Tamiya Super Avante TD4 Battery Mod

- In this video I finished the battery mod on the Tamiya Super Avante on the TD4 chassis. I ended up making a couple of little aluminium "strap stays" for the battery strap so it holds the shorty pack battery nice and firm. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching.

Great mod/conversation Mick 👌
Thanks mate! 🙂👍
Good mod, Mick! Yeah, Stock battery system not the most practical. Good work you did. Thanks for showing. Best to you and yours. Megadeth! 👌👍✌️🤘
Great mod. I don't know often I got slaughtered for complaining about the standard battery "door"😁
Thanks mate! Haha yeah, I've seen many people copping it from the die hard Tamiya fans when they voice their opinion, especially about the TD4. You're not alone there mate! 😁👍
Looks great Mick. Love the Megadeath shirt!
Thanks Keith! 😁🤘
Don't own a TD4, but watched because of the PSBWB shirt 🤘
Thanks mate! 😁🤘
I just want to hang and talk about music...lol. Love that you make bits to get the project moving fwd (I tend to do the same). Planning on grabbing one of these kits at some point and this is a proper mod for sure.
Haha, yeah these metal shirts are always a good conversation starter. Thanks mate, yeah sometimes you just gotta make you own parts. I think you'll really enjoy building one of these and it will be great running around your track! 👍
That’s a nice and clean mod you made! Your work gave me some faith in TD4.
Like others your t-shirt rocks Mick! Great mods buddy.
Thanks James! 👊👍

Cool RC and great mod
Hey Duke, thanks mate. Hope you are doing well! 👍
Way nicer then the stock setup! Maybe they need you on the R&D team! might have considered buying one if it came like this! I would prefer buying a shorty pack for it than having to deal with all that fiddly stuff every time I wanted to drive it!
Thanks Addam! Haha I doubt they'd ever let me set foot in the place 🤣. Yeah I just can't bring myself to partially dismantle the car to get the battery in and out. Life is too short for all that! 😁👍
The guy that designed this must be the same one that came up with the XV-01 battery tray 🙄
@@soma_rc Oh yeah, gotta be the same guy! 🤣👍
Quality episode, great tips as always and 1:03 hahahahahahaha brilliant loving your work dude
Haha thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. I knew that aluminium length was not gonna stand up easily without falling, I figured just toss it and call it DONE! 🤣👍
That's a great battery mod sir. I'm new here and keep up the awesome work you do.
Thanks mate! Welcome aboard, will do! 🙂👍
Genius 👏👏
Great shirt Mick👊
Nice mods mate👌,
I bet Tamiya would kick themselves if they saw what you've done🥇.
I'm guessing we'll see a lot more TD4's with your mods, frigging brilliant mate👌🍻🦘🇦🇺.
Thanks mate!
Haha I dunno, I have a feeling Tamiya are doing these things on purpose to challenge us 😁.
Going by the views or lack thereof I'm not sure we'll be seeing any mods like this out there. Maybe someone else will copy it and their video will go nuts (happened too many times before to count), THEN we'll see a bunch of these mods pop up! 🤣 Cheers mate! 🙂👍

Ahaaaaa you're right mate🤔, never thought of that. Great challenge👍.
Yeh I bet it will be copied mate haha
Nice one Mick, should balance it better . I like the battery strap setup. I'm building a big half cabin hull with twin outboards. Dam thing already cost $1000 . Something different to the usual stuff . Can't wait to see this Avante run, heard they drive really good.
Thanks Peter! That half cabin is gonna be awesome with the twin outboards, nice one mate! Haha yeah I bet the costs would be adding up with that monster. Yeah they do drive nicely from what I've seen, should be good! 👍
Hi there Mick, a much tidier way to setup the TD4 and a great modification to the chassis. Must have taken quite a few hours? Anyway, excellent. Take care and best wishes to you and the family. 😊😉😁
G'day John! Thanks mate. I'm not too sure how long it took as there was time wasted with waiting on the JB Weld to cure on the chassis side covers and things like that, then I had to order the straps. I'm gonna guess at around 2 hours of just working on it 🤷♂️. Cheers mate! 🙂👍
I think the designers at Tamiya could learn something from you! But on the other hand, I am guessing it was a conscious decision to have the longer battery compartment, so everyone has a battery they could fit...
Good job spray painting those aluminium bits, I might have just Mustained them... Oh shed, the Megadeth humour is getting worse every time...,
Haha thanks Mads! Yeah I'm sure they knew what they wanted at the time. Although they could have just made it like the TD2 and still use the longer battery 🤷♂. I'm quite sure their main aim was to make battery changing as painful as the original Avante, they succeeded! 😂.
Haha not bad mate, you've done an awesome job of the metal jokes so far. Speaking of metal, I figured I'd use aluminium for these parts so they don't Rust In Peace. 😁👍
