1972 Dodge D100: Making Floor Pans out of JUNK!

- This 1972 Dodge d100 came out the edge of a field, and is slowly being transformed in to a Fun Drag and Shop truck. The major issue tackled in this video is the rusted floor pans. Since this is NOT a SHOW TRUCK and NOT a RESTORATION, I used what I had laying around to make some floor pans that truly suit the needs of the project.

The $100 question is: What do YOU rate this level of floor pan patchwork? And is it good enough for this old truck?
6/10
Yes!!
I rank it a 8 out of 10. I did an 80 cab we were putting on a 78 floor using metal out of a K car roof, we centered up the 4 speed hump we salvaged out of the 78 cab and filled in the sides with the K car roof.
9/10 great job. The best part is your attitude and approach to your work & producing these great vids. I'm a diehard mopar guy. Your videos help me find the motivation to gettin back out there to fix many of the little things my old mopars need. Just a lil more TLC. Thanks Joe 👍🏻
I'm the last person to be able to rate bodywork but I think you did a good enough job for the purpose....no Fred Flintstone stops! I also think the truck will be faster 😉
I would say 8 out of 10, it would be 10 if you pressed the ribbing into it like factory
Good job on the floor pans. Joe Ross painting a happy little Dodge Truck !!!
Haha! Thanks Tim
Floors turned out great and I can guarantee you that they will last another 40 years easily with that patch job. Great work. Glad we both got a little more time to get these old trucks ready for the Tailgate Throwdown, See you soon..
That's the plan! I needed that little bit to get it all right
Yes def right level for this project. This is a driver/racer not a trailer queen👊🏁
Thanks brother!
the Bob Ross of rust removal technicians - happy little rust spot . . .
😂
Truck keeps getting better
Absolutely! And more to come
I drove semi for a Mom & Pop outfit yrs. ago. My truck was the owners sons first truck, a 1972 cabover Frieghtliner. We fixed & patched the cab, roof, sides, front & floor with pieces salvaged from a Mack, a Kenworth & and old Peterbilt. When we finished, we named her "The PeterMacfrieghtworth" !!! Moral of the story: work with what ya got.
That’s a great name!
It just keeps getting better
Thanks Terry! The little things add up

Haha! Have Mopar, Will travel!
👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks brother
I’ve got to try that turbo paint can. I’ve seen several people use it and it looks like a timesaver. !!! 👍
It really is! I will save that tip for other cans 😂
!!! Thats 99% exactly what I did a couple years back with mine. It just so happens that a hood from 80 up has the exact same curves as the seat mount spot so when I cut it up it dropped in perfect. The only thing I did differently was I tucked the edges underneath instead of on top where possible. I love the sheet metal screw method we both used here because its a simple job of popping the screw out and you have an awesome plug weld spot! I would like to add that it helps a LOT to tie both of the sub frame boxes in from under and fully weld them out.
I think its absolutely hilarious that the two of us forgot to do the exact same thing on 2 separate projects... and its a big "oops" too. I'm curious of anyone can point that out?
Thanks brother. I had a little to finish underneath for sure
@@JustMoparJoe Right right, but what did we both miss? The stupid holes for the cab mounts lol
Ive always used a product called One Step...same thing though and thats stuff works good.
Thanks for sharing!
Going at it hammer and nails 😂 great job definitely gotta stop that rust, not as bad here in Australia, as long as you stay away from launching boats 😂, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks Donald!
Bought a 65 Rustang for a hundred bucks about 1981. Peel back the red carpet, and you could see the road! Someone used expanded metal to patch the holes. That Mustang was way past fixind due to rust, sold it for parts got my money back, after I had some fun doing dumb teenaged stuff with it. 😆
Your patch job looks fine to this old Minnesota road salt rust guy!
Thanks brother! It’ll get the job done ✅
Looks about like I'd do it.
Alright!
Not sure how much the Eastwood stuff costs but for that type of work I use Roofing urethane from the hardware store it is much stronger than silicone and since it is urethane I believe you can paint over it
Awesome! I’ll check it out!
Perfecto! Looks good to me.
Thanks T!
What!? No license plates? 😟
I know! And no stop signs 😂
What was the stuff you had in the big spray can? Just paint?
Yea sir. Just Rustoleum black. It’s the Turbo can that guys paint their whole cars with
FAINCY!!!!
Thanks brother!
