Big baits most certainly catch big bass...until about 3 years ago, my PB was around 4 lbs as i used your standard size baits....in ohio, that's a nice bass.. 3 years ago, I bought a 7", 2 oz wakebait in trout color...3rd cast.. 5 lb. Bass...that, along with a 2 lb bass on a 10" big rat wakebait got me addicted to big baits.. Now, i have a crazy amount of lures including a BUNCH of big baits...a 7" Googan Dart soft jerkbait in white & a 9" white Slug go have caught me 6 bass, from 5-7 lbs...lost what looked to be a little bigger a few weeks ago that snapped my braid doing a nose dive under the kayak...last week, i was throwing a ABT Dirty Donkey topwater bait..it's Big..almost 7" & 3 oz i believe...in 5 casts, a 6 & 4 lb. Bass.....in 3 years of throwing big baits, I've caught many, many bass 5 lbs & over...again, trophies in ohio....i highly recommend buying a budget swimbait rod..Dobyns Fury 795 is a great starter rod...buy about 3 big baits to start....2-4 oz baits for this rod...20-25 lb. Mono...DO NOT USE BRAID on big, heavy baits with trebles...Give big baits a chance...may surprise u what's in your bodies of water...10-12" plastic worms are great big bass baits as well
