Those Ataris are getting older now and rarer to find nowadays. They have one of the most simple basic joystick controllers which are easy to use. Now to this day that Atari in that video here is 42 years old just about
I have been struggling to remove the motherboard from the rf shielding because mine is also nasty af and i wanna clean the whole thing. Some screws were stripped/starting to strip.
just so people know petroleum products like WD-40 are bad for plastics - they will eat, strip, soften it - hold out for some furniture polish, or something easier on the plastics
@McFloppy - Were you able to figure out what was wrong (even though its been nearly 4.5 years later) toward the end of the video with the lines in the video? You might have needed a new part or connector of some sort.
Sorry ..but at least the switchboard is a Light Sixer one ( moreover the mainboard seems to be Light Sixer too ) , so in the end this one is a mix between Heavy and Light Sixer !
I hate to say it, but you're right. The switch board is missing the heat sync on the lower right of the power switch and the main board has a build date of 1978 (they only made the heavy sixer in 1977). That sucks, I really hate to see someone be sold something untruthful.
Don´t be too angry about the former owner , it was quite common that Atari only changed ( instead of repair ) the switch/mainboard during repair or service action ! Maybe the first owner was lucky like hell after this change of parts in the early 80s .....
Never mind, I just had to start from the bottom middle tab. I'm still not sure if the side tabs actually bend or not, but they popped out without too much trouble. Thanks for the video.
That's actually a lot cleaner than you migh tthink. I bet someone cleaned it before. Why? Because I opened up a Japanese n64 to clean recently and it was 3x as dirty, and had spider colonies.
'There would be 6 screws in the bottom... oh there are more'
That's Classic...

Thank you
That motherboard does not look like from a Heavy Sixer. It's from a light sixer. The heavy Sixer had a different transistor heatsink.
Remember there are two models of "Heavy Sixer"

He counted six screws I counted eight screws
you lucky fucker i’ve always wanted a heavy sixer
Inside that metal casing covering the motherboard there is a tan disk to adjust the color.
Nice ringtone, lol.

its gunna turn 40 years old in september 2017 but atari had started development on the system in 1975
You need to have the atari plugged up, use a game with a lot of colors and adjust to your fitting.

6:00 Those tabs just aren't budging for me. I'm trying to make a six-switch Vader here...

Did you manage to fix whatever was wrong with the colour?
Yeah I did. I made a video about that on my channel. It shows you how you can fix it.
I'll check it out and I'll give you a sub as well, I love console restorations like this.
Thank you! I'm happy that you like my videos!
I hope that helps private message me if it works.
At least kids post 1983 are into this sort of stuff?

+Reuben Ahmed spiders inside your N64? Jesus christ dude I would be scared to even touch it or go near it if (I have severe Arachnophobia)
+lilmattere I hate spiders, too. I forget the term, but things you're scared of, your mind makes it seem like it's much larger than it actually is.
