I’ll do my best to respond to comments as soon as I can, but please bare with me as I’m actually now doing the body set and all being well that video will be with you Sunday morning 😅😅😉
Quality of the plastics looks top drawer 🧐🤤 and glad to see the mud guards can be removed ‘cleanly’ 🙂
I'm building mine now, bought the yellow chassis version and lots of tamiya options came with the car also=) Much more involved build than i expected, which i like.
Cheers for the content👍 I’m a new subscriber, your videos are brilliant
Hey welcome to the channel Simon 🤩👊🏻
I'm away for the weekend gonna wait to watch this on the old big telly at home 👍🏼
The whole servo is moving mate!! Great video again!!
No idea how you are getting SO much content shot while building a car...but glad you are for our viewing pleasure. You are an R/C machine!
I love the Mudguards, They kinda work good too.
Beauty TL.
It’s everything I thought it would be., very different and also with a few challenges.. I still want one Glen👍👍👍
That was a really good build vid and it has put my mind at ease about a few things on this chassis..
Really excited about about getting this one on Christmas morning now 😆 it's like Christmas 1988 all over again and waiting for my Black Foot!
Brillant with the steering tip. I was killing myself due to lack of steering. Now it is perfect 👍
I can’t wait to get mine now! I had lost a bit of excitement for it but it has been renewed! Looks like a couple of things are needed, which is GREAT information!!! This is so very helpful to know how things are going to go before a build gets underway. Thanks for the awesome video my friend!!! As always, a wonderful way to start the weekend!
Hey Glenn, great quality build video 👍🏻 Lots of great info for those planning on getting a TD4. It looks absolutely fantastic and I am looking forward to the body shell and your impressions on the performance. 🙌🏻
Wow Glenn What a build , Enjoyed every minute of it and boy you have given some great info and pointers on this build now will be looking forward to your bodyshell and then the Finally DRIVING of this Beauty , So Impressed so far what a Gorgeous Piece of Kit Truly Awesome Thanks as always My friend :-))
Glenn, great build brother and awesome insight on how the buggy goes together with some great tips along the way. Too bad about the pinion & slipper however that topic came up in another video on a UA-cam channel I think we both follow. What an Awesome video my friend, cant wait for the next one!!!!
Great Video Glenn love this Buggy 💙💛 I need an RC Elf in my life lol
Loving this! Good times ahead with these new kits 😃. Mines hopefully arriving in a week! 🤞🏼
Cracking build guide Glenn cheers gives a few good pointers for when I come to build mine. Looking forward to seeing all done and running. You’ve earned your brew now ;)
Great video Glen as always. I wasn't interested in the TD4 until I watched this but now I'm thinking I might just get one 👍
Awesome build Glenn that look such a cool chassis design. Those wheel are a lovely looking colour. Thanks as always for an amazing build vid Glenn 👍👍
Thank you Glen! Great work as always! I thought I would fast forward because this video is 35mins long but i ended up watching every second of it, and I’m sure many other viewers did the same. I hope you have had a good rest before working on the body shell.
G'day Glenn very nice mate glitches and all you have been busy man can't wait till she's finished 👍😃👍
All my builds take forever 😂 Great video and detail. What a wonderful opportunity to explore this brand new design. Thanks for sharing as always 👍🏼
Super cool Glenn, im impressed by the different styling Tamiya have gone, for like the shape of the gearbox housing etc and the plastic looks to be better quality?
Good effort brother, its a sexy car.
Gauranga :-)
I must admit it looks like s cracking build/different which for me is exactly what I wanted out of the TD4 🙌
It looks neat the gears in the rear is really neat looking how they did it. Nice work Way to go RC Elf for gifting you this one!
Hi there. I have just ordered this kit and I am wondering where you get the hop up parts from? Great video, just watching it through again before I build.
Nice one Glenn, interesting chassis, love the motor position, looks well balanced.
Was that you Northern Borat "That's nice" Impression at 24:44min 😜. Thank you for the video 👍
Really enjoying this build looks an excellent kit to do great job Glenn 👍🙂
Awesome vid Glenn thanks a million. More tempted but that front suspension removal would do my head in. Hopefully the aftermarket brings out mod to make things easier.
Very nice and i do like your not doing box art we all need to see what other people can do to help make it look much better. happy rcing man good luck to you
You know he's become a legend and a myth in the UA-cam RC world now.
Fascinating. Its so different and unique but very Tamiya. It was a pass for me at first but i think i might pick one up next year or so when the novelty has passed. Thanks for the video.👊👊
Lookin good so far mate! 👌👍
Very nice great success 😎👊👌🔥🔥🔥
No worries mate! Take your time with the body. I am sure it will look fantastic. PS. I ordered a Blockhead Wild One kit today!
Nice Build 🤩 Can’t Wait to build mine 👍🏻
I don't like the body shell, but now I've seen the build it shows that tamiya have stepped up their game 👍
That was quite a long video, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! That TD4 looks like an awesome build, quality looks fantastic and not that difficult to put together either. But boy, that steering slop, that looked way worse than I ever expected. Personally I'd look at modding it anyway, or do what you're doing and get the hop-up servo blocks, and see if it needs shimming anywhere too. I know I'm a bit late commenting, still recovering from an operation on my right ear so still feeling a bit groggy ;)
Oh I hope you’re on the mend my friend 🤕👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends Thanks mate, I'm doing OK, ear is still really sore and I can't hear a damn thing out of it yet! Basically they had to rebuild my ear canal as it had a big hole in it. Again, thank you for your kind words :)
Thanks for the vid mate, a fun watch. Pity with the pinion issue, but thats just a time matter till you get that sorted, AND, it'll make for a bit of nice update content, wont it? ;D The internals sure seem like one has to be really neat with the wiring work, to make it fit nicely under that body. Lovely build, and look forward to seeing the body, and running vid.
Like the new kit the battery still puts me off. Looking forward to seeing the end of this build and your final views 👍
Great job Glenn,
I am jealous. I probably won’t see my TD4 for months. Seems like the companies I order from are always last to get their kits. Love it though.
Thanks buddy it’ll be worth waiting for 😊😊😊
Nice. Are those same wheels as DT-03?
Looking good Glenn.. coming together :)
I’ve got the same shocks, 23T pinion and servo, driveshaft, slipper and servo horn hop ups all ready to go. Was there much to do to get the shocks to work? When you look at the driver I’ll be interested to see how this fits around the ESC? I’m looking to go brushless as well and it didn’t look like much room on other videos I’ve seen. Can’t wait to get mine now!
Yeah the shocks aren’t a problem, you’ll need to use the screws and ball ends from the Aeration pack. I also fitted 6mm internal spacers all round. Not sure if it came across on video but they work so well 😍
Great video Glenn - really interesting to see the detail as you go. Reminds me of elements (ish) of the m06 but also the Tamtech Gear GT01 chassis at the front end. Looking forward to building one I think - although no serious front bumper means mine will definitely get smashed up if I dare to run it!
Glen, I had that same meshing issue with my TT-02 a while ago. The problem was that I’d used an aftermarket 48P 68T spur gear on a Tamiya 22T pinion and it sounded angry! Like “I’m going to strip this gear” angry. Ended up swapping out the pinion for an aftermarket pinion, again in 22T and that somewhat helped it but yeah, still angry. It wasn’t until I got my hands on a Tamiya FF-01 68T spur until it decided to mesh more smoothly and stop whining. Turns out the aftermarket spur was SMALLER than the Tamiya spur and the motor position was set up where it would click. Another thing is that Tamiya pinions are cut REALLY sharply than the aftermarket one I’d used which adds to making the drivetrain louder. So best suggestion IF building any Tamiya drivetrain is to run a Yeah Racing pinion for Tamiya (yes, they do have a Tamiya-specific line of pinions). Slightly larger than stock and cut smoother.
Anyway, I talked your ear off but I just wanted to say this: what were Tamiya thinking making the slipper clutch hop-up not adjustable for use with any other spur gear on offer from them YET the standard, non-slipper kit spur gear adapter allows the use of any other spur gear they offer like the 64T offered in the TB-03?! Kinda weird if I’m honest.
In closing Glen, hope to get a chance to see it running.
EDIT: I forgot to add that I also used a Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount on mine so you DO have to set the mesh correctly or you’ll have issues that aren’t present when using a Tamiya aluminum mount for the TT-02. However, the aftermarket spur I used will NOT work when used with a Tamiya kit or aluminum motor mount because the physical size of the spur is smaller by a few millimeters.
Wow that’s fantastic information my friend 😊😊😊
Sounds to me like the Super Avante gears use 48 pitch metric gears instead of the standard 48 pitch pinions.
Loved this video Glenn, very in-depth and explained a lot about the build, Can' wait to see how you paint and decal the body shell, does look like you will need the alloy servo mounts as there is way too much movement there. 👍👊
That’s a lot of interesting design gone into that chassis, the gearbox is novel and a bit like the cc01 chassis I think….looking forward to your body video as Im excited to see your design/decal choice 🤔🥰
Don’t look very fast from the run up nice build top work.
Here is a question you can answer at your leisure. Do you think if one was to install a shorty or 1s LiPo battery a user could avoid fiddling with that front end whenever they had to change a battery?
I was looking at this and the Blockhead Motors Wild One for a Xmas gift for myself. But after watching RC Kicks unboxing on the Wild One I'm leaning towards this or even a Kyosho Tomahawk.
Or maybe seeing as I like the Tamiya design I should wait for the 2wd buggy option? Opinions on that would be appreciated.
Think I will get the pre painted with the yellow chassis the front shock set up is same as my ta06 which I found interesting to build
I have enjoyed seeing you build this new TD4 kit. Its definitely different from anything I have built, still on the fence actually, I may not build my own. Maybe have to give the TD2 Astute a go when it comes out. Too bad Tamiya requires the stiffer servo mounts, and slipper clutch. Should be included in the box.
Looks interesting, I don’t think ive ever seen a gearbox integrated into the chassis like that. It will be interesting to see how much slop the steering has after a bit of running. hope the body went well Glenn!
Hi Glenn,
would it be possible to use a shorty lipo across the chassis, in the way you would use a normal battery in the TD-02?
In that case you don´t need to remove the front bracket.
I was not sure about the TD-04, but after watching this video I defintately want one!
Yeah I’d imagine a shorty would work 😊👊🏻
Very, very cool!
Limited you can have universals front and rear on the car right?
😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 cannot wait!!!!
TAMIYA legends do you kno were I can get hold of a rising storm shell I found one in my dads loft but no shell on it and I can't find any thanks
Its normal for the motor to notch like that it’s just the magnets making the gears knock with backlash. I know it’s all about looks with you and your suspension setting, but why set it for road use only, removing all the droop then wonder why it might bottom out when you drop it?
I’ve just got mine so haven’t got round to building it yet, but was wondering if you can reverse that steering ball link so the pin release is at the front on top?
Yeah there’s still a lot of clearance Neil, I’ll have to see if I can mod that arm 🤔👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends love what you’re doing that front wing is inspired… I’m loving the td4 it’s a lot of kit and can’t wait to get into it… I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment but will try and get it done by Christmas… I am a real fan of the tall slim body shell.. btw if people use a shorty pack I wonder if it would squeeze in transversely
An integrated gearbox into the chassis, nice idea, should make it even more rigid. Also they are using Allen head screws 😊 well done tamiya
Good one. Nice 👍🏻
I wonder what it would look like, with DF03 Avante Mk2 wheels? 🤔
Hot coffee and the TD4 !
I'd like to see what it would look like with Thundershot livery and paint.
nice, how much did it dent your bank account?
nice build
Could you swap the front to back steering arm so the E Clip would go in the front from the top..
Hmmm interesting 🤔
Great work😎
Which ESC did you use for this kit?
Nice car, in all fairness though tamiya should've been doing 48dp pinions/spurs in all there kits years ago.
48dp is like an industry standard now days, anyway enjoy Glen from the little bit green with envy old boy from Essex 🤣👍😎
Glenn that clicking noise when you turn the wheels.is the motor overcoming the magnets.
Yeah I realised after, it’s been awhile since I’ve had a brushless motor fitted 🤯👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends is it a tamiya motor?
@@leehurst6922
Yeah 10.5
@@TAMIYALegends is that with the new tamiya ESC?
@@leehurst6922
No I’m using the older TBLE02s with a fan
The steering stops stop the upright from flopping past the servo steering limit. there is still a limit to the universal joint just more than dog bones. you will get chatter from the universal as it starts to bind.
I don’t think I have the energy to do all that in one go - I did sniff tires last night though 😁
Looks like it’s gonna be a great car once you address all the little issues!
So you got that slipper clutch for cuz I know it doesn't come with it.
so have tamuya changed too 48p like all other bethe brands for modern kits ??? thats what killed me 2 day wit supershot and there silly 04/06 mode pitch , and also can you set the mesh or is it locked into pinion size with motor holes or 100% ajuatable too any size ,thanks for any help glenn
Yeah it’s only if you buy the slipper clutch hop up, that comes in 48 only. Yeah you have a ton of adjustment for different ratios 😅👊🏻
Just Awesome
Hi you make Tamiya truck video
@@ascreativeandrccars4489
Yeah I’ve got 2/3 videos building the Tamiya Ford Aeromax 😎👊🏻
Watching for a third time now 🤣
🤣🤣🤣. Excellent 😇👊🏻
How is the travel without the internal shock spacers? :-)
Way too much in my opinion 🤷🏼♂️
@@TAMIYALegends Ah, I like a bit of loamy body roll in my buggies. I was interested in seeing how much travel you could get out of the lay down shock system.
I think there's a way to use the battery in a horizontal fashion instead of it being vertical.
Still think I’m going to wait and see what comes next on this chassis, hoping for some sort of MS, hopped up version.
Very interesting
Sloppy! 🤔 that definitely needs sorting! But loving the suspension set up!
I am working on my Sand Scorcher and understand how time runs away from you!
Starting to change my mind about this 🤔
If the diff is a slipper, you shouldn't need a slipper spur. Unless you're planning to slip a lot, in which case you're better off slipping the spur to reduce wear.
Surley your TRF Buggy has the right pitch pinion
I absolutely get why you didn't show the ball diffs build 😁
I think 06 mod.would fit that car I think.
When the pinion grub screw is stripped just drill the other side and tap a new thread
With a brushless you're going to want to start out with a small pinion.
If you used a none lipo battery you could charge the battery in the car.
Loverly buggy but it’ll never be an avanti
Just seen a video of the canopy cut off with the driver sticking out kinda looks cool and different here's the link time stamp at 9:17 👌 ua-cam.com/video/qlRMBsMGkrk/v-deo.html
Yeah that does look pretty cool 😎
The name Avante is correctly for this car 🤣🤣🤣
