My father who died at the age of 94 said that he could live 3 lifetimes and never see all of Scotland. As someone who lives and travels all over Scotland for a living, I can tell you that you may be able to see most of the tourist hot spots that you may have heard of but that is only a tiny fraction of Scotland, which is on the main routes. Most of the most beautiful, secret and special places in Scotland, are not on those well known routes.
So true Kirsten.
That’s applicable to almost every country though
I am planning to go to Scotland this summer, do you have any locations that are indeed not very well known? Would love to see those
Aye unfortunately if u wanna find the gems u gotta tear yurr breichs aff n jump in !!
Makes me wanna go hiking there now.
As a Scot, I love everywhere in your video, but so many people miss so many gems. Next time you're here, you need to visit Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, Argyll, the Oban area and Mull (try to visit Iona and Staffa while you're there, they're both magical). All these places are comfortably doable within a week, starting and finishing from Glasgow, which is a totally underrated city! I'm hoping to do the North Coast 500 up to the top of Scotland later this month, but all the places I've just mentioned are my favourites and these days are more off the beaten path.
I have questions about Scotland and i need advice planning my trip. Can i have your instagram, if its not much inconvenience?
Wanted to ask the same!! Can we connect over Instagram?
My advice for tourist's - KEEP AWAY FROM GLASGOW.
I wudd do a giant triangle to see the city's the west coast then on up to the Highland's right up Scotland's volcanic back A82,A83
Fantastic video. I live in Scotland, and it’s a brilliant place. If you have longer to visit, try and see Dumfries and Galloway, and the Scottish Borders, two beautiful places that don’t always make the typical tourist hitlist, but absolutely worth it. In the highlands, Oban and glenfinnan are also a couple of personal favourites
I lived in Dunoon when I was in the USNavy. I will be returning in July 2022 and will be going to Skye and Lewis. And of course Dunoon and some places I’ve not seen. I left a piece of myself in Scotland, looking forward to returning.
what’s the difference between irish and scottish ?
@@moulterie us Scots are better looking 😉
I live in Dumfries and Galloway.
I was born on An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/ the Isle of Skye, I've seen most if not all of the UK. I've travelled half my life around the world, but I've never seen a more beautiful magical and diverse country than Alba/Scotland. I'm retired now and glad to be back home in the land that calls you back, and the home you never forget.
Alba gu Brath,
Wow, this video is packed with so much valuable information and I can clearly see how much work you have put into this. Thanks so much!! I will definitely save this to my travel playlist.

finally somebody that tells me how to do the route..thanks
Scotland is truly beautiful. Did a road trip around the UK last November, spent 4 days in Scotland and can't wait to go back. Can actually get into my car here in Ireland in the morning and be in Scotland in a few hours!
I love Scotland and I have been wanting to go there for quite a long time now.
Watching from the UK (England), family’s been to Scotland twice. First time, we visited Edinburgh, Stirling, William Wallace Monument, a bit of Loch Lomond and Glasgow. Second time, Glasgow, a different part of Loch Lomond on the way to Glencoe and Loch Ness. Both were on day tours but we plan to come back someday but on a road trip. Great country, great vid Ate H!
Definitely on my bucket list 🙋♀️❤
Top of my bucket list 🏴
So helpful starting to plan a trip!

Classic route giving you a taster of Scotland. Well done for doing the Hidden Valley, most never take the tome to venture there.
This is a great video. Good job!
Would also highly recommend Orkney and Shetland! They have an amazing history and some of the best neolithic structures in Europe.
Very interesting video!
Thanks to the author.

Great video. Lovely to see a young person explore our country properly.
If you come back back, try the 500 👍
Glad you enjoyed your trip. A lot to pack in on the days you were here. I wouldn't discount Scotland's biggest city Glasgow. While it may not have the tourist wow factor of Edinburgh has a lot history, great pub culture, restaurants and nightlife.
Next trip to Scotland i am definitely visiting Glasgow!
yess
Glasgow is not scotlands biggest city, its edinburgh
@@gibby7233 Edinburgh is the capital city.
Hey hun hope you are well. Love Scotland, well because im half Scottish too lol. Your so right so much to see and do. Thanks again for sharing your experience with us really appreciate it. Stay safe and catch up again when we get back from Bulgaria in a few weeks time.
Thank you and nice to meet you!
I love Scotland! The Highlands’ breathtaking ! We did a road trip to Scotland 6 years ago and we visited almost every Castles there including the Queens Balmoral Castle. We also started our road trip in Edinburgh. I love Edinburgh too.
Is it expensive to road-trip around Scotland? And how many days did ur trip take?
Im from Glasgow and i have barely seen scotland. Once rhe restrictions were lifted a bit earlier in the year i saw arran for the first time and was amazed
Love your channel Haley. Just found you. Wanted to visit Scotland thru travel vloggers today. Great job. I've been to Scotland 7 or 8 times now. Lost count. My heritage. I was last there in June of 2019. Had my entire trip planned for June 2020 but alas had to cancel. I am a photographer and artist and find Scotland incredibly beautiful and inspirational. It is not only the unrivaled, gorgeous landscapes, forests, nature, critters and the little villages everywhere but IT IS THE PEOPLE. They are amazingly kind, friendly and gracious - not to mention funny. This culture KNOWS its history and who they are as a people. Highly recommend.
Great to have you here, Christie! Loved your words here too about Scotland. Here's to hoping we can return soon!
well made video , helps a lot
i’ve been to Edinburgh last year it was beautiful gothic with historical churches :) hope to visit again nextyear.
Worlds best commentary
Added to my bucket list. Thanks Haley 🇵🇭
yay!
Amazing my dear sweeti
Enjoy your self
God bless you! Amen
😍
Wow amazing place 😍
Scotland is beautiful!! Stayed in Stirling at the best bed & breakfast near the castle! Got to travel around and see so much! Hopefully after the pandemic, I can go back and visit all the friends I made while I was there! Great video Ate Haley!
Hi Dee Cruz , it makes me happy when foreign people enjoy my beautiful country, I live in Stirling and I think most scottish people don't appreciate it's beauty and take it for granted
Great video. I'm Scottish, but I moved to England about 17 years ago. Didn't do too much travelling around Scotland when I lived there. I lived in Glasgow, so didn't drive, just cycled everywhere, so the most I saw really was Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, with the occasional trip up to the Cairngorms. I have gone on quite a few European camping road trips now (last trip was France - Belgium - Luxembourg - Germany - Austria - Italy - Slovenia _ Croatia and back again via Italy - Switzerland and France).
Due to Covid and added Brexit, we decided to do a modified NC500 last year, with added Orkney and Skye. Epic trip, at one point, whilst driving through Sutherland, I found myself almost in tears, there was just so much bueaty around us. Stand outs for me were Skara Brae on Orkney, Sheigra and Sandwood Bay, Handa Island, Althandu, Quiraing and stopping off at Loch Fyne Oysters on the way to Glasgow and eating ALL of the oysters. In the end it wasn't so much a 500 mile road trip, but a 2000 mile one.
Going on our next road trip in just over two weeks time, Croatia again, but no idea yet on the route, only place I want to visit with any certainty is Rothenburg and maybe Lauterbrunnen on the return leg.
Not sure why I’m watching this - i been living in Scotland for 4 years now but there is still so many places here i want to see! Scotland is an amazing place for people who love adventures and are interested in art/history. I go sea kayaking, hiking, backpacking, wild camping, rock climbing etc. This place is like a gigantic wild playground for adults as long as you get used to the rain haha. Cheers from Edinburgh- my amazing adopted city :)
Looks like it's time for you to get out there and enjoy the places that everyone else is dying to see!
We have a road trip planned there for October! (Hopefully) We are following almost that exact same path except we are going to Isle of Lewis and Harris also. We can't wait!
Wow nice country enjoy pretty keep and safe always God bless
I will never forget Scotland:
Nasiraan kami ng sasakyan sa highway
(Our car broke down along the highway)
Beside the sheep field ,beside a castle near the beach)
We called insurance to pick up the car ( they towed us 12 midnight)
The best adventure ever!!!!
After covid, babalik ako sa Scotland.
😁😁
Love that you get most of the names right, shame you never mentioned fort William as it comes up twice in your video 😊 but a great video one of my new fav's 👍👍👍
Awesome Haley. There's so much more to see though. Base yourself in Glasgow. (A city built by glaciers) explore Argyle. and the famous Mull of Kintyre.
🤩🤩🤩 want to visit again soon scotland
I've been! would totally go back. That place is magical! I heard Glasgow is more hipster, yet still midevil and amazing! Probably next on my list!
Glasgow is very built up and industrial. Travelling outside of Glasgow you will find a lot more history.
@@ssolomon1981 no
Glasgow has plenty of history and good sights but it was also an industrial town and in my opinion Edinburgh is more interesting if you want a city experience in Scotland. The route in the video is really good and takes in a lot of different Scottish landscapes.
Amazing video 😍stay Blessed ❤Love from Oman ❤❤
And you mention a video of everywhere you stayed in Scotland, but I don't find it below in your comments. I LOVE your video! Would love to have the other information you mention.
I lived in Scotland but Pinoy. Scotland has the best weather in the world.. . 4 seasons in one day AMAZING isn't it.
LOL!
I love visiting the Highlands & Islands almost every year. Lucky I live in Edinburgh. 🏴❤️🏴
Are u Scottish?
Scottish lad here, good job on the video. You could do another one taking the train places also next time you're here. x
Looking good Haley
I'm from Scotland but I live in Japan. BUT! Scotland is on my bucket list :)
Beautiful
I've been to Edinburgh, Inverness, Loch Ness and Urqart Castle. Ben Nevis at Fort Williams is no easy hike, but you should try, how far you can go. A whisky-tour in the Spey Area in one of the hundreds destilleries is a must. And you should look out for highland games usually on weekends in the summer. It's alqays worth it.
If you want to visit two or more castles look out for a membership in the national trust for one year, to save money.
hey haley... glad to see you travelling.. welcome to UK... if you love Game of Thrones, come here in Belfast Northern Ireland...its 1hr.plane from scotland going here... keep safe
I was born in Glasgow and moved to the States when I was five. Now I'm 18 and just graduated high school, and I'm hoping to go back over either this summer or the next for my first solo trip experience. I'm so bummed that I can't rent a car myself and tour my favourite remote parts of the Highlands that I grew up with. But taking your time through the Highlands and finding remote BnBs all over is something I can't recommend enough. Also, last time I was down in the Lowlands, my family and I visited Hadrian's Wall, right along the Scotland-England border. There was a little festival that we stumbled across there before we headed up to Glasgow, then Edinburgh, and then wound our way up through the Highlands to my grandparent's home near Dornoch Firth. Visit Scotland, everyone. I can't recommend it enough.
Omg I can’t believe you came to Scotland and didn’t come to Glasgow! If your ever back you gotta check us out there is no city like it in the world I promise you!
rory kavanagh just curious- what’s so special about Glasgow ? I lived there for a year and to be honest I would personally skip it as well...
Seriously?! Whereabouts did you stay? It’s an amazingly diverse city with so many different ethnicities and cultures living together. We welcome anyone willing to get stuck in and make something of themselves the city is full of prous “refuweegees” lol. A bunch of free museums and galleries with world renowned pieces but really with the amazing architecture and it’s diversity is art in itself. So many green places! We’re called the dear wee place for a reason. On a good day (which granted we get rarely) a walk through any of the parks or even the city centre is an adventure in itself. Then we have the different areas and their different vibe. Park circus, dennistoun, shawlands, merchant city and the oh so cool finnieston strip. World renowned shopping (best U.K. shopping outside of London don’t ya know). And last but not least there’s the people! There’s no place like Glasgow and there’s no better folk than a weegie! The city slogan is people make Glasgow! Just my opinion and I’m biased as I come from here but I have lived all over the world and seen a lot of places and still love this city more than anywhere.
@@ysabellpp Glasgow is utter gorgeous, west end area with its Victorian tenements, cafes, bars, restaurants, etc and leafy and suburban environment with lots of nice walks. Beautiful city.
To me its more shameful that she didnt visit the highlands
Worked in Dublin, IE and Edinburgh but I was only able to explore just the city itself. Long hours at work prevented me. Now that I'm retired I wish to go again and explore.
I'm in Scotland, right now its really quite. I has to go into the centre of Edinburgh for a clinic appointment. From the bus stop to tye clinic was about a miles walk. I passed one person. Nothing was open. It just rather sad. However, from this Monday things are to start limited openings. Hopefully the year will get better.
Give the south of the country a visit. the famous abbeys at Kelso and Jedburgh, the BorderRiding festivalsin the summer at Langholm on the last Friday of July or Selkirk in June. Great Castles like Floors and Drumlanrig and the absolute middle of nowhere on the top of the Cheviots and enter the country via the Carter Bar or on the A7 south of Langholm.
I love UK...drove around there 2 years ago!
I wish I could do that!
Scotland is very beautiful.
Amazing! ❤️ any tips on how to manage your budget for Scotland trip?
I am married with a Scottish man , I am Dominican and we live in Canada. Scotland is amazing and very good people.
