I love watching people appreciate My Scotland, the country of my birth. I will be returning In August after 42 years and I just can't wait. Crystal, when your health improves you have got to get back to Scotland. Brian, just remember, in Scotland to-days rain is tomorrows Whisky. Beast Wishes to you both.
This was the BEST Scotland travel video I’ve seen. I’m planning a trip for the fall and only have 7-10 days. Thanks for including the lodging recommendations.
Just a reminder that the drink drive limit in Scotland is zero, you can’t have any alcohol and drive your car. The distilleries will give you a drivers travel pack so you can take your tasters with you and enjoy them later. Great video
Sorry but you are incorrect about the drink drive limit it isn’t zero it’s 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood compared to Englands 80 milligrammes although i understand where you’re coming from
@@HibeeMcbeeTechnically you are completely correct it is 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. As a visitor to Scotland you are unlikely to have a breathalyser and less likely that is set to the Scottish setting which is stricter than the rest of the UK. Additionally the level of alcohol permitted is so low in Scotland that most responsible drivers just don’t drink and drive. For visitors it would be easier and safer to assume that you can’t drink and drive.
@@bhobbybhoy6244 Technically you are completely correct it is 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. For visitors it would be easier and safer to assume that you can’t drink and drive as the legal levels are so low and visitors won’t necessarily have an easy way to measure them.
I am glad that you enjoyed our dear country. I was born and raised here in Glasgow, I'm a photographer, whilst I have never been to places like Ullapool or the Isle of Skye, I know the scenery up north for sure is quite spectacular. No worries about that view you got though with the low cloud and rainy weather, if anything, it makes it dramatic. An Ancient Greek philosopher scoured the West coast shores and labeled Scotland 'Skotos,' meaning 'The Land of Darkness,' even the Vikings who feared and respected the mainland found in their sagas in Iceland described the country as dark and gloomy with the weather. This gives you a sense of the meaning that although thousands of years have passed, you lived the experience they once had. I must say, tourists tend to flock to those places, and I noticed you missed out two of Scotland's key iconic heavily touristy destinations in Stirling which is the Castle and Wallace Monument, but what a lot of tourists miss out is the East of that there is Castle Campbell. Whilst I am not sure Castle Campbell is open currently, it takes you way up into the hills and the viewpoint of the castle and overlooking the land is truly spectacular. Stirling is also home to Bannockburn; the famous battlefield where Scotland won it's independence. Add to that, one must not forget to add in the fact that currently there is a project to build for the first time in over 2,000 years, a Pictish Broch settlement, they're planning on doing this in Caithness with the original building technique, so whenver they achieve that, that is definitely something tourists would wish to see. There's even dear Rabbie Burns stuff to the southerly part of Scotland; his cottage to the West, as well as Ellisland farm where he spent most of his working life on the farm and Dumfries where his mausoleum is and house he sadly passed away at such a young age. There is a lot that tourists would probably miss out, i.e; Plodda Falls that I recently photographed, which is a 151 foot drop waterfall nearer Eilean Donan Castle, as well as a long 3 hour hike and 3 hours back, the Falls of Glomach. To the West of Glasgow, Largs, the famous location and last standing battleground where the Scots defeated the Norse Vikings, the museum there tells you all about that. Even the Orkney Isles has ancient Pictish remains and they hold a Viking festival there every year. Nonetheless, for what you guys experienced in the time you were here, you saw a lot and you certainly looked like you's enjoyed it, happy for you's and you's are certainly more than welcome here in Scotland.
Wow thanks for the added attractions you mentioned. Obviously Scotland has so much to offer and it’s impossible to see it all in 2 weeks. Thanks again, maybe someday we will return and visit some of those sites you mentioned!
STIRLING! Stirling is an absolute must. And historically so important! The National Wallace Monument, The Church of the Holy Rude (where infant king James was crowned), the Stirling Castle, the Smith Museum, our University (University of Stirling) which has a castle and a loch and some amazing art in the Pathfoot building (it was also an Outlander shooting location), the city space with its libraries, cafes, and amazing restaurants ❤
I'm so happy you loved my beautiful country, the history and mystic appeal of the countryside is like no other. I've been in a lot of countries, but there is something about Scotland, that MANY people feel from all around the world when they get here, you really can't explain it. There are many places that fill you with awe, as the splendour is jaw dropping, everywhere you go. Nature really did do a number on Scotland. . . Thank you and , ,Haste Ye Back.
It truly is a special country 🥰 b has traveled to more than 20 countries and Scotland is his favorite and mine too! Everyone is so kind and the land has a remarkable energy to it. May I ask - do you have any places you wish people would visit more than the usual tourist areas? Places that are underrated in Scotland?
@@vanhallaadventures The little fishing villages in fife are really nice. You could also maybe visit Aberdeen, or if you're adventurous you could go to orkney, shetland or even st kilda! There are lots of beaches in northern scotland that look like they're from the Caribbean, but it's just because the water is super clean. It's still very cold though :( You could visit st Andrews if you like golf, or maybe do a tour of haunted stuff here like old castles
I loved hearing the bagpipes when I was a child, but didn’t visit until 1993, when I first glimpsed Scotland through slightly grimy train carriage windows, en route to Inverness from London. Even then, I felt like I’d “come home”, a feeling enhanced the more I travelled around your beautiful country. I was able to return a further four times, the last in 2018, (pre-Covid, thank goodness!), but might have to rely on my memories and virtual travel from now on, as live in South Australia, so it’s a bit of a long and expensive trek to get there! My favourite trip is up the Cattle Pass, to Applecross, returning via Kinlochewe - absolutely stunning scenery!
I greatly appreciated the respect you showed to the fallen at Culloden. And thoroughly enjoyed your vlog. A long time ago I was UK MD of a company bought over by an American outfit based in Scranton. I have been away from UA-cam for a very long time. Last time, I watched you take a long hike in Spain’s famous hiking trail. Now I am back to UA-cam and see you travel to Scotland. It is just in time. I have Scotland in mind.
24:30 - coming in from torrential, ho horizontally pelting you cold rain and mist and then thinking “it was freezing and then it wasn’t freezing, but it was nice outside!” Is the most Scottish thing in the world. Especially as you guys noticed that the weather goes through all 4 seasons in one hour sometimes. Welcome to being one of us now ahah. (Though as others have already said, yeah, Edin-bruh 😅)
Thank you for this wonderful tour of Bonnie Scotland. Now that I am retired, I spend my winters with my daughter and granddaughter who live in Scotland. As a bonus, and despite the rain, it is so nice to get away from Quebec winters! A visit to Scotland is a must! 🏴

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a lovely trip. The little cottage in the highlands looked beautiful. We were in Scotland for 2 1/2 weeks last month and late April. The gorse was blooming all over the country very spectacular. We also got caught in the rain at the Fairy Pools which were a beautiful place. . It took 3 days for our shoes to dry out. We were lucky we had only 2 days of rain the entire trip. A little bit of rain on the Isle of May which was amazing and I would highly recommend. So much fun to see all the puffins and nesting birds on the cliffs. We managed to spot 78 species of birds in Scotland which was fun. And the Kelpies were great to see. It was our first time to see this beautiful country and we are looking forward to coming back. Enjoyed the lovely video. Greeting from Florida.

Just hearing those seagulls makes me homesick. I'm from Prestwick originally my family owned a hotel their called the TOWANS hotel. Unfortunately burned down a fee years ago. Scottish seagulls just sound different.

Och well I'm sure our pronunciation isn't perfect when we are travelling the world.🤔
You have only scratched the surface of what Scotland has to offer..Southern Scotland is just as enchanting as the Highlands and Islands without the touristy bits, an area for the conisour.
I indeed agree! We will be going back for more!
@@vanhallaadventures 👍👍🏴🏴👍👍, have been exploring BONNIE SCOTLAND FOR FORTY YEARS AND COUNTING, CANNAE GET ENOUGH
Wonderful stuff! Thanks guys

When I entered valley of Glencoe I got goosebumps and felt some sort of god actually seeing us.
Wonderful video!! I’m so looking forward to seeing Scotland, now even more after seeing your beautiful views.
Thank you! ❤️🙏🏻
Judith byerly If or when you visit BONNIE SCOTLAND, i would recommend you don't get sucked into trying to see 'everything' in one visit.. There really is so much to see, regardless of area you choose to explore.
Loved your video! You both need your own TV show on one of the major networks! Curious how much each of the cottages were to stay & can you give advice on how to book a similar trip please
Liked your feedback on my hometown Fort William, good assessment.
Beautiful! I love Scotland too and your trip took me back to some places I have fond memories of. Another great video, Crystal & Brian😊
Next time you need to visit Oban and the Isle of Mull!❤️

Lot of drink driving going on by the looks of it 🤔. Glad you loved my country though. Haste ye back
Not really. It’s a vlog so you don’t see everything (re: relaxing at the places we visit, etc) though appreciate the concern. Thanks for watching ✌🏻

Really enjoyed the video. I live in Drumnadrochit, just south of Inverness, on the shores of Loch Ness. Nice to see a visitors perspective!
Amazing…Thank you for taking us along!
Another beautiful video. Thank you both for sharing
Just hearing those seagulls makes me homesick. I'm from Prestwick originally my family owned a hotel their called the TOWANS hotel. Unfortunately burned down a fee years ago. Scottish seagulls just sound different.
Love the Video!!! Makes me want to visit Scotland again🥃
