Recently I was at a gun retailer. I asked to see a pistol. The associate handed me the gun without ejecting the magazine or pulling back the slide. I told them respectfully "It's not that I don't trust you but I like checking for myself to see if a firearm is unloaded". I did just that and they apologized and thanked me for reminding them
That's a great video of one knowledgeable person handing off to another knowledgeable person. Maybe a better video would be of someone off the street coming in and see what they do. If they have never owned a firearm before they probably don't know what a bullet in the chamber looks like or to avoid putting their finger on the trigger. And really is there any safe way to point a gun besides straight up or down while inspecting it? There is always someone to the left or right shopping at the counter.
I've bought several firearms in the past and this has always been the way firearms have been handed to me. Visited a new shop today where the owner simply put the gun box on the counter and opened it slid it to me, without physically checking the gun itself. Then proceeded to yell at me for flagging him while picking up the firearm to ensure it was clear myself. I don't get how a gunstore can hand customers a firearm without verifying the weapon is clear and safe on their end. Video should be standard viewing for all ffl employees.
I have been swept by more guys behind the counter, usually at the big box sporting goods stores where they hire those who are less experienced with firearms.
Because shit can happen when people dont double/triple check. God forbid it will never happen, but there can be instances where things go wrong. Happens too many times
Also if you absolutely no intention of buying please don't waste the salesman's time wanting to see several guns than pull the, "I would, but my wife would kill me".

I have never in 40 years seen a loaded gun in a gun store display case…..
Because of this practice.
Every gun is loaded.
Have you seen the morons online waving guns around and having negligent discharges? It's best to just show you know what you're doing.
@@TheOutsider69nah, ASSUME every gun you see is loaded
@@TennisWall Thats what he meant

As he points the gun towards the other side of the room instead of down
great video - sometimes the basics need to be reinforced!!
Why do you check and double check even if there are no bullets/ammo in a 12 mile zone?
