Thanks so much haha
“Credulous at best, your desire to believe in… angels in the hearts of men. Pull your head on out your ass, please and give a listen, shouldn’t have to say it all again. The universe is hostile, so impersonal, devour to survive, so it is, so it’s always been”.
My favorite.
Keep rocking, bro!
Spot on reaction. I’m here for it
Thanks so much for the love
Check out Undertow, It's my favorite album. It was my first album I heard. You always remember your first. If you like build ups check out Flood on that album it is a 4 min build up till the lyrics start that you will get lost in and will give you chills.
its all more than glorious so relavent thank u
Everything you listen to Tool your mind goes on a journey
Tool The Pot!
I like this reaction mate. Well done from Australia. Best of luck in your channel.
you're a brilliant mind young fella. i'm 3 in an i support u
Also, "We won't give pause until the blood is flowing". We stop and notice when tragedy hits others (they are bleeding) which makes our own blood pump faster.
Although he wouldn't show it or say it.. Maynard would be damn proud of you man. You get it. It's a beautiful thing to watch you experience TOOL. Spiral out... keep going!
My favorite for sure! Never will there be any band like TOOL!!!
If you can find the album cover have a look. The 3d artwork is amazing. It even has a built-in 3d glasses to see it.
It's because we never feel the realization of how alive we truly are as keenly as when we see someone else losing theirs.
A song with a kinda similar message to this song is "the vengeful one" by disturbed
great reaction ♥️ I never listened to this music but 🤷🏻♀️😆and can you react to Lucidious - equals 🔥
I always think about sensiationalism in terms of colosseum fights. People were literally going to see violence as a show back in the days.
Also when the "universe is hostile..." part is coming up, I always thought about certain objects in the universe, which have to "die" in order for other objects to be created. Because without stars exploding in a supernova, there would not be as many elements on the periodic table as there are. Including some, that make up the human body.
Absolutely loved this review.
Hey thank you so much Josh👊🏾
Now check out the official music video. Their first full CGI video, and not done by mocap nor using templates.
Adam asked the team at Hydraulx to design everything from scratch and throw out the usual time markers bar just a couple.
There's also a 40-minute documentary on it.
Great video please do more ! Also hey brother congratulations on the marriage hope it was a great honeymoon!
Thank you so much for this comment!!
Great reaction
Do Fear Innoculm the whole album. Get a bunch of shrooms and go out to the wilderness and listen. Its totally life changing.
It was such an amazing time reacting to this song
5 dried grams ...weigh the dose!
Fungus for the win!
A+ reaction!
Thanks so much
@@kkichgo you're welcome.
You said it, what I thought when I first heard it years ago, "I'm glad it's not me...", makes us feel better about the smaller bad things that happen to us in our own lives. "I lost my job, but at least I'm alive...".
So dope
We like to blame the media for our own interest in the stories that are tragic and hold a sense of violence. They only show us what we want to tune in to. "The Universe is hostile so impersonal. Devour to survive, so it is so it's always been."
_Check out Right In Two from this album, perfect example of human behavior._ First Tool full album listen must be Lateralus, no question!! It's our generations Dark Side of the Moon. The entire album needs to be listened to as a whole then you can pick and choose your songs......Oh, and DEF have lyrics available as I'm sure you will. Enjoy!!
Continuing on this theme and in this album...give Right in Two a listen.
swing on that spiral sir!! swing.....subscribed
I would love to see you react to some of upchurchs rap like rap demon or red coat. Love your reactions
Congratulations
Dont stop bro, vampire rattle must be heard
PLEASE REACT TO PNEUMA! It’s a live video of the drummer, Danny Carey aka, the GOAT!!!!
songs like this seem to highlight how much we are all alike no matter race, age, gender. humankind. seems like mediawants to divide us these days and in reality we are all alike.
Nailed it!
It's not crazy that this song can be sung in any year any moment or whatever in history because the fact that humans have always been intrigued by what's going on around them especially death.
You should blaze through the whole first EP (Opiate) it's only 27 something minutes total for six songs and it's proto-tool, all raw and dirty.
1:41 quite possibly the worst time to pause this song hahaha :) whew, you started over :) lucky you.
Wanna hear my story? Tool - Rosetta Stoned.
I love your Tool reactions and hope there will be more. Sadly, the music audio quality is a bit shitty on this one. Anyway, love to see you love Tool. :)
Read flower of life volume 1 and 2 it will explain all lyrics for the first 5 albums!!! This will blow your mind!!!!!!
tool army incoming. Beware, they are like stans but worse. Hahaha thanks for the content.
💚
May have been mentioned before but If you focus on 10,000 Days just research about Maynards Mom and all the songs he wrote about her prior to this album and listen to them first.
Also off this album you have to check out together lost keys/rosetta stoned. It's the dick almighty of Tool songs. Make sure you have the lyrics pulled up too. You are becoming one of my favorite tool reactors so I'll be waiting.
If you do an album make it either aenima or lateralus … aenima is darker and heavier , and lateralus is more psychedelic
Right in two
Sorry. I've been remiss. Congrats on over 10k! #hangovergang #hog4L
Thanks so much
Dude, I think you'd really love Right In Two and The Pot. both from this same album. If you are interested in listening to whole albums you will really see the evolution of the band and of Maynard (lead singer) if you start from the beginning with Opiate, then Undertow, Ænema, Lateralus, 10,000 Days and Fear Inoculum you'll see how they evolve. The first 2 albums are angry and hard. The next 2 are more of an evolution from anger into spirituality. The last 2 are an acceptance of the duality of man and making peace with the world. At least that's how I perceive them but listening to the whole album will make you see the theme behind it all. They're almost like concept albums...but not.
You gotta check out ÆNEMA
Dichotomy at its best
Please do the Tool album "Lateralus" (top 3 albums of all time for me)
tool want us too to listen and know whats going on... this is why today theyve gone too spotify.. they want the {world to know}
Tool-The Pot
Please do the Tool cover of Led Zepplins "No Quarter", better than the original
Man you should start from the beginning and listen to the experience on your time. Just enjoy the ride
If you want something that's relevant years later, check out Rage Against the Machine. 🤘🤘🤘
I hope to follow this Tool journey with you for a long, long time but I'd love to watch you journey thru Rage too.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey thanks for the suggestion, I'll be on that asap!
Know your enemy is both kinda 😂
And might as well toss Alice in Chains in as the 3 toured together at the 93 lolapalozza and many more after til Rage split and Layne passed
@@kkichgo Yeah Maynard James Keenan does the big scream in the middle along with like 4 bars
In my opinion the earlier Tool albums are their best, as they are arranged in a more classical rock arrangement. The newer stuff is kinda experimental and a little too repetitive for me.
But Tool is the $h¡t 👍
Do you love build out but what happened to the beginning
TOOL IS FOREVER
Very same album.. Check wigs for marie 1 and 2. REad a bit about his mother and prepare yourself for an experience..
Actually, to be honest, this song, is probably the shallowest, the most obvious, song Maynard ever wrote for Tool. It's totally straight forward. The analysis is very simple. No hidden meanings. Nothing to solve. Just the ugly truth. The song totally kicks ass!
The more you listen to this song, the more you will like it, and that will never stop. It will always grow on you. Always.
Great song! Great reaction!!
Thanks so much
The songs a ten but the video is nightmare fuel
Try Pneuma!
One of my favorite Tool songs! And here's the lyric video I made for it: odysee.com/@LyricalOdyssey:b/Tool-Vicarious:f
