🌟 Hey everyone! I appreciate all the love and support you've shown me over the years 🥰 Many of you have asked how you can help with my dream of having a small farm/ranch with the goal of helping animals in need. I'm excited to share that I've set up a GoFundMe to help make my dream a reality hopefully a wee bit sooner. If you'd like to contribute, please check out the link below-every little bit helps! Thank you for being part of this journey! 🙏❤ gofund.me/70c815cb
I don't know if you recognized The land that Vyvian discovered when he went into the wardrobe? That was Narnia, with the White Witch and her dwarf. And I believe that the woman who played the White Witch was the same one who played the role in a BBC production of several of the Narnia books. She really chewed the scenery in those!
SPG the hamster was bringing them an olive branch. It was reference to the biblical story of noah's ark during the great flood. Noah waited seven days and sent out a dove from the ark. When the dove returned to him that evening, a fresh plucked olive leaf was in its beak. So Noah knew that the waters had receded.
I really hope you get to Bottom when you are finished with The Young Ones!! Also Rik & Ade had characters called The Dangerous Brothers in some hilarious sketches which I'm sure you'll love.
I can't believe you edited out one of my favorite scenes from this series. The graveyard scene has always had me in tears. We did a reenactment of it on a camping trip once. People who weren't familiar with the show were very confused. It was still good to see you laughing again. You sound like your finally getting over the health issues you were going through.
I really enjoyed your reaction👏🏻 It's been about 2 years since I discovered the show and I absolutely loved it, had to buy it on dvd. This is definitely my favorite episode of season 1.
Dawn you are doing so great with the YOung ones, but please if you can make the season 2 episode reactions longer. For some reason the BBC is more lenient with letting people post season 2. & it has so many amazing episodes that deserve a lot more time if you can post it. You can certainly post two-parters of 12 mins each...& we will all still watch! Or just leave the audio while blurring the visual if necessary during some parts. Most of us know the lines by heart & we certainly are willing to sacrifice some visuals to see you enjoy & laughing at more of the show! 👍
Yes, not a mask Dawn. It's what laydees used to wear in the 50's & 60's when it rained, to protect there very expensive hairdo's from getting spoilt in the rain
Guess the yt versions are short cos they often cut out the band that play in each episode. Have you spotted the other flatmate yet? She's in most episodes - presumably somebody who came to a party once and never left. Usually sitting in a corner somewhere.
One thing i find unreal about the Young Ones is ... where is the huge pile of gruesome dishes in the sink that perpetually needs to be washed? ps: ... wait a minute! .. there was no band this week!
@@Thunderer0872 - good point. IMDB for this episode says: Soundtracks Drama Heights From the album "Drama-Tension" Written, Arranged and Conducted by John Scott
When I was in High school, I used to watch the Young Ones on Comedy Central Late Night. Mainly because BBC Worldwide would lease the broadcast rights for these shows from the late 70s and early 80s really cheap to American Cable Networks.
Hi Dawn again. On a seperate subject, Gimley from Lord of the rings, as i understand, the actor is from Welsh blood, he was born in London, has a Welsh name, so i suppose was putting on a very good Scottish accent, fine actor. Hope that aint confused you even more? Cheers Dawn.
John Rhys-Davies was born in Shropshire to Welsh parents, and lived in various African countries and, indeed, South Wales. He said this in an interview: _"I’m told I was conceived in Wales and it was intended I should be born there but it was wartime and you couldn’t make the travel arrangements at the time. My parents were always Welsh-speaking and very proud of Wales. As part of my upbringing I used to spend at least two months of the year in Wales with my grandmother in Ammanford and Auntie Maggie in Treorchy. I’ve had the feeling of being Welsh all of my life"_
Of course Rick is your favorite. Everybody loves The Peoples Poet - our hero. Damn, I miss Rik Mayall. I really hope you'll at least react to Bottom in the future. Rik and Ade dialed up the cartoon violence to beyond even The Three Stooges in that show.
Vyvyan is my favorite. He is absolute unrestrained id, and who doesn't love that. Plus he has the all time best line from the entire show: "This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence."
Do you know Rik Mayal (Rick) and Adrian Edmonson (Vyv) did a brilliant comedy series called "Bottom" ? Plenty of stuff there to react to. Christopher Ryan (Mike) has a small role in it too.
Your reactions are always a delight. ❤ I love how it's the stereotypical nuclear family: Mike the inattentive Dad, Neil the long-suffering and put upon Mum, Vyvyan as the son and Rik (with the silent P, but you'll see that in Bambi which is next) as the daughter. Rik is so prissy it's hilarious. And the only serious (as in didn't work in comedies) actor in the bunch is Mike, which works out actually. 😀 A year passed between the two series, which is bizarre to me, but still amusing. Like most things Young Ones.
Weird how every time I post a warning about someone using Dawn's comment section to try and scam people - it gets removed.I guess UA-cam doesn't appreciate me.
Turkish Delight really is rubbish. Think you're going to enjoy season two even more! 🤞 Also good to see a reactor on UA-cam so comfortable with their audience that they're happy to pick their nose on camera (7.37)😁
@@Steve-qy6yk He acquired a couple of records in fact. But he wasn't able to acquire the title of "World's Stupidest Bottom Burp" - he was beaten by someone whose name is spelled with a 'silent P'...

Yup. Special Patrol Group is the symbol of salvation.

The Turkish Delight looked like a Narnia reference ( The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)

"The Lady and the Little Man" were from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The Lady was the White Witch.
Some of them were also in a series called Comic Strip Presents...that were random stories.
Guess the yt versions are short cos they often cut out the band that play in each episode. Have you spotted the other flatmate yet? She's in most episodes - presumably somebody who came to a party once and never left. Usually sitting in a corner somewhere.
In this episode he/she floats away outside the window - and must be "dead", because the gimmick ends here.

Now for season 2, which is miles better than season 1 believe me!

They couldn't book a band for that episode, so they got a lion tamer instead to still fit the variety label (and keep their budget).
