Living Survival Ben let me just say Thanks. I finally found something that my father in-law will like for fathers day. I may increase the quantity to 2 and get myself one. Great review. Amazing product.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Dustin Franco thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I can't believe you're doing this unit. Just last night I saw a demo of this from TSG - this guy visited the Work Sharp Tools business and videoed his tour and guide for sharpening. It was great. Here's his video on this unit that I watched last night: ua-cam.com/video/QzFWRCQr3jc/v-deo.html I really like this unit and am going to get one. Looks like they're only available through the company or at Cabela's.
I just bought this devise and have not sharpen any knives. 1)-Why it is not recommended to use water to sharpen. 2)- can I use soap and water to clean the stones after each sharpening. I’m fairly new in sharpening the reason I ask. Thanks in advance for your response
What sort of life span are you looking at for the plates before you'd need to purchase replacements? Never actually used a work-sharp, so I have little knowledge of these.
Tenfold_Noobsauce lol I don't have a mora but I'm pretty sure he fucked up that edge. I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be a micro bevel on a scandi grind... it's guys like this that shouldn't be doing tutorials lol
tayb5oh4 yup haha they are either 0degree or like just a slight edge like a 5degree. Unless he rebelvelled it to 20degree. But yeah seems like he shouldnt be doing youtube 😂
How necessary is the upgrade kit if you can’t afford buying both together? Can you still sharpen ur knifes with just box kit? And purchase up grade at another time when money is more accessible?
What is the longest blade this would work on? I have some bubba blades ranging from 7" to 12 " to filet fish with. I am assuming to sharpen use the 17 degree angle.
This is a great tool to take out the field with you very nice very very nice matter fact it's incredibly nice design thank you for sharing this video you're really awesome
I've been looking at multiple reviews of this product. Of all reviews, written and taped, yours was the most helpful and answered all questions I had. Thank you.
when sharpening on stones all I ever seen is the way above. my flat mate who works with leather sharpened blade backwards on a stone then finished it off on a strop. the blade was really sharp. is there a big difference between the two ways of sharpening the blade for using them as a cutting tool for camping?
Joe Brooklyn i suppose it could work that way for some knives. typically you want to remove steel from the edge and going against the stone accomplishes this. a strop however you are basically super honing the edge and don't want to cut into your leather so you go backwards.
I know that this is intended for small--medium sized blades. How will it work for large blades? I have an Ontario Knives SP10 Marine Raider with a 10" blade--pretty hard carbon steel too. Anyways, I ordered one of these today--sure hope it works out.
Ben, just viewed your program for the first time. Excellent. You are well-spoken, don't hesitate in your presentation and keep everything simple without being redundant. I will definitely be looking for more of your videos. I just ordered the Workshop GSS and upgrade and have saved your video to help me use it. Your review was the only one I saw that: 1- demonstrated in simple steps how to use the sharpening system, 2- had excellent camera angles and focus, and 3- was all about the product, rather than yourself. I applaud you, and will be watching this review as I learn from you how to use my knew knife sharpening system.
Hi Ben, great review. Which sharpener would you prefer if most your knives were all approx. 5"-6"? This one or the Worksharp belt system. As a rank beginner, the belt system seems easier to use. What's your opinion? Thanks
whats up fellas i got a question for one of ya cause im not sure if one of ya is carring the habilis srt bush tool i know its 30 degrees but there is no 30sharpeners out there and it can be a pain since its my main carry knife and i do a lot of whittling and the bush tool helps so much but the sharpening is a pain any ideas on something i can use to help
Super Video, you sold me on this and I will be getting one. And I just want to say that is is so good to hear someone who knows about sharping knives!! Thanks!
Oh yeah, I need this. Using stones is for more patient people. I use one of those smith pull sharpeners and It kinda sucks. I'm ready for one of these.
***** the point of it was to show how easy it is out of the box. and easy it is no matter your skill level. not sure how else you show how to use a product than to just show it.
I like your reviews very much!Truth is that diamond plates, are made for sharpening ceramic knives. That's why it shows a lot of wear early , while sharpening common steel knives. After years of research and experimentation,I reached the conclusion that the PERFECT angle, for general use or outdoor use knives etc,is 21 degrees per side. My complaint with this and the work sharp field sharpener,is that the sharpening surfaces are small and short, especially the ceramic. It's ok for small knives, such us edc folders etc (maybe it can handle some medium size) but not bigger knives.Very good systems for beginners though!
Leaderilaos Chaqal Agreed, tough to use for a large knife. Packs a lot of punch though for a system of this size and considering the price of even one good water stone it is a pretty good deal. Does work better than expected as well.
I agree this isn't a much different than their field sharpener, which I love. But for a bench sharpener I want a landing or something that keeps the angle exact the whole time
I really don't see this as any kind of reliable guided system at all :-/ It still relies on you being able to manually keep the right angle across the stone. If you can do that, why bother? I'd buy a whet stone and "guide it" myself.
But isnt the achieved angle depending on the blade side angles in this system? Meaning a full flat grind knife will get a different edge angle than a saber grind... hmmm.
I'm watching this a little late but I'm checking this system out for a all in one knife sharpener in a bug out scenario to sharpen everything I have from machetes to hunting knives easily and quickly. Do you think this will cover it.
Going to try mine this weekend. Just got back from family camping.
PREPAREDMIND101 waiting your take on it.
The Worksharp Guided Sharpening System leaves your knives stupid sharp.
Living Survival Ben let me just say Thanks. I finally found something that my father in-law will like for fathers day. I may increase the quantity to 2 and get myself one. Great review. Amazing product.
Zinvchan They may only be available from Worksharp and Cabelas for now as they are new.
False you can get stupid sharp knives with either sharpening systems.
With the upgraded kit that costs $30 it'll get stupid sharp
I would like to see someone sharpen a serrated blade that is completely dull.
Excellent job demonstrating the new Worksharp Guided Sharpening System. I'm going to play with mine this weekend.
Survival On Purpose looking forward to your review.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account??

@Colten Braxton instablaster :)
@Dustin Franco thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Dustin Franco It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
Never seen this before. Interesting, though! Seems to have really good results.
Armed Rogue Easy right out of the box.

A good demonstration of this Worksharp System. You make this tool look easy to use and worth investing in. Thanks.
Teachering thank you for your comment and watching.
very detailed, excellent video w no condescending mega ego. refreshing and informative. I will recommend your channel
I would to like have seen a side view while sharpening. Good review, I have their sharpener with the belt on it.
How LONG do the sharpening plates LAST .. ?
Great video, Ben. Thanks for spotlighting this great tool. I expect to add it to my gear since I have a number of knives now.
Lellobeetle thanks for watching.
Great set up Ben , i have had the electric worksharp for about 5 yrs and it make a razor sharp edge , they make some great systems
atb john
the mi woodsman i'd prefer the electric too but for something small and somewhat portable that requires no power this setup is nice.
Simply fantastic sharpener!!!
Morakniv are 30 degree you sharpened it at 20 degree
very cool! really does look like a dummy could figure it out...LOL! I may get that w/upgrade too...thx 4 sharing, Lisa
livinright :)
This was a very good video with good detail.
TWO different angles is not something I would consider to be "different angles". Lansky has four.
Well it has 17, 20,22,25 degrees which are what you would realistically use
Will this system work with recurve blades ?
knifecom yes it does
Great work on video mate 👍👍👍
Great system! Thx for sharing this Ben, Cheers, Marc
Scouting Free thanks Marc.
Arg.. only 360p available. Its about time Google Starts to advance its services.
ziggy2070 Just takes time to process, it will be in 1080p/60.
What if I am dummer than a dummy? I can write code all day long but I still suck at sharpening anything other than a kitchen knife on a stone.
***** Super simple.
What sort of life span are you looking at for the plates before you'd need to purchase replacements? Never actually used a work-sharp, so I have little knowledge of these.
Jonathan Presly not sure honestly.
Diamonds don"t wear out.
cardguy0 yes they do
Can’t be specific but over 100 knives. They sell replacements
Did u just sharpen that at 20 degree, on a mora 0 degree scandi grind
Tenfold_Noobsauce lol I don't have a mora but I'm pretty sure he fucked up that edge. I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be a micro bevel on a scandi grind... it's guys like this that shouldn't be doing tutorials lol
tayb5oh4 yup haha they are either 0degree or like just a slight edge like a 5degree. Unless he rebelvelled it to 20degree. But yeah seems like he shouldnt be doing youtube 😂
Thats the way you do it!!!
Merkel123456 DAC ummm not on a scandi grind
God i cringe everytime someone comments on my comment, on this horrific slaughter of a mora 😂😂
Looks like a nice little unit. atb John
Turtle Bushcraft certainly for its size and price considering some stones are that price alone.
584 likes since 2015? WTF? This was an awesome video!
All right, I guess not that many people are sharpening knives. lol!
So basically...
before putting the polishing paste you put the gel on the leather. is it necessary? isn't this gel more suitable for cuts?
Great demo Ben. This is a really good system that is comprehensive but not complicated.
Feral Woodcraft Exactly.
Just checking but aren't Mora knives scandi grind which are about 13 degrees and not 20?
Mmmmmm....Moras have a 27 degree Scandia grind. Do you just ignore the angle guides?
This is a great tool to take out the field with you very nice very very nice matter fact it's incredibly nice design thank you for sharing this video you're really awesome
I've been looking at multiple reviews of this product. Of all reviews, written and taped, yours was the most helpful and answered all questions I had. Thank you.
When I first pulled up this video, there was some copious cursing at the fact that everything was so weird. It's a 60 fps video lol.
Need the basic or upgraded kit for sharp leatherman multitool wave charge surge
when sharpening on stones all I ever seen is the way above. my flat mate who works with leather sharpened blade backwards on a stone then finished it off on a strop. the blade was really sharp. is there a big difference between the two ways of sharpening the blade for using them as a cutting tool for camping?

Prepper in the Woods
you said there's a 22.5 degree angle with none of the guides on the platform???
I don’t think the angle guides work with a scandy grind
Vert nice review , very thorough I’m going to get me one! Thx Howie
What did that poor scandi grind ever do to you :( ?
Great Review!
Quickhatch Knives thanks brother.
Amazon link for the sharpener doesn't work
I know that this is intended for small--medium sized blades. How will it work for large blades? I have an Ontario Knives SP10 Marine Raider with a 10" blade--pretty hard carbon steel too. Anyways, I ordered one of these today--sure hope it works out.
+DiGiTaLdAzEDM you can take the middle section out to help with larger blades
Really cool guided sharping stone! Great for beginners like me!
Jason McDaniel Anyone can sharpen on this thing.
Ben, just viewed your program for the first time. Excellent. You are well-spoken, don't hesitate in your presentation and keep everything simple without being redundant. +wcody777 thanks for the comment. ones like this keep me going :) enjoy your holidays.
Hi Ben, great review. Which sharpener would you prefer if most your knives were all approx. 5"-6"? This one or the Worksharp belt system. As a rank beginner, the belt system seems easier to use. What's your opinion? Thanks
the belt system will kill your knives and I would only use that for larger knvies/axes. I use this one all the time.
Great Review!! Thank you.
whats up fellas i got a question for one of ya cause im not sure if one of ya is carring the habilis srt bush tool i know its 30 degrees but there is no 30sharpeners out there and it can be a pain since its my main carry knife and i do a lot of whittling and the bush tool helps so much but the sharpening is a pain any ideas on something i can use to help
Paul Henry you could just setup one of these guides with some extra padding or something to achieve the extra amount of angle you need.
Super Video, you sold me on this and I will be getting one. And I just want to say that is is so good to hear someone who knows about sharping knives!! Thanks!
thanks for checking it out.
Oh yeah, I need this. Using stones is for more patient people. I use one of those smith pull sharpeners and It kinda sucks. I'm ready for one of these.
NewHampshire Bound It really does work well and is easy.
Nice video. Just picked this up at Cabela's the other day. Time to get my old kitchen knives back into shape.
it will do the job. thanks for watching.
I need to get one of these. I have the Worksharp Guided Field Sharpener, but I can see this being even more useful.
JediJunkie247 it works well.
would be better if you dulled the knife first because Mora's come razor sharp out of the box.
+bill R not all of them. i've received some pretty dull moras actually.
Great video - THANX and have to ask what camera you are using for record this video.
+Jeffery Hall canon g7x
Great video and great picture quality. Nice camera you're using there!
Michael Carroll thank you, hopefully everyone watches in HD, makes a difference.
Good to see how simple it is.
Important for not messing up a fave or expensive knife.
PREPFORIT right, simple was the key.
I'd better get off my butt and post my review!
Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors haha :)
I have one of these. They say not to use water or oil. How do you clean the plates? Or is it better to use a stone?
I use a jumbo sized rubber eraser to clean my medium to small diamond sharpeners. Seems to lift metal particles off.
this seems more like a tutorial / commercial rather then an unbiased review.
***** the point of it was to show how easy it is out of the box. and easy it is no matter your skill level. not sure how else you show how to use a product than to just show it.
Nice Demo my friend I need all the help I can get lol
Nothing to it.
Ben, That was a Sharp Video, Well done....TY
ben terwellen thank you.
is this good for large blades 10" such as a esse Junglas??
Da Fp not the best, but it will work.
Man that's a slick set up. Thanks fro sharing Ben
Gary Lawson does the job for a small package.
Say Heah, can you Convex a knife on this system ? Thanx in advance.
paulie 4x you can put a secondary bevel on but it would be tough to do a convex edge. anything is possible.
Great review. Seems like a nice little kit. Thanks!
Frank DeLalla certainly a small package and it works well.
Great video. How were you able to match up the scandi grind factory angle with the Worksharp angle guides so you were not creating a micro bevel?
AaronBushcraft he didnt hahaha he fucked his Mora
For scandi grinds with this system don't use the guides. Remove them and use the blade as your guide the same as you would with a stone.

Leaderilaos Chaqal thanks for watching and the input, appreciate it.
You can sharpen a large knife in two parts, just like a sword
sweet
Nice review. Thanks for that.
+Daniel Moskovkin thanks for watching and the comment Daniel.
Living Survival made in the usa??
matthew feldman assembled in us but parts no.
I always wanted one of these so bad
matthew feldman this one is brand new on the market but their other products are good too.
interesting design
Deep South Experience works pretty dang good.
Still like / use this?
Any issues?
+BOOSTEDLASER still use it, no issues. great item.
Excellent excellent video
Howard Manley thank you.
How much does it cost
Suburban Survivalist there is a link in the description for current pricing. it's new so it may have changed.
Thanks for the show!
Will Hornbuckle thanks for watching it.
Ken Onion edition?
Jaysun Duran haha, not sure what else they could do to this little system but that would be cool.
thanks helped me alot
I can't really call this a "guided" sharpener...
I agree this isn't a much different than their field sharpener, which I love. But for a bench sharpener I want a landing or something that keeps the angle exact the whole time
Can anyone join the gauntlet review system ?
I really don't see this as any kind of reliable guided system at all :-/ It still relies on you being able to manually keep the right angle across the stone. If you can do that, why bother? I'd buy a whet stone and "guide it" myself.
What happened to spit and a whetstone?
How well does this stack up to the Edge Pro system?
+Eddie King never tried the edge pro.
But isnt the achieved angle depending on the blade side angles in this system?
Meaning a full flat grind knife will get a different edge angle than a saber grind... hmmm.
No.
I'm watching this a little late but I'm checking this system out for a all in one knife sharpener in a bug out scenario to sharpen everything I have from machetes to hunting knives easily and quickly. Do you think this will cover it.
+Donald Kennedy yes its designed to sharpen any knife
This product is a joke, a total toy, would not pay more than $10.00 neighbor bought it and threw it away!
Hey Ben, ever been to Detroit? How did you like it?
Pendejo I live just outside Detroit.
Living Survival Really? But there's so much woods in your videos.
Pendejo Michigan has lots of woods :)
