This is what it means sometimes to be a parent: your children become something so much greater than anything you ever might have imagined.
This scene when dad looked around seeing everybody else’s reactions to his daughter’s singing was very emotional. Couldn’t stop crying after! ❤
Yeah, I cried here too, just thinking about the experience of deafness. And, yes, when Ruby sang to her dad. CODA will probably be the best movie I will see in 2021.

1:17 One of the most enlightening moments of the movie. It was the perfect time to let me have some insight. It would be watched so much more if it was not only on apple TV. We all need a part two on the family while Ruby is at school.

@@culdesacphil This movie has opened my mind. I can say It has changed my attitude towards the deaf community. I work in healthcare and even though I try to have patience the job is always a rush. I hope part two shows how a non deaf / non ASL person can involve a deaf person into a conversation so they can take part of casual conversation.
My bother is deaf he does have cochlears but it’s crazy to think when he doesn’t have them on this is all he can hear ❤😢
Wonderful film. We are graced by the beauty of Emilia Jone's voice, but to me the most effective move of the film is to have the sound off during this piece. Her family cannot hear the music, but they witness the emotions on the faces of the crowd. I couldn't keep a dry eye at this. This scene, out of many, was what sold me on this film.

None of the libraries in Michigan have a copy of CODA. I can't afford Apple TV and it took two years to find an out of state library that would loan a nearby college their copy. That profit would prevent people from understanding Deaf Culture so powerfully portrayed says alot about American corporations like Apple and others and the true source of inequality and ultimate evil in this world.
As to the movie, now having seen it, I laughed, cried and understood better a world most people are uncomfortable around. The problem was never with the Deaf...
I love this version, but it rly doesn’t beat the original French movie version’s song
